It wasn’t bad, but I expected more from a French cafe. I do appreciate that they have #vegan options. That’s the reason I checked out this place. My thing is that since it is a French restaurant, I expected food to be mouthwatering. I had vegan fare in French restaurants before, and they were able to masterfully veganize French cuisine. Here, they are doing things American lazy style, where minimum effort and ingredients are used, yet sold expensive. I bought the portobello burger and soup. Tasted good, but nothing to knock my socks off. Service wasn’t impressive either. When I went, kids worked the cash register and served.

The burger wasn't flavorful, the cheddar cheese was the saving grace. I thought by the looks of the bun that it would be delicious, but it was just plain tasting to me. At least the burger was a good size, but otherwise I feel that the price was a little much. Food was ready quickly. The menu they have online shows lower prices than they actually have in the restaurant. It was just average.

This place amazing sandwiches and wraps, my go to for lunch downtown. Favorite sandwiches are the beef and Brie (comes with an amazing jus) roast beef and Boursin and the blackened chicken mozzarella sandwiches and then the turkey club wrap. The last two feature their pesto mayo which is amazing. Their wraps are tomato, garlic herb and spinach, all seem homemade and are super good!!

This place is always a pleasure to go to. The staff are courteous and genuinely care about their customers. The food is good and, for downtown, reasobably priced. Fries are a little on the salty side, but their pineapple peach bread pudding more than makes up for it!

I happened on the quaint cafe for a quick bite to eat before going to the main public library across the street. I’m so glad I got there before closing to enjoy the sublime quiche. The goat cheese and asparagus creation had the perfect flaky crust, cooked on the bottom, while maintaining a moist, light, and airy egg filling which was complete perfection. Once piece was not enough and my tastebuds forced me to have a second piece. I am a huge fan of the quiche and I have eaten them during my travels at home and in Europe and I must say, this is without a doubt the best quiche I’ve ever eaten. I left very full with a smile on my face.

I enjoyed the Magnificat. The service was quick and the food was good. The Quiche Lorraine I got was cooked excellently, as Paul and Prue might say it was a "good bake." The chicken soup was delicious. Worth the walk, and I'll be back.

I first came to know the French eatery in February 2020 from my coworker, friend and a long-time patron Tisha Antique ( a great name and a great person ). Tisha kindly presented me with a gift of their creamy, Pineapple & Peach Bread Pudding. Just one bite of the fresh, decadent dessert and I was a fan of Magnificat Café! I have since enjoyed the vegan carrot and ginger soup, russet potato salad and grilled cheese on focaccia with smoked gouda. The portion sizes are enough for two meals, good food and very satisfying. A big THANK You to Chef Benoit, Kathy and Luke for your tireless contribution and wonderfully divine French cuisine made available to the City of Jacksonville for 17 years. Your family and Magnificat Café will be remembered well. Sending sunny, positive thoughts and blessings to your family. Debbie Anna Grace Beal P.S. I saved a small bag with the lovely logo for my scrapbook!

We are sorry to see them close their doors. We started going to them when they first opened years ago since my wife and I both worked downtown. Their soups were amazing as well as their sandwiches being made to order. Also some of his specials that you will not find anywhere else in town were absolutely wonderful. Really going to miss them.

Went today for the first time as we were in the area and had seen them on the news. The place was packed but we were happy to wait. I ordered a blackened chicken salad and a sandwich with roast beef. The salad was amazing! The chicken was moist, the lettuce and tomatoes were all fresh, and the roast beef sandwich was absolutely glorious. I am usually not a fan of roast beef, but it was succulent. I destroyed my meal. My friend got a salad/sandwich combo as well and he rather enjoyed it. I would definitely stop by again and hope to soon! Praying for you!

Finally got to try this lovely restaurant! I got the Turkey, Brie, and Cranberry sandwich with the tomato soup which were both amazing! You wouldn't think they would go together but they tasted fantastic. Wonderful family run business that focuses on bringing awesome food to everyone that places an ordee, whether it be in person, over the phone or for delivery.

Love this place for lunch. The food tastes homemade and wholesome. Simple flavors and ingredients and menu options that provide a much needed break from the typical burger and fry joint. The quiche options are quite good and there are a few vegan soups that look delicious. Sit outside for a relaxing, outdoor lunch where you can watch all the people walking through Hemming Park.
