We have a toddler so every second weekend of the month we just live here. The staff are great and good with kids. We rented the facility for our son's third birthday. The price was very reasonable and staff very helpful. They turned on all the train horns, opened all the trains, cabooses and even the pullman car. Everyone left with a poster from the museum as a gift. We had a wonderful party thanks to Rail Giants.

This place is great. It is inside the Fairplex complex, just follow the whistles and bells to find it. They have a good collection of historic steam trains and diesel engines. Zach was fantastic, he was so knowledgeable about all of the trains. He showed me all the unique details with some good stories mixed in. Train enthusiasts should definitely stop by, so should kids (big and small) that want to ring the train bells and whistles.

Terrific museum with some massive steam locomotives and memorabilia on display. Decent size and easily doable in one hour. Be sure to ask a volunteer to allow you to blow one of the ear-shattering whistles.

It's very impressive. And to think our great-grandparents built all of this with zero technology!

If you know someone who loves trains, you cannot beat the train museum. There are trains here that are over 100 years old and the gentlemen who volunteer their time can tell you everything you want to know about them. I bring my grandson here every month

I love this museum. I really really do. I’m surprised I’m even giving this place 4 stars, even though we had a major issue. We came to go see some trains, but couldn’t find the entrance. When we called asking where it was, someone answered and told us that the museum was supposed to be open, but wasn’t because no one showed up to work. So, we saw what we could from behind a fence. It had some amazing stuff, but c’mon.

Call to verify their open on Saturday or Sunday you want to go. Went their during open hours and sign on door shoeless closed when it was 1230, and all gates closed. -3 stars for incorrect hours and wasting good part of my Saturday.

Very cool! My older kids, 11&13 liked it too! Got to blow the air / steam horns on the huge steam engines, I liked the library and the old caboose. Great information if you talk to the workers.... Very knowledgeable! Thanks

This place is awesome! If you are interested in trains and you like history of things go here. You won't regret it. David came up and started telling me about this steam engine and he knew everything. The exact mechanics of how it worked, all the historical information, the differences between other steam engines, insights into being a conductor back in the Era of steam engines. He was great at conveying the information so you stayed hooked to what he was saying, and gave further information about other railway museums and functions around the state. He was a pretty smart guy. They have a good selection of engines and cars to check out, and a cool little gift shop. I would highly recommend this experience to any train enthusiasts. It's worth it. Thanks David, you're awesome.

Interesting selection of engines, cars, and cabooses. Souvenir shop and some free magazines. Inside of Fairplex, so you have to buy that ticket first. Near the Yellow Gate.

This is a really cool place. The staff is really engaged in giving you information and history about the trains and if it's not busy you can basically get a private tour.

Great place to come to. Some of the greatest and rarest locomotives right here for all to enjoy!

  • 1/5 Jordan S. 2 years ago on Google
Extremely difficult to locate. Google does not provide accurate directions. No signs posted. Fairground employees have absolutely no clue about where this place is. Employees of the museum itself have trouble articulating good directions. What a mess!

Great place to come and see some truly historic and monumental machinery of the time long gone. Kids (well, most boys, at least) really love trains and they'll get a kick outta these mammoth locomotives here!
