Very nice place to enjoy our life .Beautiful water to enjoy

It is the first Dam and hydro -Electric power station constructed by Damodar Valley Corporation across Barakar River, in Koderma district. The dam is 1200 ft long and 99 ft high situated in an ideal surrounding with a beautiful reservoir in 36 sq km area. Built with the main object of controlling floods, the hydro -electric station produces 4MW. The beautiful natural surroundings are the attraction to tourists. The main road from Barhi on G.T.road through reservoir and the hillocks is picturesque.

Good place to visit, boating is awesome, boats are available from small to double decker size. One of the DAM of Jharkhand, located just after tillaya sainik school. It is better to carry chips and other snacks items as food stuffs are costlier than MRP. ATM facilities is not readily available. Boating charges @ JAN 2020 - Motor boat -Rs. 100/- each and old diesel boat 50/- each.

Seen hundreds of birds arriving at this picturesque dam including Common Pochard, Tufted Duck and Bar-headed goose. Their arrival continues till January and they stay at this dam till April after which their return journey starts. You can easily rent a boat and have a beautiful boat ride along the shore and watch birds. Be careful not to move too close to the birds to not disturb them.

People from far off places throng this beauty studded place. They love the serene and placid environment that does the round here.

Plus points: 1. Beautiful location 2. All major amenities present 3. Police personnel present 4. Parking space 5. Can go for a picnic with cooking utensils 6. Roads in fairly good condition Minus points: 1. Dirty as any other place of Bihar-Jharkhand Appeal: If you visit this place, don't spread litter or garbage. There is no point in blaming the administration unless we change ourselves. Please realise that it is our natural heritage and only tourists are ruining the beauty of such a serene place.

This Dam is located approx. 55 km away from main town of Hazaribag. Good place to enjoy with friends and family. One can feel the beauty of nature there, bird's chirping and the sound of flowing water are enough to mesmerize anyone. One can also have enjoyment of boating there. It is good to visit this place when water level is high.

One of the scenic place to visit in Jharkhand. Nearest railway station is is Koderma Station and auto rickshaw are available Auto rickshaws are available however fare is bargainable. The place place to stay is at General Bhagat Guesthouse owned by DVC. You can enjoy boat ride here.

This is the very first Dam of Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) and part of the Multipurpose River Project on Damodar River by independent India. It is a concrete dam constructed over Barakar River (tributary of Damodar river) and Inaugurated by Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru on 21st February, 1953. The dam is surrounded by lash green forests and very popular tourist attraction for it scenic beauty. There are two hydro electric plants of 2 MW capacity each. The units are running successfully till date since commissioning. As the dam is run off river type, it depends upon the quantity of rainfall in this area. The electricity is generated during the months of June to February each year.
