I
was
tired
and
hungry
and
went
in
for
a
late
lunch
(3:45
pm)
on
Memorial
Day…
and
just
a
I
was
about
to
grab
the
handle
to
open
the
door,
and
employee
inside
flips
the
open
sign
to
closed,
with
me
less
than
two
feet
away.
I
thought
to
myself,
nobody
can
be
that
rude,
so
I
poked
my
head
in
the
door
and
timidly
asked
if
there’s
room
for
one
more,
thinking
that
since
I
saw
customers
still
inside,
still
eating…
and
because
closing
15
minutes
before
the
hour
seemed
a
bit
random…
I
rationalized
that
they
must
be
actually
closing
at
4:00
pm.
The
girl
who
flipped
the
sign
muttered
something
in
response
and
then
walked
away,
so
I
found
myself
asking
a
customer
(who
was
exiting…)
what
she
had
just
said
and
the
customer
—
the
customer
—
told
me
that
she
said
yes,
or
something
that
sounded
like
that.
By
then,
this
person
was
back
behind
the
counter…
so
I
walked
up
to
the
counter
and
asked
what
was
available,
and
quick,
understanding
that
they
were
about
to
close…
and
she
said
everything
is
fresh
and
available,
so
I
ordered
a
sandwich
and
a
side
of
soup,
and
took
a
seat.
The
food
arrived
in
a
bag
even
though
customers
were
still
eating
inside,
so
I
asked
if
I
can
eat
inside
and
she
replied,
“Only
if
you
eat
fast.“
That
was
the
last
straw.
I
asked
to
speak
to
the
manager
and
she
seemed
to
not
know
what
to
do
about
the
rude
person’s
behavior
but
offer
a
“thank
you”
for
alerting
her
to
the
situation.
It
was
clear
nothing
was
going
to
change
and
so
I
decided
to
just
take
my
meal
and
eat
outside,
so
as
to
not
inconvenience
them
anymore
than
I
now
realized
that
obviously
I
already
did,
and
so
I
ate
in
the
90+
degree
sun,
that
was
bearing
down
on
the
outdoor
seating…
and
as
I
ate
the
sandwich
as
quickly
as
I
could…
I
noted
that
the
sandwich
was
decent,
but
the
soup
was
cold
and
disappointing,
but
again
I
rationalized
that
maybe
it
was
just
as
well
since
the
hot
sun
was
becoming
unbearable
and
hot
soup
might
not
have
been
the
best
choice…
but
then
I
remembered
I
never
planned
on
eating
outside
in
the
hot
sun,
so
all
the
while
I
was
shoveling
my
food
down,
I
kept
thinking
how
unsatisfactory
the
response
was
from
the
manager
for
the
employees
atrocious
behavior,
and
decided
the
best
way
to
deal
with
this
behavior
was
to
write
a
story
of
my
encounter
and
give
it
to
the
internet.
The
truth
is,
if
I
wasn’t
terribly
hungry
and
on
limited
time
to
grab
a
bite,
I
would
have
given
the
food
back
and
asked
for
a
refund…
but
I
generally
like
the
food
at
Chicken
Salad
Chick,
but
on
this
occasion,
I
didn’t
like
the
Chicken
or
the
Chicks.
I
don’t
plan
on
returning
as
the
reality
is
that
there
are
plenty
of
places
to
eat
in
the
area…
that
actually
appreciate
their
customers,
and
make
an
effort
to
show
their
appreciation
with
good
service
and
good
food,
neither
of
which
I
received
at
Chicken
Salad
Chick.
