Heaven on earth. Very peaceful atmosphere. Superb architecture. Main worship place is in the middle of nectar pool, which gives magnificent views. Every one visited this place, for sure, feel the positive vibes. Always busy place with devotees and tourists across the globe. Community kitchen is 24 hours functional providing free food and tea. Clock room and shoe stand are also open 24 hours. Never seen so much hygienic and super clean washrooms any religious place in India. Rooms available for free on pre requests, even you can book online. Surrounding market has been also upgraded in New look. Don't forget to bargain with local vendors. Local food is very delicious and cheap.

What can I say that hasn’t been said already. Truly remarkable place for visitors and locals alike. The generosity of this place is beyond any words I have. I have deep respect for Sikhs and how compassionate they are. They serve over 1M meals a day, 24 hours a day 7 days a week to anyone. It’s simple, nutritious and plentiful. Truly incredible experience that I will never forget.

On my third visit, I once again felt the same enchanting sensation that never gets old. The tranquil and serene atmosphere of the place captivates me every time. At the entrance, I removed my shoes and covered my head as a sign of respect. The chants in the background created a mystical aura that surrounded me. After taking a full round of the premises, I joined the long line towards the main center. Despite the rush, the line moved quickly, and I didn't have to worry. I always look forward to the Prasad they serve, it's my favorite. Afterwards, I went to the langar to enjoy a simple yet delicious meal. Sitting on the floor while being served in turns was a humbling experience. I strongly recommend visiting this place at least once. The atmosphere, food, and experience are truly inspiring.

No words can brief the beauty, magnanimity, and majesty of this Holy place of Sikhism. It is situated in the heart of Amritsar city and conveniently located & approachable and is open for all faiths without any if or but. Certain restrictions are mandatory. Community kitchen service is open round the clock for all. This place is extremely well maintained in all respects and all amenities are available here. Cleanliness is superb and service to mankind is unparalleled.

Beautiful place, very clean, very peaceful 🌞, everyone was praying or singing bhajans everywhere in the place. The centre golden temple is so beautiful everything is made of gold, the food at Langer was also tasty, there were orange fishes in the pond, and on all 4 corners of the place people were serving hot water to keep the body warm in such cold weather.

Experience the positive energy here. Nice & beautiful surrounding. Few things that can be helpful for you if you're visiting here first time : Submit your shoes on outside counters, cover your head, dont take any battery/Power Bank inside & lastly take photos with precautions.

A single visit is just not enough. One needs to spend time to soak in the blissful hymns being recited, as the mellifluous tones come wafting to you over the waters of the sacred sarovar. The Golden Temple by day is a different place from the lit up Golden Temple by night - and both are equally resplendent in the holy glory. With tens of thousands of pilgrims and visitors thronging everyday, the cleanliness levels are amazing and the the experience is out of the world. However many times one may visit, the place never fails to give you a sublime experience. One just needs to be receptive.

Visited in March 2022. 2.5 hr of queue at 10:30 am in Tuesday. Be prepared for more time later. Do visit the upper floors they r good and view is nice. Plan for visit in evening it is great. Kids and womens can go in separate line which is shorter or be part of the common queue. Great experience

Even after going there, it doesn't feel like we have reached here, it looks more beautiful in the evening, the light around and the gold shining from the lake, it looks like a dream, this place is a symbol of peace, tranquility and community. , cleanliness is also taken special care here, it is also true that people who come here pray for their well-being and it is fulfilled, it is open 24 hours and food is also available 24 hours free for all passengers. So I will say that we must come here at least once in our life.

What a beautiful, serene place this is. It filled me with awe, not just the buildings, which are breathtaking, but with their serving free food, without any discrimination, to around 100000 people per day. Everybody is welcome to eat there. We did not eat there, but the immensity of the operation is huge and subsequently requires donations to keep this service going. If you visit this place, you will not be disappointed.

The Golden Temple in Amritsar, also known as Harmandir Sahib, is an iconic Sikh religious site and a must-visit destination. It is a place of profound spiritual significance and architectural beauty. The stunning golden structure is surrounded by a serene and picturesque lake, creating a sense of peace and tranquility. The temple complex is open to people of all faiths and offers free meals to visitors, showcasing the Sikh principles of equality and selfless service. The interior of the temple is equally impressive with its intricate artwork and gilded walls. The atmosphere is often filled with devotional music and a palpable sense of spirituality. However, the temple can get crowded, almost daily and especially during religious festivals, so it’s advisable to visit during quieter times for a more serene experience. Overall, the Golden Temple is a unique and spiritually enriching place that is well worth a visit for its cultural, religious, and architectural significance.

The best place to visit in Amritsar. No words.. Not only because of the beauty of temple but also for gesture of pilgrims. It is simply magnificent! You will feel calmness and positive vibes once you are here. It is suggested to visit once in morning and again at night to truly appreciate its beauty. Make sure to cover your head before entering and you can also have free food in the community kitchen. One should definitely come here at least once in his life. We visited the temple both during day and night time to see it in daylight and in dark.

Very beautiful place, everyone is polite here and you can sense a feeling of calmness and stillness when you visit here. The temple is really spectacular at night since it is lit, a must see at night. The water to clean your hand and feet are a bit warm so no need to worry during the winters. There is a free kitchen as well which serves lunch and dinner. A very holy place must visit.

My visit to the Golden Temple in Amritsar was nothing short of a transcendental experience. From the moment I caught my first glimpse of its glistening golden façade, I knew I was about to embark on a journey of spiritual awakening and cultural immersion. As I approached the temple complex, I was immediately struck by its architectural grandeur and the sense of peace that enveloped the surroundings. The shimmering waters of the sacred Sarovar (pool) reflected the golden hues of the temple, creating a mesmerizing sight that seemed to transcend earthly realms. Stepping inside the temple, I was greeted by the melodious recitation of Gurbani (Sikh scriptures) and the rhythmic beat of the Gurdwara's (Sikh place of worship) renowned kirtan (devotional music). The atmosphere was imbued with a profound sense of reverence and devotion, drawing visitors from all walks of life to pay homage to the divine. The langar (community kitchen) of the Golden Temple is a true testament to the Sikh principles of equality, compassion, and service to humanity. Partaking in the langar, where all are welcomed and fed without discrimination, was a humbling experience that left a lasting impression on my heart. Exploring the temple complex further, I was captivated by the intricate marble work, ornate domes, and stunning architectural details that adorned every corner. The Akal Takht, the highest seat of authority in Sikhism, stood as a symbol of strength and resilience in the face of adversity. As the day drew to a close, I found myself reluctant to leave the sanctuary of the Golden Temple. It is a place where time seems to stand still, allowing visitors to connect with their inner selves and find solace amidst life's chaos. In conclusion, a visit to the Golden Temple is not just a sightseeing excursion but a soul-stirring pilgrimage that leaves an indelible mark on the spirit. It is a sanctuary of peace, unity, and spiritual rejuvenation—a beacon of light in an often tumultuous world. I wholeheartedly recommend experiencing the Golden Temple to anyone seeking solace, inspiration, and a deeper connection to the divine. Note: Visitors are encouraged to cover their heads, remove their shoes, and observe the guidelines of respect and modesty when visiting the Golden Temple. Additionally, donations to support the temple's charitable endeavors are always appreciated.

Beautiful experience in the holiest Sikh place. We visited at night (~9 pm) to witness the “putting to bed” ceremony and it was amazing . We also visited the kitchen and seeing the amount of people eating there was quite extraordinary. Keep in mind you need to take off your shoes and socks to enter the temple, but it is quite clean. If you enjoy this kind of place it is worth coming to Amritsar just to see this temple . The temple is very beautiful 😍

No words.. Not only because of the beauty of temple but also for gesture of pilgrims. We visited the temple both during day and night time to see it in daylight and in dark. There will always be rush and you need to cover your hairs with cloth irrespective of gender. Don't worry if you have not got one. They will give it for free near entrance which you need to return after you come out. Else it will be sold everywhere outside the temple for 10/- Also, you need to deposit you footwear in the deposit section. They will give a token as reference. Remember, you shouldn't even wear socks as you need to wash your feet before entering in the mild flowing water. When you enter the temple, there will be drinking water facilities every corner and dont worry, they wash the water bowl after every use. The water will be cold always and you can fill it in your bottle too. There is provision for those who wants ro fake bath in the manmade lake. Also, seperate section is made for ladies to bath. It's open 24hrs but at night Darshan will be only till 10.30PM. But Langar seva will be open 24hrs and they serve food with same enthusiasm till your stomach fills. They serve Roti, dal, rice, sabjj, kheer and water. After having food, you can volunteer yourself for seva like making Rotis, dal or washing dishes, cleaning premises etc.. When we went, it was Guru Purab day and we didn't expect such long waiting queue. it got us 5hrs to take Darshan of Waheguru. No Photography Allowed inside. You can donate some amount there. on exit, they serve Karah Parshad for everyone. There are many shopping stalls in premises for you to shop. Try visiting both in Day and night time to enjoy the beauty of temple. You can even sleep outside temple provided you have bought your chadar so that when they wake waheguru in morning 2.30, you witness it.

The Golden Temple is spiritually the most significant shrine in Sikhism. The Golden Temple is an open house of worship for all people, from all walks of life and faiths. It has a square plan with four entrances, and a circumambulation path around the pool. The complex is a collection of buildings around the sanctum and the pool. It's a visually and spiritually beautiful experience to visit here

The Partition of India has been one of the most defining events in the history of the subcontinent. It was the largest migration in human history and upto 20 million people were affected. Despite the extensive loss to life and property, 70 years later there existed a severe lacuna that no museum or memorial existed anywhere in the world to remember all those millions. The Partition Museum aims to fill this void and tell the story through the voices of those who lived through the times.

Undoubtedly, this is the main attraction of Amritsar and a must visit place. Whatever is your religion, you are be welcome inside. This place is definitely going to make you calm, you have to feel it yourself, no word can describe it. Few things to keep in mind while visiting the temple : 1. Try to arrange an accommodation close to the Golden Temple, so that you can visit the temple early morning and late evening. 2. Being the main attraction, this place can get reao crowded, keep that in mind. 3. You need to cover your head, put off yours shoes and wash your feet before entering. 4. They have the baggage counter inside the temple, you may deposit your bag there

The very sacred and holy place, well connected to Delhi and over night journey by bus, and very near to bus stand, you will get battery rickshaw etc to reach gurudwara, or you can ho by walk also. It will took little bit longer to darshan due to heavy crowd. Its not mandatory but, you can also take bath in the holy pond before darshan, for women also arrangements are there for bathing. And if you wish to stay, you can also book rooms which is outside the Gurudwara, which is operational by Gurudwara committee. Hotels are also pleasent and comfortable. Langar (Maha Prasad) is also nice. You must go and get the langar maha prasad and have blessings of Babaji. i got my wishes fullfil from here, so i can say you will also not get disappointed from Sri Harmandir Sahab darbar, surely he will fulfill your wish. Must visit once in a life time... No words can describe the whole things but .. in one line.. Wahe guru ka khalsa, Wahe guru di fateh...

There is always thousands of people here from nearby local visitors to tourists from across the globe. But despite this crowd, there is a peaceful environment inside which is difficult to match or fathom. The moment you step inside this gurudwara you are bound to feel calm and serene. It hardly matters whether you are a Sikh or not, your mind suddenly takes a spiritual bend and you are at peace with your inner self. Over the years facilities in and around the temple have been improved dramatically making it a more comfortable experience for visitors. Direct access via any vehicles even till the main entrance is now prohibited and you have to walk a bit to get to the temple and then a bit more walking once you get inside to take a complete round around the sarovar and then enter the inner shrine. The karha (prasad) and langar inside are tasty and not to be missed. The community kitchen runs 24X7 despite being one of the biggest of its kind in the world, serving food to thousands and thousand daily. No shoes or socks allowed inside the temple and your head needs to be covered at all times. Due to the continuous flow of devotees and tourists expect to spend at least an hour inside if you want to do darshan of the main Takht. But its an experience of a lifetime which needs to be repeated every year. So don't miss it for anything in the world.

The place is extremely serene and the ambience here at certain times is unreal! Indeed worth a visit is this place in a lifetime. However, beware of people roaming around outside the premises who may crowd you for buying a covering for head. That may cost anywhere from a 10 to a 100 rupees depending on how vulnerable/foreign you seem.

Truly a heavenly place on earth. This divine place is very different from other places. Words are not enough to describe the serenity you will feel here. A better time to visit here is late evening to night so that you can beat the heat. And the lights add up to the beauty of this majestic place. The place is surrounded by a huge local market. Overall it is a must visit place in a lifetime.

For the Sikhs, this location is sacred. You must take off your shoes and socks and wash your feet before entering. You must always keep your head covered. An unadulterated, pleasant experience that has been well-maintained and controlled. There are people who will guide you, and the temple is quite clean. It is really lovely to view, especially at night when it is illuminated. Do not miss to have food in Lungar.

The Golden Temple is one of the famous pilgrimage spots in India. It is also known as Harmandir Sahib and is a scared place for the Sikh community. Thousands of tourists and pilgrims come to the Golden Temple all over the year. The temple is located in the city of Amritsar in the state of Punjab. Sikhs consider the Golden Temple in Amritsar as a very holy site because the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the eternal Guru of the Sikhs is located inside the temple. The temple is surrounded by a beautiful lake. People wash their hands in the waters of the lake, which is considered to be a sacred ritual. The religious site was initially built around 1574 A.D. In addition to the Sikhs, people of other religions and communities also come here to pay their homage. The Golden Temple, Amritsar is famous for the architectural beauty and charm. Hari Mandir or Darbar Sahib is the most sacred part of the temple. This part of the temple is famous for the exquisite golden structure at the center. There are golden plates to cover the exterior walls of the upper floor and the dome. There are also elegant marble sculptures. The lake that surrounds the Golden Temple is also considered to be very holy and is known as the "Pool of Nectar". There is a marble walkway, known as the Guru's Bridge, which leads to the pavilion of the temple. The doorway of the bridge consists of exquisitely carved silver doors. Another unique feature of the Golden Temple is the dining hall, known as the Guru-ka-Langar. The hall can accommodate around 35,000 devotees who are served meal by the temple authorities. The Golden Temple in Amritsar is also famous for the celebrations. The main festival that is celebrated in the temple is Vaisakhi. It is held in the second week of April and is celebrated to commemorate the founding of the Khalsa cult. To celebrate the festival, the whole temple is illuminated with lights which are a great spectacle.

Even if you are not borne before independence you can experience the miseries of the people who were the most affected on account of the partition of India. There are written letters of the persons who have suffered during the partition, experiences shared before and after the partition between two communities which are divided on the basis of religion. The letters describe their own experiences in their own words which makes the viewer or the reader experience those feelings. Today,s neighbours and friends of the same culture turn into tomorrow's enemies and foes of distant cultures. Individual and mob psychology plays a great role in such situations. The pictures, self-written letters, newspapers, and so many personal things that are displayed show the loss of humanity in the days of partition with hatred and animosity played by the so-called leaders of the community. Every article displayed in this museum gives you a unique experience of the pain that is suffered during the partition. The British policy of Divide and Rule is employed by the British Governors even at the time of giving Freedom to the country. Independence with partition created divide among the great people of India forever and the British succeeded in their policy so as to never unite the country after independence. We get Horrible experience even through the articles, letters, newspapers, souvenirs, kept in the museum and hence cannot imagine the agony and bizarre experiences suffered by the real victims. This place is walkable distance from Golden temple and has a entry fee of INR 10 or 25 for Indians. It is air conditioned hall which hides a whole lot of information within the four walls One can literally feel the pain brought by the partition to the citizens of both the countries, the devastation caused by it lingers for a longer time even after coming out of the museum The museum has pictures, artefacts,audio-visual equipments which takes you back to the 1940s .You can spend an hour or so if you are interested in history, partition else it will be just a walk through

I had a great experience golden temple . Golden temple is such a stress relieving and peaceful . The premises of the temple is so clean and tidy . There are more the adequate facilities for keeping the bag or luggage and a specific area for storing the footwear . If you visit that place you will found yourself between many people who are always there to help you.. Free food is served there in 24 hours and you can expect a nice behavior from that peoples . And make sure to cover your head before entering the templel.! The golden temple is the place which will never disappoint

Awesome place. It was such a visual treat to see temple in the night with all the lights on. The reflection in the water was just amazing. Thousands of people were there during the time we visited. All the people were very pious and disciplined. Very good system at the temple to keep your belongings. Food is served free for all those who come there. We saw people taking a dip in the pond inside. You can feel the holy vibrations inside the premises. If you want to get inside the sanctum of Gurudwara better to reach beofe 10:00 in the night, even though it is said to be open twenty four hours.

So this is a really fantastic experience. Do two things, hire a local guide and make sure you go very early to beat the long lines and heat. The temple is beautiful and the people watching is second to none. If you're a Sikh, it's a pilgrimage. Remember that this is the center of their faith and make sure you behave that way.

The Golden temple (also known as )Sri Harmandir Sahib or Darbar Sahib is a Gurudwara located in Amritsar Punjab. It is the preeminent spritual site of Sikhism and one of the holiest sites in sikhism. Sri Harmandir Sahib was founded and completed by the Fourth Sikh Guru "Ramdas ji", in 1577 and was completed in 1589. Then in 1604 the Fifth sikh guru "Arjan Dev ji",placed a devine copy of Adi granth in Harmandir Sahib and is the prominent figure in the development of Gurudwara, who built in the 16th century. Golden temple is a open house for all religions, species and races of all faiths. It has a four enterances and a circumambulation path around the pool. The four enteraces to the Gurudwara symbolises the sikh belief in equality and the sikh view that all people from any religion or caste are welcome into their holy place. The Gurudwara interior is wonderful engraved collection of buildings which attracts everyone. The akali boonga ,the religious bair Baba Budha ji near the turn side of akaal takht and bair Dukh Bhanji sahib gives u more soothing and holy freshness of sikhs past history. And the most attracted is Akaal Takht sahib, one of the part of sri Harmandir Sahib is a holy shrine takht monument standing with 2 longest " Nishaan Sahib" belief of Miri Piri in Sikh religion. There is also big Langar " free kitchen " that offers a free vegetarian meal to all the visitors without discrimination. Over 150,000 people visit the holy shrine everyday for worship. So i beleive everyone must visits Sri Harmandir Sahib once to get a holy and religious touch full in your heart and soul. Waheguru...

I was here a few years ago. It was hard to enter inside with shoes off because you have to walk a ways to get to the main entrance. Now, there is an entire area that has not motor traffic, just foot traffic. It is very spacious and looks much better. Entry also is very smooth and each time, it just gets better. If you want to get free meals, all day as long as you want, you can do it here. Stay at the dorm, volunteer some of your time and you can experience the sharing of very generous Sikh people. I heard it takes about 4,000 volunteers to man the kitchen, cooking, serving, dishes. It is truly incredible. Dress conservatively and cover your head. Be prepared to remove your shoes and wash your feet. And also I prefer you to listen KIRTAN. I can promise you that you will be lost in KIRTAN.

The ticket counter guy is a Thug. The museum's website shows ticket price is ₹10. I bought 6 tickets, the guy charged me ₹120 but gave the bill of ₹60. The only mistake I did was not to check the bill at that time. I assumed that maybe the ticket price has been raised to ₹20 post covid. I checked the bill and website a day later. I'd suggest, Check your bill at that time and CONFRONT THE TICKET COUNTER GUY.

It’s well described as the golden temple. Not just by looks but by feel. You need serenity, you come here, you need peace, be here. You need some time away from your routine and seek spirituality, be here. The langar is famous, do attend and serve if possible. It’s a bit rush out here every time so better go at early morning. Temple is open from 3:30 AM to 10 PM I suppose and langar goes on for 24 hours a day

  • 5/5 Harsh K. 1 year ago on Google
Very beautiful place to visit. Looks much more vibrant at night with golden colours all around. Definitely worth visiting with family. Although the outside lanes which lead to the temple are full of street businessmen and cons. They'll almost force or beg you to buy things which generally shouldn't happen at or near such a holistic place.

  • 5/5 Navpreet G. 1 year ago on Google
The serenity and sanctity of the place brings harmony to your head and heart. You'd never want to leave the place. It's jam packed at all the times but yet soothing. On an average day, you may have to be in the queue for about an hour or so, to be able to visit inside the Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple). There are two lines that move simultaneously - left one takes you to the front gate of the holy shrine and the right one takes you to the side gate of the shrine. Usually the right line moves faster. But people generally prefer the front gate for personal reasons. I believe God is everywhere and we can just sit anywhere in the world & meditate to be one with the God.

A must place to visit in India. People from all religions are welcomed here with open arms. The amount of dedication poured by all helpers is speechless. All professionals should learn how to manage such a large crowd of worshiper in a smooth and efficient way from Golden Temple management team. The words are not enough to describe this place.

  • 5/5 Arun K. 1 year ago on Google
Just beautiful. Temple seems to be very bright in noon times. Temple rules are pretty strict. The best thing is the langar, where food is served 24*7 free of cost. To enter the temple there is a long wait in queue. It took us around 2 hours. Rest every thing is great. There is shelter for homeless people. Every thing is free of cost.

This temple is very peaceful and calm. The Golden Temple is known to have one of the biggest community kitchens in the world, serving thousands of people every day. It’s hard to tell when it's best to visit the Golden Temple, but at night, the shimmering gold and pristine white of the structure shines brighter than ever. This is the best place in Amritsar. The Golden Temple is the place that will never disappoint. Very religious place to visit.

Beautiful, serene and peaceful place. You may have to spend a little time in queues depending on the time of the visit but the beauty and aura of positivity is oozing around the place. There is a bit of strictness nowadays with how you should carry yourself inside the premise. I recommend everyone to visit the Golden Temple just to enrich yourself with the whole learning and history that comes with it.

This place is divine. It is huge, holds tremendous spiritual values and is governed by the faith and empathy of the devotees. I had to spend more than 7 hours here to have the darshan of the shrine, crowd management could have been way better but nevertheless the sanctity and divinity of the places dissolved all the complaints and tiredness. It a must visit for everyone living in this country. Wahe Guru 🙏

Visiting the Golden Temple was a truly awe-inspiring experience. The moment I stepped into the temple complex, I was enveloped in a sense of peace and spirituality. The magnificent golden architecture and the serene atmosphere create a divine ambiance. The langar, where everyone is served a free meal, is an incredible example of Sikh principles of equality and service. I highly recommend a visit to this place.

The Golden Temple is one of the most beautiful and spiritual places I've ever visited. The stunning architecture and intricate details of the temple are breathtaking, and the peaceful atmosphere is truly awe-inspiring. The temple is a symbol of unity and equality, welcoming visitors of all religions and backgrounds with open arms. The langar, or community kitchen, is a testament to the Sikh values of selfless service and generosity, providing free meals to thousands of visitors each day. I feel truly blessed to have had the opportunity to visit such a sacred and special place. The Golden Temple is a place of profound beauty and spiritual significance. The stunning architecture and intricate details of the temple are a testament to the skill and artistry of the Sikh people. The temple complex is also home to a number of other important buildings and monuments, including the Akal Takht, the highest temporal seat of the Sikh religion. The atmosphere of the temple is one of peace and tranquility, and visitors are encouraged to take their time and soak in the beauty and serenity of the surroundings. The langar, or community kitchen, is a truly remarkable institution, providing free meals to thousands of visitors each day regardless of their background or beliefs. I feel incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to visit this sacred and special place, and I look forward to returning again someday. Waheguru ji 🙏

Take it from an agnostic, one tends to question reality and the cosmic divinity but yet here, one might feel a sense of belonging and solace that is scarcely available in our monotonous life. Do visit this holy shrine which welcomes folks from all walks of life. P.S. Am I in love w/ the food, which is a 24/7 run kitchen, colloquially known as the "Langar"

What an amazing experience we had visiting the Golden Temple. I visited it on the day of Diwali and it was as crowded it could get... but the light decorations where absolutely incredible and the view next morning was amazing too.

This place is so surreal, peaceful and tranquil. We went for 10am and wait time to get into the shrine was 1-1:30 hours. It was well worth it and the 1st and 2nd floor is breath taking scenery. We visited again in the evening to see the night view again worth doing both day and night.

  • 5/5 baljinder s. 4 months ago on Google
Sublime and peaceful - no other words to describe the experience. This is a place where you disown all worldly pains and absorb the pure vibes of the Heavenly one. Try to be early in the morning or late evening when the crowds are sparse - and you can focus on your meditation. This holy place has become quite a spectacle with all the crowds that throng it - but don’t let that slow you down. The Akal Takht darshan on crowded days can be a lot frustrating and is my only pet peeve - how can the institutional organizers not have figured out the crowd management aspect of this ritual?

Incredible place, especially by night. The temple is open 24/7 (free entrance) and is a peaceful and welcoming oasis for believers and visitors. You can volunteer and help preparing the meals that are offered all day/night long. Sitting by night close to the holy water and watching the life of the temple around me was a powerful experience.

Felt very honored and blessed to visit this gurudwara. There is so much history to explore around this site and I appreciated the care that went into preserving the ornate paintings and inlays inside of the temple. It is a beautiful temple and surprisingly quiet and peaceful despite how busy it was when I visited.

  • 5/5 Meshach W. 4 months ago on Google
Amazing experience. Can’t recommend enough. So peaceful. Such wonderful people. A good place to sit and reflect. Many people take naps here in the covered arcade along the walkway and I can see why. Highly recommend going right before sunset. The transition is breathtaking. Like many places around here—if you look quite different than the crowd, if you are white and have light eyes and blond, for instance—you will get many sustained stares and some asking to take photos with you. It isn’t aggressive and you can decline. Just be prepared. If you may need to take a bathroom break at some time, check in your shoes on the entrance that’s on the other side from the walkway to the temple (East) as it’s not ideal to have to go there barefoot.

Beautiful place. Free entry and free food. Well maintained. We can keep the footwear outside, and the clock room is available free of cost. You can buy prasadam also. Since it was a long queue to mandir, we just walked around the temple only. Visit in the morning and evening. You can also enjoy the street view.

One can easily spend a complete day here looking at the Temple's beauty. Do visit the temple museum to know Sikh's history. The temple gets close by 10 but one can come at night and watch the Temple's night beauty.

The Golden Temple (also known as the Harmandir Sahib (lit. 'House of God', Punjabi pronunciation: [ɦəɾᵊmən̪d̪əɾᵊ saːɦ(ɪ)bᵊ]), or the Darbār Sahib, (lit. ''exalted court'', [d̪əɾᵊbaːɾᵊ saːɦ(ɪ)bᵊ] or Suvaran Mandir[2]) is a gurdwara located in the city of Amritsar, Punjab, India.[3][4] It is the pre-eminent spiritual site of Sikhism. It is one of the holiest sites in Sikhism, alongside the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur in Kartarpur, and Gurdwara Janam Asthan in Nankana Sahib.[3][5]
