A homely hostel placed in the bustling centre - Alsancak - of Izmir, with a marina and lots of bars and clubs. There is no sign outside the hostel, so look at the pictures to help you find it. Staff were courteous and helpful. Often breakfast or dinner was cooked and shared by staff free of charge on a donation basis. Sociable atmosphere.

The location is perfect near from Alsancak gar metro , but I don't recommend it at all , no Ac fan not working , internet no signal , no breakfast , no shower rack you have to hold it and it was a bad experience at all

Wonderful place ! A home away from home with nice spaces, a furnished and stocked kitchen to use, friendly and helpfull staff and very fair owner. We screwed up our booking and they didnt charge us extra though it was our mistake. The cleanliness and facilities are good, as long as you are used to youth hostels. The hostel was homey and we recommend it a lot!

By far the least favorite hostel in Turkey mainly because of the infrastructure and facility. The staff is nice, friendly and willing to help. I booked the 4 beds dorm because I want more privacy and that’s the only option has curtain. The room has no natural nights at all and only one light that is very dim. Other than sleeping, it’s not joyful to do any other things at all because it’s so dark. Also the closet of the room is for public use so constantly there is staff in and out to grab blanket or towels for other guests. No A/C waked up in the middle night. Also the rooftop was not usable neither. For the same price, I got way better options for other places. As the hostel theme is so outdated and weak in Izmir, I probably will stay hotel next time

When we arrived, we were welcomed very warmly (with fresh watermelon) and it was an excellent stay. The rooms are clean and the staff was nice and knew everything we wanted to know. They also had a tap with drinking water, which was very nice to have. I would definitely recommend!

DO NOT BOOK THE 2-PERSON BEDROOM, you will not sleep. We visited in August 2023. The room window is openning directly on multiple AC systems (of other buildings, not any of those will fresh down your room) that are placed just a couple of meters away. During our stay, the ACs were always on, making a terrible noise and making the bed vibrate. To get an idea of what I mean, you can check the uploaded video which was taken in the middle of the night. In addition, in August it was very hot and with no AC inside our building, the temperature of the room was over 30°C when we arrived at around 11pm. We stayed only the first night. We did not sleep at all. In the morning we gave back the room keys and said to the hostel manager we will go elsewhere since it is not possible to sleep here. Hostel manager refused to acknowledge that the ACs were noisy, and he was blaming the bar/night clubs down the street. He kept saying that nothing was his responsability. This was absolutely ridiculous. Such a room should simply not be rented when ACs are used. Even for free I would not stay a night. Also, the room is very small (you have only 1m of space aside the bed, you can be 2 persons standing but definitely not move at all). It obviously does not matter if you are not planning on spending time in the room/you're travelling on a budget, but note that you will need the window open otherwise the volume is so small that you are suffocating (oh and keeping the window closed to reduce ACs noise is useless as the windows are old woden frames without any insulation). Bathrooms are not the cleanest and there is a lot of humidity and smell, but it's just as what can be expected from a cheap hostel, so we personally did not mind.

A very cozy Hostel in the heart of the city. The people who own/run this place are very welcoming and helpful. They cook amazing breakfast in the morning until 11:30 AM that you can join without any extra fee. At night, we had movie night on Netflix. Don’t forget to enjoy the terrace. Highly recommended!

Shantihome Hostel is in a great location and has a rooftop terrace. We stayed in an 8 bed share which had a smoking balcony also. Downstairs breakfast is really good, watermelon, omelets and cheese bread. Sociable hostel albeit when we stayed not many people were there. Short minute walk from the beach and bars.

Visited Summer 2019. The host family made me feel right at home, and it was very comfortable, important for me as an older (50s) traveller. Wonderful fresh breakfasts, good advice on nearby sights. Very much an older building in an older part of town, but everything was functional, which is all I wanted. Fellow travellers from all over the world, with stories to match, which is why I travel in the first place.

Absolutly charming. They took really good care of us, gave out a lot of information and we felt very welcome. The hostel is vegetarian/ vegan to include everybody and to ensure a clean enviroment, lovely 🥰 Would have stayed longer in Izmir just because of the hostel.

Great place to stay! Staff are very helpful. The hangout area is cute and cozy. All food is vegetarian (not vegan). Breakfast was DELICIOUS. I found this place have more of a party vibe, but maybe that's just when I was there. It's in a busy part of town with lots of clubs around you, but you're also near the water and lots of restaurants. Would recommend, if you are familiar with hostels and know how they work.

Very nice Hostel in the best location in Izmir. I stayed only two nights, but I loved it. Very social place, but not a party Hostel. The staff is very friendly and they have a great breakfast on donation base. Be aware that there's sometimes some noise from the street in the big dorm, but it wasn't that bad, I slept pretty good there.

Stayed here twice, met cool people both times. Breakfast is home made each morning and delicious. Rooms are clean, location is a short walk to trains, entertainment, and night life. Staff is helpful, booked a cab so I could make my 3am flight.

It's one of the coolest places to be in, a bit weird looking, but the people and the atmosphere make that place a gem. The breakfast is home cooked and delicious. It's a bit noisy due to the nearby pubs and nightclubs.

A very nice place to. Right in the night time eating area. They have a very inclusive approach to looking after their guests. Beds are comfortable, bathrooms are good enough.

In İzmir best place is Alsancak and Shantihome hostel are exactly in the Alsancak, so just imagine this place have a best location to explore everything in Izmir From that street all izmir nightlife is starting and inside the hostel is really good because this is the only one hostel we can say for solo travelers is best place to stay and explore the city

Perhaps I have never felt as comfortable and welcomed as here. In addition to being located in the best district of Izmir, just a few steps from the beautiful promenade by the sea, it provides a pleasant homely and progressive atmosphere. The fact that some rooms lack air conditioning was no problem, it’s unecological and unhealthy anyway.

Close to everything in iZmir but the hostel isn’t very lively and check in is only after 8:30am. Plus the room is next to a club so it’s hard to sleep

I spent 5 days at Shantihome in Izmir and could not have found a better place to stay. The staff is super nice and supportive, for example I had to join online classes during my stay and everything possible was done to get decent internet to my room. I also had to take a covid test on my last day and the results were picked up by Emina from the hostel so I could use the time in the afternoon to visit Sirince. When food was cooked, everyone was invited to join the meals, we had movie nights in the cosy living room, and so on. This place makes you feel at home! Also it is perfectly located in the city center (Alsancek), 5 min walk away to the train station, with shops, restaurants, etc. nearby In my opinion it is the perfect place for travellers travelling alone who want to connect to locals and other travellers! Thank you Shantihome ❤️

Nice homely environment with touch of spirituality here and there. High quality bed and individual curtains give people some sense of privacy. Attractive place.
