Five star park here. Beautiful, wide open green spaces are complimented by some wooded areas nearer to downtown. Hang a hammock and relax with the quiet sounds of the city in the background. When I visited, there were some school groups there, enjoying the space. An ultimate team was practicing in one of the open fields. It was a really nice place to wander around, taking in all the pretty sights. Waterfall, river, trees, and the pretty buildings and art. Really cool place to come solo or with your crew. Every time I visit Indy, I visit this park. Oh, and how could I forget the vendors! I went midday, it was hot, and I was starting to feel worn out. I headed back to my hotel to grab food but then ran into the vendors! Super nice, great prices (they take cards!). Pumped that blood sugar back up and spent another hour enjoying the space. Don't forget to take the trail along the river. Some really excellent shaded spots to sit for a read.

This was a beautiful park! Very well maintained, unique art sculptures throughout and a canal walk, all of which completely made you forget that you were in the middle of downtown city. I would say it's even more beautiful at night with all the lights perfectly accenting the landscape and canal. A must visit for the day if ever in Indianapolis. Although not sure about parking because we walked from the hotel that overlooked the park.

Perfect for an afternoon stroll. I like to go late afternoon and catch the sunset on the white river state park . The park is well maintained. My only negative point is that there is no free parking around . You will have to park off the street and pay the park meters or pay the outdoor parking or underground .

Lovely venue in the middle of downtown Indianapolis. Unfortunately, due to a lack of signage, issues with parking and closed off sections, our experience was less than ideal. Our first problem was parking. The signs for visitor parking directed us to an area that barricaded and restricted. We found our way to a parking garage that had posted rates. It was early on a Sunday morning, so we were sorry to see the cost would be $8 for one hour or less. We knew we would cut our trip short to stay under that limit. We never found a welcome center or official "entrance". It looked like many businesses, green spaces and walking trails near the river is the park. There may be more, but we found no real signage explaining that. We enjoyed walking the grounds, admiring the art, green spaces and buildings. There were several bikers and runners enjoying some early morning exercise. We noticed a huge section was blocked off with temporary barricades. When we found some signage on the barricade, we realized the barricade enclosed a concert venue that closed off one section of the park for about half the year. Is that area ever free to explore? After a walk over the bridge we saw an entrance to a zoo (closed), we realized there was little left to explore, so we headed back to our car in the garage. A kiosk started talking to us to insert our parking ticket. Fortunately, we had it with us and inserted it. It didn't ask for payment, but gave it back to us. We thought it might be broken. We wandered the parking garage for a while (no maps) but, we finally found the car. When we left, the parking ticket opened the gate. Again, no charge for parking. At that point we figured parking was free on a Sunday. Too bad we didn't know that initially. We would have spent longer in the park. Overall, this is a nice space to explore, I definitely would not pay $8 to park do that, but we may return on a future Sunday. I didn't see a playground, picnic area, no pets, and no public restrooms available. They need to update signs for those who are unfamiliar with this venue.

You can visit over and over and always do and see new things. It's just so huge a space. So much walking! I suggest you bring a few snacks, maybe a picnic lunch. Your ear buds and a book. And hang out for a few hours. It's just beautiful and relaxing. A great day anyday.

White River State Park has it all! It's downtown Indy, museums, river, hiking paths, scooter/bike rentals, fountains, impromptu musicans, beautiful architecture, IMax and, best of all, TCU Amphitheater. TCU has a fabulous lineup of music groups for 2022 summer-- Lyle Lovett, Robert Plant/ Allison Krause, Billy Strings, etc. Seats are very reasonable, especially Lawn. IMPORTANT! Carry Clear purse of very small purse--they will make you check anything bigger.

Beautiful, well-maintained and a quiet park across the White River canal. Vast green grass ground gives the feel of smooth woollen blanket on the earth, giving a soothing experience when one walks on bare foot. People come in group or as couple or alone but every one enjoys spending leisure time with nature surrounded by great buildings of JW Marriott and others. Friendly footpath, resting spots need special mention. Memorable time guaranteed.

This is a beautiful urban park! Its a nice place to walk around, and the river they had was very nice. During the fall, the wind is very cold. Overall, recommend this park, as we will be coming back soon!

Went to see H.E.R. and it was amazing! I wish there were more food trucks options but it was a fun, bright and loud show. Everything you can ask for in a concert. I didn't like the fact that they had to hold your bag for $5 but I guess I can understand.

I have come here for two years in a row during the summer... It's always a nice place to relax and take pictures. Good atmosphere and tons of activities going on to get involved with. Recommend as a nice place to relax and possibly have a picnic :)

So glad we walked over and checked out the park. Lots of grassy areas to enjoy. You can easily find a place to sit in the shade or sun. Interesting art. Ducks, geese, turtles and squirrels added interest for our little.

White River State Park is fabulous. What beautiful place that Indy has created. I will definitely be back there in the foreseeable future, especially for concerts. I've been to two concerts since they've been in existence - Carlos Santana and the Indy Jazz Fest. Wonderful, wonderful ❤️ experience.

Had a difficult time getting my tickets to transfer, or show up on my phone, or something... was scared we were going to miss the show. But we had 2 angels working as staff help us, one at the gate who kindly tried her best, then passed us on to the girl at the box office who got us our tickets & into the show. Both were friendly, patient & extremely helpful with something that was SO not their problem. Angels..... truly.

I really love the canal walk. Right in the heart of Indianapolis. You can find something everyone enjoys along the way. Taking in the scenery, paddle boating, museum tour, dining, trust me, you will find something you like. I like the way they incorporate things going on downtown with the canal walk. In the pictures you can see the water is green...that's not algae, well most of it's not. The green in the water was for an "Go Green" environment event going on at this time. I heard they also do a blue for the Colts, but I haven't seen that. I think they could use a few more dining options along the walk. My personal favorite is the Eiteljorg museum. The walk is free of charge but plan on spending around $3-$8 for parking and a little extra for anything else you choose to do or place you plan to visit.

A very cute intersection of city and nature. There’s a little waterfall, I saw a huge white-tailed bird, dragonflies, geese. There’s a more naturey trek just over the bridge. There’s lots of grass, tables, and benches to camp out but I found a huge boulder to have lunch 10/10 would recommend!

This is a metropolitan park in indianapolis downtown. Amazing riverside walkway. Pleanty of free space to enjoy your time with your nears and dears. I have enjoyed the park so much as it is well maintained lawn, nice and clean riverwalk, hopefull anybody will like to spend time here. There is paid parking available in the park premisses.

This is an amazing outdoor venue! The parking is outrageous along with the drinks 🍹. But, it’s downtown Indianapolis (the money maker in Nap 😴 Town) anyway…Kevin Gates had a truly amazing show here for the 2nd year in a row. Production and sound was on point along with the energy and vibes.

Beautiful area...enjoyed a nice walk with my teen! The only part that bothered me was how gross the river was...oil sheen on top.. debris floating around, kinda smelled like garbage which was sad because we saw some great wildlife around it!

Lot of places to walk and ride bikes however there are no food venues drink venues any place to buy a hot dog or a bottle of water so if you go make sure you pack your own lunch and water cuz it's a long walk to the next restaurant

Beautiful new venue. Short lines for drinks and restrooms. We had a box seat that was wide and roomy. Beautiful park around the entrance. Well done Indy.

Great venue. Not a bad seat. Able to upgrade seats when you get there. The latest concert we saw was Counting Crows.

If you would like to see cherry blossoms in Indiana, this White River State Park is the place to be. Every year at the beginning of April, the 52 cherry trees in the park bloom; in 2023, they were in third bloom on 4/1-2, so they will be in full bloom in a few days. The State Park also has a canal, making it a great location for a spring picnic. There is a fee for parking, but it is a good deal as it is only about $6 for 2 hours.

This park is incredible. I love the fact that it is so clean! Feel free to take a walk during the day, and it is lit up very well at night. So much beautiful wildlife to see. There are waterfalls everywhere to sit and enjoy the river view with the waterfalls behind and all around you. I went on a Sunny Saturday and it wasn't too busy at all. I am extremely impressed that I found this beautiful park in Indianapolis! It beats the parks in California or Colorado any day. Very impressive.

First time back since 2019. Love this place to the fullest. The upgrades to the venue are on point, and the atmosphere is so wonderful. So glad we made the show tonight.

I love this place; whether for jogging, walking or even just sitting with my morning coffee. Also one of best places to observe fall in Indianapolis.

Nice open park with access to walk down to the river or the bridge over to the zoo. Not many people there during the week.

Venue was fantastic. Security moved fast. Plenty of vendors so that no line was ever longer than a few min. Seating was better spaced than most places I have been. Also clean bathrooms
