Now This is the Temple and He is the main protagonist from whom and where everything started in GOKARNA...the famous Temple -Town of Karnataka. Infact, Gokarna is all about religious legends...the very birth of this sacred place itself, is a legend...one with associated with Ravana, the mighty King of Lanka and the most notable Shiva disciple and Ganapati, the son of Shiva. When Ravan was carrying the Atmalingam( the Soul of the Almighty/ Shiva) to Lanka, after getting it from Shiva Himself, he was deceived by Ganapati who was dressed as a small boy and asked to help by Ravan to hold the sacred Atmalingam...but Ganapati just put Him at Gokarna, the place now famous as Mahabaleshwar and thus stopped Ravan from taking the Atmalingam to Lanka. Thus it is Ganapati...and Ganapati alone who stop Ravan, saved mankind and the main reason behind GOKARNA 's birth. Now, the Maha Ganapati Temple is the main temple....after paying your homage to Ganapati you should visit Mahabaleshwar. The temple is a beautiful and divine one, just a few meters from Mahabaleshwar Temple... and once inside you will surely feel a divine aura. And the Ganapati Idol is something different...a hole in His head ...the story of Ravan's angry outburst who threw a stone at Ganapati's head after His failure to pull out the Atmalingam from the soil... Just visit the place.

Maha Ganapati Temple is a prominent pilgrim site in Gokarna in the state of Karnataka. Maha Ganapati Temple is a famous religious site and is visited by thousands of devotees from all over the country. The temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha, a popular and loved deity of the Hindupantheon. The temple is located near another popular pilgrim site, Mahabaleshwara Temple which is dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Good temple, but maintenance is very poor. Narrow roads, no car parking. If visiting by car, suggest to park the car at Gokarna Beach parking and walk down (approx 200-300 meters) the narrow roads towards the temple. Mahabaleshwar temple is close by, can cover both temples at the same time. Dress code is very strict - traditional dress.

Most amazing temple in Gokarna it’s just behind the main temple. You will first see this temple and then you can go to main shrine. You have to follow certain Atier men should wear panchi or dhothi, female should wear saree or chudidhar to enter the temple premises. Men should be bare body while entering into the sanctum.

Beautiful and unique baal Ganesh temple ! It is known that this baala ganesh is the reason for getting Atmalinga placed in Gokarna. Temple is small yet attractive due to unique idol. Trafdic and crowd due to narrow streets , No proper management of footwear's, makes it difficult to enter the temple.

When in gokarna, do not miss the temple visit. This is such a beautiful idol of lord ganesha in the form of bala ganesh, with a rich religious story. Unlike shri Mahabaleshwar temple, here dress code is not that strict. But it is advisable to follow the rituals of the temple.

Its near to Mahabaleshwar temple. Lord Ganesha's standing statue is the major attraction. It has historical importance. It gives holy vibes. Famous amongst the devotees. No photography allowed. Traditional attire is required to enter in temple.

❤️🐀 🌈 All glories to Shree Maha Ganapati and the brahmins who serve him. What a treasured ancient place of worship imbibed with devotion and traditions. Please go see Him. The joy in your heart will always flow when you think of this cherished deity. There is a real treat of devotion inside. His treasured devotee and carrier offering dundavats in bas relief. It is the sweetest mood and almost a childlike feel inside. Don't miss the ancient, soul captivating energy that will sear the image of Glorious Ganapati and his faithful servant into your mind forever. A kind refuge for the "untouchables". Bless up!

Shree Maha Ganapathi Dev Temple in Gokarna is a must-visit destination for devotees of Lord Ganesha. The temple's architecture and the peaceful atmosphere make it an ideal place for worship and meditation. The temple's staff is courteous and helpful, and the temple is well-maintained. The daily puja and aarti are performed with great devotion, and the temple's prasad is also delicious. The temple's location is convenient and easily accessible, and the surrounding areas are also worth exploring. Overall, a wonderful experience and highly recommended for anyone visiting Gokarna

Situated near Mahabaleshwar Temple. Idol of Ganapathi has a depression on the head, that was caused by Ravana for placing the aatmalinga on the ground.

Visiting the ancient temple of Lord Ganesh is truly a divine experience that transports you to another era. As you approach, you'll be greeted by the scent of incense and the soft chime of bells. The temple's architecture, adorned with intricate carvings, tells stories of generations past. Inside, you'll find the unique standing idol of Lord Ganesh, radiating a timeless aura of reverence. The idol, bathed in soft candlelight and adorned with fragrant garlands, exudes an undeniable presence. Devotees gather to offer their prayers and light oil lamps, creating a serene atmosphere filled with devotion. The priest, steeped in ancient rituals, conducts ceremonies that have been practiced for centuries, invoking blessings and a sense of spiritual connection.

Very good and important temple of Lord Ganesha in Gokarna. It draws mythological importance dating back to Ramayana times. This temple is very close to Shiva temple on the same road. In fact as a custom, we take darshan of Lord Ganesha first and then visit other temples. Worth visiting these places as part of holy pilgrimage.

The Ganapathi temple has mythological importance related to atmalinga in Mahabaleshwara temple. The boy who made Ravana to leave the atmalinga at Gokarna was none other than lord Ganesha. You will be lucky enough if you get a change to touch the Ganesha vigraha and perform pooja. The temple is just next to Mahabaleshwara temple in the car street of Gokarna.

A beautiful temple located right beside the main temple , dedicated to Lord Ganesha. One must follow the dress code , same as the main temple , men must wear lungi or panche and must remove their shirts. One can touch the feet of the Ganapathi statue and take blessings.

Another beautiful temple in gokarna. Accessibility is not that great, you can come by walk or auto. Since road is very narrow and congested. Lord Ganesh murti is really beautiful. To touch murti you need to have certain attire. Men with upper half body naked and wearing dhoti, women with saari or churidar.

An Ancient Hindu god Ganesh Temple with very unique story behind it. Typically built in ancient Indian style using stone and wood. Well maintained and clean with no any rules to visit the temple unlike Mahabaleshwar temple.

Very old temple right in the middle of road, although i wrapped around a dhoti, it wasnt needed to go to this temple. Visit this Ganapati temple before going to Lord Shiva temple close by. We were coming from Om beach and google maps brought us from the shortcut next to prema hilltop, saw the sign of narrow road, hardly 100m before temple and parked the car on roadside and walked. road is so narrow that only 2 wheelers can come to temple from that side. you can come from market side and may find parking on road. lots of shops around with good pricing, just a few shops away wonderful dryfruits shop and very cheap cashews, pista, cloves, etc. also bought many clothes for entire family for beach purpose. found it quite cheap to shop , also it was evening time.
