Public parking area is close by and it is easy to access. The Prato della Valle is a great starting point for walking around Padova and is close to the Botanical Gardens, the Basilica, and many other famous landmarks. We visited on a Sunday afternoon and enjoyed the people watching.

One of the biggest piazzas in the Italy and Europe. Very nice place to stroll, relax and learn history of Padua by looking at dozens of statues located there. All the statues are connected to Padua history.

Just amazing. Thoroughly enjoyed the park with all the architectures, the water body and the lush greenery. Best part is vehicles are not allowed close to the park, so one can stroll across it and enjoy great times. Highly recommended if you are in Padova.

It is very beautiful park, must see. BUT... there are no any benches. Little shade on a bright sunny day. As a result, people are forced to sit on the grass under the trees.

Great park surrounded by a public market with people sitting relaxing and catching a breath in the middle of the the pond. Definitely worth the visit if you are in town. It’s a bit far from the station of the train you there are a lot of ways to get there if you want to visit it. The bazar is also an experience worth seeing and how knows maybe you find something you like

One of the most beautiful places in Padova! This piazza is rich in history and a simple walk around allows you to discover incredible buildings, ancient stories, and the bustling life of the city. A big and newly renovated parking place and supermarket are placed on one side of the piazza, making for easy access. Beautiful place to start your way into the Padova city center!

During the summer, the square is alive with large numbers of visitors who skate, stroll or study while tanning themselves in the sun. Every New Year's Day, and during the Feast of the Annunciation in mid August, parties with music and fireworks take place in the Prato. It is a place where you can take a rest with your friends and love ones. It's fun to hang around.

Padova was once way ahead of Venice in the history. You can understand this from this place. Una piazza incredibile!

Nice area to bike, stale and walk in. There is a fountain and a 2 euro a go ride for the kids nearby. I would say avoid the ice cream place on the corner as it’s very expensive compared to shops in the town where the locals go… note this is one of the only places where you can buy magnets / postcards etc… as the main town doesn’t have any tourist shops.

Padova is a small, laid-back, non touristy town with great history, and it's a great central place as a stop over between Venice and Bologna* another awesome non touristy city. Bologna , the food capital of Italy. 😁

Massive square in Padova. Sure there are events that take place here as there are lots of open space. The churches in the vicinity were amazing and depicts the history of Padova.

Very beautiful street with a view on cathedral. But I don't like the market near it. It's really huge and only disturbs

In the heart of Padova... Big square, I think it's surely the largest in Italy and one of biggest in all Europe... On square there is 78 statues... Always full of people especially in spring and summer when you can see students to learn, skaters, old people who just sitting or slowly walking and enjoy...I think that is main attraction for tourists who come in this city... All recommendations for visit and take some photos and make memories 👌

We were here during the day when it was 90 degrees Fahrenheit. There are a few trees to provide shade and a nice cool breeze to provide some relief. Benches available too. Gravel trails and grass.

An amazing urban plaza in the city of padova. A must see. You may enter from the north and while you pass through cute and spectacular alleys of the old town . Take a rest in the grass and then walk around the square alongside the colonnades to find impressive views towards the central open space. It is great that cars do not have access to the plaza and it provides a safe playground specifically for children.

After going through the small streets of Padova, you can reach this large square with a water flow, statues and a park in the middle. It is very iconic and of course it looks better in the tourist blogs or guides. Enjoyable for a walk.

Very suggestive place. Amazing very spacial design, bringing together art (with a lot of statues all around the square), water and green field in the central part. Many beautiful building standing all around the square. Would love to see it a bit more clean.

A nice park to pass by while walking around in town. Not really a place to casually stay, unless you come prepared - locals can be spotted in a “reading outside setup”

The " Prato della Valle " square is one of the biggest in Europe and is something unique and really nice , simply unmissable if you are in Padua. In the center an elliptical canal with 78 statues and 4 for bridges leading to the central lawn. Carpark in the adjacent Rabin square with entance in " 58° Reggimento Fanteria Brigata Abruzzi " street but it can be full in peak hours it has an indipendent entrance for campers and bus

A beautiful place for enjoy the time with friends between a coffee and a book. The particularity of this place is the huge dimension, the variety of statue they have and the location. This is (correct me if I wrong) the most large and big square in Europe. Cool !!

Beloved a place for young and not so young people to rest, socialize and relax. This beautiful large elliptical square Prato della Valle, is one of the symbols of Padua. The square is actually a large monumental space characterized by a central green island, called Isola Memmia, in honor of the mayor who commissioned the work. In 1767 the square, which belonged to the monks of Santa Giustina became the public property of the city of Padua. In 1775 Andrea Memmo, whose statue is in the square, decided to reclaim and restructure the entire area. Prato is surrounded by a canal decorated with a double base of numbered statues of famous characters of the past which according to the original project must have been 88. Today we can see, however, only 78 statues with 8 pedestals surmounted by obelisks and 2 empty ones. Four small streets cross the Prato over small bridges, and then meet in the center of the islet. The arrangement is inspired by the great Venetian tradition of the patrician garden, here for the first time this was diverted from private use and proposed, according to neoclassical concepts, as an urban solution and environmental qualification. The history of the origin of this beautiful meadow without grass (Il Prato senza erba) is very interesting. Since ancient times this open space had economic and recreational functions. In Roman times it was the seat of a vast theater, the Zairo, of whose foundations traces have been found in the canal that surrounds the Memmia Island, and of a circus for horse racing. In the era of persecutions against the first Christians, the circus was used for fighting. Here two of the four patrons of the city, Santa Giustina and San Daniele, were martyred. In the Middle Ages it was instead the site of fairs, jousting, public celebrations and competitions, such as the races of the "sedoli", a kind of typically Paduan chariot or the "castle of love", which ended with the conquest of the beautiful marriageable girls from part of free young men from all over the Veneto region.

A beautiful historical place...awesone walk, lovely and lively place. Just across the main street, there is a big parking place, 1€/per hour. Before the site, there is a beautiful florao market.

Padova, Italy is a nice little gem of a place just 40min away by train from Venice. Lots of shops and great pit stop when on long train rides for food and get out and see the city center just 20min walk from train station.
