Najcenniejszym skarbem w muzeum Rossano jest ewangeliarz jednym z purpurowych kodeksów uncjalnych Nowego Testamentu. Powstał w VI wieku, lecz nie do końca wiadomo gdzie.Rękopis przechowywany był w katedrze a teraz znajduje się w muzeum w Rossano jakiś 100 metrów od katedry. Zawiera pełny tekst Ewangelii Mateusza i niepełnej Marka. Nie ma w nim znaków interpunkcyjnych ani przerw pomiędzy wyrazami. Do dnia dzisiejszego zachowało się jedynie 188 z 400 kart kodeksu. Pozostała część uległa zniszczeniu podczas pożaru w XVII lub XVIII wieku. Prawdopodobnie oryginalny kodeks zawierał pełny tekst czterech Ewangelii. Tekst spisany został w dwóch kolumnach na pergaminie nasączonym purpurą. Każda kolumna składała się z 20 linijek, z których pierwsze trzy pisane były złotem, pozostałe – srebrem.

Went here with my grandmother and the tour guide was extremely knowledgeable with proficiency in Russian, English, Italian. It was such a great experience i recommend this to anyone travelling in the region
