A lovely place with bespoke, basic but charming rooms/chalets which are full of character. Great service from all staff from start to finish. Buffet breakfast and dinner, both very good. A 15 minutes drive from Mikumi National Park so an excellent base for a safari there.

We had an amazing safari trip in Mikumi and Ruaha, booked via Camp Bastian. They arranged a guide for us, who picked us up in Dar es Salaam and drove us the 10 days. Everything was arranged, including food and park fees, so we did not have to think about anything. Camp Bastian itself is also a very relaxing and nice place to stay, with all facilities you need after a game drive in Mikumi National Park.

This is a nice place. Specially for tourists. Swimming pool is really nice, but food and drinks are pricey when you know real prices..

Lodge with camp grounds in the back. You get toilet/shower and a braai area, power is available with long extension. They have a large pool area, bar and restaurant and help you arrange tours to nearby Mikumi NP.

What a fantastic place! We had the best service from we could have hoped for. Camp Bastian arranged the return taxi from Dar es Salaam for a part or our group and the bus to Mafinga for others. We stayed two night in a very spacious bungalow and they arranged a game drive on the second day. The place was squeeky clean, the food was very tasty and local, the pool was refreshing and the staff friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this place for anyone who passes through or is planning a visit to Mikumi National Park. Asante sana, Gabriel and the entire Camp Bastian staff.

+ very nice clean and big rooms. Even the bathroom was very large + very nice and clean environment + for food they have a small buffet with everything what you need. The cook is there as well to put it in your plate. They didn't had any issues preparing something special gluten free for me (inform them in advance, best in Swahili) + there is staff every where to keep the place neat + they had candles on every table lit, which looks very nice 🕯 + the check in was very welcoming + they have a very nice and spacious garden with a big swimming pool next to a small bar 🍷 - the water in the swimming pool was smelly and old - they had some mosquitoes outside - when turning on the toaster the lights of the whole place dimmed down 😅

Very nice ambience, family friendly and superb service. Everyone is very nice and makes you feel welcome especially Getrude and The manager Gabriel. I would highly recommend. Very friendly management who went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable.

Outstanding place! Very beautiful houses, gardens. The pool is clean and with warm water. They have a very sweet frog that comes every night near the pool and makes sounds from time to time. The breakfast is nice. The dinner is interesting and delicious. The personal is very kind and helpful. I absolutely recommend the place. The visit to the masai village which is close there makes the experience more magic. :)

Only one night but they were Verry helpfull. Pool was good and clean. Slept in a tent so we can’t say anything of the chalets.

We had gotten really sick with food poisoning before arriving at the camp. So the owner decided to upgraded us from a tent to a house, and the personnel was attending to all our needs, including having a doctor come by fro support, and let us overstay the checkout times. So wonderful management and personnel, and a big shame i didn't get to enjoy the amazing facilities they have (pool, bar etc)

Spent a day and night at the camp before going on a game drive at Mikumi National Park, it has a natural, tranquil environment with friendly and cooperative staff with a nice pool to cool off!!!

Good food, friendly staff and great roomes! My boyfriend was sick and he got some medicine from the boss. Within 2 days he was feeling better and we did the Safari one day later. This wasn't a problem at all. Our Safari drivers (Huseni and Amiri) were awesome and we had a great driver(Saleem) who drove us back and forth from Dar es Salaam. We felt very safe and he was a very nice guy. Thanks everyone at Camp Bastion!

Excelente safari experience. Camp Bastian is a simple, very clean lodge with helpful staff & good food. Jacob is an experienced guide who puts all his knowledge & interest in finding the animals that mover around 3,500 sq km of the park. We saw 4 of the big 5 animals. Salim our driver from Dar es Salam to Mikumi & back is an excelent driver. His driving skills got us out of a terrible trafic jam when we reached Dar es Salam after an 8hr drive. An amazing experience to be repeated.

We spend 2 nights at this hotel with my wife and 2 children. The room was clean and we were upgraded to a large room. Gabriel who is the owner is very kind and friendly. Many thanks for him and also all the other staff ( reception, waitress, restaurant chef, …). We really enjoyed our stay. And thank you again Gabriel to arrange me the transfert to dar es salam. Location is good, just 5-10 mins from entrance gate of Mikumi National Park. Single bedroom rooms are too small. 4 bedroom chalets are spacious but have only one single washroom which is very inconvenient if you are travelling with 2-3 families. No room has air conditioner which is a set back looking at the property. Breakfast has very limited options for vegetarians. Cycles are parked at reception but most of it are not maintained. So it’s just a talking point in amenities. At dinner time, option of Ala carte is not available. They force to take buffet which is not appropriate. In our case, we went to another hotel to take dinner.

Personell is kind, beautiful area, good location. Food is really good and I don’t mind the buffee style, because then I can choose what I want and how much I want. Clean pool and nice view. The air conditions in the rooms are poor, I had to turn off the air rotator because it was too loud for me and couldn’t sleep with it and then had to sweat all night. But that’s alright, because the weather is hot and I chose to come and experience it. Wi-Fi is super fast and available all the time.

👍👍 This is a beautiful, well run lodge. The rooms were excellent, the air conditioner worked well, and there was plenty of hot water with good water pressure. The meals were outstanding - the equal of any western restaurant. The manager and Reuben, and all of the staff really looked after us very well....
