A good launching point for the trails. Chock a block full of tourists. Monterosso has the only real beach in the Chinque Terre.

We enjoyed the old town and both public and private beaches there. But when it comes to the experience with the drive up there, the city left us with the worst experience. I don't think a tourist would make it two times to Monterosso. It's a small town where a single visit is enough. Why is the city making it so difficult for people to park their car, on this single visit? We have kids and lots of stuff and can't go by train. We had to leave the car 300m up the mountain. And finally the police left us a 50€ parking ticket. You have to provide adequate parking spaces. Not everyone is ready to use the train, and you're acting very badly on both, the road over the mountain and the parking spots. You are not even ready to fix some mirrors at the sharp rounds on the mountain, but you're ready to pass by each car and leave your tickets for people to pay fines. Really a terrible experience for a beautiful town.

Great launch point for the Cinque Terre with access to other villages by boat, train, or trail. The most options of the 5 villages for restaurants and lodging, yet still has the classic Cinque Terre feel. Divided into 2 "towns", old and new, separated by a walking path. Train station is in new town.

Belíssimo beautiful, everything in this little piece of land is magical , you got to see.
