If you like historical ruins, this is one of the places to see. It is an open-air museum with historical ruins, very close to Kemeraltı bazaar. Since it is an open-air museum, I recommend not choosing the hot months. Unfortunately, you do not have the opportunity to visit all of it; many parts are closed because archaeological excavations are ongoing.

If you like history, this is a must visit site in Izmir. It dates back before Jesus was born and you can see the remainders of an old court there. Also the remaining pillars are magnificent and very similar to those in Ephesus.

(Translated by Google) Until thirty years ago, this magnificent historical ruin was full of slums, its value was unknown. Now it has turned into an open-air historical and cultural monument that is true to its original. Old Ottoman and Greek houses, historical mosques, narrow streets will blow your mind ...

The previous visitor entrance has been changed and is on the opposite side now. The museum got a new shape from the last time I visited in 2020. Things got lesser. Didn't find this interesting this time. You can enter with your museum card. If you don't have a card, then you can make the card at the entrance.

Inside channels were several stray dogs and few of them were pretty aggressive, they were ready to bite visitors. Prepare some stones to hit them. Very annoying experience.

To do. The explanations are not the best but sufficient to understand the history of Smyrna. The museum is generally well maintained. Too bad not being able to see the graffiti.
