Good place to take kids to discover the variety of the animal world, as well as some mineralogy. The admission cost is more than affordable, and the exhibits are of high quality and maintained with care. You also get to learn about the history of the Bulgarian scientists who took great care in founding and enriching this institution.

Very much worth the 10 BGN entry fees. 4 floors of interesting displays that are also in English. Would recommend.

A really cool museum to go to and worth the money to enter. You could spend nearly all day here with a curious child or nature lover. The exhibits are informative and detailed. Card machine wasn’t working but the lady chased us down the street to offer us a way to pay via the app.

This was much better than expected. They have a huge collection of animals with some really impressive and interesting specimens. Good visit for a rainy morning or afternoon.

This is one of my favorite museums in Sofia. I've visited it many times. After the renovation it is very pleasant. If you want to see taxidermy it is a cool place to visit and has many species.

Great museum with a big variety of taxidermist animals. Great way to see nature up close. Also very friendly staff!

Great collection! Audioguide is a bit confused by order (and missing numbers), so if you got one - expect tiny additional quest about finding first item on the floor))) The museum has minerals section (with nice UV case), birds floor (lot of which are probably bigger than your children), two-headed turtle, mammal floor (monk seals story made me cry, literally; zubr story is a long-term scar on heart though). Got to insect floor already exhausted a bit, but or really worth your while (for example water bug which hunts frogs) and the top of the cake is giant seashell (literally sink-size), couple of omars that could chew your leg off and the Nautilus Pompilius.

Such a great museum! 1st floor was mainly local minerals and Crystals from different towns in Bulgaria (e.g Galena from Madan) and from other countries, beautiful!. Next 3 floors are all about preserved animals (mostly), birds, livestock, reptiles, Mammals etc. Last floor has a fun interactive exhibit of bugs, A beautiful display of sea shells, corals etc. Sadly but part of our lives in 2020 they also have an important display about zoonotic infections and Covid-19.

A fantastic museum spread over 4 floors, each focusing on a different aspect of nature. Cost less than 10 lev for the 2 of us (my son got in as a student without any challenges). We spent a good couple of hours in there, and could probably have stayed longer.

Very rich collection of flora , fauna, rocks and minerals. The staff is very pleasant and polite. The only thing I disliked is the lack of more visitors. It looks like people are more interested in simple pleasures, than in nature, science and knowledge. A pitty!!!

Three floors of taxidermy animals, some as old as 1800s: birds, fish, reptiles, mammals. Plus a collections of rocks. Worth a stop while strolling through the city center.

For the price that is, you get so much more. For just about 4€ we got to see 4/5 different floors with so much to see. We got good hour or two

Decent collection, convenient location. The museum space feels somewhat narrow for the exhibition. Much can be done to make the place more interesting for kids.

My fav museum in my home town, visited again a month ago with my husband and still loved it (must have been inside 4-5times as a kid), huge collection of animals, stones and more! The floor with insects is mindblowing, it shows how amazing our Planet is...worth the 8leva ticket.

We got there just by walking around streets, Surprised to discover 4 levels museum with such great amount of interesting stuff to see. Beginning with geological discoveries, and ending with world exploration They should improve ventilation and air quality, hot and smelly there. Prices are ok.

Very good collection of birds and minerals. Super nice staff I hope the museum gets public funding soon to bring this place to the deserved glory.

Good museum, 4 floors of things to see. They should improve the ventilation because of stale smell in some rooms.

  • 4/5 Denis T. 1 year ago on Google
Great place with lots of different rooms and exhibits, staff was friendly, excellent location in the city center, tickets are cheap, it spans several floors and has a system for impaired people. There are some modern sections which are often updated and allow a proper closer look at well done animal mannequins of which there is a plethora to see. Sadly some of the stuff is quite old, since it was donated often a 100 years ago or so and has started to deteriorate. The tanks containing the animals are usually also old and the whole room has the typical smell of preservation balm which is a bit unpleasant.

If the year was 1890 this would be super cool. In this time it is simply dated. It is a large collection of taxidermed animals, rocks and bugs. Lacks educational aspects, anything interactive or historical.

  • 3/5 Abi C. 1 year ago on Google
This place is very dated, extremely old examples of sometimes very comically stuffed animals. A huge bird collection. Fortunately not expensive to get in and raises a few smiles at some of the exhibits though I am sure this isn’t the intention.

I was the only tourist surrounded by childs and their teachers 🤣,. Great place for learning about different species and Nature, If you love natural science this place is for you. They hd cute bats on the floor and free toilet, the entrance cost me 8 leva.

  • 5/5 Philip H. 1 year ago on Google
Lots of exhibits over 5 floors. Most have labels in English. Lot of walking but great if you are interested in Fauna with an excellent geological crystal exhibition.

They have a very good collection of filled animal's. Especially birds seemed liveful, I have been to some other natural museum, but specimens weren't this preserved. So basically, it's a nice museum, but the presentation can be improved they should check Bucharest's museum for help.

Very exciting museum! The way the animals and minerals are displayed is beautiful

  • 3/5 Monika S. 2 years ago on Google
Cheep entrance (4 leva for student), the museum is not very modern or interactive, there is many text which is only in Bulgarian sometimes. But it has a really good atmosphere of old museum from 19th century.

A very interesting museum for young and old, located at the heart of the city. Four floors rich in exhibition items and information about birds, beasts, bugs, precious stones, etc. I much prefer this than the Sofia Zoo as it is. Better air-conditioning during summer would be an improvement.

Truly the most examples of the museum in Washington DC

Very interesting museum, perfect for animal lovers ane children. No dinosaurs in sight though, so 4 stars instead of 5.

  • 3/5 Andrey S. 2 years ago on Google
kind of snall and overpriced for a family.. nothing really special. Good mineral and insect collection. I wish the exhibits were a bit more extensive.

I have been there a few time and I would go again, this time with the kids. A lovely organised exhibition that always has something to surprise me with

Goog collection of animals and birds from all over the world. The vibe and the exposition feels a bit old-school. Yet, definitely worth a visit if you are interested in nature.

  • 5/5 Marios C. 2 years ago on Google
A must see museum! On third floor there is only few lebels in english. The light is not appropriate. Ceiling lamps are reflected on glass and the view is not very clear.

  • 5/5 Panayot Z. 2 years ago on Google
In general the museum is nice. However, the Antarctic exposition (which is unique btw) should be more centrally staged. Currently it is easy to be missed.

Great experience, there is quite a huge collection of animals and even some strange ones which of course are not common, but that’s why we visit those museums! Friendly and polite staff. Adult tickets are 8 bgn.

  • 5/5 Marty L. 2 years ago on Google
Great museum to learn about Nature. The kids loved all the new stones and animals they saw. Learning should be fun and this place makes it happen. The guide was extremely informative and entertaining as well. Had a great time! I definitely recommend it.

This museum has a huge amount of information but it is not very attractive. We paid to visit it , it is not free as mentioned below

  • 5/5 IVA B. 1 year ago on Google
Great place to take your kids, educational and fun without being too much, so they are not bored. Located right in the heart of the city, within walking distance from a lot of other places of interest. For one adult and two kids paid 14 leva admission fee. Totally worth it.

  • 5/5 Bradley G. 1 year ago on Google
The museum was very interesting. It is natural history so be prepared for a lot of taxidermy work. Many animals on exhibit to see and some that I'd never seen on exhibit before so I enjoyed that.
