This place was awesome! Highly recommend visiting. It’s got some hiking paths, a goat petting area, you can pet turtles, they have rattlesnakes, and chickens, etc. great place to spend the morning during a hot summer day. Kids LOVED it. They could walk around and explore. Be sure to get a map, we went the long loop which was tougher for young kids but they still loved it. They also have a few gators. Staff was friendly and hard working. Super affordable for a family visit.

This place is affordable and a good place to spend 1-2 hours. I do recommend visiting. Consists of an indoor area and hiking paths, a goat petting area, turtles, snakes, pigs and chickens. Be sure to get a map. My kids love to walk around and explore. It is not well maintained, the indoors is a bit outdated and things overall could be cleaned up but it is a good place to be able to roam free, learn and interact with animals.

What a lovely park! The trails were so fun and the animals kept my toddler entertained. Very lovely outdoor space to walk or even have a picnic. Can’t wait to go back!

This is a very fun place to see some animals and go on a trail, though I do wish that the trails can be longer. The tickets are cheap ($5 for adults), and you don’t need to purchase a ticket in advance.

Loved it. The goats were adorable. The trails were awesome (two types that are wheelchair/stroller friendly). Kids had fun petting the turtles and looking at the snakes, skunk, fish (dory and Nemo). Found a cool rock. The staff was super nice and engaging. $5/adult, $3 age 3-17, $40 annual membership. Oh, and the owl was adorable.

Very cheap place to go to! Lots of fun and educational materials around the property. Love seeing all of the goats and chickens. All of the animals were super friendly. Had a nice little hiking area as well. Good activity for one to four hours fun! 💖 ( Depending on what trails you do)

Excellent and knowledgeable staff. Beautiful old Florida nature preserves with trails and multiple animal exhibits. Beautiful butterfly habitat and a really cool boardwalk over a small water way. Amazing place for a hike and to get out in nature.

Tree Hill Nature Center is located in Arlington nestled in an unassuming entrance. Tree Hill is excellent for all ages and a cheap alternative to the zoo to see animals. There are pigs, chickens, goats, alligators, turtles, snakes, frogs, and a skunk to view. You'll start by going into the little museum to pay a d check out the historical scientific info about the animals in northeast Florida. Upstairs, you will see live reptiles and a touch tank. Outside are the other animals and several trails of varying lengths.

There is an entrance feee so be prepared for that. It’s not bad through. The nature center is larger than some and the kids really enjoyed it. They have unique things to see compared to others. The happy trail isn’t long and easy to navigate. The garden area is locked unless a worker is present. If a worker is there you might get lucky and get to dig up a fresh carrot or a sample. There was very little staff present. Definitely make sure you bring mosquito spray. They weren’t terrible but definitely noticeable if you stood still. Lots of picnic tables near the amphitheater but that’s where I noticed the mosquitos were the worst.

Love this little place. Trails are easy and not too long. Great for kids. They have a little petting area where you can pet the turtles, goats, and pigs. There are tortoises, an owl and alligators you can look at too. Something mes, on busy days, parking is difficult but they usually open the back parking lot when that happens.

I've been wanting to visit this place for nearly a decade! Finally got to go. I liked it! Those goats looked super healthy. Chickens were kind of boring. And they were working on some other areas, I hope they aren't down too long. I am considering maybe volunteering here. Such a cool inside the city small park. Bring bug spray! Decent bit of mosquitos. Overall, I recommend and I bought a pass to revisit!

Had an awesome outing with our daughters here on a Tuesday afternoon. We didn't see anyone else and had the place to ourselves which was really nice with a temperamental toddler. My 8 year old learned a ton about the biodiversity of native Florida. Her favorite part was getting to pet the live turtles (extremely well cared for and seemed not only socialized but friendly and happy) and my favorite was petting the (also very social, happy, and healthy) goats. The toddler most enjoyed the maze and gardens along the short paved trail where we were happy to find fully functional restrooms at the amphitheatre. It was a wonderful afternoon and well worth the $15 for an afternoon of fun, education, nature, and family time. Highly recommend you visit this place. I can't believe it took us this long to go but we will definitely be back again!

Lovely Lil nature center where you can host events! (Call ahead to make sure there is space) a nice boardwalk over a creek/wetland. Goats, pigs, chickens, owl, alligators, snakes (venomous and "harmless) turtles fish and frogs. I think it was about 2 miles of trails overall?

I really love Tree Hill. They have a beautiful boardwalk. There are goats, chickens, an owl & turtles. There's gardens and just being out in nature is a really good mood booster. Exercise and sunshine is really good for your overall health. It cost $5 a person it's well worth it!

Nice place to visit with little kids. Entrance fee is $5.00 adults. Under 3 is free. You can feed the goats for $2.00. (It’s animal crackers.) You can pet the large turtles. There are many pathways where kids can explore for fun. Building is aged, but the workers are nice.

The nature center is full of green boardwalks , pathways , animals and an interesting indoor area for live animals. Unfortunately at the moment we visited , the green garden area was closed but the center is still a good place to hang in and around nature.

Older facility, nice for a quick nature education experience. When it is rainy like today, the walkways are slippery. It is an at your own pace type place! My kids loved the goats and turtle touch tank. A few trails we didn't walk because of the rain but lots of flowers and trees and vines.

This park is gorgeous! I liked that the trails were shaded. This place is great for all ages. Many places to sit, rest, and take a moment to appreciate the beauty. An afternoon well spent.

Quiet. Peaceful. Inexpensive family fun. $5 for adults, $3 for children. Indoor exhibits with turtles and snakes. A few miles of well maintained trails. Feed the goats for $2.

I’ve been coming here for more than 30 years. They have a museum, three trails you can hike. Bring a walking stick. There is a lot of roots coming out of the ground in the trail. I always bring a picnic lunch to enjoy at the picnic tables, then I go on the hike. I also had my youngest son’s birthday party inside the museum one year. It turned out real nice. They now have Billy goats & free range chickens. They will accept donations for the eggs. They prefer to get at least a $2.50 donation for a dozen eggs. I call ahead to see if they can hold for me until I get there. Great eggs! They also have snakes in the museum and large turtles outside. I highly recommend this wonderful hidden gem in Arlington. It used to be free to get in, but you can pay the small fee or join the family yearly plan. They have a Butterfly Festival every year. They have food vendors, crafters, musicians there.

We visited early in the morning and there wasn’t anyone else around. The main office has a series of natural history dioramas, educational displays, and then a LOT of tanks with a variety of animals in them: a diamondback terrapin, a skunk, a soft shell turtle, and rooms of turtles and snakes! There were even venemous ones! There’s also a turtle touch tank along with an alligator mount. Outside the main office building, using the map, you can walk around on the many trails that loop around. The goats have a skyway called Hoofin’ it Highway, there’s a baby alligator pond, and some gopher tortoises (that were still in their burrows). A barred owl exhibit and another alligator pond are on the other side of the Happy Hen House. If you walk further away from the main office, there’s a beautiful elevated boardwalk that takes you over some swamp areas and creek to the side with the community garden, shrub maze, and amphitheater. There are some trails that loop around through the woods that are well-maintained and relaxing to hike. Overall, it felt safe and almost under-used! There are so many little gathering areas and so much potential for educational opportunities for families and children. I really enjoyed our visit and will probably be back when I visit Jacksonville again. I would recommend it as a really nice place to visit with your kids if you want some quality time that isn’t overpriced and has a low-key, grassroots vibe. Also, I think that it would be really fun to do a Campout in the Canopy on the boardwalk for families! PS watch out for poison ivy!

I took my students there on a Field trip and it was amazing. They loved the turtle touch tank and the snake exhibit. The nature trails were beautiful also.

A great nature center. Indoor exhibits of small creatures such as turtles, a skunk and snakes. A wide collection of poisonous and non poisonous varieties. Outdoor trails with outdoor animal exhibits...pigs, chickens, goats and alligators.

Very cute place to spend an hour or two. It needs some TLC but the indoor area has a great collection of reptiles and some other interesting displays. The animals all seem very happy and well cared for and their enclosures were very clean. Definitely recommend getting a map and taking the time to walk the trails as we saw more wildlife (songbirds, butterflies, and a box turtle) on the trails.

This is auch a great place to observe Jacksonville nature at it best. The trails are a great walk. I haven't seen one snake, but there are plenty of spiders and other insects to peak interest. There are also goats, chickens, turtles, a couple of alligators, an owl, and these cuties... two pigs. This is also a peaceful place to have a lunch outside at one of the many picnic tables. A few of them need some TLC, but the surrounding trees and plants are a good distraction.

Great environmental education content. The captive wildlife enclosures were clean and natural. The outside area had a lot of invasive species but was still nice to walk through and had a lot of pollinators.

Great park! We were with a small child and a stroller, and the trail with asphalt and a bridge was a great place for us to take a walk. Other trails are great for hiking. Our child was delighted with the chickens running around everywhere. I was also delighted with the goats and pigs and the animals inside. There is a picnic area. Great place to spend time in nature! 👍🏼
