(Translated by Google) When I was pregnant here invited by my husband, weve no intention to come here initially, I just wanted to walk, so our clothes were modest and we wear sandals, but we still tidy. Just coming in then the waiter sees us coming in like confused .. We should get a speech and ask for how many people, right? From the look on his face (what are you going to do), then without being told to sit, we are told to look at the menu first, it's crazy or not ... Hello, you don't know my husband can pay ... It's not polite to swear, I don't immediately want to eat, it's because my husband is hungry ... Then my husband wants to sit on the couch, because it's also quiet, right ... then we are directed to the 2nd floor, which is not a sofa ... I'm getting more and more bored, I'm giving a face to someone .. Then the husband ordered the most expensive menu, then there was someone else who wanted to be ordered ... wanted to say harsh but I was afraid to add sin, O God ... I have been here quite once, lazy there are still many mevvah restaurants that can appreciate natives. Brother and sister, just so you know ... many people dress in the style of rich people, but of course they are not as good as that ... And even if you just want to accept Caucasians, they should be written specifically in front of tourists! (Original) Waktu lagi hamil kesini diajak suami, emang ngga ada niat kesini awalnya hanya mau jalan jalan aja.. jadi pakaian kita seadannya dan kita pakai sendal tapi kita tetep rapih. Baru masuk terus pelayannya ngeliat kita masuk kaya bingung gitu.. Terus suami pesen menu paling mahal, baru deh adalagi adalagi yang mau dipesen... pengen berkata kasar tapi ak takut nambah dosa ya Allah..

A cafe where you can definitely feel the historical ambiance due to their design. It's a great place to cool down after a hot walk around the museums. The restaurant has 2 floors, if you want a great view go to the second floor. We had a quick indonesian breakfast, lontong sayur, with coffee and it was delicious. Only few things that we were quite disappointed, the service was slow, we got our food and drinks after 40 minutes and they way they charge double espresso, they charged us two times the espresso price, which made it very expensive. All and all I still would come back as they apologize for their slow service and we had an overall great experience.

The food here is incredibly average but I have to give four stars for the beautiful setting. All the clientele are tourists and the prices reflect that but it’s a safe bet for a meal when you’re not looking to roll the dice at a local restaurant. Note that a 20% tax will be added to your order. They also charge an additional 120IDR if you sit at a window table.

This cafe is pretty neat and has been established for quite some time. The materials of the interior is similar to a lot of rustic southern US restaurants with fusion of Spanish and Dutch colonial designs decorated with photos from the past when Jakarta was Batavia. We ordered mango mousse, es-teler-flavored cake, and truffle soup for around low 200k. The soup had the darkest acceptable coloration that I've seen of truffle soup so far and it tastes great; yet it can't top few other restaurants with better tasting truffle soup. The restaurant also has an assortment of cutely shaped and decorated desserts per wife's statement. The bathroom was a bit too dark as the color theme of its bathroom is dark too. Yet it's still kept in acceptable, sanitary condition. Here is a few photos taken during our visit on Idul Fitri holiday. Please note that eating outside predisposes you to begging cats hawking on you for food.

We were here during lunch time, quite full but there were still empty tables. The waitress told us it would take about 30' for food hence we only ordered drinks. Kids ordered some Oreo strawberry drinks they said they were creamy n nice. Avocado coffee was good. Probably in a fine dining level, most of the drinks costs >Rp 50k with taxes and service. The restaurant is clean, perhaps famous for its classic decoration with high windows and comfortable chairs. And walls mostly covered with photos of classic objects, unique or famous people all to the toilets walls although some of them are not for kids. The waiters were very courteous and nice offered help taking pictures and suggested nice spots.

A very history cafe situated within an art-deco colonial building. Amazing decor and atmosphere, you can travel back in time to experience the old Jakarta. A great hangout place. The food was decent, a bit expensive for what we got. The fried rice was way too oily. The drinks were awesome though.

Superb restaurant in an old quirky building. It has an air of sophistication and class. Loved the coffee, the experience of learning how to brew a good one and the taste of some local snacks. Thank you to Sofi and the rest of the crew. You made our day!

This is an establishment that one has to visit in Jakarta. Located in the historic Kota Tua, which can be a challenge to get to, but it will be worth your while. The menu is quite extensive and we ordered quite a bit. Safe to say, all the food were really good. The exceptional dishes were the bali duck, the grilled ribs and the tongue steak, it actually melts in your mouth. But the star was definitely the durian ketan, layers of heavenly gulitinous rice, durian curd and coconut cream, to die for. Not only the food were exquisite, the dining experience was also excellent. The decor would bring you to back in time and the serving staff were friendly and efficient. A dining experience not to be missed

We haven't finished our meals, but the waiter keeps asking to keep our plates.. felt like asking us to leave as soon as we finished our meals. Lotta people, but we dont have to wait. The services were fast. Meals served promptly, too. Other than that, the rest of the meals were pleasant. Food and drinks were great! Price + 10% services charges + 10% governance tax. Accepts card payment.

At the time of the visit (dinner), not too crowded. No waiting. We arrived sometime 6 and got seated immediately. I was told though that it is usually crowded in the restaurant and vicinity since it is a tourist spot. The taste of the food is good but not much that makes me remember it. The ambiance though is unique! At first I thought the frames are people in history connected to the place but it was just random photos. I liked the vintage vibes of the cafe. Was not able to get a peek of the second floor though. Had a good night here. The band played few english songs that we were able to relate. 😁

If you are coming to Kota Tua then you really must check out Cafe Batavia to step back in time. The building, decor and music have a wonderful nostalgic air and atmosphere. I really felt that I should have dressed in linen and donned a Panama hat while listening to the smooth orchestral swing of Glen Miller. The staff here are excellent and pleasant, dressed suitably for the style of the times. The food is fantastic and it was well worth the price. The bitterballen are delicious as were the sate. There are also plenty of cakes to enjoy. Looking out the windows from upstairs in the non smoking area is a real throwback to the Dutch colonial style. The only downside is that the music outside is so loud and the singing is awful which detracts from the atmosphere inside the Cafe unfortunately. The music could probably be a bit louder inside but again, you don't want it to ruin the atmosphere. It seems crazy to mention the men's toilet, but equally crazy not to mention it. Gents, you have to see this crazy and sensational toilet with the most fantastic urinal and flush that I've ever seen. Seriously. I fell in love with Cafe Batavia and wish that there was something similar in my own country!

The atmosphere is very inviting with high ceilings, lots and windows. Intended to be a charming, updated colonial feel, the rooms have lots to explore and ponder, including many dozens of vintage photographs. They serve cold beer in big pint mugs, something I appreciated, having arrived by bicycle through 20 kms of soupy heat. I adventurously ordered the beef rendang. Alas, it was too hot to handle. I like spicy things but this was over the charts! I threw in the towel on the rendang after one bite. I ordered the cheeseburger. It was very, very delicious. The service was good too. I loved everything about this place.

4/5 🌟. Restaurant with Dutch building interior and exterior design. Great place to hangout after walking nearby as the restaurant is air conditioned and serve foods with fair price. The ground floor of the restaurant is a smoking area, for non-smoking area will be on first floor which you get to enjoy the good view by the window which you can see people cycling and street performance around.

The cafe set up is something unique and different. There are lots of photo of 1980s and 1970s framed and hung over the wall which is one attraction. Next is, it has a good view of the Jakarta history museum. Everything looks photogenic and clean. The food is great with lovely staff.

Best cafe in town! Built right across the Dutch East Indies Governourskantoor in Jakarta old town. Say hello to the early 19th century ambiance once you enter the cafe, a real gem to visit and enjoy your time in here. It used to have this cool jazz live band on weekend nights (before covid), sipping a good drink with the music in this place is just amazing.

Interesting building where almost all areas in Jakarta have been modernized, Cafe Batavia stays original - colonial old building. It’s actually more like an art gallery where you can see many photos of important people in the world. The food was good and the staffs were very helpful. Expect the noise from children as parents are allowed to bring their children. Behind the photos are dessert menu so when they gave you one of the hanging photo it is actually the menu.

(Translated by Google) Cafe Batavia is located in the Old City Tourism Area of Jakarta. At that time, he deliberately went to his old city tour, tired of walking around, seeing old historical buildings like Kali Besar, Fatahillah Museum, Toko Merah etc. then stopped by this cafe after asking around people and seeing some reviews. This cafe has been built since the Dutch colonial era, so the atmosphere is very Vintage and Classic in Europe, very romantic and classy, feels right when we go inside. In front there is a kind of receptionist, similar to Bell Boy in Hotels, but yesterday it was a girl of 2 people to become Bell Girl, huh? There are 2 floors and all are spacious, Incidentally at that time sat on the second floor because of the intention of taking photos of the landscape outside. Western and Indonesian Food menu. Order Kopi Luwak (without White Coffee) and Fried Banana with Cheese + Ice Cream topping, for the price of all menus is fairly expensive and does not include restaurant taxes. But according to the quality, place and service obtained. The staff are really friendly and always smile! The toilet is also cool, there are many framed photos displayed there, so you can linger in the toilet, where are the cool photos again! Well, once in a while here, it's okay to just try it, as long as it's not often, it can break through the bag kecuali, unless you are a Sultan. Staff nya ramah banget and always smile!

Really nice café with a view on the main square. The staff is dressed in traditional clothes and the clientele is a mix of foreigners and locals. Prices are a bit higher than average but the food is really good. We had cakes (delicious!) and drinks (also really good!)

Food was tasty and was nice in display. But feel quite thirsty after the meal. The reason I rated 1 star is the staff service. One man in light color shirt who lead the seat was in terrible and very arrogant attitude. It was not nice experience since the beginning. Many waiters and waitresses in not-too-busy hours but it is hard to get their attention. A few female staffs were in standard service. We sat on second floor (non smoking area). Space was nice with square view. Come for a drink is ok but if you are in Asian face, be careful with lousy service attitude. From the staffs service, this place is more welcoming Westerners than Asians.

Great food and service. Being in a historic place is also a plus. One of the few places in Jakarta were a seat by the window is worth for observing city life - a lively pedestrian square with nice historic buildings. The music could had been better curated, or at least the CD should had been changed now and then. For the 2 hours we were there, we heard at least 5 times the same CD, on and on.

My friend and I visited Old Town one night and decided to dine here. It wasn't at all crowded. The first thing we were told was if we sat by the window we had to order a main course and drinks. We did. My pineapple juice was terrible because the fruit was unripe. I requested to change the drink to what my friend had, lemongrass tea. But they weren't pleased so (unlike my friends drink) mine came without sugar. We were disappointed that such a reputable establishment gave lousy service and attitude. Though the ambience was great and food was satisfactory, we regret eating here. They should train their staff who are highly complacent and entitled.

Our first time at Batavia Cafe and we loved it. Not acclimatised to the heat of Jakarta yet, so it was a welcome relief to be in the cool. Views over the square were very nice from our window table. The food was a culinary explosion of taste, colour and smell. Our server Yulia was very helpful and friendly. We will be back!

A beautifully decorated cafe. Full of pictures from famous people and artistic photos. Even the toilet was decorated as such. Ordered Nasi Goreng Roa and Nasi Campur Meener. Both were delicious. Nasi Goreng Roa was cooked nicely, I think there were some Japanese influence in it. Nasi Campur was OK. The beef was kinda too hard. The avocado coffee was nice, could use a little more coffee taste in it. Latte coffee ice was just OK. Services were good.

A restaurant that takes you back to the past with its elegant colonial-style design. The wooden interior, decor, lighting and the music are coherent and gave a wonderful experience when we were here. First floor is a smoking area while second floor is non-smoking. Spacious area, try to get the seats near the window for great view of the Jakarta History Museum too. Went for a coffee and pastry, the filter coffee was delightful and flavourful. Wonderful presentation too. Ordered the banana cake and it's soft, moist and not too sweet. Service staff were quick and attentive. Price is a bit expensive for Jakarta standard but I would come back because of the experience! Would recommend this for visitors and residents alike who wants to experience Dutch-style building.

It is an old colonial interior and ambience cafe with great service and nice food but also pricy at the same time specially for the beverages. They also provide various of alcoholic beverages. And they also have various of cake that suit your coffee or tea perfectly. This cafe is situated in Kota Lama area and one of the most iconic spot here. If you drive a car, the only choice is to use they valet service which cost 40K.

It’s like walking down a memory lane, all the antique wall pictures, architectural design of the cafe, and nice foods. Non smoking area (window seat) for 2 person, need to order 2 main dishes and 2 beverages. Tbh since i am an indonesian myself, the food is a bit overpriced. Nontheless, the vibes says it all

One of the best coffee spot in west Jakarta, classic venue, great gatsby feel automatically once you step in, they have nice looking kota tua governor building at second floor, bit overpriced for coffee but it’s worth it just to relax and spent day in touristic area, cyclist also welcome here including the menu. Please always wear your masks here!

I feel like you should try dine in at this place at least once because this place is amazingly old in a good way ! the 2nd floor is much more comfy with more spacious dining area and big windows facing the beautiful Jakarta Museum. the table setting and decor of the room will make your mind wonders of how dining in the old days used to be like. I wouldn't complain much about the price as their service, portion and taste are worth it.

My favorite is the calamansi! It is a tiny tart with lemon curd topped with meringue on top. This is a tasty dessert if you do not want a big cake. I do not really like the es teler cake because it contains too many avocado within. The situation and vibes of this restaurant send us back to the past because the interior reminds us of the colonial times. Despite the price being kinda pricey, I will definitely be back to get the calamansi again and try other main courses

Awesome place to dine. The best thing here is the ambience of the restaurant, invite us to have a long conversation. We can see museum fatahilah and the large yard in front of the restaurant. The furniture is set artistically. Using old furniture, it brings our memory to the colonial era. All food served are so delicious. They provide it in detail, quite worth with the price you buy. The price is quite expensive compared with other restaurant around Jakarta, but with the taste and experience you got, I think it's quite fair. Before you enter, you should scan your attendance using PeduliLindungi apps. By this, you can know how much visitor there. They apply social distancing and provide hand sanitizer in it. No need to worry with the covid protocol, since they comply for this. The problem is since pandemi, Jakarta old city is closed for visitor. To dine here, we should walk quite far from parking area to the restaurant. It will be better if we go using public transport, since we can stop not too far from the restaurant. In sum, this place is a great place to be visited and dine with family, spouse or our friends.

Amazing place when it comes to ambience and decor. Food left me a bit disappointed, I have ordered Rendang I was expecting tender juicy meat and I received dry and hard meat, just read on the internet that this is how it supposed to be according to the original recipe. Anyway recommend to anyone visiting Jakarta.

The employees were super kind, and loved the atmosphere of the cafe but there was one thing that caught my attention. Some of the tables along the window side at the second floor were not very clean. In general their food was great, reasonable price. A good place to take a rest during the trip in Jakarta.

One of the coolest, old school places in Jakarta! Recommend to try their bebek bakar (chargrilled duck) Signature cocktails are innovative, but try at your own volition. I tried the classic cocktails like South side, which was great (recommend get the less sweet version). If you like a place that has live music and is just classic in nature, do visit. They have two levels in the restaurant with the bottom section being smoking and with the live band setup. The top level is for families although has a massive, cool bar area.

5 for history and atmosphere, 3 for service and food. Historic old restaurant with great views for people watching. Most of our food tasted like it had been cooked hours ago and rewarmed. The peanut sauce was too sweet. Had to reorder drinks 3 times to get them. Go for the atmosphere, not for the food or service. Interestingly, the old neon sign was removed right outside our window, so I have included some photos of that process.

We came thinking and read previous reviews. Very very disappointing 😞 honestly I don't think any celebrity was ever in here, all pics were not authentic at all, none of them were even in the restaurant. Pics of celebrities from all over the world fabricated into frames and put on the walls, not even autographed by any of them. I not were why the fame except for the fact it's been there for a long time and foreigners are coming to it. They have a very strict rule, you can't sit next windows without ordering drinks and food each individual by force. We told them ok to do and requested little ice however all drinks came with extra ice!! They just don't listen! The chicken came very stiff and super fried where there is NO MEAT what so ever from the deep fry. Only the libester was descent however very Over priced for why they made. Nothing else comes with the plate. Do not recommend!

Its really good place to hang out with your love one ,. Cozy and compy ,. Esp upstair you could enjoy the outside view by the windows ,. Food was great and tasty ( but i hope sambal more spicier and less oily ) for the price it is a bit so so expensive for a food start at least 70k for course ,. Great service, amazing ambience - it’s a smoking lounge area on the lower floor and a bright spacious upper floor where you have a 180 view of the square the restaurant is facing. We ordered the salmon crossaint (uh best I’ve had) and a French burger which were both divine. Would 10/10 recommend this place for brunch. Also the salted caramel eclair and opera cake were to die for.

Gourmet standard dishes with traditional influences. Really enjoyed the priobiotic chicken with turmeric rice, and traditional ginger tea. I sat by the window and had have a slow lunch while taking in the view of the Kota tua/old town. Would give the last star if service was improved. Receptionist had a black face and food serving was slow.

Feel the sensation and feel the vibe of the old day, the history. While having a great meals , here in cafe batavia. So many great food and drink. And also you can experience travelling back in time when you enter this restaurant. When you are here, i recommend you to try the fisherman prawn. So delicious.

Cafe Batavia is part of Batavia old city colonial capital of Dutch East Indies. It is located opp the main square and surrounded with plenty of historical buildings. Cafe Batavia is constructed in colonial style and can be categorized as upscale to high class restaurant. It is a little pricey but food was excellent. Service was amazing, from welcome hostess to waiters and other staff. For me 5+ stars out of 5. Recommended.

Its a nice place to enjoy the old city of Jakarta. It is really recommended to eat near the window to get the atmosphere of the old city. The price is quiet inexpensive but to have those experiences I think it is really needed to try. An Amazing restourant for me

A nice 2-storey cafe to have cup of coffee or simple meal or even a cold beer after a visit to the museum. It’s has a colonial interior and soothing ambiance. Remember to ask for a table on the upper floor where you can get to see the aerial view of the museum square. The staff is friendly, some of them speaks English. During the pandemic time, their menu is available through a QR code which is a good thing instead of the physical menu. Our only qualms is that most imported brand of beers are out of stocks when we were there for a lunch. Most cakes are also not available. Price is decent. Food is fairly good.

The food here only merits 2 or maybe 3 stars, especially given the overall quality of food available in Jakarta. However, the fabulous interior, friendly staff, convenient location (for tourists) and splendid views over the square elevate the whole experience firmly to 5 stars and a borderline "must do" experience.
