I LOVE THIS PLACE! My family and I visit this place several times throughout the year. We drive two and a half hours to come here, and it's worth it. I go here to meditate and get closer to nature and feel stress free. The water is very cold, but refreshing. If you hike the trail, it's about a mile walk to the Little Red River and an RV campground. It's beautiful.

Awesome family friendly trail that is in the same area as JFK Campground. Entire walk was around 1 mile roundtrip. Trail is very open and very easy to walk. Less than a 1/4 mile to the actual cascade waterfall from the parking area. The trail continues to a very nice playground and picnic area. There is not a big parking area so you may have to park on the road. Overall great for families and small children.

Loved this trail a short walk down a slight hill, but the beauty of the creek is well worth it

Had a great time on this trail and the campground. I believe it’s about a mile round trip hike. There is also one additional cascade just below the ones pictured.

Just a beautiful little walk. You can continue on the trail if a longer hike is to your liking. For us, the small walk to a pretty place was perfect. The water was freezing. We all enjoyed dipping our toes into the cold water. My daughter loved skipping stones and playing in the flowing water. We took some beautiful family photos. I just enjoyed relaxing on a rock on the bank. The sound of the falling water is relaxing. Overall a nice place to stop and enjoy the scenery.

Great trail next to the creek! All forested and shady with boulders galore in the woods. There are so many places for pictures here! Kids had a blast seeing everything, playing in the creek, and running the trail. It does get steep and bumpy (rocks and tree roots) in several places. There are two areas with stairs (very uneven heights) to help keep the trail from washing out. There is a playground about a mile down on the opposite side of the creek. After that is a cute little bridge, but it starts to get smaller at that point. We did not go past that point to see if it got nicer again. Enjoy hiking in this beautiful area! If you get too hot feel free to cool off in the creek since it is freezing!

Our family went to Collins creek trailhead mid July 2022. There hadn't been any rain for awhile. Everything was extremely dry, very hot, and there was no water flowing over the dam. It was impressive, but a little disappointing. Just a little further down the road was a small area of falls. Walking down to them, you could hear the rushing water so you anticipate the amazing view and the rush of water. When you get to the water, it is really relaxing and interesting, until you turn to the left and see a diversion pipe sticking out 4 feet from the side of a rock. It reminds you of the fake water features at Disney Word. The kids did have fun, it was hot and the water was nice and crip. We would still recommend the place.

Very pretty place, its not really a hike as much as place to take the kids for a walk. The natural water way was destroyed when the dam was built so they installed a bypass. Unfortunately the pipe is often visible up top of the waterfall but if you position your photos correctly you won’t see it.

πŸ‘ We had a good experience at Sandy Beach. Our child loved it. All the sand! There were bits of trash around. We were disappointed because the bathrooms were out of order, so we had no place to change. When we go again, we will just wear our swimsuits.
