It's a very old place. But don't be deceived and step in. May be just have a Tea and go. Don't try to eat anything else. All Jaffna veg eateries in Early morning tastes good. Except this one. Their vadais are not crisp even in morning :( They even charge for curries and this was not the normal in any other Veg eateries in the Jaffna, Even in whole island. I would rank this restaurant as last among all vegetarian eateries i ate in peninsula Never the less due to location it's popular don't be deceived. Only plus point i see is they open early morning before others open. There is a beautiful nice temple located nearby. Parcel is not good. they give rice enough for four people but you need to buy 5 parcel to get enough curry for one person. Today early morning I saw a terrible thing. One man who seems to be well educated open the shelf and touched every short eats and finally ordered just a Tea. He was checking the hotness of the items by hand. It was gross. I was literally shocked and looked at others in the restaurants they were quite normal. I just didn't raise the alarm to make a scene as it seems normal. I would never set foot in this restaurant. Not because of this also for just bad food. I have tried this restaurant more than 5 times to see what is special and just to justify my decisions are right. And every time the restaurant proved it's worse and does not need the recognition it has. You can still go and prove for yourself but when you do make sure to write a review!! Good or bad as you feel. PS: This place is great place if you are to observe Jaffna culture and get a sense of cultures. Staffs are friendly. My critique is only about FOOD. not about staffs behavior.

The place was clean. Best for breakfast. Had a cup of tea and it was fantastic. The tea was made in front of us. It was made out of fresh milk from farm. The food was great. Should really try that samosa made out of potato as filling. It was a heaven for vegans. The service was good. Friendly servers. The prices are cheap in compared to other places. Cleanliness is well preserved. Should visit more often.

Authentic Saiva Kadai- a vegetarian eatery in SriLanka. You are received with the unmatched Jaffna hospitality. Don’t expect an ambient atmosphere, well painted posh interior. Rather large dining tables with wooden benches greet you. Let it be rice and curry or dosai or vadai or paratta you get an ideal meal soothing your cravings. Tip: Piping hot rice and curry in an empty stomach is divine Bon Appetit!

My father introduced Sanmugam Hotel in my childhood days, I can forgot one milaku tea and shorteats, and in my current days my favourite vegetarian hotel is sanmugam hotel, because food's very tasty naturally made, no chemicals, fresh foods. And hygiene level is good. Staff are ontime working. Enough food for one person. Thanks to this hotel. I'm personally highly recommended this hotel for all vegetarian.

Best place before 5 yrs. Now quality become very low. Curries are very poor.

Visited in 2018, perfect hospitality from the owner, beautiful fresh vadai and tea. I wish it was closer to where we lived
