Definitely worth the trip out to Mayport. It's right by the ferry, so taking the ferry to get there would be fun too. Their seafood is always fresh and yummy. My husband and I ordered the fried platter for two with scallops, oysters, deviled crabs, shrimp and fish (we got the trigger fish and it was delicious). It came with 2 sides, and was way too much food for the two of us. We could have definitely split it with another adult or two. Our son ordered the blackened fish, and he loved it. I wish the shack on the water was open for dining, but the dining tent outside is nice... just no view of the water. There's also a cute cat roaming around the tent that my son found entertaining to watch. We'll definitely be back for the fresh seafood.

I was not impressed with the quality of the food or its service. I was hoping to have a great meal. I Ordered the crab legs, and it's not fresh but frozen. Interesting since it's by Mayport seafood market. Drinks are average and food a bit expensive for the amount you get with dishes. I'll try again in a couple of months if they improve.

Read some of the reviews about the great food, and was not disappointed. Really good shrimp dinner! Obviously very fresh. The grilled scallops also looked very good. It’s a little rustic, but the food makes up for everything else! Worth the drive!

Best seafood I've had in a long time. I had some raw oysters as an appetizer and they tasted very fresh and delicious. The rest of the table had the Bang Bang Shrimp were good but not very spicy. For my main meal I had the combo of grilled scallops and grilled Mahi (one of the fish of the day choices) and double collard greens. The fish and especially the scallops were cooked to perfection. No sauce of any kind (or even lemon) were needed. The collards were juicy and tender with with just the right amount of seasoning. I didn't eat the hush puppies but was told by my fellow diners that they were also the best they have had in recent memory. All our dinners provided plenty of food and no one left hungry! It will be my go to place for seafood anytime I'm in the Jacksonville area.

I was a little disappointed honestly. It has a nice atmosphere and vibe, very friendly staff too. We ordered the shipwrecked shrimp as an appetizer and I will say that they are amazing! I ordered a combination plate with fried shrimp and fried scallops with cheese grits and a baked potato for sides. The shrimp were good and the baked potato was good. I did not like the scallops nor the cheese grits. My friend ordered Cajun fried shrimp and flounder. Her order came out wrong and it was taken care of quickly by our waitress. My biggest complaint was the price. It was a very expensive meal that I just felt ‘meh’ about. When I spend that kind of money dining out, I want to be completely impressed and I want to tell all of my people about the experience. I’m not feeling that way about this place. Maybe I just came on an off day…idk. Bottom line for me…too much money for the quality and quantity of food you get.

Excellent seafood on each visit for the countless visits I’ve made from day 1 opening. The customer service has always been amazing! Doesn’t matter if I’m first in line or the line is out to the street- they know their customers by name! Singleton’s Seafood has been my go to since they’ve opened! And they’ve blessed me as a regular customer! Keep putting God first!! Blessings will continue to pour in!

Love this place! Went with family, we had shrimp, corn nuggets, and conch fritters as appetizers. Blackened scallops with baked potatoe as dinner. It was delicious, service was great and the foggy afternoon gave the atmosphere a special touch!

It’s ok. The fresh local mayport shrimp was good. The grits are horrible. The crab legs was too salty. The Jalapeños Crab Poppers were super delicious. That all folks. The crawfish was super small. I got the boil combo for two. The sever I got was rude.

Atmosphere was very relaxing, we ate outside in the covered patio and watched the ferry pass by. The servings was huge and i enjoyed the oyster platter. The scallops were sweets and decadent. Service was on point and our waiter was outstanding

The seafood is excellent and fresh. I had the fried shrimp dinner and loved it. The service from our server Chris was excellent, and it was really nice eating outside on the deck by the water. Big thumbs up.

Amazing food. And at a great price we tried most of the menu in small amounts of course and we were very satisfied. The freshness and Quality is un-matched

Wait staff was great! Prices were as expected for lunch seafood. Great for lunch portions, no leftovers. Fish was over-cooked and chewy. The restaurant, posts, tables and seating was sticky and dirty. Don't use the restrooms. This place has a lot of history, but I won't be bringing any Jax visitors back to eat, just for the experience and history.

Our friends loved this place, but we thought it was a typical seafood place on the water with just the right amount of grit. Great views..... we watched the blue angels and enjoyed the obnoxious seagulls as our entertainment. The fried pickles were huge! The hushpuppies had a bit of spice. My partner really enjoyed the blackened seasoning on his scallops and shrimp.

Came right at lunch. Took a minute to get seated and waited on but it was worth it. Has a charming rustic seafarer look. I had ordered the fried oyster Po boy. Came about 6 to 10 minutes after ordering. But instead of fried oysters it was fried shrimp. The place was very busy and she may have been distracted when she put the order in so I didn't complain, I ate the shrimp po' boy and I have no complaints the food was delicious. I would definitely go again.

Not as good as I remember but was still satisfied! Prices have gone up like everything else in life but for my 30.00, I got 11 decent sized grilled shrimp, 7 huge scallops and two sides! Clam chowder was just ok. I remember it being amazing but it has been 6 years! Got to see dolphins! Beautiful to sit outside!

Part of the experience at Singletons Seafood Shack is the location. It is on the water and the outdoor dining (in the shade is available) is picturesque. The restaurant has the look and feel of a traditional waterfront restaurant in old Florida. For a visual image, check of the photos of the building's exterior. As an appetizer, I ordered steamed oysters. They were large oysters and very plump. Unfortunately, to my taste, they were not cooked enough. The interior of the oyster was cold and most were closer to raw rather than steamed. Raw oysters are not necessarily bad, but I do prefer to have them at least warm after ordering them to be steamed. The fried shrimp and fries were excellent. There was a large serving of shrimp and the french fries were cooked perfectly. The fried clams are apparently not prepared at the restaurant. Our waitress noted they were not prepared there but said they were still very good. The breading was quite thick and there was not a significant clam taste. I grew up eating Howard Johnson's fried clams. While the chain no longer exists, the comparison to excellent fried clams still lingers. The serving of grilled fish was not bad but there was a great deal of seasoning and the fish appeared to be closer to pan-fried rather than grilled. The key lime pie for dessert was excellent! My advice would generally be to stick to fried food dishes which are generally very good. Enjoy the ambiance, the water views, and seeing the birds off of the deck. The pelicans are beautiful in their own way.

We had an excellent lunch outside on deck. Fried shrimp basket with nicely fan tailed fresh shrimp and fresh sheepshead. Good beer selection and mixed drinks available. Lively view of boats and helicopters overhead. Old fashioned Florida place. Rustic and imperfect.

We first learned about Singleton's last year after searching online, but they were closed for renovations, so we'd been following the Facebook page and finally went to try it today, a beautiful Sunday, for lunch. It was pretty active but we were seated quickly and decided to sit outside on the deck I wouldn't say the view is spectacular, but it's always nice to be waterside. Our Server, Chris, was busy but very pleasant and informative. We were undecided between two cocktails, and he recommended the Purple Pelican. Great choice! It was delicious, and tho not overpowering, you could taste the rum in it. Quite a few of the menu items were "Market Price" so we weren't too sure how the final bill would be, but we were eager to try several things. We ordered a cup of clam chowder ($6) and a cup of Oyster Stew (MP @ $12). I'm from New England, which might've influenced my taste buds, but I didn't like the chowder at all. It was very thick, tasted like cream of chicken soup with potatoes, and was too salty. The Oyster Stew was pretty much a milk broth with butter, not much flavor. It was loaded with oysters, but they were all very bitter, not really edible. Both soups were left mostly uneaten. The other items we ordered were Conch Fritters, a pound of Steamed Shrimp, and the Fried Squash Appetizer. The conch fritters were small, maybe the size of a ping pong ball, 6 to an order and wonderful. Crispy on the outside, fluffy inside with decent bits of conch, served with a mustard-horseradish sauce. The Fried Squash had a light cornmeal batter and perfectly cooked without being greasy. The ranch dipping sauce was thin and creamy, a perfect accompaniment. The shrimp were smallish but also very good, had a dusting of Old Bay but not so much that it overpowered the shrimp. Just a little difficult to peel, but tasted very fresh. The bill came in at $86 before a $15 tip. A little on the high side considering $18 was wasted on uneaten soups. Still, if we are in the Mayport area, we'll not hesitate to stop in to try some other items.

Gave this place a try based off of a friend recommendation. This is a nice place for a family outing. The views were nice. The waiter was nice. We tried the new England clam chowder. In my opinion, it was good. My 4 year old daughter LOVED it. We also tried the smoked salmon dip. Definately not my favorite. We tasted it and never ate out of it again. We ordered the platter for two for $44. It was worth the price. The seafood was fresh. The platter came with deviled crab, shrimp, oysters, baby scallops, clam strips, hush puppies, two sides, and you choose one of four fish. That platter really is enough for 4!!! We still have not eaten it all and have eaten out of it 3 times. Will return!A must try!

We had a 1lb of mayport shrimp, a dozen oysters parmesan, catch of the day (Trigger Fish) and 2 draft beers. Overall the food was excellent and Chris our waiter was very informative on all the dishes and he was great. Market Price is crazy, but we were full afterwards.

Stopped by here for lunch and a few beers. Really hot on the back deck as none of the ceiling fans were working, enjoyed our main entrees, kinda bummed they didn’t have anything to make a sale but we get it, things run out after busy weekends. Steamed oysters were super sandy and I had to give up on them for fear of chipping a tooth. Other than that, server and atmosphere was pleasant

Lunch special NOT worth $15. Lunch basket was a child’s portion!!! Hush puppy’s are tiny and u only get one with lunch specials. Slooowwww service even though there were only 4 tables in restaurant occupied and 2 tables outside occupied with 5 servers waiting tables including the bartender. Fish some parts cooked good other part over cooked but tasted good but no seasoning not even salt! Coleslaw is good. Restroom r not female friendly hot as hell in the coffin sized stall with no lock. Yes your knees will touch the door as you hold the knob so no one walks in on you in this 1 stall restroom had to try 4 times before I could get in.

Me and my boyfriend was looking for good fish and found it. Good tourist spot. The handmade boats was amazing to look at. The could use some polishing up and a better display of them is deserved. Waiter was super nice and helpful. There was live music. The marina is near by. Good fishing spots in the area.

Good seafood with a spectacular view. Eating seafood on the St. Johns River is a locals tradition. Yes, they have world famous Mayport shrimp.

Haven't been in a long time but it was as good as I remembered. Super! Keep up the good work. The only improvement I would make is sharp cheddar in the cheese grits. It was kind of bland but overall was amazing, again.
