Great location. Breakfast was good. Rooms were awful, old and smelly. I was moved to a second room, where the toilet did not work. I asked for it to be fixed, took them 8 hours to do it. I would have moved hotels, but lacked the time. I do not recommend staying at this hotel. It is not indicative of a Hilton property at all. Much rather would have spent more for a cleaner room with working bathrooms.

In a prior review, someone wrote that their room smelled like an "old wet ashtray." I agree, but I will also add "with a hint of stinky dog." I doubt this smell will ever leave my clothes, so I am going to burn them when I get home. Overall, lovely staff. Fantastic location. But my room was pretty nasty. Stains on the walls. Stains all over the carpets. Super sticky floors. My toilet never worked properly. Paper thin walls. The mold in the bathroom was a nice touch. And again.....that room smell. I'm not sure Yankee Candle makes "old wet ashtray with a hint of stinky dog", but if they do, Hilton needs to get on that. Big picture: Hilton should just Miley Cyrus Wrecking Ball this place and start over...

Dirty! Unkept! Had to be moved to 3 rooms due to cleanliness. If it wasn’t so late I would have cancelled my room and went somewhere else. First room they sent me to was still dirty! Last thing you want to see after traveling all day. Looks like something changed recently and you can tell. All the newer reviews say the same thing. I wish I saw them before I booked. Staff was as nice as can be at the front desk, moving me 2 times, 3 different rooms.. Bathroom floor was disgusting. Looks like someone wiped a dirty rag on the floor. Hilton needs to drop this location.

I would give room 0 star. Room was dirty. Dirty bedsheets. Yucky stains on chair/sofa. A whole army of ants came up to my food that I just put down on the table for 5 minutes. The whole building was old and poorly maintained. Don’t let pictures fool you. Staff was nice and friendly though. Would NOT come back.

Room service by default was scheduled every other day. This is new to me. The staff said everyday service was by request, so I submitted such. But the staff failed to convey this request to the room service staff. As such my bed was not made and my trash piled up so much that it overflowed the receptacles. The bathroom had only a single towel and there was no soap in the bathroom. I was too tired to trod down the front desk so I had to bathe with shampoo. The shower had thick streak of mold at the caulk line. All of these deficiencies indicate examples of a super cheap hotel. Yet your marketing posits your inn as a moderate to upscale facility, which is what I thought I was getting when I reserved my room. As an example, the inn had no vending machines, but instead offered a canteen in which the snack items were three times the price one would pay from a vending machine. If you serve your customers with an expensive canteen, then your establishment should reflect high quality in all other areas of service. I will never stay at a Hampton Inn again. My accommodations would have been nicer at a Super 8.

It was a nice place to stay, with WONDERFUL staff. The lady that ran the front desk ,3 to 11 was so awesome. She just was so kind & friendly. She really helped us navigate the area. One complaint was that the front lobby was stuffy & hot.Maybe the air was not working, but it was miserable to be in that space. We had planned to meet family there, but just could not. Had to go elsewhere. Also,if you are staying at this hotel, don't plan on company coming to visit,as there is no parking for them. It's a gated lot & if your folks are not there to let you in,you won't be parking there.Too bad. Because of that,I probably would not stay there again.

This place needs to be shut down for extreme renovations! The rooms look cheaply updated / dirty. .99 cent floor carpet tiles poorly installed. The bed was horrible felt the springs probably 20 years old. Sheets like sand paper. Maybe bed bugs? Could not sleep because you hear every other a/c also sounded like a alarm going off all night. Paper thin walls. Bathroom mold everywhere, clean folded towel had wet red liquid on it? Location is great and staff very nice would not stay there again if you paid me to! RUN

I wish I would have read the reviews prior to booking. When it comes to Hilton hotels you except cleanliness and comfort. This hotel offered neither. It is a Super8 in Hilton disguise. This hotel is long outdated. A dump would be the best you could describe it. The first room I was given had no A/C the bathroom floors were filthy, my feet stuck to the carpet. Upon asking for a new room due to the above, the AC in that room was no better. I sweat the entire night. I had booked a 2 night stay and left after the first to find other accommodations. Do not book this hotel. Find literally anything else. Corporate should remove their Hilton status.

I think the best part of this hotel is the person who handles the breakfast. Tina really took her job seriously and was a real joy to have around while getting my breakfast before heading to the job. She was incredibly warm and helpful and just made my morning bright. Nice rooms but a bit outdated, at least the accessibility room I had was clean but starting to show some age. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Very good place to stay.

Disappointed is an understatement. We have stayed at numerous Hampton Inns, we don't even check online reviews of these hotels before booking, as we have always had good experiences staying at them. From the moment we walked in, this hotel was anything but what we normally experience at a Hampton Inn. The carpets were ripped and dirty in the hallways. The walls were scuffed and the hallways smelled of smoke and mildew. Our room was dirty, bathroom had hair and mildew throughout, and the tub looked like it was 20 years old. I would never have walked on the floor without shoes, as the carpets were matted and dirty as well. When we turned on the air conditioning a wave of mold smelling air filled the room. We could not stay as a result of those issues, especially the mold and allergies that I have (we had booked a 3 night stay). We were there for less than an hour, and asked for a refund. The front desk personnel said she was unable to issue one (it was a Friday evening), that the manager would need to do that on Monday. They are currently not willing to issue the refund.

Unfortunately, I will never try your hotel again.I was not welcomed when I arrived. I was turned away and told to come back at 3pm. The lobby computer is dead. Housekeeping knocks on your door at 9am when checkout is 12pm. I visited many other Hampton Inn's throughout the year and this is the only place that turns away a client. I was provided a room at 10am when I arrived at another Hampton Inn in Jacksonville. The customer service at the Front Desk was horrible. You can keep that service and hotel treatment for other guests. I expect the best and this was the worse.

Will definitely book here again. Yes it is an older hotel but after staying at the garden Inn Downtown this was so much better. Staff was friendly and helpful with my requests. I did not see homeless people during my stay and never felt uncomfortable. I will stay here again when I am in town. I enjoyed the local southern grill which gives a discount to guests.

This hotel has seen better days. The beds aren't comfortable and the pillows are flat so sleep quality was poor. WiFi is sketchy, only one elevator was operational and the hotel just smelled funky. At least the fitness equipment was working.

The front desk people and staff were very nice. The location in relation to downtown, food and entertainment was great. That being said, the facilities OK, the hotel itself Ok, and more so OUR ROOM, was horrible. Pool area was less than clean. The room smelled like mold and mildew and we soon found out why. The room was very dirty, dusty and damaged. There was peeling paint everywhere, rust everywhere, and mildew/mold everywhere. Debris, trash of sorts, under and behind everything but in plain sight. Visible stains and drip marks on the headboards and furniture. Chipped paint everywhere as well. The room looked like it hadn't been cleaned or occupied in years. Made you feel dirty the entire time you were there, and when you get home be sure to wash everything. The dresser had debris in it. Closet was broken and nasty, The bathroom was terrible. This room should not be available to the public, and management should be ashamed to let someone stay in it. Look at the pics and see how bad it was.

You are definitely paying for proximity to downtown. Rooms are very outdated and could definitely benefit from a deep cleaning. The gentleman that checked us in was very welcoming but the other staff could benefit from customer service training. Continentail breakfast was good. Definitely not worth the price.

The people who work here are nice, but the hotel itself is subpar. The lobby is uncomfortably hot. It's terrible trying to have breakfast there. My room had many issues such as the shower head not being properly mounted, the microwave randomly beeping, and a broken outlet behind the bed that is definitely a fire hazard. The cleaning staff also ignored the do not disturb sign on the door which was frustrating. Overall, I would skip this hotel.

  • 5/5 Carol J. 10 months ago on Google
Place was gross. Musty dirty carpet smell was stifling. Room was right near a noisy side door. Shower screamed when used. Tina was the only joy. Place needs renovation. Giving 5 stars only because Tina was such a pleasure.

The staff was great. The rooms were clean. The breakfast area was clean and the food was hot. The breakfast attendant was fantastic. She was very engaging and had a great attitude. As did all the staff. The only complaint was the remote in the room barely worked. I ended up sleeping with the tv on because I could not get it turned off. Other than that, I would recommend this hotel.

Each time I visit The Hampton Inn - Downtown my stay is always a pleasure. The facility is always clean & I have no issues at all. The staff is amazing Mechelle is such a ray of sunshine and is always so accommodating and treating not only myself but other guest like they are home when we’re away from home.

Nice hotel, friendly staff. They had run out of breakfast items (eggs) in the beginning of the week (3 days) from a busy weekend, so that was unfortunate. The front door was broken for most of the week as well. Rooms are nice and appear to be cleaned thoroughly. I'll stay here again, but I won't count on breakfast.

I checked in, there were no waters to offer for the gold members. I got to my room, and there were no sheets on the bed, no pillow cases, no comforter, no towels in the bathroom. I called the front desk and they said they'd be right up. An hour and a half later, I called and they acted like it was the first time they heard this, even though it was the same person I talked to the first time. I was on the 5th floor,, and the ice machine was broken, no notes, no signs, I just had Happen to run into a maintenance guy that said, "oh yeah, the ice machines only work on the third floor". I thought the elevator was going to fall with me in it. The continental breakfast was a big disappointment as well. I chatted with Hilton Online and after 20 minutes, they had me call the 1-800 number. I called Hilton and was moved to another Hotel. Down Right Disappointed. Almost a Diamond member too!

  • 2/5 Stefanie M. 8 months ago on Google
Front door was broken on arrival. No one was at the counter or anywhere to be seen on arrival. Bathroom floor was dirty and stained. No hand soap, shampoo or body wash (hotel gave it all out). There were no coffee cups in the morning for breakfast, so not coffee till after checkout and stopped and bought some.

I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. The rooms need to be renewed (lamps, furniture)and deeper maintenance, you can note it because if you decide to walk on the carpet without shoes your socks will be practically gray. The only reason why I give them four stars is because part of the staff has a great attitude of work and service, as Tina in the restaurant area, the manager and the week end front desk team.

Room air conditioner was VERY loud. Toilet handle was broken. I never recieved my digital key. Bathroom tile looked like someone had spilled acid. Best thing about this place is it's location.

Easy check in/ out via mobile app. The handicap accessible bathroom was a little old looking. Mildew in shower. Some stains on the furniture. Bed was comfortable.

I recently had the unfortunate experience of staying at the Hampton in Jacksonville, Florida, and I feel compelled to share my disappointment with fellow travelers. As a lifelong Diamond member and seasoned traveler of over a decade, I have never encountered a hotel in such a state of disrepair and questionable cleanliness. First and foremost, I was genuinely confused about the standards maintained at this property, especially considering its affiliation with the reputable Hilton brand. One would expect a certain level of quality and cleanliness, which sadly, was sorely lacking during my stay. Upon entering my room, it became immediately apparent that the hotel was in a state of neglect. The room itself was far from welcoming – it was dirty and had an overall unkempt appearance. This, coupled with the evident lack of maintenance, left me questioning the commitment to quality at this establishment. The most alarming aspect of my stay was the state of the bedding. As a frequent traveler, I have come to prioritize cleanliness, especially when it comes to the sheets and pillowcases. Unfortunately, the sheets in my room at the Hampton in Jacksonville appeared to be anything but clean. Stains on both the pillowcases and sheets were not only evident but also distressingly fresh. This not only raised concerns about hygiene but also left me questioning the overall cleanliness of the room. Regrettably, this experience was so disheartening that I made the unprecedented decision to check out after the first evening. As someone who values the Hilton brand and has come to associate it with high standards, this stay was a stark departure from the quality I have come to expect. I hope this feedback serves as a constructive critique for the management of the Hampton in Jacksonville. Travelers, especially loyal patrons like myself, deserve a level of quality and cleanliness commensurate with the Hilton reputation. I sincerely hope that the necessary improvements are made to restore the integrity of this property and maintain the standards expected of a Hilton-affiliated establishment.

The place is filthy. The hallway by the rear entrance reeks of urine. The elevator floors were dirty and sticky. The carpets are all very dirty. There were ants in my room. The bathroom has lots of mold and there was black ring in the toilet. I rely on Hampton Inn to be clean and comfortable accommodations. While I understand there was some construction at this location, this is more of a maintenance issue as there is no effort to keep the place clean. This location does not live up to the Hampton Inn banner.

The room was spacious and clean, as was the rest of the hotel. Breakfast was so good…sue me but I love hotel eggs for some reason and these were good…the coffee was okay too. But the best part was the staff…from the moment of check-in with Quentin and Angel and then Kiki saving our lives with our laundry or maintenance, Jay who changed our bedding when our coffee exploded and gave us a new lamp, the gentleman that opened my suitcase when I accidentally locked it . I have never met friendlier staff in any hotel and if the pool had been warm it would have been extremely perfect…as it is, I really don’t want to leave tomorrow….thanks Hampton Inn!!!

We stayed here by mishap and glad we did. (Barlow has a roach infestation) Hampton Inn was great! Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They let us check in early which was so helpful. The room was clean, pool a great temperature, check out not til noon! They didn't rush me out like literally every hotel I stay at, knocking on the door to see if we're gone, my biggest pet peve and they didn't do it! Treaty Oak is right next door.

  • 1/5 Loren S. 1 year ago on Google
This was the worst Hampton I have ever visited. In a mere two-night stay: (1) the wifi was down; (2) my room was filthy (layers of dust you could write in); (3) the fire alarm malfunctioned early in the morning; (4) the hotel was locked when I arrived and I couldn't get in; and (5) my room had no desk chair. Really, really bad experience. The breakfast was yummy and the breakfast staff were terrific, so there's that. This experience really makes me question my prior loyalty to Hampton and Hilton. UPDATE May 6, 2022: You will see the "Response from the owner" to my initial review below; they said that they "look forward to making it right." In response, I provided the additional information they requested. They sent an email apologizing and saying that they "will share the points you have outlined with all levels of leadership." That's it. UPDATE May 9, 2022: Corporate Hilton Guest Assistance stepped in and gave me a partial refund. This made me feel a little better. Corporate indicated that the "refund is coming from our corporate office and not the hotel," so take that for what it's worth.

Friendly staff and breakfast was good for this level of hotel.. The hotel has dated and worn out decor. Many stains in ceiling and AC vents. Had a hole in the wall in my room and floppy toilet that surprised did not leak. Area around hotel appeared not to safe to be out at night. However, we could see most of the new years eve fireworks from our fifth floor room.

Rooms smelled old and musty, uncomfortable bed, dust everywhere, stains in tub and toilet, holes and damage to walls. This hotel room is NOT worth $180 a night. It was such an awful stay that my kids, husband and I felt dirty even sleeping there. There’s a positive to this-the front desk staff was incredibly NICE. Thank you Jeffrey and Kesha for being so helpful and hospitable.

  • 5/5 Arlene D. 2 years ago on Google
The hotel was beautiful on the inside and out. The rooms were very comfortable and extremely clean. It was a long walk from the parking lot to the side entrance and down the hall to the elevator. My family and I loved it.

Free hot breakfast was the highlight of our stay. It made the hotel worth the money. Location is good but the beds and the pillows were awful. None of us slept good. The air didn't work properly and the room had a awful smell. If it wasn't for the breakfast, I would've only given Three stars.

  • 5/5 Mark N. 1 year ago on Google
Very clean room and comfortable bed. We had a problem with the air conditioning in our room not working efficiently, and they immediately moved us. Staff was very accommodating and friendly, especially Tina. In this world nowadays, where oftentimes you don’t even get a smile from employees who wait on you, she was a ray of sunshine while she happily performed her job assisting guests at breakfast.

  • 1/5 Kaite G. 1 year ago on Google
Skip this hotel! Run down hotel that has the Hilton name slapped on it. I will say though, the staff was all very friendly! Oh and the breakfast was pretty great as well!! The whole hotel was run down and dirty. The ceiling was filthy Going down the hallways, everything was dirty including the showers and toilets. There was stains on the furniture and all of the corners are dirty. Location was downtown but personally don’t recommend staying downtown for vacation.

  • 1/5 Deidra M. 1 year ago on Google
This hotel was by far the worse hotel experience I have ever had. The first thing that was a turn off was the awful musky, moisture smell and large fans attempting to dry the floor. Then our room had the same smell and a completely dirty bathroom. The toilet and shower looked as if they hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. The front desk person quickly assigned us another room, that one wasn’t as smelly but still dirty. The towels looked as if someone refolded dirty ones, the toilet had disgusting rings in it and the sink was dirty as well. I did not want to shower, toilet or sleep there but we didn’t have a choice. The Hampton Inn and Hilton brand should be taken away from this building especially for $160 a night.

  • 1/5 Jay L. A. 1 year ago on Google
If I could give zero stars, I would. My husband and his friends were staying for a night for a Bachelors party. My husband and the group coordinator spoke to the front desk staff and physically left a key for me to check into his room while he was out. Upon arrival, I informed the night auditor of what was done and without actually looking for any key, she informed me that I would need to call my husband, who was out at a club, in order for me to check in. Of course, he did not answer, he was in a noisy club. As a result, I had to drive two hours back home after having driven two hours just to see my husband. This is completely unacceptable and as a former hotel GM, your staff needs to be better trained on passing information between shifts and also being sympathetic to the needs of guests as the night auditor attitude was apathetic at worst and lackadaisical at best.

  • 5/5 Rosetta G. 10 months ago on Google
I called to change my room preference from a connecting room to just a single room and was charged more. When I arrived for check in the room I was assigned was dirty. I was moved to another room and it was no better. The toilet was dirty and the tun/shower needed a deep clean. The window had a sheer curtain not blocking the light from the outside at night, thus allowing the bright light to shine into the window at night while I was trying to sleep. This hotel carpet is dirty all over throughout the hotel. I hope a makeover is in the making for the amount of money being charged. I will definitely not be visiting this place in the future.

What a courteous and helpful staff. Rooms were clean enough. You could tell some remodeling going on. Definitely would stay again. Jeff and Kesha definitely stood out!

  • 2/5 Janet B. 1 year ago on Google
The people who worked here were very friendly but thats all good I can say. My husband is 6'4 and the toilets were about 4" off the ground so it was not comfortable for either of us and the beds were absolutely horrible. Probably one of the most uncomfortable beds I have ever slept in. The A/C did not work well at all, we sweated most of the night and The lobby was like a sauna. The best thing about this hotel was the staff that was it.

  • 5/5 Matthew H. 1 year ago on Google
I am giving this 5 stars because the location, friendly staff and affordability. This hotel is definitely dated however rooms are clean and well maintained and that is really all that matters. Breakfast was also delicious, as it is in every Hampton Inn! Also, parking is $10 per night which is not for the city.

  • 2/5 Andy S. 1 year ago on Google
Hotel doesn't seem like it's maintained well. Ice machines on floors 4 and 5 didn't work. There was very little available in the "market/convenience center". Drinks only. Big hairs on the walls of the shower from a previous occupant. There is much room for improvement.

  • 2/5 Eliot P. 1 year ago on Google
The lady at the desk was very nice..the room were as clean as possible being as old as it was...updating may need to be considered. Hair was on blankets and torn secondary mattress covers...breakfast was shared by me and the knats/flies..we had a 2 night stay that turned into a 1 night stay.

This place is amazing. There are complimentary headphones in the gym, as well as two Peloton bikes. The breakfast was next level with frittatas and blueberry waffles. The staff spoke to you like they have known you for years. 10/10 recommend. Everything was very clean as well.

Will NEVER stay here again. We booked a room with two queen beds MONTHS in advance as we had multiple people in our party. When we got to our room we only had 1 bed and a couch and the room smelled like an old wet ashtray. We called down to customer service and was told there was nothing they could do to help us, didn’t even offer a discount or refund of any kind. Not helpful at all!!

  • 3/5 Linda K. 1 year ago on Google
Needs a reno! Not as clean as expected from a Hampton - we were across from the laundry room and the workers were very chatty and loud, waking us before we wanted. The hairdryer handle was so sticky thst I had to clean it before use. I requested a new clean one and they didn't comply. I resent that they make Hilton Honors members pay $8 per night for parking as well but was told these are I individually owned motels and Hilton doesn't make the rules.

  • 4/5 B 1 year ago on Google
Be prepared to pay $10/day for parking, even if you don't drive!! They lie to you and say only $25 will be held for Incidentals then hit you with a $200 bill ! My company had a card on file but they still demanded my personal card if I wanted to keep my reservation!! The only reason this hotel gets a 4 star review is because Kiki in housekeeping was amazing and went above and beyond to assist me!!!

  • 5/5 Tabitha T. 1 year ago on Google
This is the friendliest staff I have ever met! From the time we checked in (at 1am) to the time we checked out, they went above & beyond to make us feel welcome. If we ever come back down this way, we’ll stay here just for the atmosphere that the employees bring to this place. Breakfast was way better than I expected… the potatoes, sausage, eggs, muffins… all of it was amazing. Even the coffee surprised me how rich and flavorful it was! 10/10 absolutely recommend
