Not impressed at all. We tried it. You know something is up when the person takes your order and then prepare and cook your order. We ordered Brown Stew Chicken and Jerk Chicken. It took about 15mins after ordering. When I opened the to-go containers I couldn’t tell the difference between the orders. Turns out the jerk chicken is baked with the wet jerk sauce that you can buy from the local grocery store and the brown stew wasn’t brown at all. I don’t know. The beef patty was good. I can say that. If you are looking for an authentic Jerk I say go somewhere else. I know some of you might disagree, but this is worth it. It’s not what I’m accustomed to. I have eaten a lot of Jamaican Jerk plenty of times while in Jamaica. This wasn’t it. A lot of the items on the menu were not available. Those items are cooked to order. A more longer wait time. Oh yeah, bring your own soap to wash your hands. There was no soap or towels in the bathroom. Best of luck.

I could see if the food was good with bad service, but you have bad food and bad service? I am not Jamaican but my oxtails would run circles around this. The young lady in the front had an attitude and was not inviting. Never coming back

The food was absolutely delicious! We just moved to the area and came across this restaurant but doing a Google search of places to eat near by. The staff is very friendly and the wait time is very minimal. They have definitely gained new customers in myself and my boyfriend. I recommend you try this place the menu is almost never ending lol you're sure to find something there you'll enjoy.

Delicious food! Chef Irie handled everything on his own and did an amazing job! I will be back.

Food was disgusting. The oxtail plate didn’t taste good at all. I ordered Mac & Cheese with my plate. They gave me old baked Mac & Cheese that was probably 3 to 4 days old. The noodles were dried and crunchy. Everyone knows what fresh Mac and & Cheese looks like. What I received was an old dish warmed up. It was disappointing. Never again.

WARNING! Stay Away! Sign in store: NO Refunds/ALL sales FINAL. 1st time there AND LAST TIME. Undone jerk chicken wings. ITS A CASH GRAB RESTURANT! Don't care about quality of food. (wouldn't have sign if did) Sadly, I realized this once I left. Was no need to complain in person, due to sign and wouldn't trust to redo food. Staff was nice though. Stay away people! Air fryer cooks better than this staff.

Those oxtails are the truth ! I will definitely be back for more for sure. Customer service is amazing. The owner/ chef told me he’s been there 8 years & is the only one running the establishment. My food was fresh , hot & it didn’t take longer than 30 minutes. Check him out ! You won’t regret it

I just had one of the most delicious oxtail dinners ever at Mad O Caribbean and Seafood restaurant. The oxtail was so tender and flavorful served over rice and beans, , and the cabbage side dish was so fresh,it tasted like it just came out of a garden. The staff were all very friendly. It's a small restaurant with big-tasting food! I didn't know this place existed, but I plan on many more trips to this restaurant when I want authentic Caribbean food! And I'm telling all my friends about it too!!

Horrible food ! Cook will handle money and go right back to making your food without washing his hands . How gross can one be ! We Ordered Oxtail and Jerk chicken which the Oxtail was pale to the color and had no taste of oxtail seasoning . Tasted like Stew chicken to be honest . On top of paying $17+ for the oxtail plate , the cabbage was old tasted as though it was sitting since morning . Now this was Dinner time . Came with no plantains which would have been expected for the price we paid . My partners Jerk chicken plate was $12+ and he barely had chicken in his plate . Chicken had tiny tiny pieces . At this point what an insult to a paying customer who’s order was almost $40. We’ve paid $12 else where for a lot bigger portion for the same price . Honestly this business has let us down so many times and we keep coming back bc it’s convenient but it’s the last straw for us . If you’re going to raise your price make sure you raise your standards on how you prepare your “Island food” for people and how you serve them . Not to mention its always filthy looking inside , table are always dirty from prior customers. I would drive an extra hr or 3 to find better food than to waste my money here again . Disgusting 🤢

Maaaaan, Listen!!! You gotta stop in here! I've been eating island cuisine my whole life and this place is phenomenal. The menu is full of gems and you've gotta add a side of plantains to whatever you eat (a must!). Can't say enough about the conch fritters, either. To boot, the owner is one of the nicest people you'd come across. 5 star!

Not good.. your welcome for the donation. I ordered jerk chicken dinner with no jerk sauce to taste the meat. The Portion was small, the chicken was not from a grill and was cut in to pieces that did not equal a full chicken leg. I ordered the dinner size upon recommendation. I do not recommend.

Decided to give Mad O Caribbean a shot. Ordered the whole snapper “jumbo”, jerk chicken quesadillas, and conch fritters. The food looked pretty good BUT there was absolutely NO flavor in any of the dishes. I know conch prices have gone up but geez…there one small chunk of conch in each flavorless fritter. I gave 3 stars because at least the Bob Marley playlist was jammin

Delicious good. Our party of 9 enjoyed every bite! Tried the plantain appetizer - so yummy! As well as the corn tots! Jerk chicken with cabbage and rice was perfect! We loved the ginger drinks!

Contacted this place to ask about their jerk chicken plate, and what all is included in that plate. Instead of her demonstrating patience and using a calm tone, she was catching an attitude when answering our questions which only dummies behave like this. If anyone is looking for good Jamaican food, please go to Famous Jerk Chicken or Stars Caribbean.

I can appreciate cook to order food! Not typical in a JA restaurant so I fully appreciated it when I received fresh, hot food! Flavors on point and the snapper and shrimp were fresh. The patties are delicious! I will be eating here every time I visit Jacksonville. Chef Irie is a delight. He’s friendly and can cook!!! The dining room is basic but CLEAN so that’s all that matters in my opinion.

I wanted a combination of seafood & Caribbean since we all wanted something different so I came across this restaurant after doing a Google search. The owner was pleasant the entire time & made sure to ask me again exactly what/how I wanted my sides which were the beans w/ rice & cabbage. When the food came out everything looked, smelled, & tasted delicious so we all were very pleased w/ our choice & plan on visiting again.

We visited Mad O Seafood for the first time last night. Our daughter picked it for her last meal in Jax before heading off to college. What a great experience! The food is fantastic, especially the Bob Marley chicken. The staff were so hospitable and kind, and especially helpful to me with my gluten allergy choices. At the end of our meal Chef Irie personally walked out to say hello and treated our table to an order of their beignets to celebrate our daughter’s send-off to college. We will definitely be back and looking forward to exploring the whole menu, and their lunch specials!

Oxtail dinner with cabbage and rice and peas, was to die for. The cabbage ALONE made me want to hug the cook. The plantains were perfectly done and the beef patty was incredible. Plenty of food for 2 people but I refused to share. The service was impeccable, I wish I would’ve gotten the woman’s name running the front, she was an absolute sweetheart. I’ll be back for some goat next time. 🖤

The chef is an authentic Jamaican with a great personality. I ordered oxtail and rice and peas with a side of plantains and cabbage and I have to give the food only one star. Man that oxtail was so salty and they soaked the rice with the gravy. My son barely touched his meal and when I tasted it I realized that it was a mess. While I can appreciate the Jamaican atmosphere of the restaurant I want to encourage them to try to do better with the food.

First time visit with my man on my birthday. It was late and the owner was so kind to us. Food is delicious and we will be back soon. I ordered oxtails and he had the curry chicken. We loved it. Thank you!! I'm coming back for the goat. Those plantains are delicious too. 😋🙏🏿

I feel bad about how long it took me to sit down to write this review; but I guess, better later than never. I asked the Chef at Mad O's to cater several dishes for an impromptu wedding for my dad. At first, I was hesitant because many of the guests would be flying in from Trinidad and I know how picky they can be when it comes to food. However, Chef won them over! The food was great, the food was prepared on time and with no problems. The biggest hit was the oxtail (which is a personal favorite of mine). Additionally, the beignets were a hit with all the sweet tooth's at the wedding. But the biggest thing that I appreciated about the Chef: I told him we would have a few vegetarians in the group and while it was not on his menu, he prepared curried potatoes for the group. Not only was the dish so well prepared; but, there were no leftovers either. Chef, I'm sorry this review took so long; but really, you did an amazing job and I appreciate the love you put behind your dishes. Thank you!

The food was delicious, I had the backend shrimp, the vegetables were fresh and the rice and beans were really good! Skip the fries, they are from a frozen bag, go with the plantains. It is summer, the AC wasn't quite up to par. Get takeout. The owner family is nice and the experience is authentic!

Me & my coworker went for the lunch special, and from first sight food was sitting on the stove with no one managing the temperatures to make sure food was edible. We both decided to order Wings and fries, and received a little medium sized box with uncooked chicken in the middle. My stomach hurts and I had to eat some cookies to subside the fishy fried chicken taste. Unfortunately, we will not be returning to this establishment and we see why there is a for sale sign on the second door as you walk in.. The cook/cashier was doing all the work and was very pleasant but the food not so much. Undone chicken is not good for the soul!

If you are looking for authentic, home cooked style Jamaican food, you are in the right place. Not only do the beef patties melt in your mouth, but the curry goat and jerk chicken are mout watering. The refreshing cabbage on the side and mountain of rice and beans put it all together into one really tasty mouth full. The owner himself is so hospitable and kind. 100% a place you want to grab a bite from.

Don’t waste your time, literally… I rarely write reviews but I just couldn’t let this one slide. I just moved here from South FL so I know good Jamaican food. Saw this place was literally 5 mins away and decided to try it out as I’ve been looking for a decent Jamaican restaurant. Walked in and the place was a mess, first red flag. Noticed I was literally the only customer there on a Friday afternoon, second red flag. I try to support small business and decided to try them anyway. I specifically asked if they had an item on the menu available and was told yes. What I wasn’t told was that I was gonna have to wait over 30 minutes for my food. Your better off buying jerk sauce from Publix and cooking it yourself. Extremely slow service! And overpriced for what your getting. Definitely not authentic Jamaican cuisine, I knew when the menu said” rice and beans” because Jamaicans cook “rice and peas”. There’s a sign saying no refunds or exchanges in red on the counter, third red flag. A literal waste of my time. I could have sat down at a restaurant and got faster service. If your gonna make customers wait 40 minutes for a plate of rice and chicken while employees sit at the counter eating and talking on their phones, the least you can do is warn them about the wait time or only accept orders that are put in ahead of time. Just bad business all around. This place is so unprofessional and I will never go back. I’m mad I spent 16$ on jerk chicken, a dish that is usually 8-10$ a plate at a REAL JAMAICAN RESTAURANT fresh off the hot grill in under 5 minutes. Don’t waste your time or money…

Looking around for Jamaican / Caribbean restaurants open after 7. I came across Mad O, and I’m so glad my father and I stopped here. The jerk chicken was an easy 9.5/10 , the plantains were amazing, the jerk sauce is to die for, and the coco bread was FRESH at 7:30pm (that’s unheard of in Maryland , where we are from). Over all experience was phenomenal and we will be back for sure.

Service and Beef Patty was good but that's it. Ordered a Jerk Chicken lunch plate. It was not fresh at all definitely from the night before. No major seasoning like you'd expect and the portion size does Not match the pictures shown. I am convinced that the reviews are by friends, family or Folks that have no clue what real Jamaican Cuisine should taste like. Its safe to say they can get away with serving this food because of the area but this place is a 0 compared to the Caribbean Resturants on the West & North Sides of Jax....now thats where all the authentic favorable spots are located!!
