Hindus adore Keerimalai Springs, a sacred water source that has long been frequented by locals. They think the water has a remarkable healing ability here. Regardless, the spring's water is mineralized and salty despite not coming from the ocean because the basins are above sea level. These are not hot springs, though. Water may only be used for bathing, not drinking. Anyone may swim in the springs due to their excellent swimming facilities. Although everything in this place is straightforward, the inhabitants are incredibly helpful and social and will explain everything to you. There are two swimming pools: a sizable pool for males that looks out over the ocean, and a smaller one just for ladies. There is a changing area, as well as a shady spot to unwind. Even in swimwear, ladies must cover themselves with a towel or sheet. You can swim while wearing clothing (as some locals do), or strip to a swimsuit. You may take things with you and set them on the stairs surrounding the pool while changing in the locker rooms or right next to the springs beneath the umbrellas. Keep a tight check on items since theft has happened.

Whatever pool you are not in, you are in this pool It's useless without pipes... 🙈☀️🍂🐬🤽‍♂️🏊‍♀️🏊‍♀️ "Kirimale Pond - Jaffna" The specialty of this pond, which is located next to the Kirimale sea, is that the water in this pond is salt-free. In short, no salt at all. It is reported that even though a large stream of water flows into the sea from this pond, the amount of water does not decrease. There is a beautiful legend about this Kerimale pond. A miracle has happened to two thousand people who lived in India from this pond. Although the body part of these two animals is human, their faces are animal. The face of one taus is a mugati face and the other taus has a horse face. In the meantime, they have received a message that there is a pond in Sri Lanka and that if they bathe in it, their faces will return to human form. So these two Tausans have come to bathe in this pond after crossing the sea. Later, there are legends that their faces turned into real human form.

Tip: get there around 4 PM that’s will be just enough time to have a bath dress up and go visit the Sakkotai Cape (the Northern most point of Sri Lanka) Point to know: the male and female pools are separated Feedback: the area is stunning and the water (as I heard) is from the bottomless well. The sad part is the place is not maintenaned. They have a place to shower pre and post using the kings pool but the pool is not maintained!! Has moss all over and a huge risk of injuries.

The pond and the Kovil area is beautiful all the time. They offer rooms to stay at night for visitors at a reasonable price. Pond , it is wordless to explain the natural beauty . And also the beach is calm and so nice. The kovil bless the visitors and pilgrims with traditional prayers. A beautiful location. Place is decorated with beautiful status , land marks , garlands , and also with a garden.

Ancient water 💦 spring. Has bathing facilities for both males and females. The place is fairly clean. Not much crowded. This is located on the top of Sri Lanka and has a panoramic view of North Sea 🌊. Sea is not deep. Great location for nice photos.

Keerimalai Natural Pond, nestled near the historic Keerimalai Sivan Kovil, is a place where nature and history intertwine beautifully. This natural spring holds centuries of stories, making it a unique and revered historical site. The sacredness of the pond and its surroundings is palpable, and you can sense the weight of its cultural heritage. Taking a dip in the cool, pure waters feels like connecting with the past while rejuvenating the soul. A hidden historical gem in the heart of Jaffna. I highly recommend visiting to experience the rich history and natural beauty.

The pond area is available to have a bath separately for gents and ladies(covered area). The surrounding is pretty refreshing to experience. There’s a kovil as well. It can get crowded at times of worship. Wasn’t too crowded when we visited recently in a Sunday evening. Parking is available and there’s a small parking fee you have to pay At the time off exit. Overall, if you want to have a fresh water pond bath by the sea this is the place to try out. For Ladies there seems to be a separate pond with covered area. Gents pond is open and surrounded with a short wall. Parking is available outside and walk from there.

Good spot for a bath along the Northern coastal road. There is a big parking area and the parking fee was Rs 20 for a bike. Many locals visit here as they believe the water to be sacred. There is also a Kovil next to the pool. The water source for the pool is underground. The pool is situated right next to the sea but the water in the pool is not salty at all. Evening would be the best time to visit because you can see the view of the Northern sun set at the beach.

A pond with natural spring water. It’s so close to the sea. Hindus believe the water here is sacred such that it has a special healing power. A separate area is there for the ladies to have a bath. Since many people are bathing at a time and the water is still and not flowing we felt it was not so clean to dive down. Parking is available at the main road and you have to walk a small distance to reach here. Washroom facilities available to change your clothes.

A recommended destination offering a unique experience, this place is shallow and therefore poses no danger. However, exercise caution due to scattered rocks, and note that the water may not be exceptionally clean.

A must visit place since it gives a total different experience. It is not so deep, hence not dangerous at all. But be mindful about the rocks here and there. Plus you can’t expect water to be super clean.

You are not allowed to enter to this sacred place by wearing your flipflop.Anyone can have a bath here and enjoy but women are not allowed to this place.Eventhough they are not allowed they have a separate place to bath but I don't think it is clean.Eventhough you're not allowed to wear flipflop or they consider this place as a sacred place, the steps and the other surrounding area are washed and put the dirty water into this pool.I got out as soon as when I saw that.

There is a story behind this holy bath place. It was written on one of the big boards near the kovil and one of my friends translated it to me. The view of the sea is spectacular. There are separate bathing places for me and women. They also have separate parking spaces which are not free. We tried mangos from a small vendor as well.

A very beautiful place. So many people were having a bath and having fun when we go there. Seems a clean place. All the water inside the pond is naturally getting replaced by new water all the time.

The best highlight location in Jaffna. Such a beautiful pond to bath in and no crowd on weekdays can see a beautiful sunset in the evening. Men and women have seperate ponds to bath in. The mens pond is not that deep and the water is perfect for relaxation. Changing rooms are available as well.

Since this is a Scared Water Spring, mainly for Hindus, the beach is bit polluted with the left overs of ritual offering for the dead. The surrounding is now under massive renovations to Carter the devotees.

It’s a massive bathing tank and people believe bathing here cures diseases. There are two separate pools for both males and females. Only the walls separate the waters of the spring and the sea. It is said this underwater water source also connects to the Nilavarai bottomless Well.
