If you're interested in history of fortresses it's a must see. If not, going there is a waste of time in my opinion. The way to the hill is not in a very good condition. But you can take there nice photos. 😊

What a wonderful fortress! One of the largest in Italy, it stands tall at Civitella. Awesome insight into the lives of ancient soldiers and the rule of Naples. The panoramic view from atop is also breathtaking. Take water with you during hot months. Definitely recommended as a must see Abbruzzo attraction.

Absolutely beautiful fortress atop of a tall hill surrounded by plains allowing you to see for miles in all directions until your vision hits the mountains to the west and the sea to the east. The town is tucked up under the fortress and is almost dream like to walk through the streets that are still inhabited by residents. Being an infantry veteran, I found it entertaining and futile as I attempted to empathize with what it would be like to assault this fortress. A must see location if you are visiting Abruzzo!

Very beautiful fortress, with a lot of story. Unfortunately there was no guide, and the map tell something. Cheap. Recommended

It's a very nice place to visit with amazing views (mountains till the sea). The city is free and you can go to the "narrowest street in Italy" but look at the map or ask someone to don't miss it! In my opinion don't worth to pay extra to see the museum (Jan/2023). The shops were closed when I got there, so my advice is to take your own snacks with you.
