Our new favorite diner! Came here on a recommendation from friend and we were not disappointed. Excellent waitress, food came out fast and place was clean as a whistle. We'll be back every week, Grinders has earned our loyalty ❤️

Took forever to get the food, Small portions, Poor quality, Coffee mediocre, service mediocre, Asked for butter, got margarine and was told that’s all they have… They actually brought whipped margarine and then I asked for real butter and they brought stick margarine. Bacon was paper thin and mostly the white fatty parts no meat… Side order of fried okra was good but such a small portion it would maybe be suitable for a toddler. Eggs dripping in margarine on my plate. Pancakes had some kind of funky taste like they used the same grill for onions beforehand or something.

I will be coming here every time I visit Jacksonville! The waitress "Jasmine " was a excellent server, no one at our table was disappointed with their food and drinks! Not pricey but worth every dollar to dime! Home cooked style of meals. A lot to choose from!

Dropped my car off at Tom Bush Mazda for service, had the courtesy driver take me to Grinders while I waited. Was soooo hyped up after reading the reviews. Well, I was tremendously disappointed! The country ham was paper thin and therefore over cooked! Also, tasted kinda old when eaten by itself. The home style potatoes also was lacking! Place is old and small, great for local regulars. Just soooooooo disappointed!

Love this place! First time here since my brother brought me back in 1992. It was nice to come back. The food is just as good as it was back then and the service had the best southern charm other restaurants strive for. Please never change!

I ordered a burger on Texas Toast. Toast was burned but they corrected it immediately. Came back out just right and was one of the best burgers I have ever had, it was cooked pink in middle like I asked and was fantastic. Wife ordered breakfast, chicken fried chicken and eggs. The egg whites were over cooked as well, brown and crunchy but she cut most of that away. She said hers tasted great as well. Server was nice and polite. A bit hard to get her attention but they were very busy so we understand that. Overall good experience and we will be back.

Waitress forgot to ring in certain food items as well as having to ask for mustard like 3 times. Ordered apple cobbler at the end because there’s a sign on the wall that says 3.49. They charged me 4.99 and when I asked them to change it they said they won’t because prices are subject to change. I understand prices change, but if you at the current moment have it listed as 3.49, you need to honor that price. However since the server didn’t want to even ask her manager about it, I just took it out of the tip. I’m in the service industry, and if my restaurant had a discrepancy like that, I’d talk to my manager to honor it. Not just flat out say No and that Our prices are subject to change. That’s a Bad business practice. We ordered it because of the sign saying it was cheap as 3.49. In the end what we even received wasn’t even worth 4.99. It was a half filled cup n doesn’t even look appetizing.

3.5 but i can't do the half. Food was good, Menu was LARGE. Timing was spot on. Coffee was great. April was a fantastic server. Back to the food, it was good, standard. Nothing over the top. Nothing that stood out compared to others. We certainly be back to try other dishes.

Nice little spot with a number of options to choose from on the menu. You can seat your self then pay at the register. Outside seating is available I ordered the fried pork chop grits and eggs and the food was good service was good when I entered I approached the counter and was greeted with a friendly smile

Country Ham and 2 Sunnyside up eggs with potatoes added cheese and onions. Not to mention my husband's fantastic breakfast spread. Got all we need. I mean what more could you ask for. 😊

Food was okay. The eggs were good; they were bland, which, in my opinion, can be a good thing: let the customer salt/pepper to taste. Some of the home fries tasted a little odd, as if cooked on a surface right after bacon; or maybe the kitchen uses lard. Biscuits, gravy, and sausage were all good.

Everything was great, service was fast and my cup was never empty. On the downside, the blueberries on the waffle were rather tasteless and I should have ordered the whipped cream on the side (it quickly made the waffle soggy).

This was my first visit here. I heard they had great breakfast. I didn't order breakfast but my husband did. He said it was very good, but nothing special, just good no nonsense breakfast. I ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and a salad. The salad was quite a disappointment. Wilted lettuce and old tomatoes. The food was good. The real shining star of this place was our service. Top notch. Our waitress was named Jasmine. She was so polite, attentive and seemed to love her job. I will probably try it again just because of Jasmine.

Fantastic diner that is celebrating 30+ years of business. We knew we found the right place for breakfast when walked in and noticed quite a few of regulars. Our server, Megan, was fabulous and very attentive. If you’re looking for a delicious and filling meal that definitely won’t break the bank - then this is the place!

I usually dine in and have a great meal. Today is the first (and last) time I ordered to go. Undercooked sausage links, the runniest "over medium" eggs I have ever seen, and the parchment paper over the food absorbed almost all of the cheese for my grits. I had to microwave everything to cook it. I hope this is a one-time mistake. Saddest part? Everyone was very nice and polite. I didn't find out about this until I got home. Great food usually and the staff is lovely. If I ever go back there, dine in only.

Came here my sister's first time in years. They recommend this place. Grinders was decently busy on a Thursday morning with no wait on seating. We seated ourselves inside and the waitress immediately greeted us. You can sit outside. Staff was very nice and polite. Nice & clean. Bathroom has 2 stalls. We got coffee and gave us waters which was nice. They have plenty of choices on the menu for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Got the 2 rye toast cut half buttered, 2 round sausages, scrambled eggs, & 2 or 3 tomatoes. I thought I asked for turkey bacon, but non the less It was delicious. One of my sister's enjoys & recommends one of their sausage links. I believe it was smoked one. Also the French toast. Very decent price. Enjoy the decor as well. Would def stop by here again. They also have a rewards program and a facebook.

Went in today to have breakfast with my husband. No one in the restaurant had gloves on preparing food! I asked to speak to a manager which obviously took there time to come. So me and my husband nicely got up and left. Do these people not know this is how hepatitis is spreaded? Once I asked the waitress about using her bare hand to pick up food she began to wash her hands. Really turned my stomach. Please do better! Will not revisit that restaurant.

The food is delicious and priced great! Little hideaway spot we found today. I love the southern flavoring and vast array of food options for breakfast and lunch. Servers super friendly! Fast delicious food.

The perfect diner! The food was great, service was fantastic, we've been here twice in 2 weeks and both times were FAN-TASTIC! Michelle was our server the second time, and she was wonderful! We're from Orlando and we come up just about every weekend. This place is quickly becoming our go-to spot while in town.

We’ve been here many, many times. In the beginning, good and service were good. Now, not so much. Last few visits have been less than satisfactory. Our most recent was yesterday, April 23rd. Found a table right away. Waitress took 10 min to greet us and take drink order. Told us food was 30-45 min wait. No biggie as we had an hour my daughter to math tutoring and we could eat fast and be on our way. We ordered at 10:32am. Waitress was sporadic with checking in with us. At 11:15 we finally asked her when our food would be out as we had to leave by 11:30 at the absolute latest. She says 6 more min. Finally, after 10 more minutes we finally get her attention and tell her we need it to go as we are late and need to leave. They finally get our food packed up and we pay and go on our way. We start eating our food and the order is wrong. We didn’t check the order until after we left (our fault) but…you had an hour to prepare it and the waitress repeated the order back to us. Yes they were busy and probably short staffed but if that’s the case, stop seating people, causing long wait times. Disappointing visit to say the least however their omelets are very good.

Bacon was syper greasy. When I opened the sandwich to pat it dry , there was a long hair. I would have overlooked it, except my daughter found hair on her plate too

I have wanted to try this place for a long while now and finally I brought my daughter and her friend in. I understand longer than normal waits for food these days but this place was so no understaffed, heck they had people in back laughing and chatting away. On top of which, I ordered the open roast beef with mash potatoes, not only was it barely room temperature, the bread felt and tasted like it was old and stale. Wish I never went in, and just kept it as a “want to go”. The only reason I gave it a 3 star instead of 1 was for the waitress. She was very pleasant and I don’t blame her for the taste or condition of the food nor the time it took.

We (2 people) recently had breakfast at Grinders, and while the eggs, grits, meat, and toast were decent, the overall experience left much to be desired. What struck us as quite disappointing was the cost of a simple cup of coffee and a glass of iced tea, which totaled $7.00 plus tax. To our surprise, our final bill for breakfast, including tip, amounted to $40.26. While the food was acceptable, the pricing seemed disproportionate, especially for a breakfast outing. In comparison to other local options, we felt that the value for money was not aligned with our expectations. Given the total cost, we've decided to invest our money in establishments where we believe $40.26 would provide a more satisfying and memorable dining experience. In the future, we may opt to enjoy breakfast at home, where we have control over ingredients and costs. We hope that our feedback is taken constructively, as we believe it's essential for businesses to consider both the quality of their offerings and the perceived value by customers."
