We
originally
booked
Bergendal
for
our
wedding
and
sent
the
deposit
in
Feb
2022
but
decided
to
cancel
due
to
the
ongoing
issues
we
experienced
with
Hakan
Holmgren
(Event
Manager).
Where
to
begin…it’s
difficult
to
know
whether
the
problems
were
caused
by
incompetence
or
outright
lying
and
deceit,
either
way
it
is
the
opposite
experience
you
expect
from
a
wedding
venue.
On
our
first
visit
Hakan
said
we
could
have
private
access
to
Herrgarden
and
Falkberget
(if
we
pay
for
both
areas
-
which
we
agreed
to),
a
completely
flexible
menu
and
could
bring
an
external
food
truck
for
the
evening
snack.
Soon
afterwards
the
inconsistencies
began
when
we
were
told
that
the
food
truck
would
not
be
allowed
and
9
months
later
we
scheduled
a
planning
meeting
(where
Hakan
decided
to
not
show
up
and
instead
we
spoke
to
the
Restaurant
Manager)
where
we
discovered
that
Herrgarden
would
look
like
a
building
site
because
of
roof
renovations
for
all
of
July
2023
(our
wedding
was
15
July)
which
Bergendal
had
known
about
for
a
long
time
but
had
neglected
to
inform
us,
the
Manor
House
would
also
be
open
to
the
public
for
A
La
Carte,
the
food
was
not
flexible
and
we
would
instead
choose
from
a
selection
of
options
and
any
further
changes
would
be
charged
accordingly.
To
‘compensate’
us
for
the
problems,
Bergendal
agreed
that
we
would
not
pay
for
Herrgarden
hire…which
is
not
compensation
in
any
form
because
they
admitted
that
they
were
never
meant
to
rent
this
area
out
during
July
in
the
first
place.
Bergendal
aims
to
make
as
much
money
as
possible,
understandable
-
they
are
a
business
of
course.
However
they
take
this
to
the
extreme,
we
wanted
to
serve
a
cake
to
feed
60
people
even
though
our
total
guest
count
was
100
because
we
know
that
not
everyone
wants
extra
dessert
at
the
end
of
the
night
so
we
did
not
want
to
waste
food
or
money.
It
became
a
surprisingly
difficult
conversation
with
Hakan
to
convince
him
that
we
should
therefore
pay
less
for
the
cake
serving
fee
(fee
x
60
pers
instead
of
fee
x
100
pers),
even
though
there
is
less
time
to
serve
the
cake,
less
washing,
less
storage
space
etc).
Eventually
he
agreed
that
we
would
pay
a
serving
fee
for
60
pers,
but
this
was
an
exhausting
exchange
of
emails
which
should
not
have
been
an
issue
in
the
first
place.
It
is
also
worth
noting
that
there
are
additional
costs
associated
with
everything
you
could
imagine,
storage
space,
electricity
connection
outside,
moving
furniture
pre-event
etc.
We
are
aware
that
this
is
common
with
the
wedding
industry
but
we
really
felt
that
Bergendal
only
aimed
to
take
advantage
of
the
situation,
in
comparison
our
new
venue
does
not
charge
for
any
of
the
above
requests
and
has
a
cheaper
hire
cost
overall.
These
are
just
a
few
bad
experiences
we
have
endured
over
the
course
of
9
months,
we
have
so
many
more
that
we
could
write
a
book.
It
was
extremely
upsetting,
stressful
and
disappointing
to
go
through
everything,
especially
when
a
wedding
is
not
generally
an
easy
thing
to
plan.
We
really
expected
a
much
better
service
from
a
venue
which
markets
itself
as
more
high-end
(and
prices
itself
accordingly).
In
the
end,
even
though
we
were
in
love
with
the
breathtaking
scenery
and
beautiful
Falkberget
building,
the
staff
relationship
convinced
us
that
this
was
the
wrong
place
to
have
a
wedding
as
we
knew
that
we
could
not
rely
on
them
to
provide
our
dream
day.
We
believe
that
Bergendal
is
better
suited
to
conferences/work
events
where
you
get
a
standardised
package
with
no
need
for
personal
touches
as
overall
we
felt
very
let
down
by
the
lack
of
flexibility.
We
recommend
that
you
think
carefully
about
the
type
of
wedding
you
would
like
to
have
if
you
choose
Bergendal
-
for
us,
changing
our
venue
to
somewhere
else
was
the
best
decision
we
ever
made.
