Place is easy to find but the museum itself is tucked in what seems to be an office building. The museum is clean, health protocol is applied, and the space is serene and quiet and just nice to enjoy arts in. Unfortunately, there weren't a lot of art pieces showcased when we came and there was a lot of unused and empty corners/spaces that could've been used for more art pieces. Some areas aren't quite well-lit too making the gorgeous art look sadly unnoticeable or easily forgettable by patrons. But it was a nice experience regardless. Would love to visit regularly once they add more collection into it. Oh and the souvenirs shop is nice too! A lot of affordable knick knacks to bring home.

it was so good, somewhat inspiring for me. art has always deep meaning and it’s so aesthetically pleasing. this time is all about the voices, what’s the reason that can motivates someone and to express thought from someone that maybe can’t be accepted easily and then making an art to express it. it’s really a good concept btw

This place was MAGNIFICENT!! There's a lot of amazing paintings and installations with deep meanings. This place is also huge and comfortable, so don't worry, you'll enjoy your time in here. You can also take a lot of amazing picture in here. But always remember to read the rules in some room, because there's some room where you CAN'T take a picture. And yes! This place is 100% recommended to spending times with friends and families!

Love that this museum opted for cashless payment, from purchase the tickets to entering the museum went smoothly, so convenient 👌🏻💯 Various art collections, from paintings to objects display. You can easily find discounted admission tickets deals online. The museum located within the complex area, quite difficult for grab driver to pick you up

first time visiting instalation art museum, museum date with my bestie hahah. impressed with the instalation art and with the story behind it. I like it all but the thinks that bother me is the staff is just stand there sometimes distract when we wanna take a pict or video, also no clear guideline do and dont inside, like we not allowed to sit or touch or leaning so we when we aleeady pose suddenly the staff come and ask us to just stand there 🫠

Braced myself through peak hour traffic (and haze) on a bike just to get here an hour before closing -- a decision completely worthwhile. Provocatively curated, each piece tells a compelling story from scandals that shook the world to social and individual expressions close to heart. I was thoroughly impressed. The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Nusantara speaks to the mind and the heart. Highly recommended.

Museum right now is very interesting to visit. You can bring friends, family, and spending 2-4 hour just to see various art, various style and form and also you can read the info from the art and get the meaning behind of the process and idea Some say that the art is going to replaced and rotated after 4 months with several art that owned by the museum, and the other from artists. The last time i know, the price is 35k and if you show your student card you can get discount. The place is up in the second floor and there's a food store under. It is interesting to see place like this and i hope there will be more of it in Jakarta and other city

Except for all the guards who frantically kept an eye for us to wear our masks after taking a photo, I think the museum itself is very well-curated. The layout and explanation of the works are well-arranged, I was really assisted with the kid guide lol because sometimes the description about the works are too circuitous. It also has the most classic arts, along with the contemporary ones. That makes the experience wholesome because the ticket is pricey. Recommended! (Except for the guards hahaha)

This is my honest review about this place that i visited about a year ago, so please respect my review/experienced. I've came here once and all i remember was only bad services. The officers were too mean. Every time i took a photo, the officer stared at me and told me not to do this or that (too much strict rules) and i saw that the officer binged so nice only with visitors that have camera and looked rich. I think this should not be a museum, this should be a "gallery". When they told me that they only gave 30 seconds in infinity room it got me shocked, and my friend mom was not take a picture yet and there were no one except us in the queue. Kinda waste my time also my money. I could not remember anything except bad services and strict rules! i would never recommend this place to my friends/family. thanks

Nice place to visit. Located on AKR Tower, West Jakarta. Perfect for me time and healing session. My favorite one is the multiverse kaleidoscope that can turn your photo as a unique photo and also The Tales of Nowhere with its fable story behind.

the place is good, clean and nice, just feels a lil bit empty. my photos almost cover all the instalation at my time coming (feb 2022). Also, very easy to buy the ticket(s) in advance, check their IG for regularly information. if you used motorcycle, you had to park on different building not main building (the entrance is different). Overall is ok, the two hour time seems a lil too fast when you take your time to appreciate each art slowly.

A great place to visit on a rainy day in Jakarta! The museum is not very well marked from outside on the street, it’s in an apartment building, but once you know that, it’s easy to find. They even have parking and a Starbucks on the ground floor. The museum itself is a floor and a half - rather spacious rooms and large exhibits. They even have a special room for kids to paint, throw chalk and generally go nuts! It looked like fun, except me kids weren’t with me today. The exhibits were great, certainly worth a visit (Although locals beware, entrance fees are higher than most, at 100k IDR each for adults.)

Lovely place. Modern art with deep and relatable emotions being depicted on each and every piece. There's air conditioning and lots of places to sit down on. The museum changes its topic/contents every sometimes, so it is always fresh to see. Extraordinary place. Loved it.

Museum macan is one of the most modern museums in town. Make sure not going in the weekend or public holiday, might be crowded. Prefer go for weekdays, you can enjoy the art without getting in hurry and distracted by other people. Spacious place. Good staff, helpful if we needed. Recommend to buy tickets online in advance. Perfect for museum dates or spend time with family and friends.

Loving Museum Macan with its cleanliness and well organized art works. Proud of the Museum to be able to maintain its quality of service. When we went there, it was the art work of Voice Against Reasons and it is just right to visit and learn from the artists about their art who speak a lot of beauty and voices. We can’t wait to visit it again next year! (With different artists and art work)

it was an amazing experience! Especially for me who hasn't seen so much art like this. It was a good introduction to me, and I love the symbolic meaning and the uniqueness the artist created in his work. Thank you!

We visited the Museum Macan ( Tiger Museum), a non-profit museum with contemporary art themes. This museum is located in AKR Tower, Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta. For now, the museum presents contemporary art from three Asian artists namely Arahmaiani, Lee Mingwei, and On Kawara. Everything is displayed in the showroom on the 5th floor. Besides the three names mentioned above, here are also exhibited works of art from the Pop and Beyond museum collection which presents the works of famous figures from Pop Art such as Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, James Rosenquist, and Robert Rauschenberg all of which are exhibited in the 6th floor showroom There is also a museum restaurant provided by One Fifteenth in the outer corner of the 5th floor showroom for visitors who want to unwind after walking around to see the museum exhibition. In addition, on the 5th floor there are also souvenirs shop if museum visitors want to buy memorabilia of the museum. On each floor, both on the 5th and 6th floors there are clean and fragrant toilets, there are also special toilets for people with disabilities and space for breastfeeding. Somewhat different from most other museums, in this museum there are quite a lot of rules that apply here. For shooting not allowed to use a DLSR camera or camera, all cameras are prohibited from entering and must be deposited in a daycare. Shooting can only use a mobile camera and is prohibited from using flash / flash. Some exhibition points are prohibited for taking pictures. For backpacks and large bags it is forbidden to be brought in so they must be deposited in the storage room. Bags that are allowed to enter are also still being checked because they are prohibited from bringing food or drinks into the showroom. Walking must be slow and may not be noisy / noisy. It should not be too close to the exhibition panel let alone touch it. You can't lean against the wall. Every corner and edge of the show line, there are security officers and exhibition employees who are quick to reprimand if there are visitors who violate the provisions of the showroom. So besides enjoying the exhibition, visitors should always maintain self-control so as not to violate the provisions and not be reprimanded nor expelled from the exhibition room. #letsguide #letsguides #localguidesconnect #googlelocalguides #googlemaps

    - The Best Museum i've ever visited - So many beautiful exhibition from famous artists that you can see here. - The price is quite expensive, but it's worth it with the experience - The rules is quite strict. From my experience, The staff gives you a few minutes to take some photos and enjoy the collections in some of the certain's rooms, some of them aren't allowed to take a photo/record the video, and don't touch the collections. But, it makes a sense due the room's space and keep the collections are undamaged. - The staff is helpful and kind, but they are a little bit strict and empathic. But, i don't mind as i understand what they job they have to do. - If you're interested. Make sure to check your schedule. Because the Exhibition might be change, make sure you don't miss the exhibition that you want to see

Beautiful museum with so many captivating exhibits! I love how this museum is kid-friendly too! They have descriptions of the art work that are thought provoking even for young children. The gift store showcases local artists and there is a yummy coffee shop inside. Another beautiful touch is how they have a creation zone, inspired by the exhibits (meaning it changes from time to time!). The museum was not crowded even when I visited during the weekend. I recommend buying tickets online!

One of the only art gallery in Jakarta with consistently new and inspiring modern art. The space is located in an unassuming office building, modern and well maintained. The ticket prices are fair. I highly ecommend to see their schedule and come to see each installments as they roll out.

(Translated by Google) The perfect place for you, the museum lover. Apart from his interesting works, the place is also clean and comfortable. Apart from having a look at this art museum, you can also feel the 'interaction' with the work itself. For example, in an infinity room you have to enter a small room to be able to feel the experience of being among the neon colored lights that bounce on the glass, that's cool. For those of you who are still young, there is also a kids space where you can play with watercolors! Is it really exciting? You can leave your work here. For adults, just scribble using crayons. Besides that, this place also sells souvenirs and other cute items. From clothes to essential oils!

A bit hard to find the exact place cause it located inside company’s tower. I buy the ticket online, cause they suggest to do so, but when i came on time (12 pm), no queue even its in satuday. We entered the museum then got 1 voucher per pax value 10k to redeem in the souvenir shop. The ambience inside felt like modern museum as stated in their name. Every art has the description, but some of them have different area of description (idk why they do this). I like all the collection, but suggest to have more collection there, cause i feel not really satisfied to walk around only a bit collection. Plus in the meantime i have no attraction there. When we visited the souvenir shop, nothing value 10k, we only found 20k of pencil. I suggest to have more affordable price for the souvenir. Plus they have one andy warhol’s collection

An art exhibition place with different centerpiece each season. Located in AKR building that as of today only has Lawson and Starbucks in the ground floor. They also have place to eat inside with limited option of drink and one choice of cake only. They sell interesting souvenirs with overrated prices. You can not take your backpack inside, but they have safekeepings. Inside the museum there will be more warnings on what not to do so I guess if you have small active children, this place might not be right for you.

this was a very disappointing experience. whoever did the installation for ALL the artworks doesn’t pay respect at all to the artists because the lighting was so dim that i had to look at the artworks through my camera phone. i’m quite upset because the works were amazing but we got quite fatigue after because we had to force open our eyes each time to see the work. especially those works that had intricate details. the artworks’ text description provided for the kids were so low and with the low light, no kids would pay any attention to it neither they can read it properly. such a stark contrast from the 2019 installation.

The place was great, the staff very friendly and helpful but the rule is make no sense. There is 1 area called infinity room where u only have 30 second inside. I truly understand this. But when i was inside the crowd was none after me and also the environment at that time was quiet. Still the staff ask me to go out and move around the long empty queue. It's ridiculous. There no one there. Why should i walk around the long line?? Should be more flexible. From happy mood drop to disappointed

My gratitude to Museum Macan is beyond words. Thank you for keep presenting new dimensions for us, Indonesians. The only museum you'll find interactive for any ages, presenting education - entertainment - enlightenment - in a very comfortable systemic sanctuary. Plus, it is very neat and clean. A benchmark for other museums in Jakarta, at least.

This place was an eye opening to me that an art museum could be like this! So far I've been to numerous historical museums and one fine arts&ceramics museum in Jakarta and DIY and they were all not that good because of lack of fun guides who are really into the objects the museums exhibited. Will go here in the next exhibition!!

  • 3/5 Steve J. 4 years ago on Google
Finally having this kind of Museum in the city!! It’s very good place. But i think they need to re-layouting/re-organizing the space and put more signage. Its quite confusing for people to quickly understand where to go, which one need to show your ticket, etc. My recommendation is they separated clearly which one is paid/ticketed area, and which one is public. But, usually if a visitor already enter to paid area, visitor doesn’t need to be recheck or asked again for their ticket/stamp.

This is my 4th visit and I always love to see the exhibition at Museum MACAN. Their exhibition on Melati Suryodarmo "Why Let The Chicken Run?" and Julian Rosefeldt "Manifesto" might be my most favorite one. The art performance was awesome. The location is quiet far from the city but it's worth to visit if you are into art or modern art.

It's a very commercial modern art museum. Consists of two levels with coffee shop and souvenir store inside. Despite being two level, the gallery itself is not big IMO. You will need an hour or two to see the whole collection

Definitely taking Indonesian museums into another level. It sets the bar high. Very well layout (similar to the ones you can find abroad), makes it a new plus educative place to visit during weekend rather than shopping mall. Would recommend weekdays if you want to visit infinity room. Must visit place while you are in Jakarta.

A huge step up from any museum in Indonesia. The Macan is a modern museum of international standards at a very affordable rate. Kudos to the foundation behind this project. I hope to see more exhibitions in the future.

Good place for those who like arts or people who like to take a selfie. Other than art lover, this place also suitable for children to learn about art, especially contemporary art. In most of the paintings and sculptures, there are 2 explanations, the general description and the explanation for kids that use lighter and more interactive words. This museum has the collection of art from earlier time to modern time, which showed how arts are changing over time. As this museum is mainly focused on contemporary art, some people will not find the paintings and sculptures are visually satisfying or meaningful. So, people with this opinion may see this museum as the place only for taking pictures. The placement of the paintings for the visitor to see are a little bit messy. For example, when you enter the museum, you can go to the right to see the mirror arts, go left to watch a video, or go straight to see the painting. So, at some point, the visitors may think where to go as there are so many ways to go. But, overall, I like this place and recommend people to come here.

The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Nusantara. Have been waiting for years for a good modern museum in Jakarta. They feature works from legendary artists, the recent exhibitions are from Yayoi Kusama and XuBing. They had one infinity mirror room by Yayoi Kusama which was awesome(which is now a permanent display in the museum). There is only 2 floors of exhibition and it will cost you 100,000 RP for entrance. Opens form 10am till 2pm but if you leave the museum after 2pm and go around, you are not allowed inside anymore. They also have a cool Gift Shop which sells interesting clothing, bags and other souvenirs that can ONLY be found in this shop. Staff are nice and you can ask them questions and some of them can speak English very well. Cameras are not allowed in the museum, these include SLR & Polaroid. No Flash Photography, no tripods, selfie sticks or monopods.

It was quite an exceptional experience. My first ever visit to a modern art museum. I got to enter using a student promo code which cuts the normal price by half.

Whoa it really changed since I came 3 years ago during the yayoi kusama’s exhibition. This season featured melati suryodarmo. I spent my time in the museum for 45minutes because the exhibition arts was not as many like the yayoi kusama’s, but I think because of that there were less visitors. The museum followed health protocol so don’t worry, they have some interactive exhibition too you might wanna check out. I also paid Rp90k since it’s 10% off during weekend.

For those who seeks arts it's worth to see. But for me who didn't have much interest cannot get any satisfaction seeing a lot of art. Especially when the ticket price is expensive compared to enjoyment I experience. Anyway, in term of place it is strategic, clean, well designed.

  • 5/5 Inez V. 2 years ago on Google
First time here after PPKM. A nice small museum, there's not much to see but it's still nice to experience some art. Clean and spacious, ticket price is moderate too. Although the museum isn't very big but still there's quite a lot to see and learn.

The museum is big but the collection are not many. It has interactive artwork but that it is. Most artworks are paintings. I recognised one of Niki's artworks because it is very significant, it reminds me of the one that I saw in Zurich's train station.

This is honestly one of my favorite places to go to in Jakarta. The exhibition changes from time to time, so check their instagram and website for more information and for downloadable content like kids activities and various artists’ booklets. Museum MACAN is suitable for all ages, but their featured artists do sometimes produce art with difficult themes for children under 12 years old to understand. Parents, please do your research beforehand as some artworks may scare younger audiences. Most of the artworks here can be photographed but there are some with photography restrictions. Lookout for the signs are you will be fine. It is prohibited to bring large bags and large cameras, so only bring the essentials, like your phone. Parking space is available here and ticketing can be done both online and offline. Please note that offline tickets are limited due to the pandemic, so it’s better to order your tickets online.

If you like to go to a place that gives different vibes, you should go here, especially if you're an art lover. Or if you want to find a place that can stimulate your mind and senses, can make your soul tremble. Well...if you're not an art lover, you can go here to take instagamable photos (depending on the theme). Can't bring food and drinks inside, but there's Common Grounds (coffee shop).

The best modern art museum visit in Indonesia, the artist is mostly well known and popular with distinctive meaning yet pleasing the eyes and mind. Time suddenly goes slower while we enjoying every art installation, feeling the pain, happines, joy and the message as well. The location is strategic and the place is very modern with entrance fee is moderate

  • 5/5 Miko Andriano K. 9 months ago on Google
Went to the “Disini, d.l.l.” exhibition. There are collections of paintings before and after the Independence of Indonesia, and other artpieces portraying minorities. My favorite piece is the one by FX Harsono right in the middle of the museum, it captures the feel of being silenced from being a different race than the majority. Ticket fee is dirt cheap on 25k IDR. Ill definitely visit again if there are new exhibitions and collections.

  • 5/5 vida s. 1 year ago on Google
always have wonderful exhibitions . Make sure you check their exhibition schedules before going. You wanna avoid coming during their installation time. Note : you might find more people taking selfies rather than enjoying the artworks tho… but all the stuff are worth the wait!

  • 4/5 Maura Marda M. 1 year ago on Google
Came here for the Xu Bing's exhibition. Tickets can be bought in advance by online apps but are quite expensive considering the amount of experience we got inside. A good place to hang with museum buddies, though it was more like an art show. Staffs are very attentive.

  • 3/5 Fikma K. 10 months ago on Google
Since I don't have any knowledge about art, it's a bit boring for me as a normies. Took 5 minutes more for scanning the ticket, a bit crowded at the Ghost Nets exhibition. I suggest you not to come when it's free htm 😂 But overall I enjoyed, love the ambience 💛

I would say house museum macan was overrated. I thought it was a big exhibition with a lot of art collections. It turned out only one small room with hundreds of people waiting to come in. Maybe it’s better to wait until their main collections are ready to be shown again, rather than come to their open house

My first visit was for Shiota-san's exhibition. Naturally, it's a comfortable place with providing facilities. Cafes, konbini, toilets (everywhere), deposit counter, local goods and souvenirs store, and a prayer room. (Probably more I have yet to explore) Exhibition staffs are very friendly and professional. They know the drill. We can also leave the building and come back later so long we've checked in. I love the local goods store! I didn't know we have that much exquisite, high quality products. Some of them are affordable (worth the price), some of them are too expensive for me. But I hope it all may thrive!

Great museum at West Jakarta. Right now they’re displaying the work from Japanese artist, Chiharu Shiota (her work will be displayed until 30 April 2023). Compared to my last visit here, the art work on display aren’t as much as the previous one. Ticket price for student is Rp45.000 and Rp70.000 for general visitor. One thing they need to fix is the access from car park area to the museum. It was lack of clear guidance and elevator access. Some parking spaces close to the museum lobby are reserved only for the apartment resident.

  • 5/5 Aisha S. 8 months ago on Google
The price is quite affordable, for adults it costs 100rb, 90rb for students and the elderly, and 80rb for children. However, they like to have discounts (30% on weekdays and 10% on weekends). The place is comfortable, spacious, and well-maintained. Every few months they have a different exhibition. You can see the updates on Instagram @museummacan, but unfortunately, it's really hard to get an answer if you have a question about their exhibition, no one answers the comments/direct messages.

Art museums can be as dusty as an abandoned mansion, as boring as the same mansion 20 years later, or as fascinating as the same mansion 2000 years later. It's all about the curation and management. Both are spot on here. Talks, performances and well presented spaces with terrific choices and fabulous descriptions for boffins and babies. Go there, learn something, grow somewhat, and live different with an open mind.

  • 5/5 eva p. 6 months ago on Google

really empty and is full with beautiful art. would recommend reserving and paying online before coming. would also like to highlight the way they account children with an easier explanation and kids area. there is also a cafe so that you can get some coffee after going to the exhibition.
