12-12 update was there three times since last review 5 month update 1-6-23 great food....delicious Staff were friendly and professional. Our Chef was so fun! Food was absolutely delicious!! I've been to other Hibachi restaurants by Orange park area and Gate Parkway. I truly enjoyed my experience here. Usually, I have more people in my party. This was the first time my party (3) was grouped with strangers (2 sets of couples). They were friendly as well. I'll go back again.

I am sorry to say just two stars but it is the truth. We had a wait of 30 minutes and waited hoping for a great meal. We did not get the great meal, I think they were overwhelmed and try to just feed all of us. From what I could see they had 3 or 4 cooks. Here is the list of items we ordered Two steak dinners Shrimp and filet mignon Salmon and scallops Dinner for two (shrimp, chicken, and steak) All of the meals were served with soup, salad, vegetables and rice. Our server was also having a hard time we were almost done with Dinner when she refilled drinks. Our Chef was not at his best. Just one or two tricks, none of the showmanship. The best I can describe the night is boring. The food was plain and taste less. This is not our go to spot and I am sure we are not going to go back any time soon. The kids look forward to the show but did not get one. Total cost with tip $150

Experience is typical honestly, you've been to 1 you've basically seen them all. The food was good and the service was excellent. The rating is because they don't have normal hood systems over the grill, creating a smoking top layer to the atmosphere that sits on your clothes. The other is they only serve rice. I know I'm complaining but I don't like fried rice so I typically order noodles and since they don't serve then I'm forced to get double veggies. I would like to think a better resturaunt would offer options. Overall good to great experience, I'm just particular with what I like.

Didn't realize they were under new management until I read the reviews. Now I know why our experience was the way it was. We arrived at 5pm as soon as they opened. There were 4 of us, 3 of which traveled over an hour as we were meeting for girls night. I have been here numerous times which is why I was so confused at how rude the staff was. We were the 1st table to be seated. Chef arrived quickly around 5:10. The food was great. The problem was the moment the chef was done the server brought us our bill and asked if we needed boxes. Ummmm...maybe in a few minutes, as we still have over half a plate of food and we are still eating. She proceeds to bring boxes and leave them at the table. The couple across from us at our table were also still eating so it's not like we were being slow. It's probably around 5:40 at this point. We move the boxes to the side and continue to eat. She then comes over to our table and aggressively drops the new plates and silverware on the table and stands there staring at us. What in the actual heck? How rude!! It wasn't like we were just talking and not eating. There was no need to rush us through our dinner. We paid a lot of money for a meal that we had to scarf down simply because they couldn't wait to seat the next table. Rude and distasteful.

My family went today, 11/13/22, to celebrate a great report card for one of our daughters. Each gets to choose a meal of their choice, wherever they want as long as they get all As. We came after church. The host was one of the best, explaining why we were second in line, but not seated with the first and third party, due to their party numbers to make a full hibachi table. That immediately set the mood for positive. Our cook, the black gentleman, made the absolute best flavored food we have ever eaten there today. He also was very cautious to prevent a shrimp allergic reaction for my mom. He wasn’t one to put on a big “show”, but he was extremely professional, and made an amazing tasting meal. We’ve been patrons for over 15 years, and today was by far the best we’ve had. I sure hope to see him in our future dinings here, because he is the best asset on their cook staff to date.

We tipped the chef a good bit extra not knowing there was an 18% gratuity which was fine but it would had changed how much I tipped if I knew that. Other than that, great service, excellent food and would go back again!

Just moved here, Okiwana was highly recommended. We finally get around to checking it out 12/3/22. We was there long enough to place our order, get our drinks, salad, and soup. A roach comes crawling across the table. We immediately got up and left. The waitress also seen the roach and quickly went to the front to tell another staff member but it was all too late. As walking pass all I could tell her was “y’all have a nasty problem to address” . Very disgusting and could only imagine what the food prep and storage area is like. I’m thankful that it happened when it did, I would’ve lost it if I ate from here. I hate to write a bad review but I felt it was necessary to do so only because it was highly recommended by several people and the place had such a large crowd. Also, will be reporting this the health department first thing in the morning. No one deserves to consume food in a unhealthy environment.

Used to be our favorite restaurant but not anymore. Since new owners came in the appearance has improved but service and sushi has been horrible! We were there a few weeks ago, server was rude and barely checked in with our table. We ordered Sushi and Hibachi. The hibachi was delicious and our chef Kevin was great! We waited until we were halfway done with our meal and after asking several times about our sushi we told the server to cancel our order (when she finally walked by and we could get her attention). As we were putting the rest of our food into boxes a manager brought our sushi to order the table. I told him we canceled our order, his only response was "so you don't want this?" I have worked in the service industry, I know sometimes there are bad days so we decided to give them another chance today. Service was better, Kevin was our chef again so hibachi was great. Again, our Sushi took forever and the order was messed up. Very disappointed!

My family loves hibachi and I don’t know why we didn’t try this place sooner. It’s very clean and spacious. There are 12 hibachi tables. A gorgeous koi pond and waterfalls greet you at the entrance. The food was great and service was kind. Will definitely be back!!!

Under new ownership this place still serves cabbage on the Hibachi, which is one of my favorite vegetables sautéed and I am glad they didn't get rid of it. However the last few times we've been here they are STINGY about how much they will give you. New owners didn't do much to this place and ventilation is still terrible. Aside from the above. One of the chef was entertaining - He cooked for other tables. Our chef had to be the manager or lead, because other tables were getting their food cooked and those parties were sat after us. There weren't many cooks in general and our cook was doused in cologne. He was also quite dull so I guess some things never change. Our sever was new and we could tell. He was all over the place and kept getting our orders wrong. Probably also explains why it took an hour for someone to start cooking. The edamame was NOT fresh and the sushi was terrible. At least the Hibachi was good and beers are somewhat cheap. Mixed drinks are still terrible. I keep coming back because of other people's birthdays. I'll probably keep complaining about the same things :-|

The food was great and the cook did a excellent job; however I didn't like the fact that the waitress was forcing me to tip. She stated that the cook has to get paid; me and my family already tipped the cook for doing a fabulous job. I don't think I will be returning there, that waitress put a bad taste in my mouth.

We had a birthday party for my daughter's dad and it was to much fun! Her dad had never been to a Japanese resturant before and we all really had a great time! The chef was to funny and cooked our food as we wanted it. We will be going back again

I only ordered takeout food. It was a good first time experience. The koi fish near the entrance was interesting. While waiting for our order, we watched a chef prepare the food super fast in front of the guests. Will try to dine there sometime, since we come to Jacksonville often enough. We only oredered tempura. It was good.

I took the kids here for dinner last night, and they had the best time! Not only was our server kind and the food great, but our chef, Kevin, was incredible! He really helped my little boy feel special on his birthday. Kevin: you are so sweet and talented! Keep it up!

We've been to this restaurant plenty of times and our experience was always great but tonight was the best! We had a new Chef, Kevin who not only was very friendly but he gave us the best customer experience. Not only was customer service great but he seasoned the food JUST RIGHT! Usually we put a lot of yum yum sauce on our food to enhance the taste. The food was season so well, we didn't need it. Best experience ever at this place!

We love this place! Just underwent some small renovations and cleanup. The food is always really good, the chefs are always fun and friendly. You get a TON of food! We always have lunch for the next day. My kids love the beautiful koi fish pond and waterfall when you walk in and get up from the table several times to go back over and look at them. Overall, a great place for the whole family.

Great food always good, got kinda side blinded by the gratitude they automatically add to your bill but atleast it's a way for them not to be left high and dry and show appreciation. I don't mind it a bit. Very grateful workers for you coming in and choose their business

You can sit that your own table instead of the place where they cook in front of you. Much cheaper than other Japanese restaurants, especially at lunch time. Very large plate of steak, chicken, or seafood for $14. Very nice atmosphere and even a water falls with huge koi fish.

I wish I had a picture of the food but I ate it as soon as it hit my plate. It was delicious. Service was great as always. Worth every penny spent.

Went here for lunch hibachi it was actually the worst experience I'm not even one to write reviews on restaurants very often but maybe I can save someone else from what I had to deal with the waitress was extremely rude I ordered a to go lunch hibachi with steak that was so overcooked I literally could not even chew it it was hard and I asked for it to be med. The rice didn't even taste fresh this place has definitely went downhill I haven't been here in a long time and I definitely will not be coming back it was not worth $20 for disgusting hibachi and about attitude I could have dealt with the food and being bad but the waitress was absolutely ridiculous

The food was great. Hibachi chef was wonderful. My only problem was the restaurant was not full. But we could never find our waitress. I felt like a little kid in school. We were raising my hand to get attention. I tipped the hibachi chef. But I did not give my waitress a tip. I felt like she already got my Gratuity she was not going to get Extra money when she was no worries to be found.

I went to Okinawa's today for a birthday celebration. The food and chef was really good. Actually, the chef was awesome. My issue is that I ordered a sushi roll (Jimmy Smith) and did not like it so I sent it back. When I received my bill it was there. I asked if it could be removed since I only ate one piece, and didn't like it and sent it back. She said they do not do refunds. I said ok, since it's not a refund because I haven't paid, yet. She said I have to pay for it. I wouldn't have had an issue paying for it, if they would have told me up-front that I would have to pay for it if I returned it or not. I would have just given it to someone at my table. I frequent this restaurant often but I'll be hesitant to return. This is an awful policy if it's actually a policy and not left to the waiter's discretion. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars for service is because the chef was great. I would have given 0.

This place is cool and all but it is very smoky. They’re a million hibachi grills in one room and it’s just full of smoke. My eyes were very irritated and I smelled like complete smoke when I left. The food was good don’t get me wrong and the service was pretty cool besides the cook and the waitress having a few words due to having the wrong ticket. I just have never experienced Hibachi like that lol and I always go to Hibachi places.

This was a great experience. I went here for the first time and received more than I expected. The servers were friendly(some should smile more but that's another story) the chef/cook was hilarious he made sure we were having a good time and enjoying the show as he prepared the food. There were some beautiful koi fish when I first entered the building. The atmosphere is just enjoyable. The food portion was more than I expected as well. Overall a great experience, great food, very fun activity for a date, family, friends and kids as well.
