We had zero expectations for this hotel and it did not meet them. At check in, the representative was talking on the phone with a friend and made us wait until she was done before helping us. The room was dirty - food under the bed (which our dog discovered and ate) and hair in the shower. The hotel itself is an ugly concrete and stucco building surrounded by a massive parking lot and the access to the river walk is behind a strip of abandoned offices. We just needed a place to stay for one night, thank goodness, and we could not wait to leave in the morning.

An Old building with updated rooms. They looks well appointed however I question if they every really check anything. I found the main shelf was leaning and coming apart. The light fixtures along the bed are led 1 out of 4 worked. Yes I checked all combinations of the light switches. Also one fixture was loose. Again it looked updated. Now the bathroom was updated and clean. The shower was good and a the bathroom had a barnyard style door which was cool however it cannot be locked. Not an issue with me but again a little odd. Of note it appears they will be renovating the main lobby as they have a display of what's coming. Other pluses are being literally a 30 second walk to the Riverwalk which is great and short drive to downtown. The stadium can be seen in the distance across the river as well. So location is great

This hotel is in need of a renovation. Much older than most Marriott's I have seen. The room upon stepping in looks great, however, as your stay progresses, you see issues. Almost all of the hardware in the room is loose, barely hanging on to the walls or their fixture. The chairs on the balcony had loose screws holding them together. The pool area was very dirty and in need of a makeover. The conference center was very nice and welcoming. Received "free" breakfast, but had to pay an upcharge for the buffet style breakfast. Old potatoes, bacon, and sausage as it tasted. Only saving grace was the eggs. Overall, as a loyal Marriott customer, I would rather stay at the Hyatt across the river than this property again.

We really felt so at home in this hotel. Upon welcome, the staff was friendly and welcoming. We got a room with a balcony which was scarce. We also got a great recommendation for a nail salon in walking distance. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The AC worked so well. The shower was hot and excellent and water pressure. I told my husband that I never slept so good in a hotel bed. It was just like home. Even the halls were quiet. The only things that were wrong was there was not free coffee downstairs in the morning. The vanity light in the bathroom was blown, but we didn’t call for repair because we were too tired. Also it did smell like weed and cigarettes occasionally, but that is pretty usual these days. We will definitely stay again!!

Nice hotel close to downtown. They keep the hallways freezing cold even when it's cold outside. There were only 2 people working the front desk with a long line of people trying to check in, and the phone was ringing off the hook. But that seems to be the norm this day and age. The gentlemen who helped me was keeping it cool, calm, and collected, and he was very friendly and efficient! The hotel itself seems older and somewhat renovated. It was clean and got the job done.

I was very surprised with this hotel, after having a misunderstanding with the room and communicating it to the lobby staff. It turned out to be a very pleasant experience overall. The hotel staff is amazing, very friendly and accommodating. Excellent services. The Pier 1515 restaurant is excellent. Franklin provides customer service that is cordial, friendly, and with a great sense of humor.

Awful experience from beginning to end . I booked through a third party. Once I arrive the front desk associate Walter put me in a already occupied room. The valet guy was the person that actually caught the mistake.once I got to the right room my view was moldy pipes. Also once I checked out I realized I was still charge the full rate from the hotel on top of the third-party price. Once I realize I immediately contacted the hotel and explain to them what had happened . I spoke with the manager after a week of trying to catch her leaving messages and my phone number and no one ever return my phone call. I spoke with the manager she assured me that she would call me back I never received a phone call back and the charges are still appearing on my card. I will never step foot in this hotel again unless it’s a credit from them. I understand mistakes happen but the customer service was just awful and again the issue still hasn’t been resolved! I really didn’t wanna write this review but they kinda left me no choice. I would hate for anyone they have this experience

The hotel was very nice, though when I checked my reservation and arrived it wasn't what was told. We received an upgrade to the Hart room and had a pool side area. The walk to the bay was close and nice at night time. We went to the KC v. Jax game and it was a fun day overall!! A.M. breakfast was nice at the hotel and the bar was a bit packed but do-able for a couple drinks

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Bed was super comfy The full size shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the shower was nice. The rooms were very dark and a little musty (common in FL because of the humidity) but it was overall a comfortable stay.

This hotel let my expectations! I needed something affordable that didn’t look like a crime scene, and this hotel delivered! I got to enjoy free parking a very clean room and a friendly staff member! I felt secure and the parking was free! All in all for the price, you can’t ask for anything better, don’t let the infrastructure fool you! The bathrooms are well kept and the beds are super clean! Thanks for the stay!

Polite and friendly staff, all the way from the desk to the cleaning guy. Beautiful nautical decor inside. We love the glass elevators too! The room is clean (also smells clean) and the hot water and powerful pressure made it hard to leave the shower. 😆 They have a full bar and limited food menu as well. The food is plenty and phenomenally delicious! Fresh green beans, real mashed potatoes, great flavor. Well worth it!

This property is definitely renovated, but not quite finished. I had a great 2 night stay. We chose to go to The Village Bread Cafe for brunch since Pier 15 didn't seem to have solid gluten-free options. I wasn't in need for anything. Also, Aaron K at the front desk was fantastic! He was the most friendly employee there!

Good customer service. The bar area is nice and the food was good. Weather was terrible so I didn't check out the area. Room was clean and comfortable. Nice large shower. Had a balcony with a pool view. thing I didn't like was the parking.

Although I did not stay at a room in the hotel, I attended a convention of the National Federation of the Blind which was held this October, 2022. I attended the Convention Banquet there and the hotel banquet food was awesome! Generally, banquet food is terrible but this food could have held its own at any restaurant I have ever attended! The hotel staff was very friendly, courteous and professional. The hotel has just undergone a major renovation and is very beautiful. . I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for first-class accommodations.. Highly recommended.. A+

Very nice hotel. I am pleased with my stay overall. The room was clean and comfortable. Checkin was easy and staff was friendly. It was a bit of a process to get a receipt via email as I booked though a room block for work, but the sales staff was prompt in providing it. Although I didn’t visit it, the bar/restaurant seemed busy each night so it must be a good popular spot. I loved the view of the river. I would definitely stay again!

Gabriel Allen, Banquet Manager at the Southbank Hotel enhanced our business meeting experience with his high quality service. Gabriel Allen showed his expertise and passion when he immediately developed a positive relationship with all of our meeting participants. Gabriel Allen gave us his direct mobile contact number so that if we ever needed anything, we could reach him right away. We had the pleasure of collaborating with Gabriel Allen producing and delivering a highly successful team building workshop to the company's leadership team. Our session attendees told us they felt very impressed with the training, knowledge, and professionalism that Gabriel Allen demonstrated in his craft. Gabriel Allen worked tirelessly to deliver additional equipment to our meeting which facilitated a smooth, engaging meeting for us. I am certain that Gabriel Allen is a great asset to the Marriott Bonvoy team. Thank you, Gabriel Allen!

The customer service was amazing! From the ladies at the front desk, the guys at the valet, to the bartender. Each one was very respectful and friendly. Definitely made the experience a great one. As for the hotel itself, looks can be very deceiving. From the outside, I was a bit nervous because it looked a bit run down but once I stepped inside, it was a different story. The lobby was great and the rooms were nice as well.

My wife and I stay here quite often, one of the main reasons we love staying here is the outstanding service the front desk provides! Walter at the front desk is absolutely amazing. He treats everyone of his guest with the most respect and makes people feel like they're at home! He is also very well dressed every time we see him which is a really good first impression! Thank you Walter!

This is a great central location for Jacksonville. I’ve previously been in this area in the past and never knew this hotel was here. Very nice with the layout and staff are super helpful. Rooms are adequate size and delivered the needed comfort. Unfortunately there are rooms on the 2nd floor that allow the noise level from the bar to be heard in the rooms over the bar area. There’s a piano for guests to enjoy or a pool table and other gaming for guests as well. Considering some of the other hotels in the area valet parking is still an option and reasonable in terms of cost.

Omg! Such an amazing difference! I came here 4yrs ago and didn't have the experience I had this time! The AMAZING experience I had dealing with Ben, Sawyer, Zach and Greg will keep me always staying here! Such amazing customer service, personalities and just a light of sunshine from each one.. Ben - I had an issue with my check in, he fixed it, was apologetic and just made it better..later that night I needed a light bulb, well we have to call maintenance and send them to your room...not Ben, he had a light bulb in his damn back pocket! So clever and so attentive with his immediate response...Sawyer? Makes the best freaking drinks, Zach and Greg were the best host, the best at your service guys a customer could ask for! Thank you guys for making my stay amazing!! I don't like coming to Jacksonville but if and when I do, I'm coming here because of you guys!!

Very nice place, they were renovating while we were there but staff was friendly and location was great! We stayed for the Jacksonville Ravens game and the Water taxi comes right up and can take you right to the stadium from rear of hotel. Definitely would recommend and would stay again. Also rooms were very clean and I even saw supervisors checking housekeepings work after the rooms were cleaned by staff.

Great experience. The front desk staff were super nice, helpful, friendly & promptly addressed an issue with a microwave. The bar & restaurant staff are awesome. The room was spacious & clean. The mattress was very comfortable which was a plus because I have lower back issues. Huge shower & modern fixtures in the bathroom. It overlooks the river & steps from the train & restaurants. We attended the Jazz Festival & everything was convenient. I would highly recommend if visiting Jacksonville. Selina D., Decatur. GA.

This hotel is in a fantastic location and the staff are wonderful, but the building is in serious need of an update. Maybe is was nice back in the 1970s. Many areas of stained carpets and upholstry throughout, and the exposed duct work in the vaulted lobby is filthy. Mold and mildew all over the covered ducts and the air vents look very dirty. These are all directly over the bar. Not a healthy place to stay!

Nice rooms, beautiful area, and hotel. We have stayed here several times while in Jax and it's never disappointed. The staff have always been very polite and professional. I wish I had thought to take some view pics of the river.

We stayed here 1 night and the service was excellent! Front desk service upon check in by Danajan (?) couldn’t have been better. She was friendly, professional, and quick! The room was beautiful and the shower had HOT water. Special shout to Diana who was cleaning the lobby. She was wicked sweet to us and took moments out of her busy day to welcome us and make us feel right at home.

Clifton saved New Years Eve this year for me and my family. After checking into the Hilton Double Tree on Riverwalk on December 30th to watch the fireworks on New Years we we're extremely disappointed and disgusted with the rooms of the Doable Tree Hotel a couple of miles aways. We left the Double Tree and went to Marriott Southbank and Clifton went above and beyond to accommodate my entire family with clean and comfortable rooms not caring if the hotel was entirely booked and did not have the rooms we wanted available. He checked room by room until he was able to find 5 rooms for us including one room with a balcony which were basically overbooked. This type of service is rarely given by hotel employees but luckily for us Clifton was at the front desk and saved the day. Thank you so much Clifton as we will never forget the attention and kind gestures toward us and will always remember what you did for us and the extremely good service you provided to us our entire stay.

Bad. Parking is inconvenient and they charge you $12 to park and post 100 signs saying they’re not responsible for theft of vehicles. Rooms are bad. Damage ALL over the bathroom, a lot of it. Mattress feels about 45 years old. Internet was atrocious. Pretty certain the doors are made of cardboard, you can hear EVERYTHING from the courtyard. Wouldn’t stay here again if it was $20/night. I’ll said it again, bad!

We had a very poor experience, from being checked in to a dirty room, to a broken room, to a room that smelled weird(not terrible just weird) but by that time we gave up, to being comped breakfast , very slow, cold over cooked food, just a poor experience, .... if you do stay though, valet your car so it's in the locked gate, so many homeless around for a semi nice area, there were cops out front dealing with someone everyone we went to go leave. ..... the sweet bartender who was there this weekend was great though,!

This trip was a getaway with my girlfriends and we had an AMAZING time. When we arrived, Mr. Washington went above and beyond to help us. The hotel was absolutely beautiful, clean and the employees made us feel so welcome, like they knew us all our lives. That's an experience we've never felt at any other hotel. Great job guys!!! We like to ask for names so we can give credit and acknowledgement to whom it's due. Mr. Osorio made sure our room was ready on time and checked in with us to make sure we had everything we needed. He said if we needed anything we should not hesitate to contact him (not too many people do this). This was such a wonderful vacation, we truly look forward to going back. We will definitely stay at the Southbank Hotel in Jacksonville Riverwalk again and will recommend this hotel to all of our friends who will be visiting Jacksonville, Florida. - Carmen, Teresa and Evelyn - "The Golden Girls"

My dog and I were here for 3 months. From day 1 they treated us like family. The outside of the building has an old Howard Johnson look, but the inside was beautiful and clean. I loved waking up to seeing dolphins. The hotel staff was the best ever!! They are renovating so I can't wait to see it once complete.

Make sure to use ʜoᴛᴇʟʙᴏʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking a room. This web site will compare countless hotel sites and usually will have rooms much cheaper compared to others! You're welcome :)! This place is one of the highest rated in this area. I have been staying here for years. If you stay for a few nights you definitely won't regret it. Room was small and basic, not what I expected, but everything else was Fantastic! Service and staff are great, full bar, pool, right on the water. I woke up late to check out, the manager called and politely asked me if I was staying again. No big issue, no banging on the door. 100% recommend

My fiancé and I stay here quite often. It’s an absolutely wonderful hotel. Moe at the the front desk is excellent! She always makes sure our needs are met! She is a true gem to come across! They have a wonderful pool and bar. You can also play pool in the game room which is outstanding! We enjoy our stays here very much and our looking forward to our next trip!

Great weekend at the Georgia /Florida game. The hotel is being upgraded and will be amazing once it’s complete and can’t wait to come back to see the final results. Great location with the water taxis right across the road. Walter at the front desk was was so friendly and helpful and was always quick to help with any questions. Looking forward to our stay next year.

I came in town to participate in Jacksonville Caribbean Carnival (check out what you missed- same name on IG, FB & X). My place to stay was SouthBank Hotel. I've stayed here previously but this visit was even better! From entry the Front desk staff were so pleasant and professional definitely service with a smile! Which is rare these days. They also recommended places for dining which were excellent choices. My room was very clean and when you turn on the TV it reads welcome & your name. (Very cute & personal touch). Huge TY to Pier 1515 breakfast staff, exceptional service as well. And the location on the riverfront. Just calming and relaxing. I look forward to visiting soon. And keep up the awesome service! #NFEWO

What a disappointment. This place was understaffed to handle the guest needs. We came here to watch the 49ers the bar area was packed and they had 2 ppl working the entire area. The bar tenders gave up trying to take orders. I feel like they should have been better prepared knowing how booked they were. We were told they couldn't handle food orders either so we ordered pizza delivered and went up to the room. We tried to stream Netflix but the hotels bandwidth was so maxed out you couldn't watch anything. So now we're staying at a place that can't accommodate food, drinks or tv for their guests. What a joke. The hotel is obviously using a cheap internet connection around 100mbs when all they would need to do is upgrade to 1G for about $500/mo, $6k/yr to make your guests happy. When I complained I was told by the staff that they've complained for years and that management doesn't care. Won't be coming back and will make sure to not recommend to anyone coming to Jacksonville.

I stayed in this hotel for a whole week. location is good so are the bedrooms - they are big and wide. however, frontdesk people are rude, and are not helpful at all. people from the bar dont really pay attention to the costumers. During the weekend, the hotel gets crowded and noisy, which can be quite challenging to sleep because people keep screaming & drinking on the corridors and the staff doesnt do anything about it. I actually called the staff and they didnt do anything. It seems like a normal thing there. I hope I will never have to go back to this hotel, it was a major disappointment.

The hotel was nice, the man at the front desk and the night security were phenomenal. They made all the difference for my stay at the hotel. My flight was delayed and I arrived much later than expected. He got me checked in my room quickly. I was disappointed to see my room was dirty. The floor looked like it had never been vacuumed the nightstands have glass tops and the class was filthy. The bathroom sink had hair around it. I didn't complain because I arrived around 2:30. I just cleaned the sink and nightstand myself. Again, If it wasn't for the guest service rep doing the night audit that night and the hospitality of the security guy, I would have complained my whole stay.

Up and coming location. Quiet and very comfortable. Recent refresh done tastefully as I would expect from this brand. At this point a work in progress. Staff was friendly, accommodating and welcoming. Off the beaten path, but well worth the stop. Top floors facing east offer a great view of the river. Sitting watching the sunrise as I type. Not worthy.

The Hotel has a great location, but this is the best I can say about it. The Hotel is very old, which you can tell once you walk inside of it, by using the slowest elevator on this planet and especially by entering the room. The first room was smelling REALLY bad! The second room had hair in the bathroom and a very sticky carpet! The personal was on a friendly level “ok”. Are we going to be back? No we won’t. Next time we will try to go to the Hyatt or the Marriott across the street.

I am Marriott titanium elite... So I stay a lot. This hotel is HORRIBLE I will never stay again. I have stayed there several times (10+ nights over 2 years) and the staff was rude and nasty - outright arguments with me and the guy right before me in the check out line. They actually overcharged me, lied about my stay, and then told me I don't ever need to come back (people like me...meaning white people out people who don't question being over charged?). Anyway, they won't need to worry, plenty of other hotels in the country's largest city. So I am going to Hilton for the next 3 months while my house gets finished. If Hilton wants me, maybe I will start staying they're? Heck, maybe I will ask the 50 traveling consultants in my firm too consider staying at Hilton? Yeah, you never know who you are bad mouthing.

Well everything went smoothly for the first week of so of staying here. Rates fluctuated but the service from kitchen and staff remained consistent up until my last day. Where they rejected me perhaps because of my disability. I don’t know. But I most likely won’t be returning😔 Valet and Aiden was the best valet they had. So helpful and kind hearted ❤️

Our first stop in Florida. Incredible service. Tequila and Cher checked us in after a 10 hour drive and they acted as if we we’re family. We stayed for 3 day’s. The staff were outstanding and the hotel could not have been better. We met some Veterans one of which will be a brother for life. Can’t say enough about the breakfast and Franklin who showed us to our table every morning. Such a kind man. I’d go back in a heartbeat.

The service, particularly the manager Gabriel, helped make our national pageant a HUGE success! He was helpful and there around every corner to make sure that our organization and the young ladies/families that had come from all over the country, had the best experience possible in Jacksonville! The ONLY issues we incurred had nothing to do with the service. It was a little humid in the room and I ended up sweating a lot through the night. But this is currently being worked on and we are 110% hosting our national pageant here again next year. Everyone is beyond wonderful, from the ladies at the front desk, to the staff taking out the trash. You guys are kind, smiling, and helpful to the oomph degree. I can't image a better place to invite everyone to that would represent Northeast Florida any better on an affordable level than the Southbank Hotel in Jacksonville!

10/10 stayed here for one night while passing throw . Check in was smoothly . Lobby was super clean and inviting . The front desk staff was super friendly , offer us water and sugar free candy to our daughter. We asked for a crib and two mins after walking into our room the crib arrived . Room was super clean , bathroom was also very clean and stock with full size items . When out to dinner and in our return our keys weren’t working . Walking down to the lobby and they replace them without an issue . Then found out that it wasn’t our key but the key reader that was out of batteries . It took them less than 5 mins to have someone at our door. The technician was super polite , and fixed the issues super fast . I only wish that the breakfast buffet had more options like pancakes and waffles . However the staff customer service was outstanding, tables and restaurant super clean and service was fast .

This hotel honestly has to be one of my worst stays. The staff was horrible, expecally house keeping. I asked lady for towels sh told me "no towels" and didn't offer to get some set to room....plus may l add traveling with 1 year old. Pool was dirty not clean at all. How do you have a hotel with a dirty pool. No microwave in room, horrible staff at pier 1515 made me feel like a bother. I will never stay again or recommend to anyone as l will find every site to give a hotel a horrible review. The best part of the hotel were the beds and the location. I wanted a balcony room and was told no. I booked my hotel months in advance. This was a horrible place don't book, expecally if traveling with family. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Me and my parents had good time in this hotel. We only stayed one night however the front desk is very kind and helpful, the room is large and clean, also pretty close to the riverside, it is so amazing to take a night walk at the riverside. But just letting you know they do not provide free breakfast, the breakfast will need additional $14. Anyway, still 5 stars.

My wife and I were Initially there to help celebrate our wedding anniversary. There were complications due to the short notice, but these complications were not from the hotel’s doing. The hotel front desk manager, Willie, did such a nice job trying to help us overcome the emotional rollercoaster and left us aged wine and a variety of sweets along with a very nice card. It turned out to be a very nice stay, and will be going back again.

Starting off with positive location was great. Easy access to the ferry, great restaurants and bars located within walking distance. As far as the hotel itself…. The best way I can describe it is lipstick on a pig. It wants to be nice but is far from the standards its pictures and website represents. Was in town with large group 20+ and wasn’t able to switch hotels or we all would have. Our room had broken furniture/fixtures, Stains on floor, walls and sheets. Let front desk no issues but never got a response. Was told manger would get with us and did not. No hot water for shower in evening. When I called front desk asking about hot water each night was told we put in an order for boiler to be checked. Also beware each room was charged for valet parking on our final invoice even though we didn’t even have a vehicle. This happens to multiple people in our group.
