Beautiful museum that commemorated the Sikh community. The art is very beautiful and true. Some is violent so may not be suitable for kids. Really talented artists made the artwork here. Easy to find. Staff is very friendly and helpful!! The museum is free of cost to all people. Come see this beautiful museum at the Golden Temple! Good vibes here.

Central Sikh Museum Located within the premises of The Golden Temple complex, this museum exhibits paintings, belongings, manuscripts coins and other artifacts that have contributed to the rich cultural ethos of the Sikh community. It also houses paintings of prominent Sikhs who have contributed in different ways to India's growth. One of the prominent items on display is the comb used by Guru Gobind Singh... Some weapons in the form of bows and arrows, swords, guns and muskets are also on display. Photography isn't permitted inside this museum.

The location is not really easy to find. You need to firstly remove the shoes, enter the main gate and turn left to room number 3, inside is the museums.

CENTRAL SIKH MUSEUM AMRITSAR - Established in 1958 at Amritsar, Central Sikh Museum exhibits paintings of Sikh gurus, saints, Sikh warriors and other prominent Sikh leaders who have contributed to the enhancement of Sikh religion. It has a rich collection of coins, old arms and ancient manuscripts. It also houses an excellent library. The Museum contains paintings by great Sikh artists, rare pencil sketches, musical instruments, rarest stringed instrument and guns of Sikh Raj. The wooden comb (kangha) of Guru Gobind Singh, arrows and bow, iron chakras (circles) to be worn on the turban by warrior and an iron jacket made of wires (sanjoe) are worth seeing. SGPC (Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee) is in the process of restoring this Museum along with a new Interpretation Centre in the Complex.

Ok but little perspective. Merely a gallery stuffed with pictures, portraits and quite some military things. Worth a short visit but not the historical depth I was hoping for. No photography allowed. Why?

Central Sikh museum is located on 1st floor inside the arena of Shri darbar sahib (golden temple) Amritsar. Having many sacred and holy weapons of sikh guru's including hairs and comb (kesh & kanga) of Shri guru gobind Singh ji (10th guru of sikhs). Pics of famous saints, scholars and devotees of sikh religion are also installed here for information and to pay obeisence. Must visit place.

A true history that has never been told and never shown. The pictures here tell the truth of the atrocities committed on humanity in ancient times, seeing which the body gets goosebumps. I salute all those martyrs who immortalized their names in the pages of history by their heroic deeds. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

It's located inside the complex, after the footwash. First or second door on your left. It's not really worth visiting for non-Sikhs. Mostly just modern paintings of Sikh and Punjabi historical moments. There's a few interesting minor artifacts and weapons. Only takes 5 min to walk through.

There is no doubt that it is a great place to visit to witness paintings of Sikh historical figures, events and to see some old manuscripts as well as weapons but it can be modified into a lot better infact a great place if the SGPC gives it some attention. It could be transformed into kind of a virtual tour for the pilgrims visiting from all over the world and from every faith so that they can learn everything about Sikhism they need to, from this museum as this is the most visited Sikh Holi place but unfortunately our SGPC is too busy in non-necessary things that they are doing nothing to improve this museum's value.

Central Sikh Museum preserves the gruesome history of the Sikhs’ martyrdom at the hands of the Mughals, the British, and Operation Bluestar. Established in 1958, the gallery now hosts a collection of portraits of Sikh gurus, saints, warriors and prominent leaders. Visitors will also find a rich collection of coins, arms, and ancient manuscripts, as well as an excellent library. Nice historic paintings but shame they do not allow you to take photos and instead want you to buy a book instead. Sadly this is how history is lost. If people were allowed to take photos of the artefacts that were looted and destroyed by the Indian government in 1984 we would have had a record of all Sikh historic artefacts .

Very disappoint from security guard BVG. They think they are rulers of the museum. Very misbehaving nature. So after 10 minutes eating we leave the place without watching the museum. And no one support to guide where to complaint about her. So I deside, I will not visit again. I really very disappoint ed.

Free admission. However, it appears to be more of an art gallery than museum. Very few artefacts. More effort is needed is preserve the Sikh history in this museum. Consider better storytelling methods and make this museum more appealing to the younger.

You will get lots of details about history and marvelous paintings there. Photography is prohibited inside.

The Central Sikh Museum was established by S.G.P.C. Sri Amritsar, in 1958 Ad. Many old manuscripts are displayed there, one is with the signature of Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji in the from of Mool Mantra, the wood comb of Sri Guru Gobind Singh, Kamar Kasa (a cloth to tie around the waist), Gatra (sword belt), the Dumala's Chakar (turban ring) of Baba Deep Singh, the sword of Bhai Mhetab Singh which he used to beheaded Massa Rangarh, the sword of Maharaja Ranjit Singh's Kamar Kasa which he used during the battle of Kasur, other historical arms, small portraits, the coins of Sikh rule, and the old instrument of Gurmant Sangeet (Sikh Music). There are various other paintings displayed in the museum which depict the glorious Sikh history. The paintings are painted by eminent artists such as S. Sobha Singh, S. Kirpal Singh, Master Gurdit Singh, S. Thakur Singh, Sh. Bodh Raj, S. Amar Singh, S. Mehar Singh, S. Dawinder Singh, S. Amolak Singh, S. Bhupinder Singh, S. Sukhwinder Singh, S. Gurvinder Pal Singh. The portraits of male and female members of the Khalsa who laid down their live in cause of Dharma (Religion), got their skulls sawn off, got mounted on spiked wheels, got their bodies sawn, made sacrifices in the service of the shrines (Gurudwaras), did not betray their faith, sustained their adherence of the Sikh faith with sacred hair unshorn here uptill their last breath, which are painted by S. Kirpal Singh are displayed here. Which are some of the special articrafts. These portraits depicted bravery of Singhs, their tolerance, Sikh history culture, traditions and sacrifices made for the independence of country in a glorious manner. Thus the museum describes great Sikh history in the form if these pictures.
