I am so glad I Made it to the Southern Grill before leaving Jacksonville! I must say this is the best place I ate at in 2 weeks and wish I would have found it sooner. The staff was very friendly and helpful the food was delicious I definitely recommend any and everyone to eat here!!! The BBQ was tender and the rice and gravy and the BBQ baked beans were delicious also. I got my oder to go which only took about 10 mins! I sat at the bat while waiting and the bar tender/waitress even made me a nice breakfast drink I believe she called it a vodka sunrise 🌅 🍹 I will definitely be back the next time I'm in town!!! This is a must eat bar and grill 100% Recommend ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Nice staff. Large variety of food. I had the patty melt, it was well seasoned and so were the fries.they have both indoor and outdoor seating. You order at the counter and then find a seat. Parking is kind of hard.

Wow! This place clicks all the check boxes. We were staying at a riverfront hotel for The view however you know how hotel restaurants are. Blah blah blah blah with high $$$$. The southern grill was within walking distance so we thought we would give it a for breakfast. You pick up a paper menu and sit down. When ready to order go to the bar and they take good care of you. Our breakfast came fast. It was like the cook knew what we wanted and started before we ordered. The omelets were large and flavorful. The biscuit I had was awesome. The cheese grits were the best I've ever had. The pricing was so reasonable at a time when going to Perkins you can't get away for two people less than 35 dollars! For two of us the bill was $28 including the coffee. If you're the downtown area on the south side of the River you need to check this place out. Happy hours from 4 to 7 and specials everyday.

Find a seat, order at the bar and help yourself to the drink station for your drinks. Food was great. The Rye toast was thick and yummy ❤️ The coffee station has about eight different types of coffee , ranging from bold to blueberry New England. Happy hour looks pretty amazing as far as drinks go. Outdoor covered patio. Big bathrooms to accommodate their customers. I just hate when there is only one bathroom for mom and pop place that serves 100 🤣 Anyway, not here. Great food and strong coffee 😊 Full service Bar.

Off the beaten path for ribs. Very good. Lots of televisions to watch football. Staff behind ordering area rude, that’s the only reason they lost a star, but food was perfect and manager was very attentive and pleasant. Staff grabbing plates were very efficient and pleasant

Walked 15 min from hotel to get a Bacon Cheddar burger which didn’t have bacon or cheddar. Actual burger was thick/good but dry. Don’t get the mac n cheese - seems heated from a bag and lacks “hearty southern comfort food” creamy and richness to it. Cuban is typical with all the standard ingredients. Called in and got a no fuss refund for the burger since I wasn’t going to waste 30 min round trip for bacon and cheddar on another one.

What a great place for a tasty bite to eat! I had the Cuban sandwich with pulled pork and it was admittedly the best Cuban I’ve had in a long long time. I had the chilly as the side and it was delicious too! I’ll be definitely coming back. Good beer selection and full bar complete the package. I went for lunch but it looks like it is a fun place for the evening as well. We sat at the bar and the service was great too! Overall a great experience. Thumbs up 👍🏽

So actually have eaten here twice in the last few weeks. After seeing some reviews we stumbled upon this unassuming establishment nestled in between parking structures and office buildings. Soooo glad we did! Food was great fir breakfast and for dinner. They totally accommodated our kate arrival and took great care of us. Coffee was good and the drinks even better! Live music some nights.. you are in a bar after all. Their chef is fantastic! Ordered the pulled pork Benedict biscuit for breakfast … the flavorful tender meat marinated in my mouth and took over my taste buds for a moment. We also enjoyed the pastrami and egg bagel. So good! Ordered the grouper on the Dinner special .. super good but super hungry so did not get photos!

Wednesday night live music! The grouper was off the hook amazing! The service was great, food came out fast. They have an outdoor dining. Saw the menu ahead of time, then came in and they had additional items on the wall.

I'm home on bedrest and ordered breakfast for pick up through a meal delivery service. The food was delayed 25 minutes and then when it came it was just okay. My pancakes were alright but the eggs were supposed to be scrambled and were not, they were gross! And the sausage was burnt. A pretty bug disappointment unfortunately.

Incredible food. Causal setting. Good prices. Better than home cooking! Great hours of operation. Great variety of dishes over a 3 day South Side downtown stay.

Plenty of seating. We went early morning and ordered the omelet plate and the waffle breakfast. Both were extremely satisfying and filling. The price was reasonable and staff was pleasant. The only issue was gnats as we sat inside.

This is a review of the southern grill near Daytona Florida. First impression from the outside you would think this place would not be anything special. However as soon as we walked in to this what I'm going to call a bar with a bunch of tables young lady who was sitting at the end of the bar I'm assuming who work there immediately said hi how are you guys doing and told us what the specials were as she pointed to a blackboard very friendly very inviting.🥰 The next young lady at the counter took our orders, explained how things work there and where everything was with a smile. 🥰 We both ordered different style cheeseburgers with sides which came out very quickly and I have to say this was probably one of the best hamburgers I've had in a very long time at an average price so that was definitely a five-star burger along with the wait staff. My only not perfect rating is because this grill well perfect wait staff and awesome food is very challenging with the parking to say the least and then when a food truck / coffee truck is parked on the corner directly in front of this establishment I don't understand because they must have some sort of partnership because of the little outside venue. Just seemed very unsafe to have a large food truck parked on a busy corner where you cannot see around it in an area where people drive a little crazy anyway.

Stopped here for lunch on our drive down to Kissimmee. Food was great, service was good. Located steps away from the river walk. Parking is tricky as the lot next to the restaurant has like 5 spots. Try to park in the garage across or next. Not sure if you can park on the street.

Awesome food, welcoming and friendly staff (especially Kris!), just loved it!!! Had an omelet with hash browns, coffee, and a bloody mary (that came with a CRISPY bacon and olive garnish - so good)!!! Felt like a little bit of home. Thanks!

First time visiting. Went here for breakfast before hitting the road back to GA. The customer service and hospitality was great. The food was good. I usually have problems with my eggs not being cooked well but these were perfect. The bacon could’ve been better. The drink, coffee and condiments are self serve. The service was fast. I’ll definitely be going back when I return to Jacksonville.

I've been patronizing the Southern Grill for a few decades. Unfortunately, I no longer work on the Southbank, but still try to get out there for breakfast or lunch with the family. They have a expansive menu which makes it perfect for families with picky eaters. Everything I've ordered is delicious. I especially like the fish specials. The grilled chicken salad is great and they have quite the variety of sides. I'm happy just ordering a platter of sides. My son enjoys the burgers. Breakfast is delicious too. I like the egg pitas. Highly recommend!

Not a bad little place. Plenty of parking on the weekends. +Short line, not too busy at 11am on a Sunday. +Inside was nice and cooled from great AC. Clean and quaint. Food was good. Not phenomenal but good. Prices were in line with most other breakfast places. +Staff was very friendly. --Several flavored coffees were out so we settled with reg and decaf. -Upon returning for refills 45mins later, still hadn't been refilled after making staff aware. +Food came in a timely manner. ++Food was not dripping with grease or butter. +Biscuits and gravy tiny bit spicy. +Loaded omelet had tons of meat and little cheese. May return to try additional dishes.

I had heard so many great things about this place so me and my family wanted to give them a try. We had the 2 meat BBQ plate with chicken and pulled pork. It had 2 sides macaroni and baked beans. I'm not going to lie the meat is definitely da bomb, the flavor is there. It just was too cold for my liking. The sides aren't all that, and they were cold as well. We also had the fried chicken sandwich melt. I was expecting like a chicken breast but it was 2 chicken tenders. It was hot a fresh and it was good but not something I would order again. For 2 adult meals and a kid meal it was $53.00, not overly priced but the food portions could be better. Planned on going back to try the breakfast.

Location, ambiance, and food was good. I am a foodie, hence 3 stars on the food. Ribs 5/10 nice flavor, texture with a decent light firm bite, not mushy or fall off the bone. Pulled pork 5/10 okay flavor. Baked beans 6/10 nice sweet simple baked beans My food ratungs is based on my experience enjoying Memphis BBQ, Texas BBQ, BBQ from the Carolinas, and personally enjoying BBQ. If you are going for true BBQ, this isn't it. Atmosphere, waitresses, bar tenders, and location 7/10

Scarfed down my pulled pork sandwich without taking a picture. It was delicious. My husband ordered pastrami sandwich and fries. He cleaned his plate as well. We enjoyed happy hour drinks (it was Friday before 7pm). Drinks were cold and the live music was nice. Wish we saved room for dessert because those cake slices were looking divine. We'll definitely be back if we're back in town. It was a very short walk from the DoubleTree Hotel.

The flavors are so good but the fries and pork were cold. Everything is self service, staff is nice. The food doesn't take long to get served.

First time trying Rice and gravy and it didn't disappoint. The meats we had were: turkey, chicken, pull pork and ribs they were all cook well and were full of flavor. The place was packed due to the 49ers being in town and the wait was not bad. Great drinks.

Exceeded my expectations. I frequently come to Jacksonville and found my 2nd go-to place when I am in town. Came here with my coworkers and stayed for happy hour. The food was beyond what I expected for bbq and I am from Texas. The drink specials were a nice cherry on top. Christian, the wonderful woman who worked the bar was spectacular and made us feel like old friends. The locals were delightful and it felt like I was in an episode of Cheers. I ate as much as I could and still had plenty to take home. I am so happy I stumbled on this establishment. 10/10 would recommend. The menu btw is huge! Can’t wait to try other options.
