Appalling ! big cockroach in the room at night and bugs in the bed. Guy at the desk send an assistant to spray all over !! didn't want / could change my room and had to sleep back in the same room.. First time it happens to me that bad.. Usually at least they try to change your room and apologize... none of that happens . What's more, super noisy place (indoor) Not much to add but unless you consider bugs as pets, don't pay a visit

They refused my booking which was paid for. They were saying the hotel/hostel was full. I traveled to many countries in Southeast Asia I never had a problem like this. I never recommend this hotel/hostel for backpackers.

Packer Lodge in Jakarta was fab!!! We were pleasantly surprised upon arrival as the whole place was so clean, the private AC room was spacious, comfortable with super clean and comfy bedding, staff are super friendly helpful. Plus their communication was great, i whatsapped them to let them know we would be arriving late and they responded straight away. There is a small workout room, 2x kitchens, a foosball table, TV and chill room, so the hostel is well equipped. Wifi is really good too. PS, the coffee is strainer coffee, not instant (maybe get instant or advertise it’s strainer coffee 😆) loads of us made the mistake of thinking it was instant! Location is good as there is a couple things to do nearby, however the main town is 30 minute drive away, slightly annoying as to get a SIM card you HAVE to go to Grapari Telkomsel, which is 30 min taxi away. (To bare in mind if coming to Jakarta as first stop) Overall a REALLY good couple nights in this hostel. Thanks Packer Lodge 👌🏼

Nice little place to stay Rooms: -------------------- ~ Spacious, comfy bed with light and outlets ~ Locker with key provided ~ Not much room for anything other than the beds ~ A/C and fans provided ~ A strange sliding door between 2 beds, feels like an odd design, could make people uncomfortable. Nice beds but not much room for anything else -------------------- Layout/Facilities: ~ Several common areas ~ TV room with lots of space ~ Gym (rowing machine, lifting bench, but floors hard so no floor exercises ~ Nice kitchen with fridge and clean water ~ Cute cats to stroke, all friendly 😆 ~ Wifi is a bit bad, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, could make digital nomad work difficult -------------------- Service: ~ Lovely staff, very helpful and quick to check us in Atmosphere: ~ Could be very social in the higher seasons ~ Nice backpack vibe with walls covered in drawings and statements from other travellers. -------------------- Overall a great place

Stayed in the 4 bed deluxe dorms which were very cheap and comfortable. I did have a weird experience with a sliding door that looks into the opposite pod. It was not locked and I thought it was storage space, so slid it open at 10pm to be greeted by my German neighbour. Fortunately we had a laugh about it, but it could’ve been very different with another guest (see video) Before I came I saw a lot of reviews regarding the WiFi which is advertised online. My experience is as below: Bedrooms - doesn’t work Ground floor - doesn’t work 1st floor - works 2nd floor - works 3rd floor - rarely works

The owner Ardy knows a lot about Indonesia, so this is the best place to start your journey in Indonesia. Very cozy and I found many devices for travelers to make friends with others. And there's a small gym for workout, too. There are a supermarket, a local store, and some convenient stores nearby. I'm sure I wouldn't have enjoyed spending time in Jakarta this much if I didn't stay here.

I'm very suspicious of the number of glowing reviews for this place. It's a pretty firm "decent." It's clean and nicely decorated. Walls are super thin and no one seems to be around to shut up drunk backpackers as midnight rolls around. The internet is horrendous. In 4 days here, I don't think I was able to maintain a connection for more than 10 minutes. Location is pretty far from anything resembling a city center (despite what a couple of reviews to the contrary claim). Private room was absolutely tiny. Had to go to another floor for a bathroom.

I rented a night (transit) of deluxe single private en-suite under 150k and it was surprisingly great. I can't complain, the room was clean, the bed was cozy, the water heater worked perfectly, everything was good. Friendly staff, good location. Recommended! Thank you to the staff for being so helpful 🙏🏽

Great place for first stop in Indonesia. The lady at the desk was amazing, couldn’t help you enough. Room was good price for a private room with en-suite. Would recommend.

Super clean! We just had some issues with our laundry. They first told us regular laundry would be 24 hours, we said fine but then they said it wouldnt be done in 24 hours so we had to pay extra for express. The Laundry was brought to our room and smelled so intense like parfume that we couldnt tell if it was washed or just sprayed with prafume. Also there were many black stains :( couple of days later, my backpack still smells sooo intense, I always get a headache when wearing a new T-Shirt :(

First impression : room is clean and smells good. They provided towel and liquid soap (unfortunately, the bottle pump didn't work, but no prob, I had my own toiletries). For me who stayed for 6 nights, my room floor and bed sheet were getting dusty, but they didn't provide daily room cleaning. Hope you consider room cleaning for guest who stay for more 3 nights. Thank you Note : make sure you book room via Traveloka or their own website.

They have a gym! It’s very sweaty but good effort, I haven’t been to a hostel with a gym. Rooms are very comfortable, you can get food and coffee for 18k, awesome :)

The place is is a great location in Jakarta. Very close to the Old Town. There are shops, malls, a bus station nearby. We took a twin room which was super tiny. If you unpack, there's literally no place to stand. No window in the room. No door to the bathroom, just a curtain, which might be an issue for "shy" people. We mainly chose this place as it offered breakfast. It was good, but nothing major - toasts and some fruit. The staff, however, is very nice and helpful. You could get better conditions for this price, but without brekkie.

A really great hostel. Staff are super helpful and it has great facilities including a gym, chill out area and kitchen .The location is near museums but not that close to modern parts of Jakarta and shopping malls.

I stayed for 3 nights in the packers Lodge and had a great time! Especially the service was amazing! The host of the hostel gave a food tour and didn’t want to except tips, when we inisisted to give tips he put it in the jar of tips for his employees! He also drove me around in his car to show me the city and dropped me of at a sim card store also completely free! He did all these things just to have personal contact with the guests in a very giving and not self consuming way! Very special! Thanks for the wonderfully stay !!!!

Very underrated. Comfy. Worth the price. You will feel like home staying here.

Good for the price, quite lacking if you expect a "full hotel experience". Extremely recommended to book directly through their website or on the counter instead of through third party website.

I've been staying at the Packer Lodge for about a week now, and I've had SUCH a lovely stay 😍 On the very first day me and a little handful of fellow hostel dwellers were met by the owner, Ardy, who took us on a mouthwatering food tour in Chinatown. He also spent the next morning helping us all get local sim cards. The other staff at the hostel have been so friendly and helpful as well. I immediately felt that the place had a really friendly and welcoming atmosphere 😌 It's also the very first hostel I've ever been at that has a gym, which is pretty cool. Would warmly recommend the Packer Lodge to anyone coming to Jakarta ❤️

Service was great, room was clean and modern. Hostel had a very cool vibe, nice decor. Bed comes with a towel and there's free clean water. There's a locked storage room for bags of you need it. Friendly staff. Good food 30 seconds walk from the hostel and open very late. Breakfast was a bit sparse but it seems standard for Indonesia so far. Would absolutely stay again. No question.

An amazing hostel. A bit compact but that is compensated by the big heart of the staff. They are so helpful and friendly. There is a common kitchen and the rooms are super clean.. would love to come again.

This place is brand new, spotless, has great character and a very modern feel. I had the honor of being the very first customer which was a bit sad as I was the only guest and did not get to see this place as the chilled out social backpacker hangout I know it will be soon. Rooms are amazingly spacious for cubbie styled sleeping, very nice mattresses, hot shower and good security. Probably one of the best hostels I have stayed in. They have thought of everything that a good hostel should and could have. These guys really put in a lot of effort and are extremely helpful and kind. Feels more like a hotel but with charm, what a bargain.

It is clean, neat and nice. It is also close to the Jakarta Old City. The staffs are good. Great place to stay. You have to try once at least

Location was okay, there can be better or easier access to the port/old Town. Rooms were clean. I was the only person in the dorm but I did meet other people in the hostel. Free water and nice design.

I landed late at the airport and the packer lodge was open. Once I arrived check in was smooth and the friendly staff showed me to my room and made sure I had all I needed. The room was straight forward, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was decent sized! They had about 4 stories of amenities, including a gym and garden. I woke up in the morning and another staff member helped me figure out how to travel around to my desired destinations, she spoke very good English which was amazing because of my language barrier. Lastly but far from least was the impression Ardy left on me. He introduced himself to me and struck up a conversation. He was so knowledgeable and helpful with anything you could think of in Indonesia. He explained to me some of the best ways to get around and see Indonesia, citing incredible destinations and really simplifying logistics. I read for days on the internet, and he taught me more in a 20 minute conversation. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Find Ardy- he’ll probably reach out to you first, and you’ll be in good hands! Thank you packer lodge.

I love the clean and comfy rooms of the Packer Lodge, as well their strategic location near Kota Lama and Petak Sembilan

Pluses - Good location, everything was very clean, breakfast was good for the price, showers were very hot with good water pressure! Sink in the room was a nice touch, and the AC was great! Minuses - The walls are somehow thin enough that you can hear people hanging out in the lounge area at night but thick enough that wifi doesn't travel through them... We couldn't connect to wifi in our room. I think that as a hostel in a shared dorm room, this place would have been great, but we had a private room so it was very tiny, and just so so.

From the moment you walk into this place you feel welcomed. Ardy is a fantastic owner and really cares about his business and most importantly, his guest! I've been back to Packer Lodge on two different occasions and will continue going there when I am in Jakarta. Location is great, close to Chinatown, the facility offers a simple gym for those of you who like to workout while traveling, they are now offering food (which I hear is great) and the food tour Ardy offers is great! Highly recommend!

really don't recommend staying at this place, BECAUSE THERE IS NO WIFI IN THE ROOMS, THE AC IS HOT AND THE RECEPTIONIST IS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL, VERY AMATEUR

  • 5/5 Pieter v. 1 year ago on Google
We stayed at the hostel for 3 nights in the double room, which was very clean and had a private bathroom. During the stay we joined a food tour from Ardi, which was so nice and interesting! Ardi helped us out with a lot of things and could tell us a lot about Jakarta. The hostel has nice common rooms with good WiFi. We would definitely recommend staying in this hostel, as the staff is really friendly and we met some great people!
