A beautiful hostel in a great location in Killarney town centre. I stayed for a night in a 6-bed mixed dorm and it was a very comfortable and enjoyable experience. The bed and bathroom were spotless, the staff were friendly and helpful and the extra amenities, from the kitchen/breakfast to the gardens and sitting room were an excellent bonus. It was great value for what I paid and I would gladly stay again. I would highly recommend The Black Sheep if you're looking for a lovely stay in Killarney.

The Shower. I've been to over 100 accommodations across Europe, and the shower in this hostel was the WORST. Nearly catastrophe. 1. Fixed shower head, which I hate most. But that's fine, it is bearable. Cos I understand it is not something that can be fixed or improved. 2. Extremely cramped. You can't even stretch your arms. I couldn't even dry my body since the shower room was too small, but it was still bearable. I AM ABLE TO understand the hostel can not fix it. 3. No way will you be able to put your things anywhere in the shower room. No shelves, no hangers, but just the dirty floor. I asked one staff 'Could you place at least a tiny chair or something in order to put my stuff on that', and she said just 'No', without any explanation or excuse. I think this point can not be tolerated. It is the only thing that you CAN improve your shower room, and you immediately refuse! 4. Furthermore, the water was too hot. It was more than boiling! And you can not adjust the temperature, but just bear it. And my skin couldn't do it, so I got burned. 5. And lastly, but not least, on the last day I stayed here, I couldn't use water at all. I guess something to do with the use of water was broken, so I could not use any water there. Not only for the shower, but also for the toilet!

This hostel creates such a warm community atmosphere. I’m not usually the kind to reach out and talk to new people, but the way the communal spaces are so inviting in this place, you just make new friends without even trying. The staff is very welcoming, patient and helpful, and the rooms had everything you need. Very thoughtfully designed bunks, comfortable and private. Especially loved the kitchen, felt just like cooking at home. This place is a must visit that I’ll definitely be coming back to!

One of the best hostels in Ireland! Loved the energy of this place. Very comfortable and has great amenities. Their fresh farm bread is absolutely amazing! Great breakfast. Not sure if they had non dairy milk option. Staff is very kind and helpful to suggest things around town. They have a coffee shop right next door/attached which is convenient.

This is an amazing hostel. The beds are comfortable and even though it is a hostel where you sleep with multiple people in a room, you don't notice it while sleeping there because you have your own little bunk that you can close with a curtain. The kitchen is also great and the staff is extremely kind and helpfull. A hostel where i can actually say that i am sad to leave. Would give 6 stars if i could.

The best hostel in Ireland. I am a 76 years old and disabled female. They made sure I had a bottom bunk and an outlet for my oxygen concentrator.

Minutes away from the Killarney national park, comfortable beds, great coffee, friendly staff, and a fleet of resident pups - what more could you ask?? For anyone hesitant about the hostel experience, this is a great entry point. Will definitely be staying here next time I'm in Killarney!

Only visited the coffee shack part of the hostel. Very friendly staff, had a really nice hot chocolate and sat in the "living room". It was warm and comfortable and had a really nice aesthetic. Would definitely go again.

Best hostel I've ever been! The staff is super nice, the living rooms and the kitchen are awesome. The location is right downtown. If you're leaving here without making new friends you probably shouldn't visit hostels. Thank you Jesus 🙏

One of the best stays I've ever had! If you're looking for a place where you want to feel at home instantly, this is it. The hostel is unbelievably cute and the staff is extremely welcoming. The little pawed friends are adorable as well, and the garden is just the cherry on top. The common room is the coziest and it really does bring the entire experience together. It makes the hostel feel like more than just a bed, but a place to really hang out and enjoy. I'll gladly go back here if I find myself in Killarney again!

Great location, great coffee shack but poor cleanliness overall in the hostel - even as the mopping was being done the water was stinking as they were cleaning. For a room in December, it was totally freezing. The bedsheets were torn and tattered with lint residue, not the best. Humid and musty air in the room itself but at the same time freezing - first time I have experienced this. Unfortunately when I expressed my disappointment and wish to check out early, the receptionist noted to me “this is not a hotel, this is a hostel” - have the standards fallen so far? Great for just a one night place to rest your head but I give it two stars as I can imagine for sole budget travelers they may enjoy and appreciate the offer but I believe even with the price the standard and cleanliness could have been improved.

My friends and I had such a good stay! Staff is super friendly, the kitchen has 4 stoves which makes it really convenient to cook. We appreciated that breakfast was included and that the beds had individual curtains. The whole place has a really positive and inspiring vibe, loved the little back garden too.

RUN AWAY! THIEF! My parents booked a room in January 23 for May 23. The received an email in French confirming the booking. 4 days later the sent an email in French to cancel the booking. The hostel never answered and finally the hostel is charging them for the room. After 2 phone call and 2 emails without any response, the hostel pretends that they didn't understood the cancelation email in French (they never replied to ask for an explanation in English) and is being rude and also making fun of my parents who are 67 and 69 years old. So you're dealing with an hostel who makes zero effort to communicate with his non English speaking clients and is just willing to charge for no reason people who cancelled 5 months before their booking.

The coffee is absolutely delicious - only 1-2 baristas at a time so not a place to rush through. Very well done drinks. Limited options but tasty pastries. They open at 7 but served us a little before opening time since they were ready and this was unexpected but really appreciated.

The Black Sheep Hostel was a great place to stay for two nights. The place is creatively decorated, loved the art and the unique style. The staff was super nice with a great sense of humor, and the atmosphere welcoming and warm. The rooms and common areas were cosy and clean. Would absolutely recommend the place for any traveler who wants to visit Killarney. Almost an experience in itself!

I've stayed in this lovely hostel for one night only, but I wish it would have been more. The staff is very welcoming, helpful and friendly! The rooms are very affordable, clean, the beds comfortable, and the common areas tidy. There is a large kitchen with stoves, fridges and all (!) the necessary kitchen utensils. Somehow they've managed to keep that area and the tools very clean. From the beginning, there was an atmosphere of respect, communication and understanding in this hostel. The open common rooms and dining areas as well as all the tips from the staff made that very clear. They offer some services, such as renting out bikes (10€ a half-day, 15€ a full day), towels (2€), or just helping you book an activity. There is also breakfast in the morning comprised of cereals and bread which seemed like self-made soda bread. And, of course, they have a nice coffee shop in the same building, which also serves coffee to guests in the morning. Thanks for the good time! Keep up the great work:)

It's a great place to stay with lots of room to move around, friendly and helpful staff, comfortable beds, clean accommodations, lots of restaurants, pubs, shops, bus and taxi service just minutes walking distance, with continental breakfast and a good size kitchen to cook with plenty of fridge space, and a coffee place connected to the hostel. My only qualm was the lockers are not entirely secure as all it takes is a screwdriver to open any one of them up which the staff is aware of. Despite that everything else makes up for it and I would definitely stay here again, although I would hope this relatively small issue would be resolved before the next visit.

The hostel was beautiful and some of the staff were nice. There were not enough toilets and showers which made it difficult and unpleasant. Also the showers were really small and there was no room to put personal equipment. The common space was likable. The hostel is close to the park which is the main advantage of the hostel. I loved that the facility encourages environmental protection

This is one of THE best hostels I've ever been to! The staff is so friendly, the vibe is on-point (great for creatives and free spirits), the rooms had a lot of character (dorm style), the coffee is SO GOOD, the garden in the back is amazing, and it's in a super great location. Also, my partner and I came with our bicycles, and we were able to park them in the back, in the garden, no problems! Highly recommend it!

Just amazing!!! Genuinely one of the best hostels I've stayed in for my travels. The beds are very comfortable, with curtains covering them so you feel very private. They have lights, plugs and shelves also which is fantastic. The breakfast is large and free which was much appreciated, and the entire hostel is just gorgeous and homey. I loved the garden with the veggies, polytunnel with people singing Trad music in, and they have ducks (and their free eggs in the morning), and 3 rescue dogs who sleep in open suitcase beds. 100% will be back, thankyou so much for the stay!

Clean, friendly and wonderfully quirky. The welcome was beautifully Irish, the staff super helpful and kind. Great vibe and great coffee! The dogs and chickens are a bonus! The best hostel I've been in by a Country mile. Highly, highly recommended. Thank you. Nicole x

By far the best hostel I've ever stayed at, all members of staff were very helpful and the beds were almost hotel quality. The vegetable garden is also great and the chickens are fun! Also the dogs are very nice. If I have one advice/negative comment I would say to improve the shower on the first floor because it is a bit cramped, but other than that totally fantastic!

👍 Lovely little cafe in the centre of Killarney. Just off the main street so there isn't as many people walking past and is a bit more space which I liked. I got a tasty Reuben sandwich. I really enjoyed it. However it did only have 2 slices in it which I thought was a little stingy. Usually in a sand...
