The place is nice the food is wonderful but the service is a bit bland and kind of makes me feel unwanted and the location is peaceful quite and a wonderful atmosphere
Lovely place in the middle of natural setting. The room was fresh and clean. The menu isn’t to great though especially for veg based guests there’s literally nothing there but Gladys made a plan for me🤞🏽 thanks Gladys and the kitchen team for the nice crispy chips that you made me. The Greek salad was fresh & crispy 👏🏽👏🏽
The gardens and buildings are beautiful and reallt well maintained. The rooms are clean and neat but unfortunately some non-critical lights in our room were not working. I didn't mind that but I was very disappointed with the hospitality and generally the staff behaviour. We weren't greeted once during our stay. We were awoken with a loud leaf blower directly outside our window at 07h15. And also got to hear loudly from the kitchen how the cooks didn't want to make us breakfast so we ended up leaving without eating at all. I would love to visit again purely for the scenery but would definitely not recommend it for an event where you'd depend a lot on the staff.
We stayed at River Meadow over a weekend for birthday celebrations. Location: The setting and grounds are beautiful between the trees. My son enjoyed the chickens, calfs and sheep. Room: Rooms were clean and had what we needed Food. The food is was delicious Service: Check in was at 2pm we arrived at 2:30pm and still had to wait an additional 40 minutes for our room to be ready. Breakfast was advertised as starting at 7 when we arrived at 7:30. They had not finished setting up the buffet station. There was no hot water and I had to ask for milk for my son's cereal. The pool was lovely but loungers were not setup. Based on the 4 star rating of the manor their service did not live up to my expectations. We however still had a pleasant stay.
The staff is amazing and housekeeping cleaned my room even though it was in late in the day. The food is great. My room was beautiful but always had something missing. On the day of check in I only had 1 towel with no bath mat to step on once out of the shower. day 2 I didn't get more water and the last day they left the cleaning rag on the chair and didn't bring more toilet paper.
Came across this beautiful venue online and wanted to book. Called in for a quote. The lady I spoke to seemed friendly and was going to send a quote, waited and nothing was sent. It was a quote for a few people, lunch. Called back to try and ask about the quote but the lady who then spoke , seemed very disinterested and annoyed. I can’t imagine how it must be , that a potential client asking for a quote could be dismissed in that manner. Very unpleasant experience which leaves a bitter taste . It’s very sad that people look for jobs that they hate doing. As a business owner too, I would assume this is not how the owner would speak to his/her potential clients. That lady definitely didn’t represent the business well. I would’ve opted to call the place directly and lay this complaint but because I probably won’t be able to get to management, I’ve been left with no choice but to comment here.
Overall, I enjoyed hosting our Company year start function here. The Venue is lovely and the Kitchen is fantastic, we really enjoyed the food. The execution on small details and service were not up to par. The staff, although incredibly friendly need training and let the venue down. Availability of clean cutlery at our lunches and breakfasts required constant requests. We received our lunch without glasses or cutlery twice. This would otherwise be a five.
We received a very friendly and welcoming reception. Was a very peaceful place to sleep and overnight. Beautiful gardens and buildings.
We used this venue for two business conferences. I did not use the rooms, which is why I did not rate it, but from what I saw, I think it would be great. The venue surroundings are farm like, and the venue itself has well manicured gardens. An old feel to the buildings giving it a sort of characteristic charm. My special dietary requirements were catered for very professionally, with the same standard of meal that others had. On nice weather days, lunch is served outdoors under the trees, which is really nice. There's ample parking too..
If you are looking for a peaceful, quiet place to stay...... keep looking! We were woken after midnight by a soundcheck for a function! After we complained it went quiet, only to resume at 6h45 that morning! You can tell that this was once a lovely place, but neglect has stepped in and small things are falling apart. Sad to see. We regret booking for a week and had to endure the consequences.
