It’s hard to find burger places that still use grills! The staff here is committed to making you the best Dan burger possible. If you like potato wedges then get the home fries. Way better than the fake stuff 🍔🍔

Used to love this place, but the employees are rude. The food isn't as good as it once was. Last time I was there, I purchased a double big Dan, per usual, and my girlfriend wanted the chicken tenders. On the menu it says "large tenders". You get 2, for $5. I assumed, and told her that they would be large per the menu, and that their portions are typically large. For $10 you can get a decent size burger and fries... our order was up, and as I went to look in the bag to see if there was ketchup, the guy with one tooth, told me, aggressively, that it's in there! So I left. As I arrived home 20 minutes later, the chicken we ordered was not there. I called, they said they would give them to me if i came back, so I drove 20 mins back, and they handed me a bag, as I looked in and pulled out the chicken strips, they were hardly larger than a chicken nugget from McDonald's and flat, small is an understatement. I just spent 20 minutes driving back for two chicken nuggets that cost me $5. And still had 20min drive back. I complained about the size and they told me, "they are good size for children". I said, not my child, even at 6, those small "tenders" would not have been enough to be a snack for my child. I said I wanted my money back and didn't want the chicken, and that I felt ripped off for $2.50 per nugget. They said, no refunds, they can only replace mistakes. I said well, your mistake cost me 40 minutes of driving, and I'm not happy. They said sorry, nothing they can do. You can make a very annoyed long term customer, happy. But that apparently is something they can't do. I wont be back for my monthly burger ever again. And I won't recommend them to anyone either. I loved their burgers, but never again, based on customer service alone. I was furious at their mistake, and they all but laughed in my face.

I got this place for lunch. The burgers had good flavor, had a nice sear, were a good size for the money. The fries were really good and were the best part of my meal. What turned me off is the wait time which I could've offset by pre-ordering but it was kind of last minute decision. I wasn't able to finish my burger. Not because of the size, but because I got a piece of gristle or something that was too hard to break down with my teeth. For 2 out of 3 bites i had to try to figure out what i was chewing and I was done. The lemonade appeared to be but did not taste freshly made instead it tasted like a powdered drink mix. Since all the flavors were good I'm willing to try it again sometime if that's the only burger spot open.

What can I say other than BABABAAM! Superior customer service and burger all at one stop! There’s no doubt Big Dans, or like us old timers still call them, Mr Dans, is the tastiests, juiciest all around best burger in the Midwest and possibly the world. Order that baby up with grilled onions, pickles, cheese and mayo and your tummy will be flying high in a karmic nirvana unequaled since the first Oreo cookie rolled off the assembly line. This a burger u can respect. And the crew working here know how to do it right. Courteous, friendly and joking with the customers and always get my rather complicated order right. Not like McCrappies or starpunks. I wish every burger joint was a Big Dans. Then I’d be livin’ full time in the penthouse of 7th heaven!

Since 1957. From Gay Dan to Mr Dan and now Big Dan you can get one of the best burgers in town!

This place is nostalgic for me. My dad took me here when I was a kid in the 80's and he ate there when he was a kid in the 50's. The food is good and I recommend the home fries over any other fries. The staff is friendly and engaging if you are or they will leave you alone if you so desire. UPDATE: I had a coney dog and double dan w/ cheese. I couldn't even wait to get home before eating both of those delicious items. Such good food. Don't waste your time on chain burger places. Eat at Big Dan's and make sure you get those home fries!

Very poor service. Paid too much for a burger and fries only to be shorted the fries when you're the only customer in the store. Definitely weren't focused on satisfying the customer. Too much jaw jacking going on.

The place looks like a dump but it's very good.... First time stopping there eating this in over twenty years it is still delicious

I use to be addicted to the burgers but for so reason the cheese taste so spoiled. New vendor or proper storage of the cheese is needed!! If you eat here I don’t recommend adding cheese To the burgers.

I’m impressed still today. The burgers at Mr. Dans is still great. The coney dogs are just as great. The service is always nice and the food is always hot and fresh off the grill. And did I say fast!!! 🤗

I remember this place when it was Mr Dan's. This place is just apart of the neighborhood. I couldn't imagine the east side without it. Food tastes like a hometown in the Midwest, soul food to say the least. Welcoming and a place to return

This was our first time. I was sorry to see there was no indoor seating currently, but it looks like that's a temporary thing. They have very efficient ordering system and your number displays in the window so you can sit in your car and wait which is nice. The food was fantastic. The Big Dan burger was a good old fashioned diner burger and definitely large enough for most people. The Double Dan was a monster of a burger that actually filled up my teenage son. The french fries and home fries are out of this world! They're honestly the best I've had in decades. All in all, this was a great experience.

My bf is a real foodie and doesn't say good things about just any ol burgers. He said that the burgers here are real good and have more potential if they only would season their meat. Big Dan's is on his top 3 most favorite places for burgers. I like them as well and come here at least once every other week. Keep up the good work! 👍

There were 6 of here for the first time from out of town and were disappointed immediately upon entering. Website says old fashioned diner. However, you must take your food to go. The dining area was closed. Very frustrating.

The burgers that are second to none and those home fries are delicious! Finish it off with their lemonade and you can't go wrong.

If you haven't tried em, you missing out! Never tried this place, and I pass it by every time, on the way to Hindle Bowling Alley! ....yeah I been missing out! Y'all go try it, won't be disappointed!

purchased coney dogs. bread was microwaved soft. they put forks in the bag. A fork was needed. delicious. paid $10.05 for 2. It was worth it.

I personally enjoyed it. There was a little lack of discretion when a young lady had came in and distracted the cook but I got an extra drink out of the delay and it was delicious. I will be back for sure for more.

It was a great visit!!! The woman taking orders was too funny. The food was incredible!!! I drove up from North Carolina and couldn't wait to have a hamburger and fries from here. It was everything I had hoped for. I will be back very very soon!!! 😀

Had the Double Dan and fries today for lunch. It was awesome! The burger was hot (and cooked to order right in front of you), the bun was super fresh and the fries were just right. This location has been or is being remodeled. Everything is looking bright, new and clean.

It's not quite the Mr. Dans I remember as a child. I ordered two chili dogs and the chili was bland. I didn't even finish the second one. The seasoned white lady at the counter had an attitude and didn't seem like she wanted to be at work.

The service was good...I ordered for somebody else. I haven't actually eaten here since the remodeling because something about them having new kitchen appliances doesn't sit well with me lol but it smelled great and was ready in the same time it used to be.

Always delicious!! Just grabbed dinner on my way my home from work last week The home fries were the best with a Double Dan with everything.

My wife, from Indiana, talked about Mr Dan's for a couple years. Today I finally had it. So freaking good! Big Dan's Mr Dan's any name you use it's delicious! Stop by and get full up with some fantastic food! 5 Stars!
