All of the employees were nice. We stayed in room 1218 during September, 2022, and could see some of the St. John's River. They don't have the concierge lounge even though it's a Marriott hotel. The employees said the hotel hasn't been a Marriott for very long so they're still doing things to make it one. There's a self parking lot next door that I think was $28 for 24 hours or a parking garage for $14. We chose the valet that's $25 a night. The guys were very nice and accommodating. We ate the breakfast buffet at the hotel restaurant. They had some fresh fruit, bagels, muffins, grits, scrambled eggs, sausage links, chicken sausage links, bacon cooked crisp and not so crisp, oatmeal with toppings, roasted potatoes and juice. The water and coffee were brought to the tables by the servers. My husband said the eggs were really good unlike most Marriott brand hotels. I liked the crisp bacon and we both liked the grits. They also have a menu to order from.

I travel often as a Marriott Elite member and Becky S. and Michael I. went above and beyond to help “save me” during a recent meeting. At the start of a very important presentation, I had an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction and they let me borrow the sport coat of the Director of Sales throughout the duration of the meeting. They could have easily directed me to a nearby store…but clearly demonstrated exemplary service during this incident. Cannot thank them enough and I plan on hosting future meetings at this location because of their customer care.

If you’re Black, go ahead and skip this hotel, Beloved. We stayed because we were driving from New York and were exhausted. But… we should’ve just held out. The person at the front desk was being the most when it came to us paying for the room. As we were checking out we noticed a Black couple having issues with the front desk people as well. On top of that you are overcharged for valet. There are hidden fees. You have to pay for wifi. The room was not clean, and the floor was damp. The shower curtain was yucky. This was definitely not a 4-star hotel experience. At least it was very close to the I-95, so we were able to hit the road faster.

Front desk and bar staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The location was perfect - directly across the street from the Jacksonville Center for the Performing Arts, where we would go for a concert we were in town to see. It was also just a half mile from a highly recommended restaurant we had reservations for, Cowford Chophouse. Everything about this trip was exceptional. Definitely recommend this Marriott for quality service, great views, and location. I had a River View Corner King room and was very happy with it.

Stayed here for a weekend for The Who concert in town. Only cons were the fridge in our room not working at all and the ice machine didn’t work well. The elevator smelled like literal pee. Best part of the stay was the bellman Phil. Whatever you’re paying this man pay him more! He was funny and kind and so nice. He made the stay awesome!

The rooms are great but the bathroom, lobby, and elevators need renovation. It looks so old (like early 2000s). They tried to cover up years of wear and tear but there’s no masking it. Remodeling is necessary at this point. The bar is off to the side and not too inviting, but the food is good. However, floor seats in the dining area are way too low for the table. Minor revisions would lead to major appeal for this hotel.

Having been recently bought out by Marriott, the room amenities were a bit outdated. The superior service made up for it. We are members of the elite program and enjoy staying at Marriott Hotels whenever we travel.

I booked this hotel on the Marriott app. When I booked this hotel on the Marriott app, it showed $15 for self parking and $25 for valet parking. I chose valet parking. They charged me $29 for valet parking. When I asked the front desk why they charged me this amount, they stated that the valet rate changed on Jan 1 (it’s march 4th) and that is the rate I would be charged. They refused to reduce the rate to the amount I was quoted on the app. When I called Marriott customer service, they told me that they would have to open a case and that if I was found to be right, it would take 3-5 business days to refund $8. Why do they need to investigate this? Why would I lie about this? I have never had an issue like this with Hilton. Whenever something like this happens at one of their properties, they fix it. I highly recommend using Hilton over Marriott. Marriott will not honor the prices shown on their app. Edit: this has nothing to do with sales tax like the person who responded to my review has suggested. The effective sales tax rate is 7.5%. $25 with tax is $26.88. It would have been incredibly easy for them to honor the price that was listed in the app but they chose not to.

Great hotel. We chose it because it's downtown and 20 minutes away from the airport, because we had a 7 am flight the next day. The rooms and the premises are clean. There is a snack bar to the right of the front desk, that's open 24 hrs, which was great when I wanted something sweet at 11 pm and didn't want to order a dessert through Uber eats. There is also a bar that's open late. We weren't sure where else to go after the whole day of exploring and a late dinner, so we went to the hotel bar and hanged out there for over an hour. It had a lot of people there. The waitress was very nice, friendly and attentive. I wish there was an airport shuttle service and that's why I'm giving it a 4 star review. We were told at the front desk, there is no taxi service and no shuttle and to schedule Uber pick up for 5 am.

As a Marriott Gold Elite member, I was terribly disappointed with this hotel. Parking is an absolute nightmare and the parking lot assigned to the hotel is not safe. The room and bathroom was old and musty. I was charged for internet service, although my rewards number was assigned to reservation. This hotel requires a complete overhaul. I will not by staying at this location while in Jacksonville. There are other better options being offered. Marriott please do better.

Just your average aged hotel. I booked an upgraded corner room. Not worth the upgrade. View is of a parking lot. Interior has seen better days. This is my third hotel just this week so I feel like I have a pretty good grasp of what’s out there. I’d skip this spot.

What a nice hotel. The room was clean and there were plenty of staff on hand. There is a restaurant serving breakfast buffet, lunch, and dinner, plus a bar for those who wish to have a cocktail. The workout room is adequate and the pool is wonderful. I highly recommend valet parking your car. The guys were awesome and prompt. I got spoiled calling down for my vehicle and having it at the front door when I went downstairs. I will be staying here again!

The location is good but there’s quite a lot of homeless people around. There’s a restaurant inside the hotel if you don’t want to go out ! Lobby is nice and clean! The hotel is clean but could use a renovation. They only provided one towel for each person so I had to ask for more for the following day. They only provided one tiny bottle of body wash (1.25 fl oz) for me and my husband. I think they should check how many people stay in the room and for how many days. There’s no power outlet to charge your cellphone next to the bed. TV is placed on the side of the bed rather than at the end of the bed.

Remember to use ʜoᴛᴇʟʙᴏʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking a room. They compare hundreds of booking websites and typically will have prices a lot cheaper compared to others! You're welcome :)! This place is one of the highest rated in this area. I've been staying here for a very long time. If you stay for a few nights you for sure won't regret it. The valet employees are very accommodating and friendly. The property is clean and the restaurant on site has good food. The rooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable. The property has every amenity you would expect. The rooftop pool is nice and spacious. There’s a nice grand piano on the second floor for guests to play which is nice but only two chairs by it if people want to sit and enjoy the music. That being said the rooms are EXTREMELY dated. The wallpaper was peeling off the wall, the bathroom door was peeling apart and random mechanical parts were falling off the wall/ceiling. The shower is something out of the 70s. I venture to not even call it “lighting” in the room but rather simply a lamp. You basically get dressed in the dark 24/7. The staff aren’t exactly nice — nor rude. Common seating is absent. There’s about 4 chairs in the lobby which are always taken and there’s a large space by the restaurant but no common chairs outside. Overall the location is convenient and I would stay at the hotel again — just don’t show up with ‘Marriott’ expectations and you’ll enjoy it.

Stayed here two nights for a funeral. (9/20 -9/22) Night staff was not friendly at all. As we checked in, the guy at the front desk was more concerned with his co-worker having a new pair of earrings than showing us salutations, being hospitable, or showing us any interest what so ever. As if we were annoying him by interrupting his flirt session with the guy next to him 😳 We arrived at our room after our long drive to find no soap or shampoo in the shower. No one answered when we called the front desk to alert them. Next evening upon our return from the funeral. We greeted the guys at the desk as we entered the hotel, only to meet with a blank, annoyed stare. 😒 Returned to our room and still no shampoo and shower gel. 🙃 This time, the other fellow got things squared away. Our experience was disappointing considering our reasons for staying there. Our sons said they experienced the same when they checked in on Wednesday evening as well. Our hotel preference is always the Marriott brand, as we are Lifetime Platinum members. Again, we are so disappointed in the Jacksonville Downtown Marriott.

In Jacksonville for a very short visit as a first timer. As I booked my reservation I was concerned as I read the reviews of past guests, but desired the location . The many bad reviews on this Marriott location DO NOT serve this location well. The service was impeccable from the minute I met Courtney at check in, from the wait staff at Juliette’s, the Valet, to the housekeeping staff. The halls are not noisy as stated, the rooms are clean and well air conditioned although a few more outlets are needed in this tech world. Pool area and work out room are also very clean.

First, I cannot say enough amazing things about Katie T. who was working the front desk. I was on the verge of a breakdown because everything that could go wrong before I arrived did (unrelated to the hotel) and she was the light that changed the trajectory of my day! She was understanding, efficient, and eager to help. She went above and beyond to deliver top notch customer service. Katie is a shining star. About the hotel, I love the location! I stayed for my friend’s wedding that was downtown and it was so nice being able to walk to the downtown attractions or grab a lime scooter. If you are athletically inclined, there is a great running path along the waterfront that leads to an outdoor gym. Of course the hotel has a nice fitness center, but if you like to get out and get some fresh air, the path is perfect! The valet team was courteous and efficient. We never had to wait more than 5 minutes to get our cars! Finally, we had a great experience at the bar! The bartenders were great and it was the perfect meeting place for our friends and family to gather before and after the wedding related festivities. I highly recommend this hotel! And if you get to meet Katie, your day will be better for it!

Rooms have older decor, but are very comfortable. Very typical of Marriott. Good freeway access. And if you are headed to a Jaguars game, the location is perfect. You can order pickup from a fleet of golf carts that get you to the stadium in about 5 to 10 minutes. Plus the ride is lots of fun! The restaurant/bar was not well-staffed following the game, so that was really disappointing. There were limited options on Sunday in the area since it seems to be a business district. There was construction on the river trail, otherwise, it could have been a great place to walk.

We wanted to have a relaxing time for the long weekend of Memorial Day. We arrived at 10:30 pm. on Saturday. My wife and I suffer from allergies, once there we started eyes watering and itching. We called front desk to report the room dusty and they said there was nobody at that time from housekeeping, so my wife and I started dusting furniture, she used one of the towels and soaked in water, got on her knees to mop the carpets. I got a call from housekeeping management the next morning and all they did offer was one breakfast on the hotel. We should’ve had a discount for the inconvenience. I took pictures of the ice tray and bucket, behind the tv looks it has never been clean. We paid a lot of money for the stay and spent $60 extra parking. I do not recommend this hotel.

Don't forget to use when booking a stay. They compare hundreds of hotel sites and typically will have rooms much cheaper compared to others! Thank me later on! This hotel is one of the best in this area. I have been coming here for a very long time. If you decide to stay here you definitely won't be disappointed. I stay at this location for business (once each month) and so far I’ve been given a room that’s been very quiet (thankfully!) and peaceful. I cannot say how much that means to me. I don’t sleep well when away and even the slightest “different” noises will wake me. This last time my room didn’t seem to get very cool and was way too warm for me, but it was quiet so I picked my battle and left well enough alone. The front desk staff has been very pleasant and professional. I’ve not been to the restaurant so I can’t speak on that.

We were in room 907. The mattresses were much less than comfortable, saggy, and lumpy. The staff was excellent and the valet team was great. Room, ehhh not so much. The toilet tank could be heard refilling almost every minute. Not much to do in the area after 5pm all the restaurants shut down.

Really run down rooms. This used to be a nice place. I used to say that every year on my way to florida I could not believe the room. I stood and I didn't sleep all night. Because of a foul smell and dirty smelly linens. Terrible

The hotel was really nice, but the food was not. I paid a pretty penny to a fish dinner and southwest egg rolls. However, because they were running a half menu due to the holiday, there wasn't much to choose from outside of fast food, and it was awful. I winded up ordering Uber because it was too late in the evening to get reservations somewhere else in the city. I've stayed at a lot of hotels with Marriot, and this one missed several marks. We had issues with the TV that was resolved thanks to maintenance and elevator, side doors, and room mobile key. The bed was the best part about the stay and our room was very clean, so that accounted for something. Regardless, we will not be returning to this location in the future.. sorry, guys.

Joshua, the valet guy was AMAZING!!! I personally don’t stay in the hotel, but I was the coordinator for a bride staying at the hotel and I needed to just stop by to drop some stuff off. Joshua knew I wasn’t going to be more than a few minutes and helped me out! I appreciate someone with good manners and being a “yes” person in this industry! Thanks Joshua! You might have made me book a room there soon!

So I booked a room for the night as we were going to a concert across the street. Hit pet friendly and yes they do accept pets at $150.00 each per night which there website does not state! I brought my 2 small service dogs and Daniel the front manager informed me of the cost. I certainly would have made reservations down the street for a pet fee of $35.00. I complained and yes he reduce it to $150.00 instead of $300 but come on this is just a bad policy and way to rip customers off. I have been a long time Marriott rewards customer and now will rethink my loyalty. Actually it was too late for me to rebook anywhere else. I just want to warn other customers of this hidden fee. Actually the hotel was not the same quality and standard as it was when it was an Omni a couple years ago. I never take to social media but felt violated and taken advantage of.

The bar/restaurant closed unexpectedly a couple times. Would've been fine but there is no where walkable to go eat or shop. Bar service was often slow, but drinks were good. Rooms were nice, valet was really kind. Just wish there had been food regularly available in the hotel or nearby because we were hungry pretty often, especially being here for a dance event. Valet was disorganized and understaffed. No one answering phones and our car forgotten several times. Gave them my valet card, the two folks in front of us got their cars, then about 20 minutes later I reminded about my car and was told "well there's a line." So... Guess it doesn't matter that they retrieve cars in random order... You'll be stuck waiting for your car and literally be the last car brought forward even though you were 3rd in line. He then came up and asks "do you have your card?" And i again reminded him i gave it to him now 25 minutes ago.

Title: Disappointing Experience at Marriott Hotel in Jacksonville, FL Rating: ⭐️⭐️ I recently stayed at the Marriott full-service hotel in Jacksonville, FL, and unfortunately, my experience fell short of the Marriott standard I'm accustomed to as a Titanium Elite member of the Marriott Bon VOY Program. Upon arriving late at night, I encountered construction blocking one of the entrances, and when I called the front desk for directions, the staff member's response was shockingly rude. Instead of assisting, he interrupted me with, "Are you done yet? Are you finished talking?" It's unacceptable to treat a guest this way. Even more concerning was the lack of responsiveness from the general manager. Despite leaving a voicemail highlighting my concerns, I received no acknowledgment or follow-up communication. This lack of engagement is disappointing, especially given my loyalty as a Titanium Elite member and my previous experience as a Marriott GM. The breakfast, while promising in terms of choices, was marred by poor service and substandard food quality. It's disheartening to see a Marriott property fall short in these aspects. The apparent issue with employee behavior, where one staff member avoided addressing guest concerns by going to the back, raises serious concerns about the hotel's commitment to customer service. In summary, I cannot recommend this Marriott hotel, especially for business clients. The service issues, combined with the lack of responsiveness from management, create an overall disappointing experience. I hope the hotel addresses these concerns promptly, as poor service can have long-term consequences for both the hotel and the Marriott brand.

Constant, unpleasant smells everywhere. Lobby, elevator, hallways. Not great. Fitness center was really low end. Bar was nice. Valet was understaffed and long waits.

  • 2/5 James C. 7 months ago on Google
Room433 is not a good room to have because it is a SkyView look out by the pool, which is great until you realize you can't open the sliding glass door to enjoy the pool and the view. And the tub was making some crazy sound and the in the tub the water wasn't going down right and had a bad smell too. My husband travels all over the country and is a long time valued member. We usedhis points to get this room for our One year Anniversary of being married..we will not be staying at any more Marriott Hotels if this is the expectation. With this economy being what it is, these points become even more valuable, and are supposed to be an award for our patronage, not wasted on outdated facilities with rude employees.

Everything was enjoyable, and the staff were nice. We came at a time they had to fix their plumbing problems, but they did it from 2300 to 0200. The only inconvenience was that the bar closed early at 2200. There were others within walking distance abs it only took about 5 minutes to get there.

This is good information to know before staying at this hotel. The location is great but the rooms are very old. There was mold above the window, the furniture was dusty, the shower liner was dirty and the water moved slowly down the sink drain. The staff was super nice especially Teka (no sure of that’s spelled correctly). She was helpful and kind! It truly made up for the terrible room.

I recently stayed at Marriott Jacksonville downtown to attend an Elton John concert. A list of the pros and cons, you can make your own decision. Pros: The staff everyone was so friendly, helpful and polite. Rooms were clean with nice views. Beds/pillows were perfectly comfortable. Cons: The doors, they shut so hard you can hear them closing from the other side of the building ALL NIGHT Long, the opening at the bottom of the door is so wide you can stick your hands under the door thus lighting up the room all night. The room fridge was not working. Ice maker, not working and when I informed the night personnel I was told to go to another floor. The AC: I had set the ac as low as possible so that I could sleep comfortably under the thick duvet but this was not possible because the AC would stay on for a few minutes and then shut down just long enough to get hot under the covers. Also when the AC turned off you no longer had any white noise to try and drown out the doors slamming. Last but not least my fighting neighbors. Not that the hotel is too blame for this one. Needless to say I did not sleep well at all. I could have put up with most of this but those doors are so bad I don't think I'll ever stay there again. -Kimber

Not a great stay. I was pretty disappointed for a Marriott. Parking situation was difficult as they do not owe the parking space, you have to pay for the garage or $25 in valet and it’s difficult to find. The front lady was not the friendliest. Breakfast is not included, and the hotel rooms look outdated. You can easily hear people in the other rooms and in the hallways. It seemed clean thought, which is why I didn’t give one star. Wouldn’t stay in this particular Marriott again.

We were in the Florida Room. Service was great but food was down right bad. Half our table had gravy on our chicken (which was very dry) & half didn't. Green beans nasty. Potato's good, but dessert was awful. Looked like flan with horribly tart raspberry puree & a white chocolate sauce.

Parking is a pain. You have to pay separate for that. I called to see if we could swim while waiting for a room, I was told yes. When I got there, I was told no. I literally reserved the hotel FOR THE POOL. It was my son's birthday and all he wanted was to swim. I tried to set something up like putting balloons in the room before to surprise him, they wouldn't do it. I tried to set up a surprise cake, they wouldn't do it. With the amount I payed and the actual customer service I received, to say disappointed is an understatement. I can tell what their priorities are, $$$.

The girl at the front desk was very awkward she told me the floors the vending machines were on went to each floor. They did not exist. She had no sense of urgency. Luckily a gentlemen stepped in and was able to properly assist me. Next time management has a meeting or a conference please don't leave here alone.

Made traveling with my three kids and their grandparents a breeze. Everyone was very nice and accommodating. I had a flight cancelation amongst other travel issues but they were very flexible and made everything painless. The hotel is really clean, smells amazing and I love that the fitness center is open 24 hours. Will definitely return to this hotel on future trips.

I work for the security company that manages Jazz Fest here. Our command center is in the hotel and the staff has been so amazing and helpful. They definitely worked with us to ensure we are good. The space is really nice and they have rooms that are all different sizes for any meeting or celebration you need. Location is perfect right off the water and close to other venues if you want to see a show.

Thomas was very helpful at the restaurant. My son is a crazy picky eater after and asked for something far from what’s on the menu and Thomas went out of his way to get it for him. He says it’s amazing and I’m happy with it! Not too many people are willing to do that anymore. They will say, “sorry, we don’t have that” and move on. Thank you Thomas for caring.

No problems except for the sink and bath did not drain. On morning of my second day, I notified front desk that room 1018 had the issue and I did not require moving rooms. I simply asked that someone fix the issue. It was not fixed and I showered in 2 inches of water the rest of my stay.

The hotel service at the front desk is wonderful. Unfortunately the rooms are extremely dated and in need of much work. The carpet is uneven and lumpy and the rooms do not smell fresh. I've stayed at lower starred hotels and their rooms were 5star overall. Hopefully Marriott will update soon as the prices do not compare to what you actually get in return.

I never leave reviews but man was I dissatisfied. Parking is not free and you have to pay every time you leave the parking garage. Racked up a $40 bill in three days. There was construction happening on the floor above me which was incredibly loud. Pool was not heated by any means. Room was in okay condition but nothing special. Overall and crummy experience.

Definitely some overly harsh reviews on here. The hotel is older but it’s not like a Howard Johnson’s people. This is a nice place. Great location, super nice staff. I will agree that I hope Marriott will spend some money here at some point and some of it could be easy. The common area could be easily improved… there’s plenty of room. Definitely need a member lounge…shouldn’t be a difficult addition. The rooms are plenty nice and we had a great view of the river. Don’t panic reading some of the negative comments.

Overall a good location with riverfront and city views, downside was the costly parking situation. Breakfast was mediocre but acceptable. Front desk was cordial but not as enthusiastic as most Marriott's. Rooms could use updates and odor control due to a slight musky smell.

The staff was extremely pleasant. Smiles greeted us at every entry. Dave the bartender at the J-Bar was a delight. The Valet attendants were professional and took great pride in taking care of my vehicle. The room awhile satisfactory, could use a bit of an update. Especially the bathroom. The shower head was inflexible and some fixtures appeared to be coming away from the wall. The WiFi was not operational for my full visit. As a Platinum member, this is an amenity that I value.

A solid hotel, but in need of a renovation for sure. Feels very 1991. They had some display stuff in the lobby of what the renovation will look like so clearly it is on the horizon so I might hold off until they do it. Odd layout and not the best flow of the entrance and lobby - when they designed stuff in the 1980s I guess it was normal to have to walk by a giant rolling metal garage door and dumpster area. Staff was fab, food at breakfast was great, comfy and fresh/clean room, but was dreary with lighting, windows and view.

Very old hotel, the walls were very thin, and the room we stayed is connected to two other rooms, so there are doors on both sides of the room connecting to other rooms where we can hear everything… body wash bottle was empty, there were hair in the bath tub with water leaking. It feels more like a 2 star hotel, definitely not a 4 star hotel. I would not recommend.
