Currently staying at the Ewing house for our kid's first trip here. We have a lot of kids so renting an entire house would be more economical than three hotel rooms, plus you get the historical ambiance. I picked the Ewing house based on the photos on the Colonial Williamsburg website...well, that was false advertisement. My daughters were SO disappointed to find that have removed ALL the traditional curtains from the beds. Why??? Was this a stupid covid change? Why remove one of the main reasons to stay in a historical home??? And what false advertising to keep the pictures on your website from before the change!! Two of the three tv's worked. The upstairs queen room a/c was having trouble. The downstairs queen room is the one to stay in as the shower/bathroom is the largest and nicest. They clearly have "updated" the rooms with lamps that boast USB charging ports but my goodness the are ugly, I don't know what century they are supposedly from!

The colonial houses seem to be a fantastic, boutique, incredibly convenient accommodation for a family and I wish that had been true as we spent a small fortune for the one weekend we could vacation this year. We had so many issues in our 2 day 3 night stay, with very poor customer service, that I can't recommend it despite the beautiful home and great location. At the price point, it should be magical, and could have been with better customer service. Our colonial home wasn't ready for an hour after check in time, with no eta which messed up our first afternoon. We thought we could go to the pool to pass the time, but the adult only pool had nice shade and the family friendly pool had absolutely none, the water was warm and the kids started to sunburn. So we left the pool and the house still wasn't ready, at 5 pm they offered us a room to change in, but then said the house was finally cleaned. Our second day, the door lock was broken when we came back for nap time and that was a 90+ minute ordeal. And the portable a/c upstairs kept detaching itself from the vent, pouring hot air into the bedroom making it very uncomfortable upstairs. The three bedrooms all have padlocks that lock automatically if pulled shut, so you can imagine how un-fun that is with small kids and making sure you had one of the two metal keys handy to unlock the rooms all the time. The fantastic dining room downstairs not described in the listing is a bonus but we weren't counting on the open, steep, narrow stairs heading down from the main level as they're not child safe. If your guests are teens or adults with a lot of flexibility it might still be a great experience, but the tiny adjustment made to the bill for all the problems was so small as to leave us feeling utterly ripped off and angry. They even charged a $25 per day resort fee when our reservation confirmation clearly states $20. It has definitely soured our opinion of what had been one of our favorite destinations. It should have been a memorable and ultra convenient stay for the exorbitant cost, we would have had a happier trip staying at the Hampton Inn down the road that was great on past trips.

We stayed in the Tavern Rooms, right in the main area of Colonial Williamsburg. Super cute and as "authentic" as you can get. Perfect space and very cool rooms for those hot July days. We had to walk to the main resort to use the pool but it was not a problem. We had a great time. I would definitely recommend staying here. If we had a larger group, I would definitely stay in one of the houses. They are adorable.

We have made reservations for a colonial house room for three days during the grand illumination. We also opted for the tavern dinner package. Today I went to make tavern dinner reservations. It appears tavern reservations are sold out during the time we are there. Therefore our tavern dinner package can not be used. One would think you would not sell more tavern dinner packages than you have seating ability. Certainly starting out on the wrong foot Very disappointed. Know the location is wonderful so five stars there but have not experienced room yet. After this phone call, they did call back later in the evening having found one table for two on the evening we requested. Thank you.

My very first time experiencing something so elegant and beautiful. This place is a historical resort with a lot of things to do and experience. Museums, horse and carriage rides, nice restaurants, and a whole lot more. I was here for my birthday and it's something that I'll NEVER FORGET

Being able to step out into colonial Williamsburg without needing to find parking or riding the bus was great. It has your basic needs- bed, bath, etc. Bed and pillows were very comfortable, a little on the firm side (but it is how I like it).

The gluten-free menu options at Traditions and Sweet Tea & Barley are very poor. Colonial Williamsburg should be able to provide better options for those with Celiac disease & gluten intolerance.

Fantastic experience for anyone looking to get into the heart of colonial Williamsburg. My wife and I had a blast and would highly recommend staying in the colonial houses.
