This is a nice restaurant in the historic district of St. Augustine with a handful of great vegan options. It's also very friendly to anyone avoiding gluten. The server was very helpful with explaining what could be vegan on the menu, and even told us where to get vegan ice cream in town after our meal. They also make great mojitos. The outdoor seating area was very nice, and even though it's kind of in the middle of a parking lot, has a lot of plants and decor to help you forget that. I tried the Chip and Dips, The Grain Bowl, and the Burrito Fresco. The soup of the day was a vegan tomato vegetable bisque, which was really incredible, even ok a humid day. The Grain Bowl is a really great option. It had really cozy flavors that went wonderfully with the tofu.

We went on busy Saturday night but enjoyed drinks from the bar upstairs while we waited and ended up eating at the bar when space opened up. The food was delicious, and the service was top notch. Highly recommend this local gem.

So glad a local recommended this to us! Super creative menu with lots of fun options from food to drinks. Both of our cocktails were delicious, and we were so impressed by the quantity of food. It absolutely makes the price worth it. Plus very cool interior and our server was so friendly and helpful! There are so many things I wanted to try I would definitely come back. *edit- we got Floridian again as takeout (heads up make dinner reservations somewhere on the weekends!) and it was still awesome! Again, cannot believe the portion sizes, the salmon on my salad was huge!

We went here for dinner. Rustic feel, clean with nice staff. Food was good overall although the fried green tomatoes did not seem like they were salted out of the fryer and the pimento cheese was a bit dry. Blackened tofu and grits were very good as were the veggie burgers. The potatoes that come with the burgers are excellent and all the sauces we got were great. The Kentucky Derby pie was very good. Vegetarian friendly with a couple vegan dishes. We had a great time and would definitely go back.

Stopped in for dinner and had a few drinks, appetizers, and the chicken sandwich. Staff was very friendly and the service was fast. Food and drinks were underwhelming. Fried green tomatoes were under breaded and not very crispy. Tomato soup was watery and bland. Chicken sandwich was cooked well and had decent flavors, but nothing to come back for. Overall, okay food and good service for a casual fast paced diner type environment.

We visited the Floridian on a rainy night in February and had a great experience! The atmosphere and service were top-notch. They have a lovely outdoor area, and had it not been cold and rainy we would have loved to sit outside. I had a fantastic cocktail (the Pine-Mingo), and my husband and I split the Company's Coming plate. The pickled veggies and bread were great, but the fried green tomatoes were a bit on the bland side. We also had salads- I had the Citrus Beet Salad and my husband had the New Cobb with shrimp. Both were fantastic. If we're back in St. Augustine we'll definitely return!

The BEST curry I’ve ever had hands down! Cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. My family and I were visiting from out of town and came here for lunch. We all ordered the grain bowl with blackened tofu and OH. MY. GOD. it was so good and the tofu was incredible! Everything we ordered from the appetizers to entrees to drinks was great. We came back the next day for dinner and all ordered the golden curry with tofu. 100/10. We plan on coming back just to visit this restaurant again! Highly recommend if you are vegan or non-vegan. You won’t regret it!!

The food is very good, drinks are super good! Worth going just for cocktails!.. we went for a light lunch, so we have not tried the dinner menu yet. We got in and out with no problem, staff is friendly. The restaurant is on Spanish st.

This is a very nice restaurant with a home like atmosphere. They have extensive menu of beer, wine, and cocktails. Their pickled shrimp appetizer was delicious. The menu is full of creative dishes and it was difficult to choose. I wound choosing the cornbread stack, which was ok but sounded better on the menu. My wife had the fish and grits that was very good. The staff did a great job with our party of 10. This is definitely a cool place grab dinner and drinks while in St Augustine.

Place is nice, the staff is super friendly but what we ordered was not great. We had a melted fish sandwich, fish was good but the bread was very bad, disintegrated fast and did not add any flavor to the sandwich. We also ordered the pork sandwich which was also lacking flavor. Would recommend a couple more fans for the outside seating since it is so hot during the summer. Dog friendly outside.

Liked this place a lot, the food was great and outdoor seating was pleasant. I may be bias but I enjoy any curry flavor dishes and this place has a delicious Jamaican curry flavored rice and chicken stew dish. The textures made me eat it all within minutes. Friends orders were all satisfied and no complaints. I tasted the greens stew and was a big fan. Good vibing restaurant to check out in this historical city.

We showed up at dinnertime on a Saturday without a reservation (our mistake) so instead of waiting 30 minutes for a table with a toddler, we ordered takeaway. The food was ready so fast and packaged so well that it made it the 20 minutes back to the house to eat. The pulled pork and cornmeal waffle was excellent. 10/10

The food here was amazing and affordable. The service was above mediocre but could have been better. I love the atmosphere of the restaurant. I would recommend getting the key lime cheesecake as it was absolutely delicious! The appetizers were some of the best I had including the fried green tomatoes and pork belly. I would DEFINITELY recommend this place!

I had the gain bowl with blacken salmon and my husband had the meatloaf sandwich. Both of our meals were amazing. Highly recommend. The staff knew we were trying to make a tour and were very accommodating. 5 stars to the bartender on my amazing espresso martini!!!

The food wasn't bad but wasn't great. The atmosphere was very nice and I'm guessing other items may have been better. We had the fried chicken sandwich and the sunshine salad with chicken. I don't usually complain about service but our waiter, Chris E, wasn't friendly, we had to get our own straws, our own ketchup and he didn't ask once during our meal how it was or if we needed anything. Frankly he seemed like he didn't want to be there. Probably the most disappointed we've been with service in a long time.

We dined at The Floridian on a busy Friday night, and our foresight to make online reservations proved wise. The restaurant was bustling, with walk-ins being turned away due to the crowd. "We originally booked an indoor table but, upon arrival, asked if we could sit outside. The staff accommodated our request and seated us at a comfortable outdoor table under a heat lamp. This thoughtful arrangement allowed us to enjoy the fresh air of the cool 62°F evening without sacrificing warmth, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere for our meal. The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the food. We found the menu to be refreshingly health-conscious, with fresh ingredients featured prominently. Our choices for the evening, the Chicken Golden Curry and the Beef Brisket Tacos, were shared between us. Both dishes were a delight, bursting with great flavors and perfectly portioned for sharing. What stood out, apart from the delicious food, was the quick and efficient service. Despite the restaurant's evident popularity that night, our meal was served promptly, adding to the overall positive experience. The ambiance of The Floridian deserves a special mention. It struck a fine balance between lively and comfortable, contributing to a fantastic dining experience.

The upstairs bartender was so friendly and helpful not to mention making 4 craft cocktails quick while we waited for our reservation. We sat in main dining room and was quickly greeted by a loud, abrasive waitress w/ a mask on so hard to hear in an active restaurant. Anyway, the fried green tomatoes were light and had homemade ricotta w/ buttermilk ranch, very tasty. Our friends ordered the pickled shrimp and raved about the toasted bread to compliment. I highly recommend ordering the meatloaf sandwich and add pimento cheese, outstanding. We also had the cornbread panzanella salad, I was hoping for more of a traditional version, instead of arugula. It was tasty just wouldn’t order again. While visiting, I’d definitely stop in again, check it out.

Let’s say if you visit St. Augustine The Floridian is must to eat for lunch and/ or dinner. A great outdoor seating and welcoming service/inside seating as well. What was great that they have many options you can make gluten free. We started off with chips/veggies and dips adding pimento cheese. The dips are black bean poblano dip, chickpea hummus and pimento cheese; these dips is the best I ever had and I definitely ate it with my main entree. For my main entree, I ordered the shrimp banh mi po boy which has the freshness of a banh mi, shrimp flavored as a po boy and well toasted bread to top it all off. Also, ordered the Bay of Pigs w/ gluten free bread, the pork was flavorful and rich and the bread wasn’t like normal gf bread, where it falls apart. Even though we were full we had to make our stomach explode with a warm gluten free brownie with caramel drizzle and whip cream that also exploded my taste buds; to think it was flourless is impressive.

The food was excellent. The place was busy, but our server didn't skip a beat. Drinks came quick as well as the food. I would definitely eat here again.

Absolutely delicious food! One of our favorite restaurants downtown. The Autumn Grain Bowl with chicken, the shrimp n grits (served with more like a corncake), curry kale vegetable soup, tacos, chocolate peanut butter cheesecake, and gluten free chocolate brownie were all divine. Look forward to going back every time!

Went on a busy night and were able to get seated right away. The food was southern with a twist. The fried chicken salad was delicious and the fish cornbread stack was full of flavor. My specialty cocktail was fruity and packed a punch. The facilities were clean and convenient. The staff was friendly. Recommend for anyone visiting St. Augustine.

Incredible spot, especially for lunch! The Fried Green Tomatoes were delicious, the tacos were amazing but the SHRIMP BANH MI PO BOY was incredible! Their bread is awesome. AND one of the best mojitos I've ever had!

Their chicken and waffles is dank. Their drunks are superb. The ambience here is really cool too. Nice setting and upscale vibe. But Their drinks and food... so good! Great selection even though this place makes you want everything it all looks so good.

We've dined here a couple of times with no disappointment at all. Do make a reservation, because even on what should have been a slow Monday night there was a wait if you didn't have reservations. For shear variety of vegetarian/ vegan options for dinner this may be one of the best places in St. Augustine. Almost all the items on the menu can be made vegetarian or vegan... including the blackend tofu and grits instead of shrimp and grits. The tofu was extremely good. The pickled veggies are surprisingly sweet (without being too sweet.. hard to explain). Shrimp dishes were very well prepared, no rubbery overcooked shrimp here.

This was our 2nd time visiting The Floridian. It was an amazing experience once again! The whole retro vibe of the places is fantastic and our server was lovely and helped make our evening enjoyable. We enjoyed beautiful and tasty cocktails (the cucumber gin cocktail was the best I’ve ever had!) along with the Company’s Coming appetizer. Everything on the plate was so fresh and so delicious!! I ordered the catch of the day (mahi) and was blown away at how good it was!! My husband also enjoyed his pork and waffles dinner. We both agreed that my dish was the best. I ordered a second gin cocktail for dessert and hubby ordered the key lime cheesecake. We left full and happy and can’t wait to come back again!! The Floridian is a must do while your in St. Augustine. 10/10 highly recommend!!

This is the 2nd time my husband and I have visited the Floridian. Both times it has blown us away. But this visit was highlighted even more so because of the wonderful service from our server Doug! He was incredibly attentive and had the perfect suggestions. But what really stood out was when I was casually telling him about a drink I had ordered last year during our visit. I had actually taken a photo of the drink from the menu and showed it to him. He said they were actually about to bring that drink back the following week. I assumed I just barely missed it. But when he came back he had already spoken to the bartender and asked if they’d be able to make me one during our visit. He was an absolute delight. The food was phenomenal as we remembered it to be. Highly highly recommend the “Biscuit and Belly!” This is becoming a staple for our visits from Orlando. The food, staff and atmosphere are so wonderful and unique!

Very nice restaurant with delicious food and drinks. Pro's: Joseph was an awesome server. Best pork belly I ever had in the Biscuit and Belly appetizer. Crispy and yummy. The biscuit was amazing as well. Cool interior. We were seated by the bar but you can sit in the dining room or outside. All look like excellent options. Fried chicken in the fried chicken sandwich was huge and delicious. Golden Curry was so tasty and filling. A really nice dish. Mayan drink was complex and spicy, a great drink with a bite. Con's: None! Menu looks amazing and we will be back to try something else. Location is awesome, right near St George and King Streets.

A nice restaurant with good vegan options! Strengths: + Great location right off St. George Street + Larger restaurant with lots of seating (however, still get a reservation) + Great fast service that was kind + Clean and eclectic atmosphere that was well kept + Good vegan option list so we weren't stuck with only one option or salad. + INEXPENSIVE compared to surrounding restaurants. We were at $65 including tip, two entrees, one appetizer, one cocktail, and one mocktail. AMAZING! Opportunities: - the vegan version of the fried green tomatoes needed more seasoning. Even smothered in the sauce, it was quite bland. This is the only dish we actively were not a fan of. 2 stars on that dish. Just some nice salt, pepper, and garlic powder in that batter would go a long way. - the potatoes in the nicoise were a little under cooked. We couldn't finish some of them that had a bit of a crunch. 4 star on flavor and everything else.

  • 5/5 Jaydn C. 1 year ago on Google
Yeah I’m gonna give this place 5 stars! It was absolutely delicious!! The hostess was so friendly and our server was great - I’m sorry I can’t remember her name! I wanted everything on the menu but I got the steak and it was like butter! My husband got the sausage and shrimp dish - amazing! The drinks were excellent, the atmosphere was wonderful! My brother-in-law got the fried chicken with waffles - WOW!! I’ll be back next year for another fabulous dinner!

  • 4/5 Matt M. 1 year ago on Google
First off, hats off to our server JEN who was simply amazing. But after all, there is a lot to love at this casual yet upscale eatery. First the bad, parking. Anywhere downtown St. Augustine is problematic, heck most cities in the US have downtown parking issues, just want you to k ow it going in. There is a lot to the side that we used which was perfect, so start there. Second, we did not have reservations, so we had a short wait. It was Sunday night, so I can imagine busier nights having a longer wait so RESERVATIONS SUGGESTED. Okay, on to the food: Fried Green Tomatoes - 10/10, four well cooked green tomatoes, topped with a delightful sauce. Fingerling Potatoes - good, but my wife wanted fries. Cobb Salad - it was different, good but not great and did not resemble a Cobb salad in any way. The dressing was PHENOMENAL. Burger - lean grass dead beef and delicious with a home made relish. By the way, relish and pickles are one of their specialties. Cornbread Stack - UNBELIEVABLY GOOD. I mean seriously, simply cornbread and your choice of protein, but it’s simplicity works. Dessert - too full, next time. If you want to splurge - go for the MP fish on any of the dishes. They really do fish well here. If you are on a budget - get a full salad (big) with your choice of protein or the cornbread stack, it is indulgently good.
