After several years we decided to give Pioneer a shot at being a great place to eat country cooking. Unfortunately they did not live up to that opportunity!! The fried chicken was alright, but everything else didn’t have any taste or was too salty. I was excited about the variety of vegetables, but all of them were bland and didn’t have any taste. The salad bar was good, I guess it’s hard to mess that up. We told the hostess at the checkout about the food not having any flavor, but she defended it. We probably want eat there again😩

Best country buffet in I85 in NC. You cant beat the selection, quality amd value. If you looking for a bite to eat and travelling on I85 around Archdale/Greensboro, stop in and grab a bite to eat. You wont regret it.

Numerous tasty options on the buffet bar. Great buffet, salad, and dessert bars for a fair price. Individually ordered steaks are cooked to order and taste fantastic. The staff is attentive and engaging. Don't hesitate to stop here if you're really hungry.

My son took me here when visiting him and it did not disappoint. Most buffets are subpar at best and a little sketchy on cleanliness. However the food on the buffet at Pioneer is very good. Definitely fresh and has that home cooked flavor. The buffet is clean and well managed. It has a wide selection of meats, veggies, and sides so everyone will be satisfied. I definitely will go back on my next visit to the area.

Heard lots of great things from friends and family about this place so I had to try it out. Was about 45 minutes out of the way from my home but happened to be passing through one day thought I'd stop. The best part of the whole place was the salad bar by far. Nothing I had was bad but that being said nothing I had was good either. Tried a bit of everything and was far from impressed. Decent price for the buffet style serving but if I go back I will definitely try the steaks next time.

I got a burger and fries. The burger was 7 oz and that was just the right size for me. Cooked just how I like it: medium well. The fries were hot and fresh. Service was fast and friendly. My meal and my sister’s meal together came to $20.77. Great place for lunch.

Friends took me to the restaurant. Overall it was a good meal. I ordered the steak from the menu plus the salad bar. However, they also have a good sized buffet. The service was good with friendly staff, clean restaurant, and restroom. The price was on-par for what I ordered. I'd heard really good comments from friends and while the meal was good, nothing stood out that would make me come again.

Great food, the service was good. I visited during lunch. The food was fresh, and the staff continuously removed the empty dishes from the table. You have the option to choose from ordering from the menu or selecting the buffet. The buffet was clean and neat. I will definitely revisit.

THIS WAS A GREAT PLACE TO HAVE MY BROTHER AND SISTER IN LAW'S REVEAL OF THE BABY GENDER. WE HAD A BIG TURN OUT AND A GREAT TIME AND WILL RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE WHO WANTS GREAT FOOD AND CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Everything was just bleh. It was like I stepped back in time to the 1950's and sat down inside a soup kitchen for the homeless. Literally everything tasted like it came straight from a can, from the meat and sides to the dessert and even the glass of water. Yes I said the water tasted like it came out of a can. No flavor on anything except salt and that was ONLY on the fried chicken. You could get a better experience by just dumping canned food on a plate and heating it to just above room temp at home. Really not sure what the other reviews were experiencing but it's just edible, that's it. Unless feeling adventurous, I'd stay away.

For close to 20 years I have loved this place But, the quality of food has gone down hill drastically, We have been consistent customers for years and love the staff the prime rib has been brown (extremely overcooked) and dry every night for at least the last 3 months including tonight and we are there about 3 times per week (regulars) but, with some other venues in the area we're gonna start trying them out. I blame upper management even though I have complained regularly.

This place has all the charm of an Army chow hall. All of their food was so bland. Hopefully, you enjoy pop country, because there's plenty of that. Their interpretations of tartar sauce and cocktail sauce are wild, and they taste terrible. The meats offered at the carving station are dry. Really dry. Both the fried chicken and fried fish lacked seasoning. The salad bar was pretty basic and the dressings were thin and not very tasty. Apparently, it's a popular place for 80+ year olds and people just looking for some cheap food that came off a Sysco truck. The buffet cost roughly $15. Service was average.

Pioneer is a great restaurant choice for the money and variety of food selection. It is more of a home cooked meal atmosphere and definitely a family atmosphere! Lunch Buffet is the best bang for your buck

They told me you're on the limited to 5 × 2 go to get the carved meat. How many times have you gone to a buffet and looked at a menu so? I was never informed of anything of the such and the proportion sizes from the carvings were slim You wanna save your food cost but yet you wanna offend your customers? If you're going to post on what your business practices don't just posted in the menu that I don't use because I go to buffet and I. Post it so you can be informed on what your policy's Not just to offend your customers when you choose to and give better proportion sizes.

Great food variety. Awesome salad bar. Service top shelf. Just as good as golden corral,maybe better! Decent prices.

Always thought I would try the restaurant and finally did. Can't say I will frequent it. Pretty basic except for the price. It was a bit much for what you got. Clean and ok service but other than that I don't have much to say about it.

Food choices on the buffet are a lot like a home cooked country table setting. Plenty of side items to choose from. The "Fatback" was undercooked, not "Crunchy" to "Rubbery" It took me a while to chew one piece up before swallowing. The Mac and cheese was good but, a little bit juicy in terms of soupy. These are the only complaints, I have from my visit. I'll be sure to visit back in the future!

1st time was on a weekday 2nd time a Sunday. Salad bar is absolutely amazing. Buffet is ok, love the fatback, don't like breakfast bar. Desserts suck they have no flavor.

Stopped in in our way home to Kentucky from vacation. 2 adults 2 children buffet with drinks like $35! Great salad bar, wide variety of food. Even our picky eater ate two plates and left full. Waitress was the great, super friendly and on top of drink refills. Couldn't have asked for a better experience.

I liked the fried chicken. Also had some small butter breaded shrimp that was tasty. I also think I had some fried catfish. The food was good for a buffet. The price was very good. The server was very nice. The place is very big inside. The only thing that was a turn-off was the food scraps on the floor. But after watching staff try to clean it up, one realized they did not have the right equipment for the task.

My wife and I have been eating there almost once a week for the past 10 years. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food is outstanding and the price is extremely reasonable. Basically it's a great family atmosphere and will continue eating there!

Really great restaurant! I went there to eat with my grandpa and Dad for lunch (I had been there several times before) and we all got the buffet. The waitresses were super friendly and helpful--real southern girls--and were there to help anyone no matter what. (I saw one assist an elderly man on the menu and explain what something meant with a big smile.) The food was fresh and warm, and the atmosphere was amazing. There were a lot of regulars and the waitresses acted like friends and already knew what they wanted.

Ordered a steak and salad, came with fries or baked potato, I chose the fries. Also came with a choice of dessert. The young lady that helped me said she was new but she was very kind and helpful. She was good at customer small talk, we chatted about me being from out of town. The food arrived very quickly, I was impressed. The steak was cooked perfectly. The rest of the food was very good. I highly recommend this establishment!

We lucked up on it being from out of town. I thought it was a very reasonable priced restaurant, the food was plentiful and delicious.

Very clean, they provide protective gloves to handle the utensils for self serve buffet. Excellent food, great pricing, Friendly & attentive staff, clean restrooms and I witnessed first hand an Employee assisting a Disabled Elderly Gentleman. You will find Nothing better than Pioneer 😁😉

The steaks were surprisingly good. Could have benefitted from a bit more seasoning as I'm not a steak sauce person, but they were super tender and cooked to the right temp. The salad bar is awesome, too. Good service. Very clean.

The food here is absolutely wonderful. It's warm and fresh and they have a great variety. From the salad bar to sides and vegetables to meats and pasta to desserts. Their buffet is simply the best in the area.

Everything was great staff was very friendly. Our server was really nice. The food was great. They kept hot food coming on the buffet. I was looking for a nice down home southern style restaurant to take my mom for Sunday dinner and this place was perfect!

Always a family-loving type of environment. The food is good. The servers are awesome. If I had to do one change (which I understand it meals change daily most likely. I also understand the cost of food is higher than the past years) is the variety of meat dishes. That's it. Don't gotta be like Golden Corral or anything. Just a little more selection. That's it. The only reason why I didn't give the five stars is because what I wanted was not on the bar. And I'm sure it could be the fact that I don't know the menu by day. But I had gastric bypass surgery a little over a year ago, so when I want something to eat, I tend to only want that thing. So everything I ate was great, but it just wasn't the vegetable soup that I wanted. But everything tastes great.

Food was very good and hot! Glad that they had NO PORK options. It's about 2 hours from where I live but will gladly revisit whenever I'm.im the area
