I was visiting Jacksonville and stumbled upon this place. What a great find! The food was delicious! Fresh and perfectly cooked. Ribs were juicy and had a nice char taste. Pan fried noodles and the lo mein were like New York Chinatown! The fried zucchini sticks were so good! Light and crispy and not oily! The bartender Holly made the best cocktails! The restaurant is beautiful and the staff was so nice and accommodating to my food requests. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are in Jacksonville Florida. We tried other places in Jacksonville on our vacation and this was our favorite!!!!

My wife and I just dined at the Blue Bamboo Canton Bistro after reading numerous positive reviews. Many reviews proclaimed it as the most authentic delicious Cantonese food in the area. Our expectations were high and we were excited to visit the restaurant under award winning Chef Dennis Chan. The restaurant, located on San Jose Boulevard, is modern decor, spacious dining room and has plenty of parking. Our server was personable, enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the menu items. We started our meal with the Fried Pork Potstickers. The dumplings were not crispy enough and the accompanying dipping sauce was not good. We prefer the traditional sauce with soy, ginger, garlic, scallions with chili or sriracha. My wife opted for the Curry Salmon and Shrimp. The seafood was fresh and cooked well but nothing to write home about. The dish was served on a bed of vegetables ... broccoli, carrots, celery, bok choy and possibly some onions. My wife is British, she is very familiar with cooking with curry. We understand that curry dishes are also very subjective. The curry in this Salmon and Shrimp dish was bland, nothing special especially at $ 33.00. I ordered the General's Chicken. It is their spin on traditional General Tso's chicken, a dish I have had hundreds of times in my life living in the metropolitan areas of NY City and Boston. The menu describes the dish as crispy fried chicken breast meat tossed in chilies with peppers and onions with steamed rice. My chicken was dry, overcooked and served in a tasteless sauce. Extremely disappointing considering all the great reviews of the Blue Bamboo. The best item we sampled was the Mandarin Orange Cake. It is their award winning signature dessert. It was absolutely delicious! The highpoint of the meal. We had great expectations visiting the Blue Bamboo as many reviews proclaimed it as the most authentic Cantonese restaurant in the JAX area ( No yellow fried rice). Maybe it was an off day, but we found the Blue Bamboo to be disappointing and highly overrated.

Todays choice for some Asian cuisine for lunch was definitely the right one. Upon entering the large and spacious interior I was greeted by the owner Chef Dennis and Manager Tina. Both were so welcoming and had great smiles to share with me while being seated. My waitress named Lacey was also very kind and professional. I ordered the tasty and savory ribs that came with mixed vegetables and white rice recommended by a friend. The food delivered to my table by robot "Booey" was fresh and delicious. The portions were perfect. To compliment the great tasting lunch, seating was very comfortable. The interior clean and super roomy. Parking is conveniently located on the property. Looking forward to my next lunch and/or dinner visit soon!

One of the best restaurants in Jacksonville. If you like Asian cuisine, definitely check out Blue Bamboo. I loved the Red Curry Shrimp and Grits. Make sure to check out the Happy Hour specials, too.

Good location, nice decor, average taste, $$$$ I had an opportunity to stop in mid-week for lunch. It is a really nice looking building, and I was hoping the food would match the decor. The menu was a little limited, but it doesn't matter if what they have is really good. As I look over the menu I'm thinking to myself that they are focusing on what they do best. I didn't see anything that really looked original, so I went with what the server said was a favorite. I ordered the Hunan bowl with chicken. It was about average price for a lunch entree at around $16. At this price I'm expecting it to be a notch or two above typical takeout, but unfortunately it was like any other strip-mall offering. I also ordered a hot tea as my beverage. I was a little surprised that the was another $5 on top of my $16 stir-fry bowl. If you're doing that math, that's about $22 for lunch and then add another 20% for tip. Again, if this was amazing fare, then I could understand. I had looked at the other side of the menu that had "all day" entrees, but those were at least another $10 to $15 each and no way I was spending $30 for a lunch entree. Again, this is based on one visit, so maybe they have a to-die-for something on the menu that I should have ordered, but no way this is going to make it into the regular lunch rotation. It seems like most of the other reviews are positive. At some point I may give them another try, but my expectations are pretty high for a $30ish lunch.

My only regret: not sticking to my original plan of ordering noodles and steamed dumplings for myself. My dumpling sampler of shumai, spring rolls, and rangoon was devoured in seconds, and so was my shrimp entree. I’ll be back again next weekend for the beef noodles and steamed dumplings. Sidenote: the fried rice entree was massive and the Szechuan chicken was SUPER flavorful.

Upscaled (expensive) oriental (Chinese) dining in a clean (new feel) location. Very good (polite & efficient) service! Food (presentation & taste) was excellent. Our lunch bill + tip, for two, exceeded $85.00 (even though we did not order alcoholic or other beverages). Dinner menu featured much more expensive items. Despite expense, I would recommend this place!

I took a friend here for lunch. The lunch menu looked really good, but we were treating ourselves, so we ordered from the "fancy" side of the lunch menu. I ordered the red curry shrimp and grits. The spice level was perfect for me and I pretty much cleaned my plate. Service was excellent and the dinning room was very lovely. I'd like to go back with my hubby. I think it would be a great plate for a romantic date night. Also, I ordered the mandarin cake to go, and it did not disappoint. Check the prices online before you go so you don't get sticker shock. I think the prices are worth the experience, but there are other places you can get Asian fusion for less. They definitely won't have red curry shrimp and grits though.

First time trying the famed Blue Bamboo. I loved the atmosphere and kitch of the robot waiter. It was also lovely that Chef greated every table. We did pre order of Lobster Cantonese and Sweet and Sour whole fish. We then ordered a Green tea martini, the 5 Dumpling sampler, pepper steak stir fry and Veggie Jay Choy. After living in Southern China I have missed authentic foods so the sweet and sour while fish and the jay choy really hit for me. We picked that fish clean. My daughter loved the Lobster Cantonese and my hubby was surprised by how good the fish was. We also tasted the Maderin Orange cake for dessert. It is light and moist like tres Leche and the orange flavor is delicate against the buttery notes. All I. All a delicious meal and we will be back. Service was also excellent we were relaxed and did not feel rushed as we enjoyed our meal occupying the table for about 1 1/2 hours.

We've been talking about going to this restaurant for quite some time now, but we always find a way to go somewhere else instead for whatever reason. Last weekend we finally decided to go and just had an amazing time. The waiter (I wish I could remember his name but he's worked there for 6 years) definitely knew how to spark great conversation, communicate the details of many menu items, and make us feel very welcome. He had a touch of sarcasm, but that's my kind of style and I appreciated that. We started out with the barbecue duck crisps and they were phenomenal. Quite crispy! I also had a crispy honey glazed shrimp entree which I loved, but wish it was a little bit more food. Finally, we ended with a tea-based creme brulee that was delightful. Our server mentions that it wasn't too sweet and he was spot on! Side note: a funny anecdote was that my girlfriend and I kept on laughing a little because they do have an electric bus boy and serving machine of sorts. So much so that we ended up looking online to see how much one of those things cost and we're also laughing at how awkward it can look sometimes while also seeing how other customers were staring at it. Overall we really had a wonderful time here and would definitely recommend it. We'll definitely be coming back.

Always have a great experience here. Food is awesome, people are lovely and we felt cared for again this time. Wanted to write a review to say the generals cauliflower is killer and the orange cake is deservedly award winning!

First off, the building is beautiful. It's a little unassuming from the road....until you're right up on it and see the detail. Second the food and staff were absolutely amazing. The duck crisps and the spare ribs were absolutely out of this world. An awesome blend of new and old schools mesh well. The staff k ows what's up as well as the chef who created the menu and runs this establishment. Kudos my friends. I will be back for sure!!!!

Delicious pan-asian cuisine. Modern, clean atmosphere with a robot waiter bringing the food. Makes you wonder if you should leave some batteries as a tip.

Something has changed since prior visit. They want $25 to let you serve a cake, even if you bring your own disposable plates. The dining room was hot. The lights were too bright and could use dimming at dinner for ambiance. The major thing was the food disappointment. The dishes tasted boiled and not wok seared. It was really bad. I don't understand because it seems any attempt at certain dishes should yield, at least, an average taste but this was flavorless. We ate off little appetizer plates when we were mixing up dishes to share- seafood, meat, chicken etc. We didn't complain because we were bewildered at who would cook that, and who would serve that? If they don't know, they have more problems then our 1 table, who was hot and couldn't wait to leave. The robot is not impressive if it means they can't afford A/C or a chef.

Really enjoyable dinner. They were very accommodating and seated us without having reservations. The pork ribeye was excellent. The shrimp and grits had good flavor but was not hot enough. The proportion of grits to onion/pepper to shrimp was off. Server was great. The sound bounces around the room a lot. Not a good place for someone who has hearing issues. Worth the price of admission to see the robot food deliverer.
