$$$$$ BEWARE. In addition to a regular copay up front, we got charged a >$700 facility fee several months after our visit. Should have gone to urgent care down the street! Or even the ER would have been much cheaper with our insurance. The MUSC After Hours Care website advertises it as a “preferred choice” “[w]hen faced with the choice of an expensive ER visit or a trip to an adult facility or urgent care center.” NOT TRUE FOR US. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! Editing to add that we just got ANOTHER bill from them in the mail today, 9/10/23, OVER A YEAR AFTER OUR 8/4/22 VISIT, for an additional $60. Absurd.

Two very different experiences. The first couldn’t have been better. No wait and the staff was excellent. The second time there was an hour and a half wait. We were told we could wait in the waiting room (exposure risk) or sit in our car in the parking lot with a sick child for 90 minutes. If we left and came back, we were moved to the back of the line. They monitor vehicles leaving the lot. We don’t live far away and could have been called/texted to say our turn was coming up soon. Have some compassion and come up with a better system for handling long wait times.

Horrible experience- Dr. Lalich was dismissive and arrogant when we came with our 3 year old, who had a bad rash and runny nose, cough. She told us (even I asked a second time if antibiotics could help) that benadryl was fine. 4 days later we went to Children's Hospital and found out she has scarlet fever likely due to untreated strep throat. We are devastated. After 5 years of IFV to have our daughter and trying to keep her healthy, the pain she is in right now is beyond sad for us- we will never go back. Fortunately the two doctors we saw at MUSC children's hospital today were kind, patient, and hopefully have helped her recover.

I took my daughter here after hours because she was having a fever and a bad cough with congestion in chest. The doctor I saw was not considerate, did not care for my concerns, didn’t want to listen to my concerns about my child and her fever she was having. The doctor was unprofessional and I will not be going back to this location. I am very disappointed about the service I got here for my doctor. She was rude and disrespectful. The doctor I saw for my daughter should not be working as an after care doctor when she didn’t care about my daughter overall well-being. She was in the room for 5 mins and left and never came back. We then left and ask the nurse for after care paperwork. The doctor said it was viral and I couldn’t do anything for my daughter when I knew my daughter had an infection as a mother. My daughter is delayed and does not talk so I have to be an advocate for her. The doctor treated us differently because my daughter didn’t not talk that’s how I truly felt in the room. She had no professionalism at all. It is such disappointment, this is my first bad experience I had with MUSC. Turns out she had an infection and is now on antibiotics, that another pediatrician gave her.

Dr Anderson was great. The wait is understandable and we appreciate you working in the evening seeing many ill children this time of year. We couldn’t have had a better experience with Dr Anderson. She took time with us and listened to our concerns, reviewed my daughter’s likely diagnosis and gave needed treatment during our visit. Dr Anderson is a gifted diagnostician and I felt confident in her exam, assessment and plan. My daughter responded well to the medication and we were relieved hearing that my daughter did not have a more serious disease. Reassurance is medicine as well and I was happy we did not need antibiotics. Your hours are so convenient and we appreciated the option of waiting in our car to avoid transmitting disease to infants and children who may have compromised immune systems. Thanks again to you and your amazing staff for all that you do.

Awful first experience. We had an appointment at 8:30 am and we traveled 2 and a half hours the day before, got a hotel and we were so looking forward to the doctor checking our little girl. At 8pm I got a phone call that the appointment is canceled.. we drove back home because there was no reason for us to stay overnight. At 7 am next day I got a phone call that someone canceled their appointment and another doctor is available. Of course I rush, grabbed my purse and nickeled my little one and we drove down to Mount Pleasant. We got at the office at 8:38 and I am just bursting with joy that she’ll be seen by the specialist. I waited 15 min to check in and my joy didn’t last long as the front desk lady had no idea what I was talking about. They said I can wait all day and see if there is a no show and they’ll take us in. I was hardly keeping my tears. It’s been a long day before driving back and forth for 5 hours and a looooong morning rushing and speeding to get my child to the doctor’s office. Staff was not accommodating and even close to mean, they did not give a single care about what I have been through for the last 12 hours or for my little one. Very disappointing and discouraging, these are the people in whose hands our Children’s health is.

I had the most amazing experience, the staff I encountered was so polite and my visit was quick but efficient. Ms Heather was the best part of our visit and they suggested a pharmacy for us so we wouldnt have to wait long for my daughters medicine.
