This is a great park! Plenty of hiking trails. The views of the St Louis River are amazing! A bike trail that you can take into Duluth or the other direction to Hinckley. We stayed at one of the walk-in sites. It was very secluded. We were really happy with it. We were here late summer so the river was pretty quiet. It would be fun to see it in the spring. There is white water rafting nearby too. Definitely more fun in the spring.

Overall, we had an excellent visit. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. Very high quality and well maintained camp sites. Even in the pouring rain, we stayed nice and dry. The showers were clean and has warm water. The trails around Jay Cooke State Park are truly breathtaking, but the hike can be a challenge. We had a blast exploring the Carlton Trail which featured a fair bit of navigating around fallen trees due to the heavy winter snowfall last last year. This was well stated on their website.

We visited Jay Cooke in early August with our dogs. It was a beautiful park with lots of trails. We went on a Sunday and it was pretty busy and parking was scarce. The suspension bridge was fun with some great views. The dogs did not like it. Be careful once you cross the bridge, there’s poison ivy all over the place. We walked along the trail next to the river and it was mostly tree covered and a little muddy. Overall, we had a great time and would come back to explore even further.

My fiancé and I live in Des Moines, IA and saw this beautiful park online and just knew we had to make the trip to go camping. Such a breath-taking view, such a peaceful experience. We even saw our first Beaver. Camping was very easy and organized. The rangers were all so nice and positive and overall happy. Very quiet, very secluded space. So sad to be leaving but loved creating memories here and will add this to the list of camping sites for us to venture back to.

Lovely state park that allows dogs. The trails were extremely quiet when we went in October to see the fall colors. There aren't a whole lot of trails, but what is there is well maintained and there is clear signage of where to go at each turn point. Most hikes start after the bridge.

We camped here for the first time (three couples, two kids under 3, and a dog) and it was a great mix of facilities and things to do. The state park has beautiful trails and we enjoyed a lot of time on the small beaches skipping rocks and enjoying the weather. The camp site was able to fit two tents easily with a water spigot nearby. The porta potties near our site were much cleaner than I expected and the bathroom facilities (showers, toilets, etc) were clean, updated, and functional. Staff were also very helpful at the campsite office with the ability to purchase ice, firewood, and other miscellaneous items. An easy 5 stars!

Like all the beautiful things, they made your work for it. The swinging bridge is stable enough you can barely feel the swing in a breezy summer days, after you pass the bridge, you will need to do a little climbing and hiking on the rocks/narrow trail, to reach the real breathtaking beauty, and trust me, it'll all worth it!! That water is great for your skin, btw..

This park was absolutely breathtaking, I can't even begin to describe the amount of beauty it truly holds. It is definitely a place I will be visiting more frequently and hope to explore all 50 miles of hiking trails. They also have a campground for family visits. I would recommend this place over and over again!

BEAUTIFUL St Louis River running through the park with lots of waterfalls and a swinging bridge. A MUST SEE PARK if in the area. very nice campgrounds, We'll kept sites and a bathhouse that is pristine. Very dog friendly however they must stay on a leash at all times

Such a great place to get away from the normal hustle and bustle of daily life!!! I don't get to this park as often as I would like to, but I am never disappointed when I do get a chance to visit. It is very peaceful and beautiful. The only thing better than an adventure around the trails of this park is an adventure around the trails with my camera in hand.

Nice place for a hike. The suspension footbridge gives a great view of this unique valley. Would like to see a formal trail along the river instead needing to walk the road. Visitor center with warm fire was delightful.

Very cool place to hike around. Water views everywhere on the trails and the bridge walking across the river the views are amazing of the St Louis river. Lots of birds and wild life. Again the water views of the river. So amazing. Specially in the spring!

Great, well-kept camp sites, flat pads for tent camping. The bathrooms are clean, and they take care of them as well. There is also showers at the park if needed, as well as drinkable water. The park is absolutely beautiful! The bridge is really cool. My kids will sometimes complain on a 10 min walk that their feet hurt. Yet on a 2.5 hour hike around Jay Cooke, they were just having an absolute blast! We have been here twice now for my daughter's birthday. I highly recommend it!

Maybe it's the same for others, but I've tended to overlook this park well I'm on my way to the boundary Waters or the North shore... But if you forgive the fact that you don't have expansive lake views, I think it is at least as beautiful as parks on the north shore. Also, there are more maples than some other north shore parks so at least this fall the colors there were more vibrant than what we saw at Split Rock and Gooseberry Falls. Definitely worth a stop, if not more time!
