I
had
actually
planned
to
visit
Flores
more
than
two
years
ago
to
explore
the
landscape,
see
the
Komodo
dragons
and
dive
in
a
place
that
is
considered
one
of
the
best
dive
areas
in
the
world.
Since
I
also
wanted
to
experience
a
liveaboard,
I
chose
the
Mimic
boat
from
Wunderpus
Diving.
The
email
communication
with
the
owner
Ed
was
always
very
friendly
and
Ed
shared
a
lot
of
information
about
the
diving
area
and
possible
excursions
with
me
in
advance.
After
arriving
in
Labuan
Bajo,
all
participants
were
contacted
via
WhatsApp
and
invited
to
a
get
together
one
day
before
the
departure
of
the
boat
where
the
last
bureaucratic
things
could
be
done
and
the
equipment
was
prepared.
On
the
day
of
departure,
all
the
equipment
was
already
on
board
our
boat
Mimic.
Mimic
is
a
budget
boat
where
you
sleep
on
mattresses
and
not
in
cabins
like
on
the
sister
ship
Wunderpus.
But
"budget"
was
really
only
the
price.
From
the
dives
to
the
food
to
the
crew,
the
rest
was
absolutely
top
class!
The
entire
crew
around
Dolin
(our
trip
guide)
welcomed
us
warmly
at
the
port
on
the
day
of
departure.
On
departure,
there
was
a
short
briefing
on
the
schedule
of
the
four-day
tour
and
on
the
features
of
the
boat
(e.
g.
that
the
sleeping
place
is
always
prepared
by
the
crew
on
an
upper
deck
in
the
evening,
that
there
is
a
western
toilet
and
cold
water
shower
on
board,
information
about
meal
times,
information
that
coffee
and
tea
as
well
as
water
and
fruit
and
biscuits
were
available
free
of
charge
around
the
clock).
Our
group
consisted
of
6
people
from
all
over
the
world
and
7
crew
members
who
looked
after
us
24
hours
a
day.
There
was
a
really
delicious
meal
4
times
a
day.
From
breakfast
with
eggs
and
crepes
(with
jam,
Nutella
or
peanut
butter),
fresh
juice,
to
the
varied
lunch
and
dinner
(from
pasta,
meat,
various
fish
dishes,
rice
dishes,
etc.)
to
an afternoon
snack
(cake,
banana
balls,
etc.),
all
meals
were
super
tasty
and
always
large
enough
so
that
everyone
was
full.
Vegan
food
requests
were
also
catered
for.
The
dives
themselves
were
a
highlight
in
themselves.
Most
of
the
dive
sites
were
also
suitable
for
snorkellers
on
board,
but
as
a
diver
you
never
had
the
feeling
that
you
were
"at
a
snorkelling
spot"
and
not
a
real
dive
site
(this
was my
fear
at
the
beginning,
but
it
was
absolutely
unfounded).
So
it's
really
cool
that
both
snorkellers
and
divers
alike
can
have
an
absolutely
fantastic
experience.
The
snorkellers
also
had
their
own
guide.
The
dive
guides
are
very
experienced
and
start
each
dive
with
a
detailed
description
of
the
dive
site
(also
graphically).
During
the
dive,
we
were
constantly
made
aware
of
the
various
sea
creatures
such
as
different
rays,
sharks,
turtles,
etc.
And
also
on
board
there
was
a
lot
of
background
information
about
the
area
and
the
marine
life.
The
trip
also
included
3
excursions.
One
to
Pink
Beach,
one
(at
6:30
in
the
morning,
which
meant
we
were
the
first
visitors
and
had
the
park
to
ourselves!)
to
Komodo
Island
to
see
the
Komodo
monitor
lizards
and
one
to
Gili
Lawa
to
see the
sunset.
Gili
Lawa
was
offered
as
a
better
alternative
to
the
crowded
Padar
Island.
It
was
a
bit
of
a
pity
that
some
parts
of
the
islands
and
also
the
diving
spot
of
the
night
access
are
quite
littered
and
(despite
high
national
park
fees)
the
operators
of
the
stalls
or
islanders
show
relatively
little
interest
in
changing
this.
I
hope
that
the
diving
schools
will
put
more
pressure
on
the
government
in
the
future
and
organise
more
clean-ups.
All
in
all,
every
aspect
of
the
tour
was
perfect.
From
the
super
friendly
crew,
the
fantastic
participants,
the
great
dive
sites
to
the
food
and
comfort
on
board.
I
hope
to
have
the
opportunity
to
come
back
to
Komodo
in
the
winter
to
see
the
dive
sites
in
the
south
(the
north
and
central
Komodo
are
visited
in
the
summer).
Thanks
again
to
the
whole
team
for
an
unforgettable
experience!
