We stayed here for one night before our cruise. Let me start by saying that the room smelled horrible when we first walked in, the carpet was dirty, and the room had a cigarette butt on the floor. When we moved the covers back to check the sheets we saw a roach wrapped up in the blankets on one of the beds.(Seriously disgusting) The roach was half dead. Then another roach met me at the bathroom door. Needless to say I will NEVER return to this hotel. The only decent part about the hotel is that the person at the desk was pleasant. They changed our room after we found the roach in the bed. The second room was much nicer and cleaner and did not have a smell. We were given room 101 first. Then when they changed our room, they gave us room 207. Update: So I called the number from the person that responded to my review and a young lady answered the phone. I informed her that I was calling in reference to a response from my review of this hotel. I gave her the name of the person who made the reservation which was my husband (last name Batten) and the last names of our traveling companions. With everyone included in our traveling group, there were five or six rooms booked at this hotel. One of our friends had to go and ask for clean bedding because the sheets on their bed was dirty when they checked their beds. So GM Jay Mehta why haven’t you contacted my husband to express your apologies for the disgusting situation we had to deal with?

The hotel was very nice, along with the rooms. Everything was extremely clean. It's a great place if you're going on a cruise, as it's just a few miles from the Port and parking. If you plan on eating, you will need to get something before arriving because the only restaurant around is Wendy's, which is next door, but they have terrible reviews, and we returned our food. It's easy access to I-95. The only downside was at around 1:15 a.m. the person working the desk walked into our room, stating, "that she was sorry, but she didn't show anyone as checked in." The door was locked, so she had to override the lock. I'm still waiting on a call from the manager because being walked in on is unacceptable. The hotel itself and the rest of the staff were all very nice. I would definitely recommend and stay again.

I've learned to try to stick to holiday inns when traveling. It's a good standard economy stay with above average cleanliness and service, and always a breakfast. This particular location seemed to mostly hit that standard. It was safe, clean, and what we needed. I'm not sure what happened, but we were given a queen suite, which really are full beds. We clearly had a king suite booked, and the lady at the service desk really didn't feel like doing anything for us after showing up at 2am with our kids and baby. Sleeping on a full with three people is a bit tight... Also, the floors were sticky in the room, the shower was difficult to use, and furniture seemed quite outdated. I love holiday inns, but I definitely won't be back to this particular place.

Clean rooms and comfortable beds. The pricing wasn’t that bad either. I would stay again. No weird smells in rooms or hallway. The atmosphere of the hotel smells clean and you can thank the staff for it. It smells very refreshing when you first walk in. Hot breakfast in am with plenty to choose from. Just for the cleanliness alone, I would stay again if I’m in the area.

For the most part the rooms are clean. Very nice breakfast in the morning. Front desk staff not so professional or, friendly. Another guest had a small black dog that they claimed was a service animal but, by owning a legit service animal myself, my family and, I knew it wasn't a service animal. This so called service animal is hardly ever on a leash as anyone with a true service animal knows a service animal isn't supposed to be on a leash longer than 4 foot. I walk out of the back door of the hotel and this mut comes running at me and, barking from 60 to 70 feet away, acting like it was going to bite me. The front desk staff got really rude and, nasty about it with me about this. Other staff members has also thought it was their place to start a IHG member account themselves instead of asking us if we had one. Same staff member has rented our room out to other guest as they have came to our room while we were in the room. Also, a lot of traffic flying through the parking lot of this hotel. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone but, I would recommend to the Holiday Inn home office not to allow this hotel be apart of their chain.

Pretty nice typical of H. I. E. The best part of my stay was because of one staff member in particular. Adele is a great asset to there team. Very professional, helpful, and also knowledgeable of the area. She has a positive vibe, is patient and has an understanding of how to treat people the way you'd want to be treated. Thanks again Adele ! I hope upper management recognizes your hard work and dedication.

Overall good hotel. Still feels kind of new. Great location to cruise ship port and easy access to highway to get anywhere in a reasonable time. The staff didn’t have uniforms. I don’t recall seeing a name tag. So a couple of times I didn’t know who was working the front desk because they were standing in the lobby looking like a customer. I rooms were clean but the air wasn’t on when we entered to felt stuffy. The breakfast was ok but 30 minutes before it was supposed to end everything was out/low and didn’t see anyone trying to restock. So went to next door to Wendy’s. At breakfast they had the usual: biscuits & gravy, eggs, cinnamon rolls, cereal, oatmeal, muffins, yogurt. They had a business center area for those who need to print cruise boarding pass and attach it. I would stay here again.

This location is perfect for those who are cruise ship bound. Our room clean very accommodating although our 1st floor room window curtains would not close. The front desk clerk was very short when responding to questions which gave us the impression we were bothering her.

Sherman (hope I spelled that right) at the front desk was amazing!!! I had just got in town from a 10 hour drive from Virginia he was the able to make me laugh even though I was so tired and he was VERY PROFESSIONAL! To be honest the best hotel front desk service I have ever had out of all my experiences! HE NEEDS A RAISE! Thank you so much! Breakfast lady was great too she made my kids some pancakes with with syrup and my kids loved them. Ate them in 2 minutes hahaha, pool is great too.

Stayed here on a business trip. Very nice hotel, room are quiet could not hear my neighbours at all. Bed was a medium firm, and bathroom was well stocked. Mini fridge and microwave hidden. With a desk and chaise lounge for comfort.

Hotel is kept clean and they had just shampooed all of the carpets so everything smells great. My three issues all have to do with the tub/shower. Started the shower and stepped in and about scolded myself. Hot water temperature is enough to do damage. And that led me to find out that the bottom of the tub is curved with no flat spot. So I slipped and fell. And that is because of the third thing. The grab bar is completely useless in the location it is attached. I will stay there again when needed but definitely use caution in the shower.

Stayed here originally just because of its location near the cruise port, but I would stay here again even if not on a cruise. The amenities of the hotel were nice... the hot tub, the pool, the fitness room, the complimentary breakfast. I felt this was the best value for a place. I know if I came back, I'd be a good distance from what I want to do, but it was still a great place. Service was great as well. Will be back for sure.

Stayed here the night before my cruise and everything was perfect. Rooms and common areas were clean, staff was very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was perfect. Bonus, it was only 5 minutes from the port.

During my stay, I called the front desk twice. The young lady who answered seemed to be unconcerned with both of my issues. I called at first to ask if there was a wine bottle opener at the front desk. She responded with a giggle, then said, "I don't know." I called again later when the tv was turned on and there was no picture. After telling her my issue, she responded, "I don't know how to fix it either." Also, the remote to the tv that didn't work was visibly dirty. There was sticky residue in between the buttons. We only stayed one night, so I didn't make a big deal about the tv, but I didn't like the way the front desk handled my phone calls. It's okay if they don't have something I'm asking for, but it would be nice if they checked and actually showed concern for their guests comfort. The woman who worked in the breakfast area was very nice. I really liked her. I watched her with other guests and she was very helpful. She walked over to me to ask if everything was okay. She made sure everything was tidy and the food was plentiful.

First room they gave me had a poorly designed shower which splashed water all outside the shower and onto the bathroom floor, making it slippery and soaking the bath mat. The bathroom floor had cracked and sharp tiles, and the room wasn't very clean. I asked to change rooms and they gave me another horrible one but at least the bathroom floor stayed dry. The guest laundry doesn't work, and overall the place seems in really bad shape. It could definitely use some repair and remodel work along with some decent staff. I expect better from holiday inn express, and expected better for $89.00 a night. This is more like a $49.00 a night run down red roof inn experience and even saying that would be an insult to red roof inn. Will not be back.

I stay here for work due to the long hours required and get in around 9-11pm, and I am gone by 5-5:30am. My room is quiet and comfortable, and the lady working the breakfast area made sure I had hot coffee and a banana to go. I couldn't speak for any of the amenities. I do stay here every year and have not been disappointed in the last 10 years.

Easy check in, room was nice, small kitchenette area with microwave, fridge/freezer/coffee/sink, less than a mile from Jax Port & a gas station, Wendy's is next door/walkable. Breakfast was good and the breakfast lady was very helpful to my husband with getting his coffee mug filled. You are near a freeway/train track so you might experience a little noise but was not terrible. Our only complaint was our room phone dialed busy when you plugged it in for some reason.

Stayed for a Carnival Cruise. Location and service was outstanding. Got to give a shout out to the morning cook. Mrs Eileen. 11-13-23. I'm on a special diet and she went over and beyond to make sure I could eat. Corporate needs to know what an exceptional employee you have. Thank you for the pleasant experience. Barry A.

Just OK. The guy that checked us in was pleasant. But the hot tub was not hot or warm. The room was decent. But, The old woman that was guarding the buffet in the morning obviously hated children l. She barked and snapped at us. So we rushed through and got out of there. Was not a great experience.

I stated this hotel this past December. I was there to see someone at a college and was trying to spend some time with them. I had had no problems until I met rude staff at the front desk who did not seem cheerful or excited to help me at all. Additionally, on my last day that I was supposed to be there I came back from a day of being out and about to find that my gold chain bracelet was gone. Each day that I was there I left it in the same place. On the nightstand next to my bed. I believe that the cleaning lady stole my bracelet. It has been two months and I still have not been contacted by the hotel staff after half calling four times and emailing the general manager. I am very upset about this entire process. I hope that someone gets in contact with me very soon.

Great Hotel! Except for the Lady that works in the morning in the breakfast area(don't be surprised if she if rude or in a bad mood), all the other employees were extremely nice! The ladies that clean the rooms were also kind and patient. The hotel was clean. ROOM: Large with fridge, microwave and a Keurig BREAKFASTS: Hot breakfast from 6 till 9 pm DOWSIDE : This was one of the few-rare hotels in which there wasn't coffee all day

Upon looking at many reviews for a hotel in the Jacksonville area, I chose this one. I am so glad I did. It's always a gamble, even when you are able to read reviews, and even though this hotel had mostly excellent reviews. I was greeted when I walked in the door by Drucilla. She had a smile on her face the whole time and was extremely pleasant.  She also was very kind as I have some temporary mobility issues.  She went out of her way and above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of with the right kind of room. The rooms are super clean and modern.  The bathrooms are stocked with Dove soap products, which was also very impressive to me. You can't go wrong with this hotel!  They have a pool and hot tub, breakfast, and a wendy's restaurant next door! Bravo to Drucilla!!!  Kudos to this Holiday Inn Express!  I will be back...

I am very particular about places we stay at. It was clean and well enough for us to stay the 1 night we needed for rest. Some of the furniture was damaged and outdated but worked just fine. The curtains needed to be changed. The bed was clean and so was the bathroom. The neighborhood it was in was very quiet. Not a lot of parking spaces though, there is a police officer that is there as part of his daily route.

We love staying here anytime we are in the area! Beds are comfortable, most of the staff is friendly. Most memorable is Pearl! She takes care of the breakfast buffet.. you do not see this type of service often! She was so sweet and took care of us over and beyond any expectations! She was a blessing!

The service was great even in the wee hours of the morning. The room and bathroom were spotless, and the bed and sheets were soft and cozy. The breakfast was decent, although I wished that they had a dairy-free option, but it was free so I couldn't complain. The hotel has a small pool and a jacuzzi so enjoy.

The front staff is respectful and i had no problem with the breakfast staff. But theres an older lady that is a maid and she is rude. pretty much yelling. talking in a louder tone i should say. it ruined the whole stay. there was a couple times we had to ask for towels and to fix our bed. but overall. it’s an okay place. great for a cruise!

My family and I checking on a Sunday afternoon. The staff was friendly of course I know they were really busy because they Cruise was on a layover that night. The staff was really really good for the exception of one lady at The breakfast bar. I realizing we wasn't there for the cruise that we were there to do a job she kind of was nicer the next couple of days we were there. But other than that it was really good really clean really well taken care of and maintained. Would I stay there again probably yes.a

The hotel is nice and the rooms are very clean. The problem I had was that I was told by the front desk during check-in that breakfast was served until 9:30 but when I went down at 9:05, everything had been taken off already. Saving money on not having to purchase breakfast is something I take into consideration when booking a hotel. Now I have another expense against my budget that should not be there.

The location of this hotel is great if you want to visit the zoo. The staff is generally nice, but it all gets ruined by the incredibly mean lady who takes care of the breakfast. She hates kids and would not let them come close to the food. She would not replenish the shelves an hour before the breakfast ends. She closes everything about 15 minutes BEFORE the breakfast should end. We stayed there twice, but recently we stayed at a different place just to avoid this experience in the morning. We are definitely not coming back.

We had a good stay at this hotel. There were a couple of things that knocked a star off. First, if on a lower floor you can definitely hear the footsteps of the person above you, so I would suggest getting the top floor if you can. This isn't the fault of the hotel overall - just something to keep in mind as with any other communal building. The person above us was stomping around at 4am for some reason. Second, the breakfast was limited, for me. Hot items were a pre-made omelet, sausage, and biscuits with gravy. The only thing I could eat was sausage. Some other options would have been great. Other than this, the staff was friendly and it was a good option for our 2 night stay.

  • 4/5 Rachel B. 1 year ago on Google
Overall, we had a great stay. The only downside is the location. The only food option close is the Wendy's right next to it and the gas station across the main road. It is a little dangerous to cross the road to get to the gas station if you are walking. Everything and everyone at the hotel was great. It was clean and comfortable. We would stay here again.
