Was visiting Jacksonville and heard about this spot. The wait was crazy on Dec. 31st. ( 1.5 hours at 11:30am). We waited and it was well worth it. Being that it was one of the busiest weekends of the year they had run out of Oxtails. Oh how I was disappointed. Our waiter recommended the Shrimp and Grits with a piece of Salmon! The flavor was amazing and the the Gouda grits were on point. I would definitely recommend this place if you are in the Jax Area.

Me and my daughter went because of the awesome reviews. I drop money because I want to try everything…got the bottle…it was funnnnn mixing and making your own mimosas. We got the shrimp and grits with salmon and oxtail and grits. Could not eat it all. We warm up food. I promise you it warmed up like the folks had just made it.

Ya'll!!!! I drove from Jacksonville Beach to Uptown Kitchen & Bar, just for their famous Shrimp and grits with Salmon, that I kept hearing about. When I got there for my ''to go order'', there was a little bit of a wait. While waiting, the host and I talked. I explained to him how excited I was and how far I drove. Next thing you know, he surprised me and brought out THE chef, Chef Kevin to meet me. Y'all see the look on my face? I didn't want to seem ''star struck'' meeting this soon to be famous New Orleans chef. My order: Shrimp and grits with Salmon, smoked turkey collard greens, and authentic New Orleans gumbo. Delicious 😀😋 I'm going back for the Catfish and the biscuits with oxtail gravy.👏🏾🤫

This was my second time visiting and I brought a new group of friends. We enjoyed everything! Last time I came at 10 and there was quite a wait (it was well worth it). This time we got there at 9 and the 5 of us were seated right away and we found parking right behind the restaurant. So arriving earlier on Sunday did pay off! In addition to their regular menu they do serve various daily specials. That day they had the lobster omelette which my friend said was moist and yummy. They also had salmon and grits which was very flavorful. Also the fish and shrimp croquettes were perfect packet with flavor and the perfect amount of crunch and moisture! I love this breakfast place! I’m from atl but when I’m in town this is my Sunday brunch spot! They also have $20 mimosa buckets which include a bottle of champagne, orange juice, cranberry juice, strawberry syrup, and peach syrup that you can add yourself. The chef also comes around and checks on all the guests to make sure we are satisfied with our orders which is so nice! If you have not come here, what are you waiting for? Come eat and fill your bellies with some prime eat!

I had fried chicken wings and french toast, which I enjoyed. The chicken was seasoned very well and the french toast was tasty. My date had a breakfast plate that came with pancakes that were rather small. He really liked the grits, and I thought my passion fruit mimosa was delicious. Unfortunately we were sat near the back where the work area and restrooms are, so the atmosphere wasn't too pleasant from our viewpoint. If that could be improved, I'd definitely rate it a 5. Service was great, would recommend.

Visiting Jacksonville and found this place online. While sitting at the bar I heard someone say that they had a new chef at the restaurant and that the food was much better than before. I can say that it didn’t disappoint. The service was also good. I had the fried catfish and grits. Only I would add is more of the sauce they put on top, but the bartender brought me extra. I went during the week so I didn’t wait and there was plenty of street parking. I’ll be back next time I’m in town.

Overall the food is good, but I won’t be returning for dine in. Maybe take only. I didn’t see any disinfecting of the tables between guests, if you have a party of 2 they will sit another party of 2 at your table without warning, so social distancing/ limited capacity is not being utilized at this restaurant. I ordered a side of Gouda grits and didn’t taste any Gouda in them. The servers were nice and personable but clearly overwhelmed with the number of guests.

We visited Jacksonville and needed a good southern breakfast. This place fit the bill! The prices were perfect and the food was excellent. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Street parking. It was busy, but the service was still great. Alcoholic drinks are available. Clean. No complaints!

From the entrance it was Perfect!! We were greeted upon entrance. We sat at the bar for a late breakfast and I’m glad we chose to visit Uptown! This was a great way to start year 35! The ambiance is a casual upscale. Our bartender Kristen was prompt, friendly and great with the drinks! We ordered the catfish w/ grits & the corn beef and hash breakfast. Literally ZERO complaints! The chef was in his zone 🤌🏾

We had an amazing time at this restaurant. That was our first time visiting but not our last. The server was kind and attentive. The patio area looked good, and the atmosphere was peaceful. The wait time for the food was within 10 minutes, and it was definitely fresh. The mimosas were delicious! We ordered the catfish and grits! Catfish was crispy, and the grits were creamy. The fried green tomatoes were good also.

The Uptown Kitchen and Bar was phenomenal and nice clean place. The staff was so welcoming and very friendly. They really left the impression on you. The menu prices were at a decent price specially, for somebody from VA coming to try something new. It was very delicious and was not disappointing at all. I will recommend this at a 10 out of 10 and would definitely advise anybody coming to Jacksonville to stop by.

This was our first time visiting Uptown Kitchen and Bar the food was delicious we went on a Thursday and it was pretty packed but we got a seat outside I had the waffles and fried chicken and Hubby had the Load Shrimp and Grits with sausage and fried catfish oh my goodness I couldn’t stop eating out of his dish and I am not normally a fan of shrimp and grits but these were the best he’s ever had and we had the Strawberry Fields Mimosa “delicious” there was a candied strawberry at the bottom of the mimosa. Definitely a must try oh and the Philly cheesesteak egg rolls divine.

I had a beautiful experience dining at Uptown. Medium sized restaurant and bar with an upscale, efficient kitchen. I was surprised by the amount of oxtail specials, however today's mission was the chicken and waffles. Every other time that I've had chicken and waffles, they've given me tenders, this time I had the choice for wings - and boy was I glad I made that choice. The seasoning on the chicken was finger-licking good, and wax only heightened by lathering on the pancake syrup on top. Fresh and fit waffle size with the perfect amount of crisp to the waffle. My server was very nice, and they use little digital machines to make checkout very quick.

I had a great time here with me and my family. Alana our server was great. She took care of us the whole time and made sure we were satisfied from the start of our meal to the end. I got the chicken a waffles and it was delicious. The food was nice and hot when it arrived at the table and the service given ensured that I would come back. Overall me and my family had a great time eating at Uptown Kitchen and Bar and I’m sure your family will too!

First visit, and it did not disappoint!! From the front house service of Alana to the tipsy drinks from Tony the bartender, I was satisfied!! E had the shrimp and grits and the chicken and waffles, which you can choose wings or tenders!! The hurricane drink was a whole Category 5... still feeling the aftermath! Lol run, don't walk, to Uptown Kitchen! I'm gonna beat you there!!

First if you haven’t been here don’t think twice. You must go. The food was so good haven’t had food that so fresh and favorable as this place. The service was excellent. I do suggest going early on the weekend. This place is good and people know it. So it’s a crowded at times. If I could would give this place 10 stars. And I will be back once I travel into Jacksonville again.

There's not too many restaurants that make good grits. Uptown Kitchen is definitely one of them! You'll have to wait if going for brunch on the weekend, but it's worth it. I got the Uptown Breakfast bowl and was thoroughly impressed with how the good the grits were from flavor and texture standpoint. I also got a short stack of pancakes, and they were so light and soft they literally melt in your mouth. I'll definitely be back!!!

Great spot for brunch. Waiting outside with friends makes the wait to get in more like girl time. There are a few easy upgrades that this place could use. DJ, outside bar window for drinks while you wait to be seated, would make this a VIBE A must visit weekly spot in the new Springfield area. Heck, the drink window would make it a daily treat. Overall , it was a good experience.

Very pleasant Mother's Day breakfast! We sat outside in the beautiful morning. Portions were great, waitstaff were attentive and food was very tasty, especially the gouda grits! Although, they were out of their seafood stew written on the board for the weekend, which I really was set on having... as well as one of their cocktail choices. On a big day like Mother's Day, I'd have thought they would have made sure to have plenty on hand for what is traditionally the largest day for restaurants while giving Mom a break from cooking 😥 We were there at 8 am... the beginning of the day. Outside.. the traffic was really loud at times..

First time visiting this restaurant and it won't be my last. The food is AMAZING! I ordered the chef special omelet with a side of gouda grits and a biscuit. The grits were the best that I've had in my entire life, even better than my mothers. The chef special omelet contained lobster, shrimp, onion and cherry tomatoes topped with a remoulade sauce. I wouldn't have imagined those flavors pairing well together but it was an explosion of flavor. The chef is a New Orleans native and was visiting the tables speaking with the patrons making sure they were satisfied and the food was to their liking. This is what I call customer service. I am recommending this place to everyone. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed.

Salmon and Grits were amazing. Other people in my party got the Oxtail quesadilla and Chicken Sandwich. Everyone loved their food. Every single staff member was so nice and sincere and everyone had smiles on their faces. The restaurant was so clean and spacious. Very great experience overall.

Great atmosphere and great responsive service. Came for breakfast, 1st one in the building. Pancakes not the best, and I am a pancake connoisseur. Same with the French toast. Overall, food could have been hotter, it was luke warm. Bacon was very crispy, loved it. Eggs made to perfection. Also tried the salmon croquettes. Best thing I ordered. Very, very good. Will return again to try the oxtails.

Nice place for a basic meal. My friends salmon dish looked amazing, she liked it, my French toast was meh. Just a slice of bread. One slice and just the most meh thing ever. Same thing you could get at an IHOP. A cracker barrel breakfast tastes better than what I had, so I was disappointed in my meal cuz it was like $15 or $17 but it didn't taste bad so points for that. Service was good and our waitress was friendly and sweet! The wait wasn't too bad. I didn't give 3 stars cuz that seems too harsh and the salmon looked good so maybe they just aren't great at making exceptional breakfast/brunch food. It wasn't bad but the food to cost ratio wasn't there for me. It was just okay...a basic brunch.

If I could give a solid 3.5 I would. Food was decent. Fantastic gouda grits. Didn't think we'd like it, but it works REALLY well. Had chicken and waffles. Chicken was REALLY dry. Maybe over cooked. The biscuits and gravy were average. Eggs are eggs and the home fries were standard run of the mill potatoes. Service was spot on. Our waitress kept our glasses full. If you are a fan of MIMOSAS... this is your hometown mimosa location. Came here on game morning and it seemed like EVERYONE was getting a mimosa with Stawberry, Orandlge or Cranberry puree. Apparently, they are REALLY good 😀

The food was decent but I believe the kitchen was swamped. I really liked the drink menu which had a different selection of things you can have in the morning, including multiple options for mimosas. Our waitress was awesome. The only thing I wish is that a food was better.

$$$…Prices not listed for the ox tails $35 for breakfast portion with only 2 pcs. Should be 4 pcs at that price. The food was delicious. Don’t include a tip, they took care of that for you already. They almost got us for additional tip!

  • 3/5 Raquel P. 7 months ago on Google
The food was delicious and it was an okay experience. I had to ask for a refill and my husband never got one. The food took about an hour to get. For simple breakfast it shouldn’t take so long. Maybe They were just short staffed.

We ordered the salmon croquettes, catfish & grits, grits bowl, kids meal, 2 pancakes, french toast, sweet tea. Salmon taste like crab so I figured it was the lowest grade of salmon. Cafist was good but grits needed more seasoning or sauce because the sauce is just a few drizzles so dish is too dry. It says spinach & tomato but little had 1 cherry tomato cut in half & maybe 3 spinach leaves. Grits bowl was tasty but definitely needed more gravy because grits were bland and overall the dish was dry. Pancakes were basic but worth the price. French toast was basic & not worth the price, its $5 for 1 pc of bread. Syrup can make or break & it was a break. Sweet tea wasn't sweet enough.

FEMA would fire someone and there would be congressional hearings if food like this was served to evacuated people or refugees. The laminated piece of copier paper they used as a menu lacked prices. The bar was dirty. There was pre packed, plastic silverware, the portions were small. I literally may have had a microwaveable Jimmy Deans breakfast biscuit. The dish was dirty. Cheap, plastic syrup container. Numerous orders were sent back for lack of an menu item. It appears that Mimosa and alcohol deals are what brings people in and the food and service falls by the wayside. The entire staff less the bartender who did an excellent job appeared to be hired from a local halfway house or homeless shelter and it carried over in so many ways. It was otherwise cramped and shoulder to shoulder. I’m not sure who runs this place, but I can see it’s the booze and not the food that bring the people in and thus gets the focus. I’d highly advise seeking alternatives and note the location. Nothing else in the area.

Been to this establishment twice. The first time was a Sunday afternoon and the place was packed. The second time was on a Tuesday around 2pm and it was fairly empty. If you go during peak times, parking may be a challenge and you may have to wait for a table. I sat outside on my second visit and was greeted by a passerby. No matter the time or day, the food was really good. This could easily be one of my favorite places to eat based on the quality of the food and the fast and friendly service.
