If your kids love dinosaurs definitely bring them here. It’s amazing for toddlers they get to play and discover. The dinosaurs move and make sounds. The staff are incredible. I came a year ago and now they have completely renovated the museum. Their are way more exciting features that they didn’t have before. I recommend this place especially if you have young children.

I’m not much into Museums but I can tell this one is a bit pricey. You even have to pay more for the shows. Free parking tho. There no much to see for little ones. Dinosaurs exhibit not bad but my 3 years old kid got scared there, I think it’s for 4+. We enjoyed colouring the dinosaurs with our names and then see them in the screen. The owl didn’t look happy in that small cage. Place won’t take long time to cover and it’s good to see for one time only.

My daughter came here for a play date with her friend from school. We saw the Lazer show. It cost an additional amount to go to the Lazer show and was not that exciting. Would skip it if I ever go back. Exhibits were kinda boring in comparison to other science museums we have been to. Overall, I was a bit disappointed in MOSH. Yet, when I remind myself this is Jacksonville, Florida, and not NYC Amsterdam or Paris so I just knocked one star off.

It was a good way to spend an afternoon. You can get through it in less than a day, depending on which shows you want to see. Note, the shows are extra. We did a planetarium show which was $5.95 extra per person. Also there is a Dinosaur exhibit going on right now as well which was pretty cool

Nice museum. Lots To See. About 2 hrs if just looking around. If you have little ones lots to be interactive and a floor to be creative you probably be there longer seeing everything. Went with family including 17 yr old and he said it was cool so that's a win.😃 He loved all the exhibitions. Great time with family. $15 per adult. Children was free that day. Check listing for prices. Clean and Great fun.

We took a class of third graders to the Native American festival and it was super! The children loved the regular exhibits, especially the animation area. They were also impressed by the dancing, stories, doll and bead making. Wonderful first time effort!

Been here a number of times over the years and even held a birthday party a few years ago as well. It's always a good time, for all ages. But I feel the older the kids, the better. There's a lot of reading and just a few hands on interactions. Our older kids (teens and young adults) had no problem taking it slow, reading through each zone (or at least the ones they were interested in), but our 3 younger ones (3g, 6b, 7b) were slightly bored with most of it. They enjoyed the dragon exhibit and the Creation Station the most, which had some very used toys, but the kids didn't seem to mind. Found most of the Hand sanitizer units in working order. Dad loved the Florida history and mom enjoyed the turtles in the outdoor courtyard.

What an amazing place. The dinosaurs all move and they have awesome history of Jacksonville. They have arts and crafts area and a section for all ages whether your 4 or 94. We had such an amazing time. They do have a military discount which helps for families. If you want a interactive place to spend time with the family and be amazed and learn this is definitely the place to go.

We haven't been to MOSH in a long time but my daughter wanted to see the animation exhibit. It was a lot of fun for both of us. They've redone the history walk through (again, I haven't been in years) and that was very educational. I learned a lot of interesting things about the area I never knew. Also the music history is really in depth. They have a nature walk through with native plants and of course the planetarium is always awesome. Overall a good time that's not too pricey and educational.

Took our son for his 5th birthday and we had a blast! Lots of engaging content and everywhere you look there's a learning opportunity. Will be back very soon. P.s. The planetarium was spectacular 👌🏼

The dinosaur visit was neat. A lot of the exhibits buttons didn’t work for the kids ages 4-9. The worst part was the black mold and moisture above the entry to the live animal section. When going to complain about the issue was told the building is old! By the time we were done noses itching and sneezing! Hope they clean it up or not returning! Picture you can visibly see the mold! Yuck!

While the husband was in Jacksonville for work training...the kids and I decided to make a visit to MOSH. We had a really good time! My 2 older boys even had a blast (16 & 17) It was easy to find (we know nothing of the area (from Alabama). I was immediately greeted when we entered. We wished the hands on activities were included in the admission price (touch tank), the boys really wanted to touch the pencil urchin and crabs...maybe next time! We enjoyed the outdoor area with the pond and turtles. Boys were excited to see how big the snapping turtle was 😳🤯 Afterwards we went outside to Friendship Fountain and walked the River Walk...the day was spent well!

I had a nice experience visiting the MOSH museum. It was entertaining to an extent the only down part would be the third floor didn’t have anything compared to the other floors. Would come again and to see the planetarium show.

Love bringing the family. Every time we come it's different. This time they had an animation exhibit. Last time was the dinosaur exhibit. We also did the planetarium which was very cool. The speaker was very knowledgeable and made it fun. Definitely memorable every time we come.

Great for kids 5 and younger. Planetarium could use an update, most of the chairs were old. 2 hours to go through the exhibits for $89 for a family of 4.

Educational and interactive exhibits that my whole family enjoyed. Not everything is open rn but we'll be going back again. There's 3 levels of different things and an outside area.

It's always fun for kids, and adults too! The planetarium is great, and all the little hands on activities and shows. You can come a thousand times and the kids will still love it.

Had a super great time there, there was a lot to do! There was some animals, and tons of historical exhibits, and it was very informative and educational. I'm not sure what the price is, as we were covered by a pass, but there is another area that costs extra to go in where there's a lot of different stuff. Didn't go in, but looked interesting!

I'm very disappointed in the live animal area. Especially the fish. Their tank size is not adequate for their size. Don't have live animals if you can't take care of them properly.. the museum is kinda run down. If you wanna see a fun dinosaur exhibit go to the jacksonville zoo!

We had our daughter's 11th birthday party at the MOSH. They decorated, gave us a tour and we elected to add the laser show and science show. It was so much fun and the staff was very helpful and friendly.

Always an awesome experience, saw Saturday Morning Cartoons on display, made me feel SO OLD lol! Look kids this is how I spent my Saturdays! Hahaha, no son they weren't called ads they were commercials! You could not skip through them but use that time to run to bathroom and grab a bowl of cereal! Ah good times at the MOSH. Thanks for that display.

Good for a kid's experience. Not much there to really draw and keep their attention long though. I also purchased tickets to a show which started 30 minutes late and asked for a refund. Instead of being able to refund the tickets, I was given a card and told to call someone.🤔🤔🤔

MOSH, not just for children! I had my 60th birthday party at MOSH and it was fun for everyone, all adults! We enjoyed strolling the museum, plenty of room for social distancing. The planetarium show was awesome! The staff at MOSH were outstanding! Chef’s Garden catered the event, as a preferred vendor for MOSH, and the food was wonderful. I wanted to use the rooftop venue but weather didn’t permit, but I think it turned out better. Only negative was it was a little warm in the building. I highly recommend MOSH!

We were not impressed with the museum. It is not designed for small children being that majority of everything involves lengthy reading. There are very few interactive exhibits. Overall it was dirty, the bathrooms were gross. And the shows cost extra. After paying over $70 for our family to get in, the shows cost more on top of that. And we got through it all in less than 2 hours. The dinosaurs were probably the neatest part.

This is a very small museum to begin with but with covid 19 they have closed all of the interactive exhibits so there is very little to do here right now. The staff were also kind of rude and uninviting which made the experience just that much less exciting. The whole thing took an hour to go through and that was really a stretch. It might be better under different conditions, but right now I don't necessarily recommend visiting.

We went on a weekday here and the kids loved it. We were a group of 6 parents and 10 kids. Everyone was very pleased with the service. Some bought membership passes. The kids learned as well as had a great time pretending in the Nautilus. The live animal exhibit was great. The staff we interacted with were all helpful and interested. A gentleman even stopped to explain a map my son and I were looking at. We were trying to identify all the information we were seeing and he hopped over and explained the suns 🌞 trajectory and why it looped on the map as it did. The ecliptic. We all learned something on our trip.

We had an enjoyable time at the MOSH. It took us 1.5 - 2hrs to see everything. We enjoyed several of the exhibits and the planetarium is a neat experience. 1 star deducted for the rude kid working the front desk.

It's nice, but kind of small for the price. With COVID, a lot of the hands-on exhibits are closed down, and they made us pay $5 per person for the shows in addition to the $15 admission ticket for each adult and $12 for my grandchild. Our 7-year-old granddaughter liked the game area, and she really enjoyed the piano. The animals of the St. Johns were also a big hit. It's kind of cold outside, so the courtyard wasn't all that interesting. The history of Jacksonville was cool for the adults, but not my grandchild. She found it a little less interesting. We were in and out within 90 minutes, including the one show we caught, so if you have a whole day to spend, plan something in addition to the MOSH. We'll probably wait until after the pandemic to return when the whole experience is available.

Looking for a place where the kids can press buttons that aren’t yours? Look no further than Jacksonville’s Museum of Science & History located downtown. Locally known as MOSH, the museum offers interactive exhibits, educational experiences, and a history of Jacksonville that is truly suitable for all ages.

My grandfather and I came to MOSH to see the traveling Dinosaur exhibit which was phenomenal. I also enjoyed going through the Currents of Time exhibit, seeing the changes made to it from my school field trip days. What made it were the teen volunteers, though! Very funny, kind, and bright.

Great place to visit. Exhibits for children and all ages. Interesting history, astronomy and sea life pieces. As well as reptiles. This was my 1st to me going and I also did the planetarium show and it was entertaining and informative.

This was our first time visiting the MOSH museum, and we were blown away. The current dinosaur exhibit is awesome and included with the price of admission. It was honestly better than some of the other paid dinosaur exhibits that we have been to. My personal favorite was the chronicle of time portion that showed the history. The way it progressed in time as you walked through the exhibit was awesome. Lots of really cool memorabilia! We didn't do the planetarium this trip, and there was a touch tank that was closed on the first floor of the museum. I also loved that they had live animals and SUPER friendly staff who were very informative. The gentleman who was working with the animals when we visited answered all of my 3 year olds questions and allowed them to pet and interact with a tortoise and snake. I highly recommend this museum to anyone in the area. We will definitely be going back!

No, not engaging, or entertaining for kids. Dropped $60 for me and my kids, and drove almost 2 hours. Exhibits are sparse, look dated, many are just empty. It's like a kids museum, made by a bunch of old people, who forgot who they were making it for.

It was ok. We visted while in Jacksonville for a wedding. Much of the bigger draws were closed due to self imposed covid precautions. It was basically a bunch of mediocre exhibits divided by floor. Jacksonville natives (I know they were because of the Jaguars masks) were rude which is a theme throughout Jacksonville (for whatever reason). Like the city of Jacksonville this is a place id never got back to.

  • 1/5 Diane Jungkunz m. 3 years ago on Google
The receptionist at the desk was very insensitive to my medical problem the American disabilities act prevents her from asking me why I cannot wear a mask I have many reasons not to and I am a nurse of 30 years and my husband is a doctor of 40 years and she told me I needed to go back to nursing school. Someone working in the public like that needs to be more sensitive and be more kind and understanding she needs to go back and take some psychology before she works with the public. If it were me running that place she would be gone.

  • 5/5 Nicole A. 3 years ago on Google
The MOSH was clean and the exhibits were great. I always feel like its a bit a lacking, like not enough exhibits. I think the themes seem all over the place and don't really flow together well. The staff is always very friendly and the little humans I am related to all love coming here.

  • 5/5 Edward R. 3 years ago on Google

Nice place to take family & friends to visit. The MOSH have many things that will spark the brain cells in the young and the adult and perhaps you will learn a thing or two. Nice place to visit and while you are there perhaps consider on becoming a member supporting this noble institution. One more thing if you like to travel you may get to take advantage of your membership since it can be used at a small number of selected museums.

SPACE AND DINOSAURS! I mean really could i have asked for anything else? The outside was beautifully kept and the inside was so interactive and fun! Loved the planetarium, next time we want to see all the shows!

  • 4/5 Arren M. 3 years ago on Google
I have a two toddlers and we go through the musuem in 30 minutes. There isn't much for toddlers but it keeps the kids busy. There is a dino exhibit. It is not as extensive as the jax zoo but the kids loved seeing it (about a 5 mins walk through). Interesting history for teens and adults, wouldn't recommend for toddlers.

Loved this place. I went with my two youngest and we were there for hours. The boys especially enjoyed the dinosaurs. I enjoyed the history portion and explaining each exhibit to my boys. Also they have great deals for military, students, veterans, and even if you have a foodstamp card. If you have a foodstamp card it is $2.50 per person. This place is a positive place and gives back to the community. If you have the time check it out and support them. You will not regret it.

  • 3/5 Mayo C. 3 years ago on Google
Fun museum, but nothing spectacular. There are lots of toys and not a whole lot of science or history. Most of the exhibits are pictures not a model or diorama the kids can walk around and really experience.

Hurray for kids free during November at MOSH. There were some things like the treehouse climber room that was closed but this is still a fun day for kiddos. The Toytopia was a lot of fun especially the classic arcade games and the giant piano. Only reason for four stars is they have tried to make some things hands free but unsuccessfully. Better just to try to social distance and take advantage of the many many hand sanitizer stations. Note that adults still cost full price.

There are no words to describe the Cosmic Laser Show in the planetarium! Amazing time! The best Christmas songs to usher in the Christmas season! The lasers were incredible! It’s a nonstop show that is about one hour long, but is so fast paced that it doesn’t seem like one hour! The kids will love it. Take the entire family! Buy tickets online so you are prepared to enter. Arrive early because parking is scarce!

  • 1/5 Craig J. 6 months ago on Google • 2 reviews
It’s just ok. Doesn’t seem like the staff cares and are basically in hiding. Exhibits seem unkept and unorganized. Your typical woke race based exhibits also exist, I will say they have a warning on the door of the “Lynching” exhibit but, selecting charged up history topics seems base. Loads of dilapidated buildings and homeless in the area as well. I would recommend passing on this museum.
