Point Pedro, the northernmost point of Sri Lanka, is easily accessible by any vehicle, and there are no ticket charges. Marked by a concrete board with the Sri Lankan flag, this charming town in Jaffna District lies on the road between Kankasanthure and Velvetithurai. Don't miss the opportunity to visit this scenic spot if you ever travel to Jaffna!

This location is marked as the very top point of the island. Locals are around but not exactly a tourist destination. Nothing much to do except for the photogenic location and the geographic value of being the northern most point in Sri Lanka. Well maintained and clean surrounding. They are few local fishermen boats around. Simply can drop by take few photos enjoying the surrounding.

The most northern point of Sri Lanka lies on the edge of road between Kankesanturai and  Valvettithurai. This point is marked by a concrete board on the edge of a correl with a Sri Lankan Flag painted on it.  This site is easily reachable by any vehicle along the road which goes along the beach. A small army camp lies on the small stretch of beach. You could stop your vehicle here and and walk up to this point over waves and corral reef right.

We visited there on 4th February 2022, National Day in Sri Lanka. It was a nice place and iconic. At the very top of our teardrop isle, Sakkotai Cape rests as the northernmost point of Sri Lanka in the neighborhood of Point Pedro.

The northernmost point of Sri Lanka At the very top of our teardrop isle, Sakkotai Cape rests as the northernmost point of Sri Lanka in the neighborhood of Point Pedro. As you drive towards the coast from the Point Pedro town, you are first greeted with a directional signpost that includes distances to various countries. To the west, the Point Pedro Lighthouse stands in the shadow of a telecommunications tower, while to the east; a concrete flag of Sri Lanka sits at the edge of the shore to indicate your arrival at Sakkotai Cape.

Nothing much to see except for the 2 monuments. You can park your vehicle by the road and just walk 2 mins to here. The view of the sea looks nice and that's about it. I wished we could see India from here, but unfortunately that's not the case.

This is the northernmost point in Sri Lanka. There’s a special area built to represent the unity of Sri Lanka. The beach around here is full of coral rocks and beautiful. The permanent signpost erected here in concrete reads "Unity in Diversity is the Strength of Sri Lanka

It is the north end of the Sri Lanka. The beach side is wonderful. Clear water, nice to see. There is no facilties to spend the time there. Reaching the place and taking photos will be the memory. Other than this, not a suitable place to spend the Evenig or weekend time.

We are on a mission to go around Sri Lanka and pray for our nation's unity and well being among our ethnic groups, caste systems and all other divisions. The sign board at Point Pedro lifted our spirits which read "Unity in Diversity is the Strength of Sri Lanka"

This is the Nothern point of Srilanka. The other one is at Dondra in the south which is not demarcated exactly by the government. Corrupt down south politicians who are O/L failed, don't know the value of this. Thanks to the Nothern provincial council, it is beautifully demarcated and as a result it has become a tourist attraction both local and foreign.

My visit to Sakkotai Cape left me enchanted by the natural beauty and tranquility it offered. The cape's pristine coastline and panoramic views of the ocean created a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The scenic beauty, with the waves crashing against the rocks, painted a mesmerizing picture of nature's grandeur. The historical significance of Sakkotai Cape added depth to the experience, providing a glimpse into the rich heritage of the region. Exploring the ancient structures and remnants of the past was both educational and evocative. The ambiance was further enhanced by the calm sea breeze, making it an ideal spot for contemplation and relaxation. The well-maintained surroundings and cleanliness of the area showcased a commendable commitment to preserving its natural charm. While the lack of commercialization was a refreshing aspect, it's essential for visitors to be mindful of preserving the site's ecological balance. Sakkotai Cape stands as a hidden gem, offering a perfect retreat for those seeking a peaceful connection with nature and history. It's a place where time seems to slow down, allowing one to appreciate the beauty of the world around us.

Not a crowded place. Have a nice view there. But don’t expect much in here. You can stop by here to click few photos. No separate parking available here, but can manage to park by side of the road.

Sakkotei Cape in Point Pedro - At the very top of Srilanka, Sakkotei Cape rests as the northernmost point of the island in the neighbourhood of Point Pedro. An hour away from Jaffna City, Sakkotei Cape rests on a rocky coast at the perimeter of Point Pedro. A drive along the shallow shoreline will allow you to skirt the northern edge of Sri Lanka.

This is the most northern point in Sri Lanka. Located nearby a very beautiful coral beach. You can just park the vehicle nearby the road. Not much crowded. Few fishing boats can be seen nearby. A beautiful quote is written below the national flag. "Unity in Diversity is the strength of Sri Lanka"

It is the northernmost end of Sri Lanka. It is located in a fishery village of a northern coast. Road is narrow and currently under construction and there will be a delay of getting to the location.

Although the light house is at Point Pedro, Sakkotei Cape is the Northernmost point of the Island. This place is about a 10min drive from Point Pedro Lighthouse along the Northern Coast. Sunset time would be ideal to visit this place.

This is the north most point of Sri Lanka. You need pay little attention to find the entrance from the road because it's not very visible. The sign board also visible to the road only in one direction. Parking is only available by the sides of the road. The location itself is quite nice which is fully open to the sea. Surrounding sea has bit of shallow are where you can walk. Next to it is a small bay with a fishing community. The beach area is not very big and usually crowded with fishing boats.

The northernmost point in Sri Lanka. The sea near the beach is clean, clear and beautiful. Mostly Tamil Catholic people are living around this area. The day we have visited this place people were preparing an offering. You can walk some distance from beach towards the sea on the stoney sea surface .

This place is the Northend point in Sri Lanka. There is a small mark in this place noticing where you are and what is this. So many people visit this place to look the view in this Point. It's good to get a selfie. There is also a National Flag in there. This isn't a big place, you just can be happy like 'Yay we came to the North Point of Sri Lanka'

  • 3/5 Michael Rohan S. 4 years ago on Google
It is difficult to find the monument that marks the northernmost point of Sri Lanka and it's just located amongst fishing boats and fisher huts. There are no directional signs and we travelled east and west before we actually found the place. Even the people in the area didn't know about it. But we were lucky as a festival was being celebrated at that time and the people had erected a number of lovely structures out of empty plastic bottles.

It's the northernmost notch of Point Pedro of Sri Lanka. I really love the verse written in the board. It says "Unity in diversity is the strength of Sri Lanka ". You can visit on the way if you plan to visit Keerimalai from Point Pedro jetty.

This is the place where Sri Lanka's northernmost point is. It is very close to the main road and has easy access to the place. Fishermen's boats can see around and a playground.

Tip: Do a drive by and visit the place during evening around 5 (with the purple sky it’s the best pic you will ever take). You will be passing the northernmost railway station too. The northern most point of Sri Lanka. It’s not well lit at night so make sure to use phone lights or whatever you have. Not a long walking distance too from the car park. Surrounded by a fishing village make sure to support the locals by buying any !
