Stay of a lifetime. To see so many mammals and birdlike in the rainforest in your backyard. Cottages are fully equipped including a dryer and washer in a separate facility. Walk to Lake nearby every morning was easy and John was a great support and advisor for any information. I won't forget this stay ever!

Pick up extra $$$ for our infant baby, who is not 2 years old yet. It was a "big surprise" because we did not order any baby's bed. Such a big price ($$$) was not mentioned on the website either, the owner just stole money from our bank account!!! Currently, the owner is trying to steal our money again for TV replacement, which perfectly worked till we left this cottage. The room was furnished with the old, small (24") Panasonic TV. We left the cottage and TWO DAYS later, the owner sent the letter that TV did not work. He decided to replace it using our money. But the most interesting fact that he informed us that he bought not a similar TV which had a market price of 35$, instead he bought a new SMART TV 34" for 700$!!!!! As our solicitor informed us it can be easily qualified as a theft. Definitely put this place on your blacklist. Not fair and not honest.

We have stayed all over the Atherton Tablelands and were looking for somewhere new, quiet and luxurious. We found the cottages online and decided to book two nights. We got the pioneer cottage and it was beautiful. Service was friendly from the minute we arrived, we had everything we needed and it was such a nice tropical rainforest feel. Their tag line is 'where the wildlife comes to you' and it is true, there is so much wildlife. We loved it so much we stayed another night. Would highly recommend this place.

I have never stayed in such a well stocked, perfectly maintained and spotlessly clean accommodation. Everything you could think of was provided. Then on top of that there was the peace and quite, the wildlife that visited us throughout the day and the gorgeous setting. Our 2 night stay was great but not long enough !

I just loved staying here ๐Ÿ’™. We got the very private 'Bali' cottage, but honestly would've been happy with any of them. Warm and clean with a comfy king sized bed. The peace and tranquillity, the wildlife, the gorgeous birds we got to handfeed. John and Jenny were gracious and a good laugh. Just a short drive to so many places. We will definitely be back

We specifically booked here to photograph the Victoria's Rifle bird and view their display and we were not disappointed. We stayed in the Pioneer Lodge but the light at the back of the Beach-hut cottage was much better for photography. Since no one was booked in there at the time, John and Jenny let us use the deck for our photography. Our cottage was immaculate and had everything we needed for our breakfasts and dinners. The onsite laundry was also very convenient. It's such a great experience as you are really in the rainforest and being able to listen to the birds and watch the wildlife was fantastic. We photographed many birds, along with the musky rat-kangaroos and pademelons. John provided plenty of live mealworm and banana top ups for us for the birds. Highly recommended!!

What an amazing experience! Enjoying the well equipment and themed accommodation is like having your own private part of the rain forest. The joy of feeding the birds and animals was our highlight. The hosts John and Jenny offer a warm welcome and plenty of helpful advise. Thank you.

So quiet and peaceful. The birds literally eat out of your hand. Great fireplace and spa bath as well as a comfortable king size bed. Cannot recommend it more for a quiet getaway surrounded by rainforest.

We had the most wonderful stay at Crater Lakes! I was in absolute heaven hanging out with the birds on our balcony every day. It was a beautiful experience and one I will remember forever. Thank you John and Jenny! Your hospitality is first class. Our cottage was spotlessly clean and so well thought out. The breakfast hamper was a winner ๐Ÿ˜€ If you are a birder and hoping to convert your significant other to your favourite pastime then look no further ๐Ÿ˜‰ My husband absolutely loved this place too. Our stay brought me so much joy! I did not want to leave and cannot wait to return!!

We spent 8 peaceful days in the Bali cottage at the end of May 2014. What a wonderful experience! John and Jenny were perfect hosts, nothing was too much trouble for them. As our flight was slightly delayed we arrived at 8:30pm with very few supplies and greatly appreciated the warm welcome and a beautiful complimentary breakfast hamper. The cottage was lovelyโ€ฆ beautifully decorated, extremely comfortable and well equipped and offered complete privacy. The king sized bed was very comfortable and the absolute peace and tranquility ensured that our sleep quality was brilliant. It was lovely to wake up to the sounds of the rainforest birds every morning, and to sit on the veranda taking in the ambience of the World Heritage rainforest. It was cool at night and we greatly enjoyed the log fire. The cottages are a short walk away from Lake Eacham and the circuit walk around the lake was lovely. We were fortunate enough to witness the Victoria's Riflebird do his display almost every day on our verandah which was such a treat, and were visited by a large variety of birds throughout the day. Our overall experience was excellent! We will be back and are very much looking forward to our next visit!

A wonderful experience being immersed in the rainforest literally. The cabins although reasonably close to one another were very private and comfortable with the wood fired heater getting a workout every night. The birdlife was amazing with regular visits from all the local rainforest birds and a special performance from the rifle bird to top it off. We found the location perfect to be able to explore the surrounding area and we felt we could have stayed longer than the three nights we had booked.

As a famous Australian movie says โ€œhowโ€™s the serenity?โ€ So peaceful and tranquil. You are forced to just stop and relax. Beautiful Australian rainforest all around with Australian wildlife at your doorstep. Hand feeding the birds is a nice way to spend your spare time in such peaceful surroundings. Totally recommend for everyone from near and far to just come and experience The Serenity.
