One of the best and popular tourist attractions now. Everyone who comes to Jaffna with the family they will visit to Rio ice cream parlour . The prices are affordable. They have plenty staff to turnaround the tables. There is no specific seating plan as such or reservations taken. When we arrive, wash the hands. Order in the till and collect from the collection counter. They have seating in two floors . A/C doesn’t work upstairs. The only down side is - toilets are filthy and limited. Apart from this they have varieties of ice cream , rolls and hot drinks to self ourselves.

Probably one of the most disorganized ice cream parlors of the world. Their ice cream good. Value for money. But service is horrible. Majority customers are pilgrims from the South. Since there is NO queue, you have to power through to the paying counter. Reaching issuing counter is a nightmare for senior citizens. Young and old fighting to reach the counter for a mere ice cream is a pathetic site. Come on guys you can do better.

Soooooo yummy. Photos speak for themselves. Always very busy no matter the time of day. You order at the register and then go and show the bill at the kitchen window. They will make it for you on the spot and you take it with you to the table. It is a self service place. We went pretty much everyday to this restaurant. Kids always say this is the highlight of their Jaffna trip.

The famous Jaffna ice cream, good experience. Nice ice cream, parking is available, nicely kept premises. They do have some pastries as well. We had blueberry sundae with nuts, blueberry ice cream and Jambo ice cream Point for improvement, I felt ice cream was too sugary. Maybe that’s their thing or uniqueness in their recipe. But in my opinion it damages the core taste.

You can get many types of ice cream in different flavors and it is very delicious. Fruit flavored ice creams are the best for me. Many people can sit in this shop at the same time. Also, you can park in front of the shop.

It was really crowded when I went. Personally, I gave the fruit and nuts as well as the jumbo a try. Taste-wise, the jumbo was just average, not as amazing as the hype suggests. Unfortunately, I didn't have much time to try more options. On the bright side, I noticed that people really enjoy the ice cream there. The place was bustling with tourists, and the service they offered was quite good. The ambiance also stood out – it was really great and added to the overall experience.

Since I haven't actually tried the sizzling dish (not too sure whether this is available in marine drive branch of Rio Ice cream) thought of giving it a try. The dish tasted good but nothing extraordinary tbh. However what was so irritating was poor service (approx 5 mins to take the order, 15-20 mins to receive the order) So overall the dish wasn't worth the wait. This experience was only at Jaffna branch, always loved the one in Colombo.

I came here after a long time and the place is always busy even on a weekday night. Plenty of parking outside and plenty of seats inside and outside. Many flavours and types to choose from. They even have short eats and other snacks apart from ice cream. Many people were ordering the sizzling ice cream and the place was covered in smoke with the fans just circulating the smoke inside the venue. I believe the management needs to do something to extract the smoke.

They say you have not been to Jaffna if you haven't tried Rio Ice Cream. Tried it and wasn't dissapointed. They have so many flavours of ice cream and drinks to choose from. They also have vegetarian Chinese rolls that goes well with the ice cream. The flavour I choose was a bit too sweet. It was good nevertheless. The place is usually packed so expect to be in queue for a while. There are two queues. One queue for ordering/paying and the other to collect your order. They will start making your order once you show the payment receipt to the order collection point. Would be more efficient if this process was streamlined.
