If you are looking for some great Irish music and dancing you will not be disappointed. The food was typical for pub food, had Guinness pie and banana pie. Pie was a bit sweet but strew was good. You come for the show and it was excellent. Amazing dancing and the band was really enjoyable. A great stop if you are in the Dublin area.

An amazing place to spend a good night at! The food is amazing, the staff is nice and the atmosphere is always good, often with live music! Currently they have a food truck outside what adds to this value. Could recommend it from the bottom of my heart! Thank you <3

This place totally deserves its reputation. So magic and full of character. A must see if you are in this area. Its worth a drive.. Guinness pie is great but my favourite is a slow cooked lamb shank. It is just amazing

One of the best traditional Irish gastro pub, you can both enjoy the place, music and food. Staff is nice, plenty of parking space at the outside. My favourite is champagne duck but all other food is amazing as well.

This is the best pub I have ever visited!! In a gorgeous setting in Ireland. Its in the middle of no where up some hills, with the advantages of fabulous views. This all adds to the charm. The original stone building has been preserved, enhancing and preserving all the original characteristics and features. The interior is clad from floor to ceiling with Irish memorabilia, it's like stepping into a museum. The food was was home made and fresh, some of the best seafood I have ever had. I highly recommend the mussels and fish pie. There is also a live singer on every evening, which creates a fantastic atmosphere. I can't wait to come back 😁

It was an experience, definitely! The interior of the place and generally the atmosphere is incredible, feels like some another world. Lots of tiny rooms old style with huge amount of people, each centimeter is decorated with something, in the big room there is a small stage for performances, life music... Nothing romantic in this place, so it's definitely not a choice for a date, but to visit as a tourist, with friends, take pictures, enjoy tasty traditional meals and all that atmosphere is truly worth it! So don't expect any luxury service or some high restaurant standards and you'll enjoy your time on maximum! Prepare your camera, there are plenty of photo zones 😉!

Overall very disappointing, travelled far to see what the hyped is. Came here with two friends. Place is very vintage and decorated really good, however the service here is shocking. We were just thrown to any table, server didn’t even ask if we wanted water or any beverages, got handed chowder and there was more chowder around the little bowl than there was in the actual bowl. Tiny portions. No napkins given, no salt, pepper nothing. Paying €10 for a tiny bowl of chowder with one miserable slice of bread. Definitely do not recommend. Disappointing. Too hyped up. Clearly greed and portion control overrules the standard portions here.

A very good traditional Irish Pub. A great place to spend time with friends. We were a group of 4 and definitely had a great evening at this place. The food was yum, the atmosphere and live music were awesome. I have to mention the luxury vanilla pod ice-cream is simply amazing.

Amazing food and drinks. Great atmosphere and the great traditional Irish music . The kids menu is fantastic! My kids are very fussy to eat, so I ordered just one meal for the 2 of them and they ate all the food in the plate and asked for more😲 Definitely, myself and my family highly recommended it. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Today was the last chance of having food in this fantastic place. The outdoor facilities are perfect, tables well sheltered and heaters kept us warm. Temperature measured before going to restrooms, sanitizers on each table, lovely atmosphere with halloween decor, friendly staff and food delicious as always. Made my day.🖤

Food was the best I've had in ages! Was a little limited on vegetarian options but the Lentil & Roast vegetable one pot was absolutely delicious! Atmosphere was so perfect. 100% would go again.

Fantastic local pub with decent food fresh pints friendly staff and amazing atmosphere. This is must visit place once in Ireland. Make sure you have a good look around to feel the real climate of this gastro pub. It gets very busy so booking is recommended. Only downside was cleanliness... if you keep so many gadgets and memorabilia in your premises make sure you take spider webs of off them especially in rooms where you serve food...

Johnnie Fox’s is always a good idea! Went with friends after a hike and the food was very good. We shared the ‘Fresh seasonal oysters’ and the ‘Sizzling skillet of prawns’. Both were fresh and delicious. For mains we got the ‘Battered fish and chips’, the ‘Roast chicken supreme’ and the ‘Fox’s seafood pie’. Mains were not as good as the starters but portion sizes are good and we enjoyed the meal!

We booked the Hooley show and had the perfect family evening and event in the middle of the Wicklow Mountains. The shuttle bus brought us directly from the hotel (Clayton Dublin) to the pub. The food was delicious, from starters to desserts. Service was super fast and courteous. The show with live music and traditional Irish (tap) dance is a must see. We definitely recommend this show to everybody who wants to see, taste, hear and feel the pure Irish life.

Always such a nice place, with a good sea cooking. It's a real pleasure to spend a Sunday there. Special tribute to Odette, who served us with kindness and smile : thank you very much, you were as sunny as the weather outside !...

Selling a leprechaun version of Ireland to tourists. Area has been built up to the point that it doesn't feel secluded anymore.

  • 5/5 Robert F. 3 years ago on Google
Worth the drive for the seafood and traditional home cooked Irish food. I’ve asked for additional veg or potatoes which arrive quickly by professional, friendly staff. While the place looks great, the only thing I don’t like is the small, old table and chairs which can impact on your experience if you have too many dishes on a table for 4. But one gets over it quick enough... good quality ingredients, nicely cooked and good value.

The best authentic Irish pub I've been in, the food is first class, drinks selection outstanding and the Guinness just the best! Great Irish music with good craic. Staff really do go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Would definitely visit again. Make sure you book your table online in advance!

You will have one of the best nights of your life. The food is perfect, the staff are very helpful and polite, even though there are a lot of meals to get out. The entertainment is out of this world. Fantastic Irish bands, and Irish dancers If you are considering a visit to Johnny Fox's, do it.. it will be one of the best nights you've had.

Pleasant old style traditional Irish pub in wonderful location with live music. Ideal for visitors to Ireland looking for a taste of Irish rural life in years gone by. Probably not a regular haunt for the Irish based pub goer.

My best place to eat and enjoy myself with Family ! This is the place to go if your foreigner family want to understand why the Irish are so special. Thank you for managing the Covid situation as well because the lasagna, shepherd pie & fish pie are just amazing. Happy Dad&Mum, happy kids...happy family!

This is a fab night out, we went for the Hooley show. It was a Monday night opted for the transport to collect us. So glad we did it’s a trek but well worth it. The food is amazing, all fresh, hot and very tasty. The young waitresses all did such a great job, the drinks kept coming with no delay. The music was so good, you may expect a half cut fiddle player sat on a stool but no these musicians were all so talented and interactive ensuring we all joined in. The Irish dancers were such good, the young boy deserves a lot of credit, I was even gently persuaded to dance on stage with them. Such s memorable night we will never forget, if I could give more stars I would. This is such a great value night, well done all and thank you 🙏

Large overflow car park for the pub, fairly sloping but ok on chocks (we stopped over in our MoHo). The pub is a fab, bustling place with live music. Staff are all very friendly and helpful, the food is delicious too. Less than an hour's drive to Dublin port.

Went there for Hooleys night. Great evening, I really enjoyed it. Highly recomended for anyone who is looking for a bit of irish music and dance. Food was great, a bit too much of it, but everything was tasty. Menu is limited but still it feels like there is option for everybody. Lovely pub, some might day tourist trap, but I really think it’s worth the visit.

Booked a table for 11, table was nicely tucked away where we could all chat and hear each as there was a band playing. Great service, food was so filling and the portion sizes were large! Probably shouldn't have got the entree (seafood chowder) as I had now limited the amount I could eat for my mains (lamb shank) - either way what I could eat was delicious! Good Irish pub with all the trinkets.

Yes it's a tourist pub, I'm not a tourist but often bring visiting friends and family up for some food and a few drinks, never fails to disappoint. Food is always fresh and delicious, staff friendly and helpful. Lamb stew is my go to dish and the Guiness here is great!

Enjoyed stopping in Johnnie fox’s a few months ago for a nice lunch after a hike. The place was very busy but we got a good table after just a few minutes. The chowder was super rich and creamy and so were the mussels - very thick cream based sauce. Much thicker than what I’m used to but good!

I booked the dinner with show in advance. The evening was lovely with good dinner and music. Musicians are very good, the dancers didn’t look professional but the performances was ok. Dancers were mostly kids in their 12 - 16 and one older couple. The bar itself is nice decorated and pretty big. Our waiter was friendly. Cons: If you use the shuttle service than you have to wait until 12 am to go back to Dublin. It’s quite long time, because dinner starts at 7:30 pm and by 10:30 pm show is done. Dinner menu includes tea and coffee and our waiter confirmed it, but we were charged for tea even through. When we asked why tea was added to the check, person who does the transaction said it’s a specialty that doesn’t make any sense … Also the person who brought us the check (not our waiter) was very pushy about tips even though it’s optional in Ireland. Another downside shuttles service was included in our check even though I didn’t book it through the bar websites. Then there was a problem to remove this change from the check, we had to wait for the manager to solve this problem.

That pub is always worth the travel! The staff and the food are just superb! Due to a mistake we had to wait 30 minutes for our reserves table but they were really keen to get us to the table ASAP. In the end the dessert went on the house, because of the 30 minutes wait. If you like good food and the best Banoffipie all over Ireland, you must go to Johnnie Fox's. I recommend to bock a table in advance, as it's a really busy restaurant, but with great food and staff

Definitely if you are planning to visit Ireland and if you are looking for experience of traditional pubs, add Johnnie Fox's Pub on your List. Our niece that lives in Dublin took us there during this Halloween season of October 2023, and it was an unique, fun and delicious experience! Considered one of the oldest pubs in Ireland and also the highest Pub in Ireland, you will find many rooms totally decorated with Irish pictures and objects as an museum, also you will find typical Irish music and much more. The food was very delicious and you can find a wide selection of Irish beer. We tried a typical seafood Chowder, Beef and Guinness pie and mussels, and for dessert a delicious Fox's banoffi cream pie. Honestly, it was one of the most fun pubs we went in Ireland. As a last suggestion, we went directly after a walk in Wicklow Mountains Park, which was really worth it, and then we went to the Pub without booking. They were very helpful and found a really cool spot for us, but depending on the season, especially during Halloween festivals and Saint Patrick, we suggest calling and making a reservation if possible. The price was surprisingly reasonable. In October 2023 - We were in 3 people and we ate very well, and with drinks, dessert and tips included, we didn't spend more than 70 euros. Usually back in Montreal we spend it in two people, without dessert and the same Irish unique experience!

(Translated by Google) This is a great place. But what exactly is it? - Office pub? - Restaurant? - Pub? - Seafood? - A museum? Maybe it's all in one. Very good. On the wall are pictures of celebrities who all visited here. Presidents, astronauts, rock musicians, etc. All the food was delicious, let alone Irish beers and whiskeys. The bus from the city center leaves here quite often. I recommend it with a good heart! I can't wait to come back here again. (Original) Ez egy szuper hely. De pontosan mi is ez? - Írkocsma? - Étterem? - Pub? - Seafood? - Múzeum? Talán ez mind egyben. Nagyon jó. A falon hírességek képei, akik mind ellátogattak ide. Elnökök, űrhajósok, rock zenészek stb. Minden kaja finom volt, az Ír sörökről és whiskykről már ne is beszéljünk. A busz a belvárosból elég sűrűn kijár ide. Jó szívvel ajánlom! Alig várom, hogy ismét visszatérjek ide.

This is the highest pub in entire Ireland. The place is glencullen. Pub has extremely good. food and drinks. The liquor coffee is too good and we have visited it 5 times till now. The road to pub is amazing and the ambience around and inside pub is mind blowing. Must visit. Best is its only 20 kms from Dun Laoghaire.

(Translated by Google) It is very picturesque and is full of antiques. There is also live music, not now for covid emergency. I did not like the fish very much, both because it was not fresh and because of the type of seasoning used, very different from Italian cuisine. Using cream cheese with fish. I think it is better to eat meat.
