Casbah used to be one of my favorite late night spots in town, but the last 2 experiences have been so lack-luster that I can’t come up with any reason to return. Service is trashy - servers and bartenders yelling across the bar and across patrons to joke with their friends. They refuse to make any substitution from the menu, even simple requests. For example: my girlfriend requested a gyro without meat, with a substitution request of fried jibneh. Solid No. she then says, “OK can I just have the gyro without meat and extra lettuce?” This isn’t an issue, however we are curtly informed that the sandwich will be the same price as the gyro that includes meat. The gyro she received is pictured below. Casbah was recently renovated, and it has lost its charm. The cozy bar and lush hookah lounge is but a memory, and on top of that, the AC was either not on or not working. On a previous visit, I received a drink that was improperly made and the manager/owner refused a comp on the check because the “liquor already left the bottle” This place was never stellar, nor does anyone in the community expect fine dining service, but any reason to visit is hard to find with other, newer, more guest-focused restaurants being introduced regularly.

Always excellent service here, and the atmosphere is outstanding including the newer expanded space. The hookah quality is good, and they make sure your hookah is in good condition for outdoor seating as well. Seating is easy to find and the food is the best in the area. I recommend their skewers and rice.

Great food. Chicken kebabs were delicious as well as the rice. I didn't like that I had to pay a dollar for Tzatziki sauce, when it came with no sauce whatsoever. Most mediterranean restaurants have at least one cup of sauce included. Still, it's 5 stars for food and service. Very nice place to sit outdoors under a huge oak tree. You won't be disappointed if you dine here.

Brought my sister here for her 21st birthday and I am absolutely satisfied with the treatment we received! The male belly dancer was so sweet he came to our table to dance with her and let her balance his knife on her head it was so sweet and very thoughtful of the staff. Thank you all for making her celebration so great!

Consistently fabulous food, light and fresh, in the best place to mosey about on a Saturday. Our server, Brii, was the best!! Thanks Casbah!

You will love the Arabian theme and music with great hookah. Black tea with mint was absolutely great. The staff were awesome and helpful. My only concern is the seats it’s ok for eating then leaving but not for a long stay. Price was perfect.

One of the best Friday summer nights I’ve had in a while since moving to Jacksonville. Casbah Cafe provided a relaxing and wonderful dining experience. From the outdoor courtyard dining to the interior design, I felt as if I was transported to a trendy middle eastern lounge. The evening also hosted a cool local DJ and also a professional belly dancer. The entire staff was very welcoming, friendly and professional. Special shoutout to Nef, Aseel, Lola, & Rami for their attention and sharing their great smiles and conversation. With a loaded great menu of food, I picked the falafels and the Kafta Kababs. Each plate was amazingly delicious and fresh. Food was served perfectly hot and all of its ingredients made the aforementioned dishes extra tasty. My server Nef was very generous in ensuring that my virgin (non alcohol) mojito drinks were cool and refreshing every time. I’m already excited for my next visit to enjoy the great vibes, music, food and service!

There is nothing bad I can say about this restaurant. Everything was amazing. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable. We never felt rushed or ignored. The ambiance was serene. The restaurant has three sections; outside seating, bar area and the main dining area. A party in every corner. Clean bathrooms. The food was fresh, arrived quickly and taste delicious. Large enough portions to share if you choose. The entertainment on Saturday after 8pm is jaw dropping!!! Thank you for making my daughter birthday a special occasion.

Very nice atmosphere, tasty food and professional service. Liked hookah as well! Perfect location and interior design which makes you feel being somewhere in Middle East countries. Live music is wonderful addition who loves jazz. Some days they have dance and singing evenings. One of the best places in Jacksonville to relax.

We've been going to The Casbah since the 90s. The food is always fresh and on point. All is created in house. Their hummus is so flavorful and creamy and we had it topped with meat--it pairs so well with warm pita and crispy cucumbers. I ordered the meat pies (appetizer) with a side of cucumbers and my husband ordered the Mediterranean pizza with the red pepper hummus. Lots of fresh vegetables, olives cucumbers and pickles. The servings are large but everything is so flavorful. We also ordered a Hookah with the DUVAL name tag (lemon, raspberry and another flavor that escapes me) but it was smooth, fruity and enjoyable. The decor is beautiful and we wished they would've had belly dancers that evening. It's one of Avondales best intimate restaurants and an asset to the area. Be sure to try their baklava!!!!

Tiny portions for exorbitant prices. Ordered a gyro through Uber eats tonight and got a thin tiny piece of meat, and one measly side of cous cous. Before delivery fees, that entree is 17.99. Spend your money elsewhere.

Lamb sharwama was succulent and flavorful. The lamb chops were lightly seasoned and tender over rice pilaf. Great belly dancer with great middle eastern music to set the mood and athmosphere.

I have an unhealthy relationship with the Casbah. I’ve been going here for years. I love this place so much - I highly Recommend the Casbah. They have amazing food, hookah and drinks. We stopped in tonight and they were extremely busy but Brii provided the most amazing service. Even though it was busy, she was busting her butt and still provided amazing service. Highly recommend.

Its always great when I come here! I wish I had pics. I’ll update this post when my chocolate cake arrives. Assel is literally the best! She is very professional, attentive, warm and welcoming its like I’m with family when I come to Casbah! The food is delicious, drinks are amazing and I don’t smoke hookah but I notice a lot of people that come here love the hookah that Casbah serves! Its just a vibe!

Casbah is the best! I love sitting outside under the beautiful tree and there’s always great entertainment. The food is delicious! The lamb kabab is my favorite. Definitely recommend. Lola is a great server!

The staff is friendly and courteous. The manager Roamy was very professional. We had the baklava home made with the Arabic Coffee and the yansoon tea it was all delicious. We will definitely go back for dinner soon

The new owners have really restored the cozy hang out vibe! More couches and pillows than before. The outside heaters are back and if you’re still cold ask for a blanket! Been loving this place for almost 2 decades and it’s really bounced back. Same great food and drinks! Definitely looking forward to another decade😁

Honestly the vibe is always great here perfect for a quiet couples date me and my wife go here all the time only thing I could say bad about the place is the waitress wouldn’t take a drink I didn’t like off of the menu she said that they would have had to made it wrong for it to be voided which I respect but I literally took a sip of the thing and it was horrid. I would’ve let her keep the change if she would’ve took the drink off but due to poor customer service I left with my change and left nothing. No one wants to hear a sob story when they are getting robbed. Have a great time going here just make sure you know what your ordering or you will have to pay for it if you don’t like it. But great place just make sure you read the ingredients and know how they taste on a drink lol silly me always trying to try something new

Ordered on uber eats. Was charged for a desert but it didnt come and there was no pita bread for the shawarma just meat on hummus.

Such a good experience! My co-workers and I were looking for a spot around the area. We came across Casbah and we loved it. High quality Mediterranean food and great drinks! Our server Jad was awesome. Very down to earth and offered great suggestions off the menu. We'll be back for sure!

This place is pretty cool! A Mediterranean hookah bar. I don't really enjoy hookah but I came here along with 5 others for dinner before going for a comedy show and had a good time. I ordered the expresso martini to get my night started and our server, (gosh I cant remember their name) recommended substituting tequila for the vodka. What a change!! I usually prefer gin martinis but I think I will do more tequila if looking to change things up. They give these cute little rug coasters for your drinks that I thought was a nice touch. Service was a bit slow which I didnt quite understand since there wasn't many people in the restaurant maybe it was because of the large group we had. It didnt matter because all the food was delicious and it was our fault for trying to be in a rush not the restaurants. I made the falafel my entree since I wasn't very hungry and they satisfied my craving! I would like to come back and try one of their entrees because everyone else tore them up! From the chicken shawarma to the lamb shawarma, everyone else enjoyed their meals. I would recommend this place again. and I will plan better to make sure we aren't in a rush!!

100% recommend for date night, amazing atmosphere, delicious drinks, amazing falafel, the hookah was divine and the belly dancers awesome. Had an absolute blast, stayed all night, shut the place down. Sooo good!!

A very relaxing environment. Can't wait to come back. They have a killer Greek salad. The hookahs were on point, and the service was exceptionally perfect. If your in the Jacksonville area, this is a must stop spot.

This is a great Mediterranean restaurant in Jax if you're looking for one. The food is always on point, as is the service and hookahs. I got the sampler platter and everything on it was great except those weird bread things lol. Hummus and pita was bussin as well as the kebabs. Had a great time here on a beautiful day with the nice weather.
